Loved the adjusting/titling screen which is what drew me to this laptop...BUT it's the weight of it for me! Just like its hefty price tag, this laptop is just as hefty. It has to weigh at least 8-10lbs! It is not convenient to lug around and will definitely give your wrist a workout. Speaking of hefty price tag, it should have included the stylus vice charging extra/separately for such a weird feeling and looking stylus. In comparison to all the stylus pens out here, there is nothing stylish about this stylus. I don't trust the magnetic attachment for the stylus located right under the laptop. I also wish that this laptop came with fingerprint recognition included (again to help justify the hefty price tag). Unfortunately, I have to say that I regret this highly anticipated purchase and will be returning it shortly after just receiving it.

1. Design and Build Quality:
• This laptop is beautiful, smooth lines with modern look and aesthetics. Clean silver trim all the way around makes for a pleasing and professional finished look. Overall, the build quality is great. Feels solid, durable, and able to take the everyday in and out abuse that most users will give it. The keyboard is quiet and smooth keystrokes, would be nice to have a dedicated numeric keypad to the side but this is omitted for obvious space-saving reasons. It does have a slim yet robust and useful “action key” row across the top for the usual “on the fly” laptop adjustments. The touchpad is fabulous; large, 10-point multi-touch, very responsive and has tactile feedback without that annoying ominous audible click when selecting things. The chassis actually sits up just a smidge to afford air vents all the way down both sides allowing for better airflow and cooling. With power and durability comes my only complaint about the build of this machine: the weight. As long as you are getting his to be a true laptop or table-top tablet it’s fine, but with the design of this with the flipping screen I thought it would be lighter and easier to use as an actual table but unfortunately, I found it felt quite heavy as a table and that made it difficult to use/hold in a typical tablet fashion. I think it’s more meant to be put in the hybrid content viewing mode and used as a stand-alone touchscreen tablet. It’s just not very easy to hold completely flat and use like just a simple tablet. Maybe I just need to work on my forearm strength…. The weight, however, is completely understandable when it comes to the devices dominating power and functional capabilities.
2. Display:
• This has a crystal clear and beautiful 14.4" touch-screen display. 2400 x 1600 resolution and Pixelsense technology. Brightness is great, no issues with backlighting when in a bright room. The display is absolutely beautiful with the glossy touch-screen finish that just looks amazing. The resolution, color accuracy, and brightness make this viewing surface hard to beat and really looks great whether you’re working, watching/creating content, or gaming. 120Hz refresh rate for glitch free smooth content.
• The touchscreen works flawlessly and functionality can’t be beat. Responsiveness is fantastic and this really comes to life as a creative workstation when paired with an optional surface pen. I really think this works fabulously with just a finger though so the pen is not a necessity although it adds to the overall functionality of the device.
3. Performance:
• This 13th generation Intel Core i7 is a powerhouse capable of handling any programs or software you throw at it. Plenty of processing power to run whatever your heart desires and multitask away with ease. Consider this and then pair it with the GeForce RTX 4050, and you have a true gaming computer at your fingertips. This duo pairs very well together and really brings that beautiful screen to life with all the current modern gaming titles. I’ve not had any lag or issues running all my favorites at the full 2400 x 1600 resolution on high to top notch graphics settings. This really is beast all around. The chassis design and integrated fans keep things running cool and practically silent – I guess I can hear the fans when push it hard but nothing like the noise created with several other dedicated gaming laptops I’ve had before.
4. Memory and Storage:
• 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM helps drive this to be a blazing fast multitasking hero. Never any issues having a dozen different tabs and programs running at the same time, and with a game running in the background. The included 512GB SSD is definitely sufficient for the basics as well as a couple large games. This could certainly be larger but external drives are so fast and cheap now that the internal hard drive size isn’t much of a factor to me. This could definitely be your primary gaming machine for most - If you are a hardcore gamer of multiple different games, be sure you choose the hard drive capacity option that will keep you happy and not needing to download/delete titles too frequently.
5. Graphics:
• As I mentioned already, this GeForce RTX 4050’s performance in gaming and graphic-intensive applications is phenomenal. Runs any title I have with ease.
6. Portability:
• As I mentioned, the weight, thickness, and overall portability of this laptop is a bit larger than I’d like for the tablet mode. Otherwise, just looking at it as a laptop, these variables all seem fairly standard for its functional class.
7. Battery Life:
• The battery life is quite good under all my different usage scenarios. Obviously heavy use will drain the battery faster than simple everyday tasks but overall, I’ve not held any issues with battery life. Will run the daily stuff all day long without anxiously looking for a plugin.
8. Connectivity:
• Has multiple available ports. Two USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports for blazing fast connection of peripherals and can utilize the speed of external SSDs. Also has a USB-A 3.1 port, microSD card slot, and headphone/microphone in audio jack. Power port is the nifty newer still magnetic jack, so you eliminate the fear of bending or breaking off your power cord. Integrated Bluetooth and AX Wi-Fi 6E get you connected at blazing fast speeds which are amazingly faster than most wired connections.
9. Audio Quality:
• The qualities of the built-in speakers and microphone are top-notch. The speakers sound really great and are nice a crisp, this is of course a laptop though and you won’t be throwing any parties with it.
10. Software and Operating System:
• Excellent user experience with Windows 11 operating system. Runs smooth and super-fast. You can really tell Microsoft knew they were pairing parts that would make their latest Win11 shine, and this does. They work seamlessly together for a really great and productive experience.
11. Price:
• The price is not cheap, but the included hardware features make it worth the cost. If you want top notch components and performance, then there is a price to pay. Overall, this unit is comparable to others in the same category, and I would consider it well worth the cost.

I've really enjoyed using this laptop. I decided to use it as my main work and gaming device to see if it would meet my needs. There are so many things to like, starting with the Surface app give you a good overview of what is unique about the device.
Windows Hello is an amazing experience. The quick login, even in a darker room, is great and reliable.
The keyboard is incredible, just the right amount of travel and clickyness. The touchpad is the best I've ever used on a Windows laptop. The click haptics feel great and can be adjusted or turned off if desired.
The screen is clear and bright. The 2400 x 1600 resolution at 150% scaling gives plenty of room while keeping text crisp. The screen at 120 Hz keeps things smooth and is great for gaming. Combined with the form factor, pulling the screen forward for gaming is amazing. A subtle touch, but the screen has rounded corners that match the laptop lid.
I like the selection of ports, especially that there is a USB type A port. The surface connector is really nice, but you can also charge over the USB type C ports. With a 100 watt charger connected to USB type C, I was able to charge rather quickly, despite Windows saying I was using a lower powered charger.
A must have purchase with this is the surface pen, and I do wish it was included. The screen is also a touch screen, and I prefer to use touch with the pen. Additionally, drawing works so well. There is no noticable lag and the pen input feels very natural. I also like using the screen to mark up a presentation. I could open a PDF in Edge, pull the screen forward and easily underline, circle, and notate changes. The pen charges by attaching magnetically under the front lip of the laptop.
It is a heavy device, but still portable. It is just about the maximum weight I would consider carrying daily in my backpack.
The speakers are suprisingly good. Enjoyable to listen to podcasts and music and also great for voice clarity on calls. The video camera is clear and works well in average light conditions. There are Surface specific features for the webcam. You can set automatic framing to keep you in the view, eye contact can be turned on, and you can set the background blur. The microphones are great as well.
Throughout my work day the laptop didn't ever get very hot, which was great. Gaming does generate heat, which is expected. The elevated design does help with heat dissapation. The design also helps the laptop look smaller than it actually is, a sort of pedestal or tiered design.
Battery life has been good. During light work with office apps, browsing, and small development projects I could get through the day without charging. Gaming will rapidly decrease that, which you would expect. I do like that I could be working away from my desk for a full day without needing to charge up. You can also get more battery life by keeping the device in the Recommended power profile. While gaming, you can change this to Best Performance, but the battery will suffer. If you keep the laptop plugged in most of the time, I would set it to Better or Best Performance as battery wouldn't be a consideration.
There is a question of value, but that will vary for individuals and needs. Overall, the premium design, cleaner Windows OS, and form factor make this a joy to use.
