It feels plasticky; screen is unstable when unplugged.

Still in great shape and used by my wife after 4 years. She switched from the Lenovo X1 Carbon with doubts, but once on board, she loved it and never had a single issue with the hardware. I would recommend slightly more memory or newer processor models for today's AI business tasks, but for Windows lovers, as well as those Mac lovers who'd like to explore a different design and better processing capabilities, the Surface product line is certainly the way to go.

Works like a charm even after 3 years of moderate usage. Can handle lots of different tasks like programming, video editing, excel, etc. Great compact and light design. Would highly recommend.

Before reading, I have gone from MacOS to PC, to ChromeOS, to iPadOS, back to PC. I use macOS for personal use and PC for work. Before arriving at the choice of the Surface Laptop 3 I was actually considering going back to ChromeOS, namely the PixelBook Go. When I couldn't get the PixelBook Go on time, then I reconsidered PC. I have owned the Surface Laptop 3, but the base model 128GB model. The device was great, but then I switched to the Surface Pro 7 because I thought I wanted something a little more portable. However, what I found with both the Surface Pro and iPad, was that I kept trying to turn both those tablets into a Laptop. After remembering that, I remembered enjoying the Surface Laptop 3 and with the choice, I would be able to use it as both a Chromebook and PC. Most of my work is done or can be done by the browser. The Edge Browser, with the mixture of Chromium, makes the device ideal for me. Using a PC as a Chromebook, not only takes stress off the device but keeps the fan from kicking on. The fan noise on this device is very quiet, to begin with. The only time I have ever heard it coming on is when I have installed updates to the device. I do not use the device for editing, 3D modeling, or anything intensive. I use my personal MBA for that with the exception of 3D modeling. I went with the SL3 Matte Black for the SSD storage and the color. I just love the device in the black when compared to platinum. The typing experience is awesome. the screen does flicker but if you install the intel graphics app from the windows store, it does go away. I also love the variety of ports as the USB type C works perfectly with my USB type C monitor and am able to charge and extend the laptop display all with one chord. When comparing the device to the Surface Pro 7. I found that I had prefered the Surface Laptop due to the bigger screen, so that when I am away from my desk I still have enough screen realestate. Second, I prefer the Surface Laptop 3 over the Surface Pro 7 because of the keyboard. The Type cover you get with the Surface Pro 7 is no slouch, however The keyboard on the Surface Laptop is a lot more sturdy and provides better feedback. Lastly, who I would recommend this device for is someone who is always on the go, someone who works remote, a student, and someone who does not need a graphically intense device. This device by definition is an ultrabook. It does not have the strongest CPU or GPU. You can get away with light gaming, like Minecraft and Fortnite at medium settings. If you are thinking ChromeBook, I would buy this in a heartbeat, especially if you are considering the Pixelbook Go.

I could not love this laptop more. When I was in the market for a laptop, I was moving between this one and a macbook. After testing out a friend's for a week, I decided to get the Surface, and I am so glad that I did. I am an educator, so I use my laptop 12 hours a day almost every day of the week. When traveling, I use it to stream movies and shows. I have never had an issue with it freezing, slowing down, or acting wonky. This laptop has withstood multiple drops, daily transport, and 3 whole years a wear and tear (and that counts teaching online in 2020). When I decide to buy another laptop, without a doubt, I will get the newest model of the Microsoft Surface.

Very good laptop for my college career, took writing papers, watching lectures, and doing research like a champ. Only gripe is that it overheats very quickly which isn't the best for 6 hour writing sessions.

This is a great laptop. Did exactly what I needed it to do, and when combined with the surface doc, am able to connect it to multiple monitors. Also love the touchscreen!

I bought this for my MBA program, it is a good choice. The speed is good for what I need, and light weight. I bought a stylus pen later.

Laptop is great overall. It's a bit pricey for the components it has, but the build quality makes up for it. The big issue I had (seems many other users have also had) is the buzzing noise coming from under the keyboard. The noise is loud enough that you can clearly hear it in a quiet room. This got very annoying while studying for exams in the library. I decided to return it and get a new one, since I thought it was an issue with my particular device. I was wrong, the next one I had seemed to have the exact same sound. This seems to be a flaw in the SL3. Microsoft has not tried to remedy this issue, however Best Buy's return policy is great. I decided to return the second one and bought an XPS 13 with much better specs for the same price. If you are not bothered by buzzing noises by all means get this laptop, but if you have sensitive ears like myself, BEWARE!!!!
