Pros: Small, works with most apps. Cons: Poor quality. had it for 7 months and charger failed, does not charge the unit. Need to take it in. covered under warranty but its still a hassle. Googled it and apparently its a common problem.

Very frigile power supply cable on purpose

My power supply cord stopped working after one year of purchase. The cord is not bent anywhere or frayed so there was no poor lack of care on my Part. Besides, i've had two Sony Vaio laptop before that lasted me around 5 years each and I never had any problems with the power supply. Microsoft makes their cords this frigile so that one has to keep buying new cables wich are very expensive since they cannot be disconnected from the battery charger. Please do not buy this computer.

    Designed For Obsolescence

After about a year and a half of minimal use, the battery became swollen and not safe to continue use. The laptop is not designed to be serviceable and there is no way to open it up without destroying it so your only recourse will be to replace the laptop completely no matter if you are in or out of warranty. I don't recommend this laptop unless you are completely ok with buying a new laptop if you ever need to replace the old one.

    Regret this purchase

I had very high hopes for this laptop, I wanted to give Microsoft a chance. I have been a Mac user for the last 5 years. This laptop since I have purchased it in August have given me nothing but trouble. It is supposed to have an i5 processor but it will lag while trying to load youtube videos. I know my internet connection is not faulty because my mac is able to load the videos HD with no issue. In addition to that the surface will not charge to 100% it always stays at 99% no matter how long it is plugged in. Lastly, there are these weird fingerprint like marks that will not come out of the finish, even when I follow all of these care instructions. I am so disappointed with this product I would highly recommend a different brand all together, I had higher expectations for a laptop that cost me $1200, if there is a way to return it I would. When I was in the market for a laptop I wanted something different than my Mac Air and I thought this was a sleek looking alternative, but I highly regret my decision and I just wish I bought a new Mac because the problems with this laptop frustrates me so much I barely use it.

    Do NOT buy

This computer is absolutely awful, please do not buy it. I bought this computer for MBA school after strongly debating replacing my old Mac with a new one. However, since I knew I would be using excel somewhat frequently, I decided I was better off with a windows product and settled on this laptop after reading a number of reviews online. I purchased the laptop in the beginning of September and have had nothing but problems. The first laptop had so many issues it ended up needing to be replaced, which cost me a lot of time at the Surface store and at Best Buy. The new one now encounters a PC error and then goes into a UEFI loop. i currently have a deadline for tomorrow and my laptop is showing a black screen. Surface support has not been helpful. Worst investment I’ve made- I completely regret this purchase decision.

    Slow Slow Slow

This is my third Surface Laptop 2 in the past two weeks. The first one had really bad bleed through on the bottom of the screen, and the last two were so terribly slow, just opening documents was too much for this machine. The only upside is that it has great sound. Otherwise a big piece of garbage. I don't know why people think this is such a great computer, check out Microsoft, the reviews don't add up to what Best Buy reviews say. I think Best Buy has people put good reviews in to get people to think this product is great! Don't Purchase This Laptop! or you can, its your time and money.

Watch out Windows 10 Home OS

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My black slt2 came with Windows 10 Home so watch out. There should be W10 Pro versions out there buy Best Buy doesn't have them yet. And yeah when you dig wayyyy down in the tech details you can see this version does say home. I have bought 50+ surface devices from Best Buy and they all have pro or S(which you can upgrade to pro) so bad on me for not reading through all the specs. Bad on best buy for not putting this product OS in the description. I certainly would not recommend this product version to a friend. Come on Best Buy change my mind.....

      Hello,

We're sorry to hear you are struggling with adjusting to Windows 10 Home. We work very hard to make sure our product descriptions are very transparent. We have listed under Surface Laptop 2 at Best Buy that with Windows 10 Home, you'll experience fast start-ups, a familiar yet expanded Start menu, and great new ways to get stuff done. With automatic updates enabled, you get all the latest features and security hassle-free.

If you wish to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, this is certainly an option you can easily switch to. Find out how here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12384/windows-10-upgrading-home-to-pro.

If you are encountering difficulties, or would like to provide us with more feedback, we are eager to listen, and hopefully help you love your device. We have gone ahead and let our specialized care team know that you may be reaching out, and they are ready to listen! Please feel free to reach out by filing a ticket here: aka.ms/SurfaceCare-us. Be sure to use your unique reference ID number: 1810237500132.
