This pen truly turns the surface tablet into a jack of all trades. if you are a student, then it's a necessary accessory. taking notes was a breeze. it felt like a real pen. I did not experience any dragging or delays when writing with it. the one click option to open up one note is the best.

Great Pen, but missing something

This is one great Pen to use. The build is sturdy and really feels premium. The tip can be replaced and switched with other tip sizes so it is great for different types of drawing/writing and can last longer. Easy to replace battery is a good thing, but the battery is a AAAA so it's expensive. The higher pressure sensibility can only be used on the pro 4 however, so you will still be using the pressire sensitivity your surface uses. But it is 100% compatible with the Surface 3 and Pro 3. Tested this on my Surface 3 and my friend's Surface pro 3 and pro 4.
This version of the pen has a magnet built in, so it sticks to other things other than Surface; makes it harder or easier to loose depending on the person. My only gripe is that is that it could use some better grip, slides from my hands quite easily.

This pen is an improvement over the previous Surface Pro 3 pen. The end functions as an eraser and it comes with multiple tips that are helpful for different uses. Our Surface Pro 3 pens stopped working after awhile but this pen has been functioning well since we purchased it.

This pen was an afterthought when we bought a Surface 3 for my daughter. I'm glad we got it because she constantly finds new ways to use it to improve the interaction with the tablet. From navigation to working in Office apps, she is constantly telling me of things she discovers. If you get the Surface, get the pen.

I purchased this pricey item at the same time I bought the notebook. Sure enough, I misplaced the stylus, whose magnet is easily disengaged accidentally, and discovered I like this one better than the original one (which I later found.)

Works great with Surface Pro 3. More pleasant to use than the old one. Softer tip, and variety of tips, makes this much better. The magnet works well on the right side of the Surface Pro 3 when using...not when transporting.

I have bought more of the original pen than needed (4). I purchased the new one and take extra care in keeping up with it. The shape is better, so it sticks to the Surface Pro better. The eraser and multiple writing tips and pressure sensitivity is an added bonus!

The surface pro 3 pens were not designed to work in an office environment. They would intermittently disconnect. Obviously Microsoft realized this and reengineered the new pen. This pen works consistently. Now, what do I do with 10 surface pro 3 pens? Any takers?

The pen is a must have accessory for the Surface. On a regular basis it's a nice replacement for a mouse, as a note taking tool it's just as natural to use as a pen. I recommend purchasing this as it will significantly enhance your experience with the Surface.

Best digital drawing instrument

This is the best digital drawing instrument I have ever used. There's a huge number of levels of pressure sensitivity, which work with many apps such as FreshPaint, Paint 3D,etc. The pen comes with 4 different nib sizes. The battery lasts forever. Nice pocket clip. Perfect diameter and weight. My only complaint is that it slides off the side of the Surface Pro 4 when I put the device into my bag. I wish the magnets were a little stronger. I originally had a silver one, but I thought I lost it so I bought the black replacement, which looks a lot nicer.

Really like the tips, vs the original had lack there of. The eraser on top being eraser is nice. But I do miss the two buttons accessable on the bottom, vs just the one now. I still keep my first gen in the bag, but this is the one I prefer.
Oh and batteries last, idk, maybe 6 months of daily use.

I bought this pen after dropping the original bending the tip. I could have simply bought a replacement tip, but I figured while I was at it I might as well get the pen color I preferred. This pen functions just like the original only a different color. It quickly synced to my Surface Pro 4. It came with a pack of various sized pen tips. If I ever drop this one on the end, I'll have a backup. I love the fluid feel when writing and the various tips allow me to adjust to what I want to accomplish (handwriting versus drawing).

Still learning how to use it, as well as the computer but love that I can write so easily on my screen. Its smooth and easy to hold. I have a surface pro 3 and I wish the magnets would hold the pen tighter to the sides but I guess thats really just for the SP4. Love the options though.

Let me start by saying that this pen is a huge step up from the surface pro 3 pen, and if you are a proud owner of a surface pro 3 it is definitely worth it to upgrade to this pen. It comes with additional tips as well as a magnet on the side so it attaches to the side of your surface. The eraser is now placed on the back of the pen and doesn't require you to press any additional buttons to erase. And the new tips provide added resistance which not only feels more natural but also allows for neater handwriting.

The pen is comfortable to to use and works as advertised. There are a few issues I have with the pen however.
1. It uses a battery and is not rechargeable. MS claims the battery will last a year but other tablets use other technologies that do not require a battery.
2. It is a bit pricy. $60 retail seems a bit much. Other manufacturers are offering similar products for half that.
3. Although not an issue with the pen itself the fact that we have after so many iterations of the Surface Pro we still do not have a pen silo or somewhere that the pen can attach and not be easily lost is silly.

The pen and Surface work together so perfectly! It's a dream team! I wasn't pleased with the directions out of the box and it took me a bit to figure out all the functions of the pen, but I've never used one before. After I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing!

The Stylus helps when trying to click the smaller buttons on the Surface tablet. The Stylus doesn't work as well when you are trying to hover over something to click on a different link. Otherwise, the stylus is perfect and definitely a necessary accessory.
