Far better than the first model surface duo. Sadly still has bugs, camera has improved but still behind everyone else, battery life is awful. I love the concept, but come on Microsoft, you’re better than this. After all the problems with your first model you should have made the duo 2 king. Returned, going back to Apple IPhone.

The only con I have about this device is the size. I find it to be so bulky that I don't want to carry it around and I've been using it more as a tablet than a phone. size/weight- weighing in at just over a half lb, the duo 2 is very light and easy to work with. It does feel a bit bulky in my hand and almost too big to fit in pants pockets. It fits fine in my purse but I work in a hospital and like to keep my phone in my pocket and this is just too big to do that. measurements are roughly 5.7in(h)x 7.26in(w- open)x .21in thick while open. Its the perfect size for a small tablet. screen quality- this is the most crisp and vibrant colors I have ever seen on a cell phone. The dual PixelSense displays are very sharp and vibrant. you can absolutely tell its in HD. The screens themselves are made of the newest Gorilla Glass so they can take a beating. which I would imagine will happen since you need to have the phone folded backwards to make a call. phone call quality- Phone calls came in crystal clear. Some phones have that weird echo but I did not hear any of that while using the surface duo 2. battery life- on a full charge, i can go a whole day of usage without needing to charge. This includes phone calls, texting, social media, online shopping, photos and web browsing. then i charge again over night. functionality- I do enjoy the double screen. I frequently use many microsoft applications so it is nice to be able to access them seamlessly with the surface duo 2. finding apps is simple. Video looks amazing on this phone!

Love it, I really do but..... I had to return my Duo 2 due to the two screens being different color temperatures. Left screen was bluish white and the other was amber white. And yes before you ask I had the same page spanned across the two screens. Didn't notice this for the first two (2) days then 3rd morning there it was. I checked my first gen Duo and both screen were same temp even being almost a year old at this point. (Yes I pre-ordered and paid full price for that one too). The Best Buy took one look at the screens and said, "Oh no that's not good!", and started the return. Of course didn't have another in stock so couldn't get a replacement and I had wasted my whole weekend setting it up just right. A lemon?, Maybe. A future common problem?, Maybe. I would love to get another as I am the Best Buy Page now but I'm really at the point where I'm afraid to try again. Might just use my PAID OFF Duo 1 for now.

I tried to like it and make it work. The lack of an outter display kills it for me. The feel of the device is really cool. Hinge is nice. Premium build no doubt! I just can't do it.

    Best phone I've ever owned!

I love this phone! I will never go back to a single screen phone (a previous Samsung S20, S10+, S9, and S8 user; also used the Fold 1 and 2 a lot as well as the Galaxy Note 20). To me it's all about convenience. It's never having to flip back and forth between apps. It means I can watch Youtube on one screen and play a game on the other screen. It means I can have notes open on one screen and make a phone or video call on the other screen. No other phone, including the Fold phones, can multitask as well as the SD2. And the reason why it's such an amazing multitasker is because it's so easy and automatic. With the Galaxy Fold line, I always felt like I had to resize windows, move screens around, etc. You don't have to think about any of that on the SD2. The aspect ratio of the SD2 screens are fantastic. You can actually run something on one screen and something on the other screen and both feel roomy. Contrast that with the Galaxy Fold phones where each screen half is so skinny and tall. I have no problems watching a Youtube video on one screen while web browsing on the other screen whereas on the Fold phones, you have a big tablet canvas and you have to resize the youtube to take up a portion and move the other app to take up another portion of the screen. On to some major improvements on the SD2 over the original Surface Duo (which I also loved). Phone quality is so much better! The speakerphone on the SD1 was so weak due to the tiny single speaker. Now it's actually usable. Not loud enough in my opinion but still usable in a loud environment. Reception is much better. The phone is much more responsive because of the beastly 888 SOC. Even something as simple as the keyboard (the Microsoft SwiftKey was an awful keyboard on the SD1 but it's amazing on the SD2) is more responsive on the SD2. Multitasking was great on the SD1 but for inexplicable reasons, sometimes things would just bog down. But with the SD2, you never feel like the phone is slowing down. The camera is phenomenally better. I disagree with the reviewers who said the SD2 cameras are bad. It's not the best in class but some of the images you take are amazing. I took some food pics and I was shocked how good they looked with lots of detail. The night mode did a great job too in dark environments. The cameras are much easier to use than on the SD1 and they're much more responsive. You can even set the phone up to quickly take a picture while the phone is closed! (you basically change the setting where double tapping the power button turns on the camera instead of the flashlight and then press the volume to take the photo). Also, the camera app is leagues ahead of the previous camera app. It's fast and responsive and does what you expect out of a camera app. For the bad. Sometimes the phone stops responding to touch. It's really random. The solution is to lock the phone by pressing the power button, then unlocking the phone and the touch is responsive again. So that's a bug that Microsoft needs to fix. Yes, there are some bugs but not nearly as many or as bad as on the SD1. And so far, Microsoft has been quicker to release updates on the SD2. Let's hope it gets Android 12 soon too. There is a bad thing to the cameras. What you see is NOT what you get, meaning with most phones, what you see on the display is what the image will look like when you snap the picture. But on the SD2, there have been quite a few times when what i was previewing looked totally different than the final image (the final image was much better in most cases!). I can't trust the preview image being representative of what the final image will look like which is a bit unsettling. The battery was a disappointment to me. I'm coming from a SD1. The SD1 can basically go a work day on a single charge. Sometimes it would inexplicably run short of a day but for the most part, it was basically a work day (8 solid hours). And this is really using the phone for calls and lots of work, not just sitting in a pocket or casual web browsing or videos. Real usage. On the SD2, I feel like it's hard to go an entire day with the same usage. Is it the 5G? The 90Hz screens? Using light mode instead of dark mode? The 888 versus the 855? Who knows but even though the battery is bigger (which is why the phone is heavier), battery is not as good. And the last bad thing is touch near the edges of the screen in the middle is worse. I'm not quite sure why this is but when playing games with the game spanned across both screens, I've had trouble tapping things near the middle divider. Maybe this is an intentional thing as the display does curve over the edge in the middle. I know when I had the Samsung phones with curved displays, I was always accidentally touching things when just gripping the phone and on those phones, I had to learn to hold the phone differently. In any case, it's annoying that the edge of the screen near the middle is less responsive than the rest.

I've owned this device a few different times and it has always been mixed up until now. Hardware has been great for the most part. My only issue is the stupid camera bump that they added. While I've gotten used to it, I always look back at the OG duo and think that the 360 degree turn is a lot nicer. I think Duo users are not expecting a great camera so to add a bump to get a 20 percent quality boost is not worth it. That was never a huge issue for me though. When I purchased for the 1st time it was almost as buggy as the OG duo. I decided to give it another go when the price dropped and it works just as good as any other android now. It's a bummer that this device got such a bad rep at the beginning because it really is a great phone. Especially for the discount that it's out now. I honestly found the pixel 6 more buggy than the duo 2. The battery is also passable. I'm getting about 6 hours of screen time which can get me a full day of usage. Not nearly as good as the s22 ultra or iPhone 13, but it's passable. Overall for what this device does, the discount makes it so much easier to purchase. Love it so far!

I have owned full size Microsoft Surfaces and always gravitated back to an iPad. Granted the iPad did not have a mouse and was not windows based which made it less than a comparison to a mini laptop. However over time, its starting to come around. This device is the size of a large iPhone and it folds in half vertically, allowing for two screens with a on screen keyboard. This is either wifi or 5G cellular and has full windows capability. Its not really an iPad mini nor is a phone, its more comparable to an old style Blackberry device when Blackberry released the touchscreen version back in 2008 through Verizon. Without a built in pencil, this felt clumsy and clunky and I was not even sure what I was intending on using this for since its too small to replace a laptop but too large to replace a phone and is not necessarily a tablet in my eyes. For the whopping price tag just because it has a Microsoft label on it was a bit extreme for me. I would pass on this device.

    Surface Duo 2 Review

The phone has exceeded my expectations. There is a learning curve for the dual screen functionality, and generally getting used to the feel of the phone in your hands. Once you figure all that out you'll be wondering how you lived without it! Make no mistake, it is an android based phone so you get all of the bloatware that comes with them. No surprise, Microsoft 365 functions as you'd expect. Everything was easy to set up and it works so well I'll be traveling with just this phone on future business trips. Build quality is very good. Very happy with this purchase.

UI Bugs but expected with any MS product, they launch all their products with bugs and let the customer do the testing. the original due phone was much the same thing but was updated all the time by the end worked pretty much 100 % expect this will go the same way. Battery life is a bit shorter but turning off the 5G will help that. Other than that great device.

Interesting how all the user reviews are 4-5 but Experts are all 3s. Users rave about improvements from people actually using the devise. My order is in! Side note, the display model at the Santa Clarita store has been locked witb a pin so no one can try it out. Ask employees to open it. Still locked 3 weeks now!
