Great computer, the only beef I have with it is the speakers on the computer are not very loud on there own so watching movies ya gotta be close or in a quiet room. Other then that the rest of the computer runs tip top. The detach feature is great, love this for my tattoo business I can run photo shop and Adobe really well and fast. Paired with a pen it’s awesome

Really like this laptop. It was recommended by a friend who travels a lot for work. It fits in any bag/purse and is light enough not to cause shoulder pain when traveling. I don't normally use it as a tablet but its convenient and easy to do so when needed. Love that I can easily take pics with it and then store directly to my files.

Bought this for my daughter as she starts taking college classes (during her last year of high school) with the intent of it getting her through her undergraduate college years. She loves it. Size and speed were a perfect match. Given she intends to use it primarily for school she also expects it to have plenty of memory.

King of Ultralight Laptops- But not for Everyone

I love this laptop. It has quite literally everything someone could possibly need in a laptop.
It's got a good screen size, the screen quality is unparalleled, no other webcam on a laptop comes close. It is a clam-shell laptop, a 2-in-1 laptop, a tablet, and a convertible laptop, all at once. It's got lots of RAM, the wireless card allows for excellent WiFi speeds, the keyboard is well-built; it types well, it has great build quality, it detaches. Writing on this with a Surface Pen puts even the iPad with an Apple Pencil to shame. It's got a big battery. It charges pretty quickly. It has a GPU (and a pretty solid mobile one at that), which is rare for ultra-books.
However, that's not to say it's perfect. The i7 processor runs at a measly 1.9gHz and has a lacking four cores- it is great for light workloads, but under heavy loads, this processor manages to be pretty mediocre, especially compared to this laptop's otherwise top-of-the-line specs in other departments. The IO is also a bit mediocre, and while it does have a USB-C port, it does not support Thunderbolt 3.
It's also incredibly expensive. And while this has just about anything you could ask for in a laptop, before purchasing, I would recommend you ask yourself- do I really need this laundry list of features? As a power user with niche use cases, this device was the only one for me, but for most people, if you want something powerful, consider the ridiculous features of this laptop first and really consider if you truly need everything it comes with. This is exactly why, while I love the machine, I would consider it a must-buy or recommend it to everyone looking for a laptop.

I like this computer. It has many features I like, and switching from a Mac was not that hard. I have had it freeze up a few times for no reason, however, so I might bring it back and swap it out if it happens again.
I like that I can detach the screen and use it as a tablet, and it’s super fast.

Hello,
Welcome to the Surface family! We're glad that you're enjoying your new Surface Book 3 for the most part.

After having a SP3 for years, the Book3 was a huge upgrade. The quality is up there and performance is excellent. Magnesium body/build is reminiscent of MacBook Pro. . . but a much better keyboard. I would recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade from an older SP or laptop who wants to have a 2in1. I had great luck getting a solid deal on an excellent condition open-box model.

I've been a fan of Surface products for a while, and I have to say that MS always meets my expectations. This is a nice performing laptop, ideal for business and even web/graphic design and photo editing. Will stick with Surface products for sure.
Only con: No Thunderbolt ports - which I haven't really needed it. IF you plan to get an external GPU, this is probably not the best option

I have been using this for a while now. It is a wonderful laptop. The options for attaching the keyboard make it very versatile. The graphics card allows me to play all of my online games. I have a couple of reasons why I didn't give it 5 stars. Sometimes the Nvidia card is not recognized. When that happens I have to get out of the game, disconnect the keyboard, and then shutdown the computer. When I power back up and reconnect the keyboard the Nvidia card is found. The other issue is that the dynamic brightness for the screen doesn't work. It keeps changing while i am using the computer. So I turned that off. Other than those 2 issues it is a very good computer.

The computer freezes a lot and the audio stops working when there is a need for updates. I have owned other computers and that has never been the case. The screen also randomly will show lines and starts to glitch. For the amount of money the computer cost, it should not do these things. I bought the computer in late September. The computer does have great graphic quality. The pen works very well but sometimes it freezes.

This is one of the elegant laptop available currently in market with super performance. The laptop turns on / off in just 5 seconds. The detachable functionality also works very well. The metallic body and the keyboard is also nice. I wonder why microsoft stopped giving surface pen wth the surface book.I like this product very much since i bought the version 1 as a gift.

I purchased this laptop to replace my existing surface 4. This thing is amazing its runs my business and gives me the ability to do multiple tasks at once. I also purchased a surace pen whicb is useful for drawing and touching the screen. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and its something I have wanted for quite some time. If you're in the market for a upgrade don't pass on this one!

There's a lot of things I'm really happy with this product about...what I hate is that there's no simple way to turn of touch screen without turning off the pen option. I can't be the only person that steadies my drawing hand before I use the pen.

I needed a computer with speed, a good graphics card, and smooth multitasking. I work from home now and it was time for an upgrade. It is so quiet, does not get hot, and now I can handle 7-8 hours of screen time with ease. I cannot fathom my career without my laptop. Great upgrade and I am thankful I took the plunge. I trust the Microsoft brand and the Surface Books.

Outstanding laptop. Fast. High quality video card. Converts to tablet and screen can be placed backwards for presentations or watching videos. Love the SSD performance as well. Purchased the docking station and I am able to connect to two monitors, external drive and charge the laptop with a single magnetic connection.
