While the Microsoft Surface laptop 7 uses 2230 SSD size that is replaceable, upgradable and most important of all, you can still have a functional laptop. If you're looking for a macbook like Windows laptop that has a macbook like trackpad with haptics, a great keyboard, great screen, great battery life and great performance, and most important of all, repairability. Not sure why the other reviews were so negative - maybe different expectations? - but I used 15% battery browsing the internet for 2-2.5 hours, which is about equal to expectations. After the initial updates the laptop is quiet and very fast - yes, some programs don't work fully, so if you have programs you absolutely need to run, doublecheck first! - but everything I need works, and the experience is very Macbook-esque (just with a working camera login system and with an ingenious system to remove the bottom by removing detachable rubber feet - so you can upgrade storage very easily). I wasn't expecting copilot to do anything and am honestly kind of relieved it was removed for the release (for now ...). If you're looking for a snapdragon laptop this should be it, and it should probably be considered highly if you're looking for a laptop for general tasks.

This laptop feels pretty premium and can do everything you need it to do on the day to day. Battery is amazing and the 120hz display makes everything feel so smooth even if it isn't always consistent. My only gripe is that I cannot download Google Drive or Quick Share since they do not support the arm64 architecture on this device.

Great laptop! Love the look and feel the newer Surface devices and the display is excellent as always. The battery life on these new Snapdragon processors is amazing and excellent performance! Really happy with where Microsoft is taking the new Surface line.

Microsoft has finally done it! I use the laptop to connect to various work servers by using Citrix workspace. Laptop is connected to an external LG42” 4K display by using an HDMI to USB-C cable. Battery lasts the whole 8 hours with 45% left at the end of the work day. Laptop runs cool and I don’t hear the fan at all even when the laptop gets pushed. I am a heavy Mac user but I am considering windows once again due to this new comer. Good work so far!

I bought this for my uncle he absolutely liked it. He is not a big fan of MacBooks however this laptop is very close to MacBook in terms of design, performance, appearance. This is just amazing.

So its great MS is pushing ARM64 more as the battery life is much better (to bad they didn't stick with Nvidia from SurfaceRT days). BUT the battery life is way worse than MacBook Air M3 in real world use cases. Also Win11 is sluggish compared to macOS in many ways, from opening file explorer app, to just scrolling pages in general. Also Mac keep better battery on sleep so you're left with more when you need to use computer again. Also almost no one is publishing to ARM64 still for some crazy reason while that is starting to change. That said, this computer is pretty good BUT you should never enable Copilot-Recall if you plan on using this.

The good: The Battery life of this laptop is great when using it for simple browsing and streaming, I get an average of 12 - 13 hours of battery life. Although this is not what’s advertised it is much better than I usually get with others windows laptops. The trackpad and the keyboard are also decent although there isn’t much key travel. The Bad: there isn’t much wrong with this laptop. The screen could be better but it’s a decently bright display so it makes up for not being an OLED. Also since this isn’t an x86 cpu not every program runs perfectly, but as long as you know what you use runs on arm or through the translation it works well.

TLDR; it's a win Don't understand any of the hate on this device it's honestly pretty amazing. I'm a diehard Mac user, I've been spoiled by their ARM laptops for years. This laptop honestly made me lowkey fall in love with Windows again. The Snapdragon X Series of chips are no joke. Windows feels snappier than ever, battery life is amazing, app compatibility is OK but it will get better. Microsoft just knows how to build a laptop. The quality is on par with the M series of MacBooks. Excited to see how these devices evolve as the software improves. So, if you're in the market for an all-around snappy, responsive, long lasting, and well-built laptop, look no further.

First one returned won't turn on the second day. Second one never arrived and I got a refund. Third one in one week I went to the Cerritos store and got one. The laptop is ai computer. It is good with the speed and touch screen is fluid. Very smooth. I would give 10 if the first one didnt give me trouble.

The touch screen is awesome. I like how fast the computer is and its simplicity. It has greatly helped me especially now that I am in college again at 50 years of age.

Pros: Excellent screen Good processor speed Cool and quite Good battery life Cons: 1. Quality control, the first unit I bought doesn't sit flat when the lid is open. The second unit is much better. 2. Maybe some firmware issues, the touchpad sometimes has weird acceleration and jumps around. If you search online this is a pretty widespread issue since launch. 3. The glass has no gasket around it, it feels fraigile.

Great laptop to own. I have purchased Surface products off and on through the years and i have to say this 7th generation of Surface Laptop that Microsoft nailed it!!! I enjoy the battery life, CPU performance and find the Copilot experience very exciting. I’d say to those who have their doubts, try it out at your local Best Buy today, I know you will be sold quickly. $999 for this kind of sheer performance is insane for the money.

I love that it has a backlight keyboard now! Very smooth and the screen size looks very nice with the Retina display. Keyboard feels good to type on and the copilot button makes the ai function much easier to access
