Customers are satisfied with the Surface Laptop 3's lightweight design, ease of use, and keyboard quality. Many appreciate its portability and sleek aesthetics, while some find the battery life to be a positive feature. However, concerns exist regarding the price point, potential overheating issues, and a limited number of USB ports. A few users also noted that the fan can be noisy at times.

I am starting school after having never been in school since graduating high school a few decades ago and I found myself needing a new laptop. As a capper to all this, I find myself in two school programs, one for a BS in Business Administration and another for a certificate in theology. I have worked in IT, mostly desktop support for small businesses, for over 20 years and am pretty familiar with SOHO-type business needs and usually buy my gear accordingly. I have been using a 17.5" laptop for a few years now and have been very happy with it, but it is not terribly portable and takes up a lot of room on cramped desks and tables. I am also something of a "Horsepower snob" and hate waiting for a device. As a result, I was rather skeptical of the Surface products due to screen size on the Pro's and processor/RAM combinations in an affordable price range in the laptops. Let's just say that I have been pleasantly surprised at my Surface Laptop 13.5. The screen size is in fact adequate for writing papers and the keyboard is well laid out. The i5 quad-core is adequate to the task of Office apps (Word etc.) and while I wouldn't want to have to massage a large database on it, it will handle day-to-day needs quite well. I also use a beast of a program called Logos for theological studies that indexes thousands of resources. While it does slow a tad when indexing it is entirely acceptable and once the indexing completes, work is seamless. The screen resolution is razor sharp and highly readable, adding a USB external monitor gives me all the screen real estate I need for bigger projects and the combined package is easily portable. Even without the external monitor I can easily research and write papers, I was pleasantly surprised at how workable the screen size is, even after using a 17+" screen for years. I don't use the touchscreen feature much, being the "Old-school" guy that I am, but it does work and is accurate. Battery life is outstanding, I can work all day and not worry about being tied to a power outlet. The quad-core, dual-threaded i5 is sufficiently adequate for processing needs and Windows 10 plays nicely in 8 GB of RAM. While the 16 GB model would be nice (More is always better right?) the cost differential is a bit much for me to justify as a student and as I mentioned, 8GB is sufficient. The 256 GB of storage is adequate for the OS as well as a full installation of Office. two accounts for OneDrive with hundreds of documents each, Kindle with a couple hundred books, Logos 8 Silver with about 600 books and Google Drive with plenty of room left over. The Alcantara keyboard is pleasant to type on and the touchpad is sufficiently sensitive without being obnoxiously sensitive. I don't even know if this has a fan in it, it stays cool under load and is dead quiet, so I never cared to check. The finish is high quality and looks great, although it can show a fingerprint or two now and again; nothing a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth can't take care of. While it does come with the standard games etc. from Microsoft, there is not a lot of bloatware and the games and so forth can be easily dealt with via a right click and "Uninstall". My only quibble is that I wish it came with Windows 10 Pro, but that is easily addressed with a quick trip to the Microsoft App Store. I would not hesitate to recommend a Surface Laptop 3 13.5 to any student or the vast majority of business users. For home use it is more than adequate.

Having owned a surface pro tablet for 4 years i was excited to buy a surface pro laptop. Unfortunatly this thing has been a giant headache since i got it. Constantly over heating. Usb port for a mouse is on the leaving it sometimes unreliable in how the mouse picks up signal. You cannot charge it and use it or it overheats. Prolonged use…overheats. It sucks. I wanted to like this very badly and i just dont. For the cost this should be a perfect functioning product and it has a long long way to go. I would not reccomend buying this product at all.

We purchased two of this model and they did not perform as expected. Both have been back at BesBuy for hardware issue and odd software issue. One required replacement but BestBuy did not have it. We got store credit.

This has been a decent laptop. Had to get a replacement from Microsoft one month before warranty expired due to the keyboard no longer working. Not worth the 1k price tag.

I wanted to love this laptop, but with the first 24 hours, it froze more than once and when it went to sleep I couldn't get it to wake. I found myself searching online for the right combination of keys to hold, in order to wake it back up.

Nice but screen seemed a little subpar for a surface. I had 3 different ones of same model. All had different screen tint and slightly washed out blacks on text. Ultimately, all i5s had coil whine and got returned

I think this is an ok laptop. It is very slim making it feel to me like it is very fragile and would not last long. To me it is not very sturdy. I really would like to see a laptop this price made like MacBook with all aluminum.
