    Great overall package

I would like to cover 3 aspects of Surface Laptop 2. 1. Overall package is something that lives up to the expectation. The distinct alloy used for manufacturing the surface body, ensures that the laptop never gets heated up. The keyboard is sweet. It feels nice on your hands and performs as expected. 2. Better Windows experience. Laptop manufacturer by Microsoft and better compatibility with Windows. While opening Microsoft applications you see it's smooth. I am heavy one note user and for me Surface fits my bill. Easy to work with multiple applications and it handled all of them easily. 3. Battery and other performance. Battery lasts for solid 6 to 8 hours and I can leave for work without carrying my charger when the battery is about 60%. I haven't tested pushing the RAM out of its comfort zone, however as my profession demands me to run R, MatLab and Python at the same time and surface does a good job juggling these. So surface is an all rounder and I am in love with it.

mac alternative for those new to pc's

Pros: -Fast -Lightweight -Touch screen (more useful than I thought it would be) without being a 2-in-1 (something I dislike) -Base material is actually really cool and softer on wrists/palms Cons: Only thing I've noticed is I don't like the way the track pad feels but that is a very personal preference, I recommend trying it out for yourself in store I had gone through three macbooks in my life and actually bought my fourth before speaking with some friends and returning it. I went in to Best Buy to look at Chromebooks and ended up speaking with a sales associate who made this rec after listening to my needs. I mainly use the internet but still need Windows suite sometimes and I occasionally like to edit photos and videos where I prefer to use a program instead of just an app. This laptop was a great alternative to the mac. In store I was able to purchase an "open box" version that was basically new and got a great discount!

This is really a nice computer. I am a Mac fan first, but I bought this computer for some of my Windows-based Software Engineering classes. I was very surprised that I liked this computer as much as I did. The battery lasts a really long time, it's fast, and it's super light. The computer has an expensive feel and I love what they did with the Signature Alcantara. It makes it easy to use the computer for hours on end, without your palms or your wrists hurting. I would recommend this computer!

    Well built and gorgeous notebook

I have spent a few days with this laptop and I must say that it is a gorgeous laptop. The surface laptop 2 is the perfect laptop for most people. It is a great device for everyday use to work in MS Office, check email, webs surfing and some moderate video or photo editing. I purchased this laptop for my work needs and it covers all areas that I need it for. I has the SP6 and while I loved that device, this was the better fit for me. I loved the experience that I had with the surface pro 6, it was fast, light, portable and versitile. However, when I removed it from my 27" HP monitor, it showed its one real drawback. The screen size! The screen is gorgeous and amazing to look at, however, when using MS Office the lack of screen size makes everyday use a bit challenging. I needed something that was just a portable as the SP6 and offered the same gorgeous display in an elegant design. That is where the Surface Laptop 2 comes in. I love the 3:2 aspect ratio screen and the 13" is perfect when wanting to work at a coffee shop on the couch. You just get so much more viewing area and that to me was enough to make the switch to the Surface Laptop 2. The performance is the same as the SP6 and I have experienced slightly better battery life with the SL2. The alcantara keyboard is holding up well, although this is something that I am going to be very cautious about since I purchased the silver model. I just loved the color and design on this color SL2 over the black, blue and burgundy. Only time will tell how the alcantara will hold up and from my extensive reviews, it should hold up just fine. The typing experience on the SL2 is just far better then what I was experiencing on the SP6. The keyboard is solid and has great key travel, it feels just well build and makes sending emails and using MS Office just a joy. I did like the SP6 type cover, although after using it for over two weeks, I just hated the hollow sound that keyboard made. I am always on the phone and my clients could hear me typing when I was taking notes. It is a small annoyance, but enough for me to consider the SL2 typing experience. The speakers are also a huge plus on the SL2. They are LOUD!! Sound amazing and I find myself playing music on here more than on any other device I have (bluetooth speaker or iphone). So far, I am incredibly happy with my purchase of the SL2 laptop. I am looking forward to using it extensively for work and personal use. Another reason why I went with the SL2 over the SP6 was that I was hearing rumors that the SP6 was going to get a major refresh in 2019. I could see that happening as the form factor of the surface pro has been mainly unchanged for a number of years now. The SP6 could use thinner bezels, updated ports and a slightly better typecover/typing experience. With that said, it was another reason for me to switch to the SL2 over the SP6. I will look to buy a new Surface Pro device once it is refreshed as I loved it that much, but for right now in 2018, the SL2 just made more sense for me. I can't wait to see what else Microsoft has up its sleeve in 2019.

I love this laptop! It's my first laptop purchase after over 7 years. I like how lightweight it is. I use it for school, it's an easy use. Touche screen adds a nice feature to it. I'd recommend getting a case immediately if you're clumsy like me. It charges very fast, battery life is great. I traveled with it in a day and still had efficient battery life to get work done. I didn't care that it doesn't flip around. Great investment.

I purchased this for work. I needed something light and portable. I was very happy with the specs for the price. I wanted something that was powerful enough that I wouldn't feel like I was sacrificing anything just to get an ultrabook. The screen is great, it's bright enough for my usage and I find the resolution just fine. The aspect ratio is great for productivity. I do enjoy typing on the keyboard. It's trackpad is good, nowhere near as good as a Macbook Pro; but that's a given. The backlight is excellent and the keys travel is much more satisfying than the newer Macbook Pro's. The big reason for this purchase is the quad core processor. I don't need lots of power for daily use but it's nice to have. 128gb might be too small for some but for me it's just right. I do wish it had an SD card slot like the Surface Pro but I knew that before buying and could always store anything on an external drive. The battery life is great. I get above 8-9 hours of usage out of it. I love Windows Hello. It's fast and nice to not have to type a password. This computer isn't well suited as a touch screen device. If that is important to you then the Surface Pro is a better option. I don't use the touchscreen and don't plan on using it anytime soon. It works and is functional but since this a traditional laptop, it's not ideal for using it as you would a tablet or phone. Lastly this is not recommended for anyone wanting to game on it. It's got an Intel graphics card and would probably only play the least graphic intensive games. You could probably play Fortnite at a very low resolution and with all the settings set to low and still only get 15-20fps. For the price I paid $899 I am very happy. It's well made and has just the right amount of specs for my liking. I wanted a light and powerful laptop that I can take anywhere and not have to be tethered to an outlet. Plus the face that it's a Microsoft device and not a third party there is no bloatware. If you need Windows 10 Pro or really want to utilize the touch screen, I recommend the Surface Pro 6. For me this is what I wanted and needed and nothing else.

Excellent laptop! Great build quality, display, battery, and speakers. I love everything about this computer. I with there was a USB type C on it but its a small trade off in comparison to what you are getting. I love the 3:2 aspect ratio for productivity. I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone who is looking for a light weight, portable, and fast laptop.

I’ve owned an XPS for the past several years and didn’t think I would ever buy anything else. The Surface 2 changed my mind. From the battery life and the beautiful touch screen to the smooth running processor, this pc is legit. The cost sealed it for me being $400 less than the touchscreen XPS.

I bought this for school and it is definitely worth! I love the how sleek and compact it is, along with how different it is with the material it is made of (although I sometimes get cautious about my fingerprints staining or anything else that may not wipe off). It is touchscreen as well, works fast, backlight keyboard, and there’s nothing confusing about to how to use. The clicking of the touchpad (actually pressing on it) is not weird either, like some laptops that feel like the whole pad is coming down with it. I am very particular about my keyboard buttons too (no stiffness or being really flat) so I am glad that was not an issue to the perfect laptop.

Bought this for my fiancee for a Master's program she's doing since her old one finally bit the dust. This is a really smooth and well balanced laptop. The keys feel really nice, the screen is absolutely gorgeous, the laptop itself is really light and easy to handle. The Alcantera cover is super soft and nice to the touch, and the trackpad is large which I personally enjoy. The specs for this are really good for someone who needs power but isnt a power user. 8GB of RAM really is what most people need for the basics and can run most programs out there. The Intel i5 gets the job done quick but every now and again has some stuttering issues when you switch between programs, if you have a bunch of them running at once, or if you have a bunch of Google Chrome tabs open at once as well. So far, there haven't been anything that I've noticed with this laptop that would give me pause or make me not recommend it to someone.

Love this Surface Laptop! Very fast and just powerful enough for all the things I need to do. I did have an issue when I first powered it up with windows 10 taking forever to load. I did some research and found it was a problem with a setting in windows and it seems to be a problem with some preloaded windows 10. I watched a YouTube video on how to change the setting and now it works perfectly. Definitely the best laptop I’ve owned.

I got this device for my mom who is going back to school to finish her life long dream of finishing her degree. She doesn't like "complicated" with the 2 in 1 features and wanted something simple but still powerful and durable. This laptop is exactly that. She started using the touch screen and really likes it but overall she really lives the keyboard and the lightweight but durable build of the laptop. I'm definitely going to be getting one when my laptop dies. 10/10 reccomend for anyone who needs lightweight and durability.

The Surface Laptop 2 is by far the best device I have got ahold of. With its 3:2 aspect ratio on a 13.5" panel, its perfect for anyone. Windows Hello is fast and efficent. The Alcantara lined keyboard is super comfortable and I can honestly say that I can type on this for hours. I also appreciate the design itself. This laptop is a direct competitior to the Macbook series and the Surface Laptop 2 is way better.
