The Microsoft Surface laptop is excatly what i was looking for my needs. Easy to carry it around beacuse of the light weight. It is thing so it fit in my bag perfectly. I can use while i am ridding the train , at the office and the collage. The battery life is amazing. It last for more than 20 hours. I dont have to worry charging it often. I can be any where and if i have internet i get a fast connection. I am very happy with it and i could not have made a better choice. Its amazing and i love it.

My, this is a very small laptop. It is quite thin and light at a little less than 2.5 lbs. It can easily be handled in one hand –including opening the lid, which I totally appreciate. I received the “Platinum” color option, and I must say that previously this would not have been my color of choice, but once I looked at it, it’s hard not to truly admire it and be pleased with it. The lid and keyboard faceplate are made of aluminum and feel very premium and cool to the touch. The finish can attract some fingerprints, especially the reflective logo, but nothing a quick wipe-down won’t help. Interestingly, the bottom is made of plastic. Although I would’ve liked to have the entire body made of aluminum, the plastic seems of good quality and does not negatively affect the overall design. There are also some rubber feet for added stability. This is one laptop that can truly be used on top of one’s lap comfortably with no balance issues (or overheating).
I have always liked Surface keyboards, and this is no exception. The keys have decent travel, are very quiet, responsive, and tactile. Although this is a small deck, there is good spacing which helped my typing accuracy. Unfortunately, there is no keyboard lighting, making it almost impossible for me to type in medium to dark conditions. There is also a power button that doubles as a fingerprint reader for signing in. I had to reset it a couple of times, but once I had it well set, it was always a breeze to sign in. The well-sized Windows precision trackpad feels smooth, is quite responsive, and clicky.
The laptop features a USB-C port, which can be used for charging -no thunderbolt option though. I was glad to see a USB-A and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the left side. On the right side, we have the power connect port. It also features Wi-Fi 6 for future-proofing and 5.0 Bluetooth connectivity.
Although the screen is only 12.4”, it has an aspect ratio of 3:2 and thin bezels, which make it seem much larger and is great for web surfing, writing emails, and typing documents. The screen can get moderately bright at 300 nits and the colors are very well represented and vibrant. However, I was a little disappointed that this has a resolution of only 1536 x 1024 (148 PPI) which is slightly less than 1080p. Also, if you are watching widescreen content, be prepared to see sizable bars on the top and bottom. Having said this, the screen, which features a full touch display, still looks amazing at normal viewing distances.
The 720p camera is acceptable for video conferencing. However, one must have good lighting as it can get quite grainy in dark settings. The microphones are very, very good. They were able to pick my voice at a good 10ft clearly.
This laptop can produce loud, clear sound. However, as with almost every laptop out there, there is really no bass. No surprise there.
What about actual performance? I am happy to say that this particular model, which features a 10th Gen Intel® Core™ i5 processor (1035G1), with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM is very capable of handling some productivity projects, open a large number of tabs, and watch some videos all at the same time. Of course, I would not go and try to do video rendering, heavy photoshopping, or 3-D work on it. This is not what this laptop was designed for. I am using the default Windows 10 Home in S mode, which is a toned-down version that optimizes performance on this hardware. However, this can be changed to Windows Pro easily, should you need to install more demanding software. So far, I did not need to switch as I am enjoying this OS as is. This model also comes with a 248GB SSD, which is fast enough and gives me enough space for my productivity use. Sadly, this laptop cannot be upgraded in any way, so I would recommend considering that when choosing a model.
Now, this laptop is not for gaming, in case anyone wants to know. While you can play some easy-going games, there is just not enough graphical and CPU power to do so. However, if you still want to play AAA titles on this laptop, you can always sign up for a gaming streaming service, which I was able to successfully do and enjoy.
In the end, I am extremely impressed with Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Go. Although it can be a bit pricey, I would strongly recommend considering this specific tier model. The ultra-portability, gorgeous design, great screen, amazing keyboard, and build quality provides a great value for students, teachers, and people who like to move around the house or just like to work at your favorite coffee shop.

Technology is always changing and now more than ever before, people find themselves in need of better computers. This amazing laptop from Microsoft has the power to provide support for students as well as business people while staying compact and having a sleek design.
I want to start this review by saying that this computer is designed for basic productivity-style performance. It does have 8GB of RAM, which is enough to support video chatting and standard office-style tasks like word processing and mild design work, but it’s not enough to be efficient for a video editor or heavy graphic designer. That said, I found the Surface Laptop Go to be a very capable machine for basic activities.
The design of this laptop is stunning. There are three color options for this laptop model - sandstone, platinum, and ice blue. I have the ice blue version. It’s a cool, sleek color that is subtle while still drawing attention. When its lid is closed, the laptop is very thin and compact. I’m used to a 15-inch laptop, but I frequently use a 12-inch tablet and my fiance uses a 13-inch laptop as her daily driver. At first glance, my initial response to its size was, “Wow, this is a small computer.” Once my fiance had it open and working on it, she didn’t have any complaints about its size. And again, if you are doing standard productivity-style tasks like answering emails, word processing, and even spreadsheet editing, the size is somewhat irrelevant. The keyboard has a very soft feel to it and it’s a joy to use. Keys are very well spaced out and I didn’t find myself mistyping much.
This laptop was designed to be minimalistic. There are only four ports on it -- the charging port, one USB-C port, one USB-A port, and a headphone jack. Now even though the headphone jack is included, the laptop is Bluetooth capable so you can connect headphones in that way, too. The laptop is touch-screen compatible so you can operate it as a hybrid machine (tablet/laptop), but the screen does not fold flat against the back of the laptop. I find the hybrid operation quite helpful.
The screen resolution is 1536 x 1024. It’s not a premium screen, but with this being a ‘basic’ level laptop, it’s more than ideal for this machine. I did quite a bit of typing and regular tasks on the laptop and never had a problem with clarity or visibility. One thing I’m not a big fan of with this laptop design-wise is the charger. It’s a two-part power cable and adapter. The cable has a proprietary connector that plugs into the laptop and it’s connected to a brick, which is similar in size to other laptop power adapters. Now, even though it comes with an enormous power adapter/cable since the laptop has a USB-C port, it can receive power through that port as well. I tested this out with a USB-C cable and wall adapter I had available and was able to charge the laptop.
As far as performance goes, the laptop starts up very quickly and registers my fingerprint within about a second. I opted to work through a cloud-based word processor and didn’t have any issues with the laptop slowing down or being tripped up by that process. I opened up 9 tabs in my browser and had 9 streams of 4K video playing simultaneously while I was working on a document in another tab and I had my cloud-storage drive open in an 11th tab. The laptop did not seem to slow down at all. The Surface Laptop Go does come with Windows 10 installed in “S Mode.” This is really a sandboxed version of Windows 10 in my opinion. It gives you the operating system with limited functionality. It does not allow for external applications to be able to be installed. While this mode might be good for someone who does not understand the basics of how to keep your computer safe from outside downloads, it’s a little bit of a hassle to work with if you want to customize your experience at all. I wanted to download an alternative browser. I had to take the computer out of S Mode, which is a free process, but irreversible, in order to download that one program. This is just a feature that users should be aware of as they set-up their laptop.
Battery life seems to be pretty strong. The specs of the machine state that a user should be able to get approximately 13 hours of activity out of the laptop when it’s got a full charge. I did not use the laptop for 13 hours straight, but after I made sure it had a full charge, I did find that after about 30 minutes, only 4% of the battery had been drained. That means that I was getting an average charging rate of around 0.13% per minute. When you use that charging rate and multiply it by 780 (13 hours converted to minutes), you get a total of 101.4. Now, that is of course slightly more than 100%, but it’s a close enough average that I can say that the 13-hour estimated battery life is accurate.
One other thing I noticed while using the laptop was the heat collection on the bottom. I was using it on a flat surface and I noticed that while the laptop was plugged into a power source (either using the provided power cable/adapter or the USB-C cable), the bottom of the laptop near the hinge did get quite hot. The power button also gets quite warm. I think this is a charging issue though because when I started using the laptop unplugged, it was much cooler.
The Surface Laptop Go is a very strong laptop for someone who needs an ultra-portable, performance-driven machine. It’s lightweight, very easy to travel with, and it has the power to complete most standard tasks. I can recommend this for most types of users (business, educational, or personal), but wouldn’t recommend it for creative professionals.

I love my laptop! It came in great use when I started college. If you’re someone who keeps track of files and what’s being downloaded onto the computer, the storage shouldn’t be a problem! I also have my computer turn off on me and not turn back on. The trick is to hold the power off button (Microsoft button ) until it turns back on. Other than that, I love it!

This is the perfect laptop for school and/or work. It feels so high end to me but has a very affordable price. It amazes me how lightweight it is, the size makes it so convenient to bring with me anywhere I go. The battery lasts all day even when I'm constantly streaming videos, movies, and music along with browsing the web for hours at a time.
Pros:
-Beautiful design
-Super lightweight
-Extremely thin
-Very portable
-Long lasting battery life
-Quick to charge
-Fingerprint login works great
-Setup with Cortana made everything very easy and simple
-Great price point - affordable
-Responsive touch screen
Cons:
-Max Brightness isn't as high as I'd like
-Does not have a backlit keyboard
-Can only handle basic tasks (not built for gaming)
-Fan can be a bit loud at times

Any college students out there looking for a new laptop? Or maybe a laptop for your grandparents or child? This laptop may be for them or you! Microsoft ‘s Surface Laptop Go is built for the basics but for many, that is all that is needed. The Surface Go provides ultra portability like no other and has some interesting features and design choices that may make this your new laptop.
=====================================
DESIGN:
The Surface Go is beautifully designed. The sleek style, ice blue matte finish adds a sense of quality to this laptop. My favorite parts of the Surface Go are the keyboard and trackpad. The keys are smooth to the touch and quiet. So, for those people who stay up all night typing, you won’t have to worry about anyone hearing all your typing! The trackpad is also smooth to the touch and large, but I found the large trackpad a great design choice as it adds more space to play around with. Unfortunately, the keyboard is not backlit so be ready to have the lights on when typing in the dark.
The Surface Go has a 12.4-inch screen that isn’t the best quality but is fair at this price point. The bezels are thin which I found enhanced the viewing experience for all my media. I found the Surface Go to be extremely portable and lightweight. Only 2.5 Pounds! I placed this in my backpack and could barely feel any weight on my back compared to other laptops. The charger also was easily portable and small. Most laptops have large chargers but this one was small enough where it could easily fit in a bag. The charger is a typical Surface charger where there is a magnetic charge connector that easily snaps onto the charging port. I’m a big fan of USB-C charging and this laptop also supports USB-C charging but hopefully, Microsoft continues with this design as I like how the cable doesn’t stick out compared to other chargers.
=====================================
PERFORMANCE:
The Surface Go can be customized with different sizes of RAM and storage. This unit came with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD storage. The SSD allows for a faster boot-up time and quicker performance. I mentioned that this laptop is for the basics, these specs are not for AAA games or the 3D rendering of models but rather for basic word processing, media consumption, light gaming, and other tasks that don’t require a lot of power. I have used the Surface Go for a couple of days now, and it has performed extremely well with the tasks I have put it through.
I’ve used it for word processing, watching online lectures, typing up notes, media consumption, and even some Minecraft. I had no problems running these tasks while using the laptop. I did place the Surface Go to a test by purposely have dozens of tabs open in my browser while running other memory heavy programs and the laptop’s fans did end up going crazy but besides that, a normal user shouldn’t have any problems running their programs on here. I was surprised that the Surface Go ran games smoothly. Of course, these won’t be heavy games, but games such as Minecraft or Among Us the Surface Go should be able to run these well.
The battery life of the Surface Go depends on what you are doing with it. Microsoft claims 13 hours of battery life. I was a bit disappointed as I could not get this much out of the laptop most days. Granted, I had my brightness almost at max and had multiple tabs and programs open most of the time, so the 13 hours of battery life was unlikely on my end. But if you are going to be doing light tasks on this, such as browsing the web or word processing, the battery life will likely last longer for you.
=====================================
FEATURES:
The Surface Go comes with Windows 10 Home S Mode. S Mode is a limited version of Windows 10 that provides you with enhanced security and protection from malware. You won’t be able to download apps from the web and use other developing tools. You will only be allowed to install applications from the Microsoft Store. I am not a big fan of this but can see this being helpful for someone who doesn’t know much about computers and is susceptible to being hurt online such as an older person or a child. S Mode is optional, so I decided to switch to normal Windows 10 Home since I needed more functionality from Windows. Beware, this is a one-way process, so if you get out of S Mode you will not be able to get back into it again. I would have preferred a way to have a switch that enabled/disabled S Mode so if there are times when someone else needs to use the laptop, I can easily enable it for them.
The laptop does have a touch screen; the screen works with display pens wonderfully. But it is a bit difficult to use since the display is upright and opening it completely up and drawing something on it isn’t probably the safest nor most comfortable. I felt Microsoft could have implemented a 2-in-1 with this laptop for a bit more cash.
The Surface Go also has a fingerprint sign-in on the power button. It is quick and easy to use. It lights up letting you know when it is ready. A great design and user-friendly choice by Microsoft!
=====================================
CONCLUSION:
Overall, if you are someone looking for a laptop that does the basics with ultra-portability in mind, I would recommend the Surface Go. The Surface Go is perfect for the average college student who needs it for homework or even your grandparent or child who has limited knowledge of operating a computer. This laptop is for them. The portability, sleek style, and performance are some of the reasons to go with the Surface Go.

It does everything that I need it to do. I love the size (very on the go-ish), the color is amazing, and it does everything that I need it to do and much more. I like the touchscreen option as well. This is my first Microsoft laptop and it has exceeded my expectations, though I’m not too fond of the S Mode feature so I took it off.

This laptop is great and works perfectly fine without any issues, however, I bought this laptop Nov 13, 2021, and I only had it for a week and I am noticing a couple of things happening to the laptop such as a random black screen, not charging properly or at all, and the sound not working as well. Because of these issues, I will be returning the laptop for another Microsoft Surface Laptop Go and I hoping that the next one I get won't come with any issues. Other than that this laptop is great for college students much like myself. Also, the battery life could be better!

We bought this laptop for our 12 year old daughter for Christmas. My husband was set on this laptop because of the Microsoft brand , the memory space and lastly the look. He wanted something for her that had great functionality first but also felt young and hip for her. This laptop is something that corporate America operates with so why not get her started at an early age . The laptop is light weight , with a nice sleek keyboard and mouse pad . The color of the laptop is beautiful , looks like a rose gold color even though that’s not the name of the color. The charger is magnetic and is easy to attach. The screen is a touch screen and is very sleek. She’s had it 2 days only but so far it excellent. Would highly recommend this to others.

The Microsoft Surface 4 was just not the right computer for me nor did I feel that it justified the $1,381 price tag. I watched dozens of videos on YouTube while contemplating the decision to purchase this brand over other laptop brands. What initially made me make the purchase this laptop was factors such as the touch screen feature and it came in 15inches which I was used to as an HP user. Also, the surface 3 options without the Alcantara fabric were sold out. I had always used HP’s in the past so I wanted to try something different. Outside of those two functions, the surface 4 didn’t look spectacular by design and it didn’t give me that wow factor for what I paid. I ended up purchasing the Lenovo Yoga which I really love and it was cheaper than the Microsoft.

Straight out the box the fan is blowing loud. I can see if I was running something heavy but this thing just booted up! I really wanted to like this and keep it but now I have to return it the same day i got it. Also be careful as Best Buy is selling used things to people, I paid brand new price so the box should’ve looked brand new and the laptop should have preformed brand new for $700 price point. My old $200 hp laptop works better than this and never has blew like an airplane, and that’s more expected on a $200 device then something almost 1,000.

Cute and sleek laptop. Love the color even though I thought it would be a tan-like color. I’m not at all tech savvy so can’t say much, just that I don’t do a lot on this but basic web search, emails, google docs, sometimes Netflix and Spotify. Only use storage for necessary documents, and not photos. It comes with bing search which I don’t like because it always shuts me out but downloaded google search and have no issues. I prefer a larger screen but this was in my budget for what I liked. I am more comfortable to use it with a mouse. I’ve had it for 3 years so far and it’s still in great condition but I took care of it and kept it in a case. Battery length is great even with Netflix. Speed is great also!

Great little laptop, but no backlit keyboard...

I've had this laptop for a little less than a week, and for the most part it's a great little machine; it's small, powerful, and extremely portable.
Just out of the box, the laptop looks and feels great. It has a very smooth, sleek design, and the metallic case makes the laptop feel well built and quite substantial. Closed, it's about the size of a tablet and since it weighs only about 2.5 lbs, it's easy to take it anywhere. One of the things I immediately liked was the ability to easily open the lid; I've had a few other small laptops that were almost like trying to pry open a clam. This laptop is a little hard to open if you're holding it, but if it's on a table, the lid opens quite easily, although it would still be nice to have a small tab/bump on the edge of the lid. The screen has good brightness, but I was using it outside on my deck, and the combination of the sun with the glass screen made it hard to view the screen clearly, so I had to move to an area with more shade. The other big thing I liked about the laptop is that the keyboard, although small, doesn't feel cramped. I have big hands, but there's plenty of room to rest my wrists and type comfortably. That said, I was kind of shocked to find that the keyboard isn't backlit. I actually sent an email to Microsoft asking why it wasn't backlit, but as of yet I haven't received an answer. It could be they were trying to save on costs, but I really can't see that being a huge cost saver. To me, a non-lit keyboard is just odd. As far a processing power goes, the laptop has easily handled everything I need to run. As with any small laptop, USB ports are few and far between, but this one has 1 USB 3.0 port and 1 USB-C port, which should be plenty.
All in all, this is a great little laptop. It's very portable and packs enough power for about anything you'd probably need to do... plus it looks nice. If it had a backlit keyboard, I'd give it 5 stars, but as it is I'm giving it 4.

I love this laptop. This is the best laptop I have had since buying laptops. It is sleek and light. It almost looks like the apple laptops. Someone actually thought it was a apple laptop.
I bought it because I am back in school and I carry it with me every day to work. I do some of my school work during my lunch break. The battery life is good so far.
I love the fingerprint feature. I also like how it feels to my fingers when I am typing on the keyboard. So far, it is also fast.
The salesman, Richmond from the Yonkers location suggested it after I shared that I will be using it primarily for school work. He was very knowledgeable and I think he helped me to make the right choice.
