These are now our standard computer for travelling staff. As full-powered as you want to pay for because there are several different configurations. Get the one you need, though, because they are not upgradeable. Solid construction and quality components. They seem to outperform the HP Spectre x360 machines that we also bought for similar money.

      Hi there,

We are excited to hear you and your traveling staff are enjoying the devices! We appreciate your investment in the Surface line. It's true, you will not be able to make internal upgrades without voiding the warranty. This is surely something to consider when choosing the machine that will work best for your needs. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

      Take care,

I had a Mac Air but really like this for taking to class. I can open my notes from the teacher and add my notes during class right over the teacher's handouts. It is super fast and runs my games, streaming and of course my school stuff.

Bought this for my wife, whose hobby is photography. She used to have a Samsung laptop that was too heavy for her taste and had always wanted something lighter to use for Photoshop and Lightroom. Since she has started using the surface line of products, she's never looked back! This thing is so portable and light AND powerful at the same time! The build quality has improved over the generations and the pen for this newer surface pro (2017 version) has definitely improved in terms of responsiveness. If you want a light, portable, durable and powerful laptop, this is the one to get! Microsoft is trending toward the hated sub-based licensing but at least their physical products are still reliable and somewhat innovative. Let's hope it stays this way.

I bought this for my grandson in Virginia. He will begin college this August. He is computer literate and after reviewing computer tablets (both Mac and Pentium) he asked for the Microsoft Surface pro. When we gave it to him 2 weeks ago (as a HS graduation gift) he said the charger was hot to touch. When he turned it on the tablet said to take it in for repair. We took it to Best Buy in Fredericksburg. They gave him a new tablet but charged him an extra $10 for Virginia taxes. We didn't argue. When he charged it up and turned it on there were no problems. He loves the machine. I hope it helps him in college.

This is a great computer, and the portability is a huge sell. It has plenty of pickup hardware wise, and the camera is solid on it. I travel a lot and it was a perfect fit for me at the time of the purchase.

SO far this has been a great purchase. Good size for portability as well not being too heavy. Screen resolution is awesome for what I use it for, surfing the web, using Microsoft products and watching Netflix. Great product if you want both notebook and the tablet. Although you have to purchase the keyboard separately.

If you can swing the price, I would recommend going for the I7 Models, My wife and friend has the I5 models and while they are fine, you can certainly feel the difference from one processor to the other.

I enjoy the laptop, it's a good machine. It does what is expected. The only thing I have a little problem is the kick stand. Just be careful with it as it supports the tablet upright. If a table is too small it's easily moved by use and can fall over.

      Hi Danny,

Thanks for the review. Glad to hear you are enjoying the device.

Surface Pro's hinged kickstand adjusts from 0-150 degrees for ultimate flexibility no matter where you are and what you're doing. In general, the wider the angle the more stability Surface will have.

Once Again, MS Makes It Painful

Does everything it should, except provide a USB C Thunderbolt port. I'm sure other 5 stars are gushing over it all. Unfortunately, MS stepped in and delivered a faulty setup program on the first unit I took home and I had to return it and take home a second and try. Would have liked the Black, but settled on Silver just to be safe I wasn't getting another unit from same borked setup lot. Reminded me a lot of 6 month struggle to rid a SurfaceBook of the old Blue Screen of Death from MS screwups on drivers and the like. Blue plushie type cover at a special sale price lower than the entry level black was a nice addition. None of the stammering and halting of the Surface Pro 3, nor any of the run away fan usage or mysterious powered on/dead battery debacles .. yet .... Can't wait to see if MS manages not to brick this unit with SurfaceBook and Pro3 issues from incompetent firmware/OS updates. Replaces a Pro3 that has had continual firmware/OS issues. But form factor really fills a nice slot, so I'm really, really hoping this one is for real. Only time will tell. There are really no units out there with similar specs and usefulness, for me. Old SurfaceBook/Pro pen works just well enough not to require another, along with an existing Surface Dock. Also, worked with other SurfacePro type covers. However, until MS shows it deserves having been taken off the well-deserved Consumer Reports Not Recommended List for a year or two, I'm personally not recommending any MS Surface devices to friends or family. My past experiences with Pro 3 and Book, along with MS' actively unhelpful responses to the issues they created, make me very leery of saddling others with sub-standard equipment on my reputation.
