I wanted a Lenovo Thinkpad 8. The delay in shipping caused me to look for other options. Now that I have the Surface Pro 2 I'm glad I did not get the Lenovo. The screen size on the Surface is perfect for my needs. The processor speed is similar to my full desktop. I also purchased the Surface Dock and it make it into a near Desktop replacement. The move I use the tablet, the more I like it.

I have been looking for a good tablet for my wife for her school use because she kept on complaining how hard it is for her to carry her i7 traditional clamshell laptop. I was looking at samsung note 10.1, Dell tablet, and sony vaio tab 11. I crossed out samsung note 10.1 because it's the android based OS but we needed something very similar to a windows laptop. Now I looked at sony vaio tab 11, and it's a very hard decision between sony and surface pro 2. Sony vaio tab 11 is pretty, comes with a keyboard, uses i5 Y series processor and of course it's cheaper than surface pro 2. The downside for tab 11 are the fact that it uses a slower Y series processor and its plastic build. My wife is very prone to dropping stuffs.. So I needed something sturdy, something with metal housing. That is why I ended up with Surface Pro 2. Man I am glad I made that choice. Surface Pro 2 is basically a laptop once u attach it with Type cover 2 keyboard. VERY PORTABLE AND SPEEDY. That's the selling point of Surface Pro 2. It has the power of a n i5 laptop. By itself, without the keyboard, it still shine as a tablet. Again, speedy, Adobe flash enabled, study and quality built with metal housing, runs cool, no noise and just almost perfect. The fact that it doesn't come with a keyboard for the price Microsoft is asking for, its a drawback. Other than that, it's awesome laptop replacement for school and business use.

My first experience with Windows 8 was a disaster; because it was on a PC. It took me a day to realize with the Surface makes using this software easy. Given that I needed a computer that ran real software as I use it for business, but I wanted a small foot print, this was the only option I found. It is super fast and the battery lasts more than long enough between charges. It runs a game faster and better than my laptop that has a dedicated graphics board with more graphics memory.

An absolutely great alternative to the I-pad and Kindle - a real full functioning PC replacement in a tablet form factor with ample storage and a powerful processor. Expensive, Yes - but on the same level as a good quality notebook with the added portability. Absolutely recommend you take a look at it. And if price is a BIG issue consider the Surface Pro - they are more reasonable and have most features of the Pro 2.

Needed windows operating system so ipad etc would not work. This is perfect, small, fast, many tutorials on internet for the new user. I've had no problems so far. Do wish that more than 2 lines would pop up for writing with the pen, fyi the pen works well and handwriting is best i have seen so far.

I was a little reluctant to jump in because of the high price, but I have not regretted the purchase. It's a beautiful windows machine. I strongly recommend getting the keyboard with it. It provides a little protection to the screen when you carry it in a backpack, but also has a very usable touch pad mouse. In most situations I use the touch screen, yes, but I've found that in situations needing fine control it's invaluable to have the mouse. The main situation is when I remote desktop into another PC. Overall, it's a great device. The battery life is fantastic, boot time is lightning fast thanks to the SSD, and the screen resolution is very sharp. If I needed another portable Windows machine I'd definitely purchase again.

I upgraded from a Surface RT to the Surface Pro 2. This is such a fast, capable machine. I use it as a tablet most of the time and I love the pen. Taking notes is great with the pen. Windows 8 apps run very fast and regular windows applications work just fine too. All in all, a great tablet and PC. Using it on a lap as a laptop can be done, but is not the best.

Its a Microsoft product, so there are the normal Windows bugs BUT, hardware is solid, quick, light, long battery life; for its size its superbly powered and functional. I owned the original Surface Pro for over a month before buying this on launch day. I was satisfied, but not thrilled with the original. I am much more happy with the Pro 2. The battery life is better and the sound volume is MUCH better than the original. The one gripe that is easily fixable (on any Windows 8 w/ touch screen) is the pen calibration, Google search for "Surface Pro Pen Calibration Properly" or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171198 shows how to get an accurate calibration.

Much more portable than typical laptop. I purchased my Surface Pro 2 to replace the HP Laptop I purchased in July 2014. The HP is cheap and not portable. My Surface is small enough to carry with me. I wish the screen was a bit larger. Definitely need to purchase the detachable keyboard.

I did not expect to like this device as much as I do. If it had a better app store this would probably always be my primary tablet. The app store is growing though and many of the apps I missed have made their way to the Windows store (Flipboard for example). I love being able to snap to windows side-by-side and work/reference one app in another app. Full Windows access from the desktop is also nice for being able to use those applications that do not have a tablet counterpart (Quicken). All in all, at present it doesn't fully replace my ipad just yet, but if the app store continues to get more content, I could see that changing.

This is the perfect business computer. Battery life is reasonable, screen is easy to read, size is small, weight is light. All my old Windows programs are usable. It is very resistant to dropping. I have not gotten it wet yet.

Overall, I think Microsoft did an admirable job with the Surface Pro 2. The thing is built like a tank. Although it's rather thick and heavy, It gives me a sense of durability not found in other thin and light tablets. With Windows 8.1, you'll either love it or hate it. Considering the massive changes made in the OS, I believe Microsoft did a pretty good job in nailing the user experience for their first try at adapting Windows to a mobile environment. The 4th gen Intel CPU really improves battery life. I purchased the type cover and my one nitpick with this setup is that, unlike a traditional laptop, the kickstand on the Surface is what keeps the thing upright and it's not the most stable or convenient when resting on your lap since there is no hinge to add support.

I bought it during Presidents' Day, which is Best Buy's online only deal. But it comes with battery out, and after turned on, the WIndows cannot be activated. I called Geek Squad but they said they can only help if I can find an activation number in the original box or on the tablet, which is not anywhere. I had to go to Best Buy store and let the Geek Squad check the issue. The lady there said they don't sell Surface Pro 2 now, and ask me if I bought from Amazon, I had to explain twice this is Best Buy's online deal. In final, she agreed to check the issue and found that system clock wasn't correctly set due to battery out and caused activation failure. After correct the issue, the tablet itself have been working perfectly since then. It would be great purchase without went through these unnecessary troubles, one star off for that.

Extremely well built. The 256gb is worth the price increase from 128gb because in addition to the extra storage space, you get 8gb of ram. The is a fantastic piece of hardware with a great selection of aaccesories as well. Highly recommended

This thing is great! I can run full Office on it as well as some of my Steam games. For what you get it's great. It's just that the battery life is still somewhat low and the price is a bit much for what you get. You can get a full gaming laptop with upgradeable parts for this price, but if that doesn't bother you its a great device. I installed Mame and a full rom set and have access to thousands of games and can use my wireless Xbox 360 controller to play them. This means this device is pulling triple duty...laptop, tablet & portable gaming console. I take it to work and use a mini display port to hdmi cable and get to play arcade games on the big screen, it's great! Along with the 200GB of free OneDrive access and 8GB of Ram this thing is great!!

I waited months for Best Buy to finally have the 256G version available to sell (love those My Best Buy points!) It was worth the wait. I use the Surface 2 Pro for music (approx. 36G loaded so far), and work (Office 365.) I recently took it on vacation and was able to download two digital cameras into the Surface, re-label and tag all the photos and organize them on the flights home. I'm having to learn basic tasks and tricks as I go along because I haven't found a solid place for instructions and tutorials. I'm sure I'll get most of it figured out. So far I am highly impressed with my toy/tool.

My office is a pickup and this is the perfect computer for this application. If you are looking for an ultra portable fully functioning computer this is the best option I have found. The screen is bright and easy to read in the daylight. The touch screen takes a little time to get accustom to. I would like to be able to resize the onscreen keyboard as it takes up half of the screen when viewing in landscape mode. Other than that this is a wonderful computer.
