Tablet is powerful, great specs, and fast. It is lightweight. The only concern is the battery life; but once again, it all depends on Wi-Fi, open apps, websites, etc.

The machine is lightweight, easily transitions from tablet to full mode computer with the keyboard. Pretty fast, runs windows 10, and the pen is a fun addition to make notes and drawings. The battery was somewhat of a disappointment, it doesn't perform long enough and the apps from the store are not that great compared to apple and android products. There is a big lack of apps, and the ones that are there feel somewhat "cheap" and amateur looking, Microsoft has a long way to go when it comes to app development. Past that, as long as you have an electric plug close of you are working for a long period of time on, it's a pretty good computer

I absolutely love this thing. I bought it because I was tired of lugging around my 15" HP laptop. Carrying it around with any of my textbooks was almost like doing a workout. My laptop was a few years old and running updates took forever. This Surface simply flies. Navigating the OS is quick and the screen is beautiful to look at. The added bonus of the Surface Pen is great also. The only thing that I will say is that you almost absolutely need a Type Cover (you should know what you're buying so I didn't think it was fair to take a star away). You won't be said giving this thing a try.

I purchased this shortly after reading reviews and having my Macbook Pro break down because I was in the market for a new computer. I wanted to have portability but not lose functionality so I was looking at a Macbook Air, an iPad or this Surface Pro.I needed it for both personal and business use. I had always been a fan of this product since I went to my local Microsoft Store two years ago to check it out. I got sold on this product because of the fact that I can have the best of both a tablet and a computer and the fact that most applications that I ran are Windows based. I am a vivid Apple fan and loyal customer but I figured this was the best product for me so I went to Best Buy and purchased it. I am in love with this product. I use it every day and the stylus is very useful for taking notes. Cortana works exactly for what I need it for and I am not losing functionality with this little guy. Definitely recommended!

I purchased the surface pro and the battery lasted about a year. I teach online and it was my backup computer. The camera drive became corrupt. My WARRANTY saved me and I ended up replacing it with a Lenovo Yoga. I purchased the $300 warranty and Again the camera drive became corrupt. Yesterday I took the lenovo in and it cost me ANOTHER $200 for the SOFTWARE warranty to fix the camera. In all, BB soaked me for an extra $600 JUST in warranties that I probably could have purchased another computer with. I am NOT a pleased customer at the current moment. I won't have a back up until Thursday. This computer situation has been a complete disaster. I need my computer for my income. Computers feel like a money pit. I guess it comes with the territory (???) . (Side note: Why do warranties have to be SO EXPENSIVE???? How aggravating!!!) More cons: the cover and keyboard cost additional $$$. The detachable did not work well for me personally. I did not like the fact the magnets are not really that strong and it kept coming off / apart. There are just two USB ports-there might only be one, now I can't remember. The charging cord does have a port, it just doesn't connect to the laptop like a typically USB. I think it's only for charging. Positive note about the Surface Pro. My sister has the more updated surface pro and she likes it (I am still trying to figure out why). When you can get the pen to sync, it is really fun to use. Make sure to have a virus protector!!! If the battery lasted longer, I probably would have kept it, but I am glad I exchanged it now. Perhaps it is just a preference. I did not see any major difference in overall speed. They were pretty comparable. The Lenovo was less expensive too. Recommendation: If you need a touchscreen laptop/ tablet, get the Yoga. I surprisingly prefer the Lenovo better, and would definitely recommend the Lenovo Yoga over the surface pro. The screen is a little bigger ( a tad heavier) but it overall feels more solid. The Yoga is also touchscreen with a fun pen. I also like the attached keyboard which turns into a tablet when you flip it over.

Using the surface pen has saved me time when writing notes in class and organizing/locating notes. It's useful that this computer is designed to work well with OneNote because it makes writing seamless and documents accessible. I purchased a 128 GB, 4 RAM, i5 model and it does everything I want it to. If you are planning to use this computer for extensive media editing, I would recommend purchasing a model with higher memory, RAM and better i7 processor. The rear and front-end cameras are not the best so do not expect very good quality photos and videos. There's only one USB hub so that get's frustrating. I would recommended investing in a USB hub extension. Retina scan log-in is seamless and easy to use. Battery life could be better. I would recommend using it for work near an outlet. There are battery expansions you can buy but they are very expansive. Minecraft works well on it but I'm not sure about other video games.

I bought this for a Master's program I was starting to replace my aging laptop with no touch screen. It is light, has good battery life, the touch screen/pen works well, and I am super familiar with Win10. That said, OneNote keeps crashing and when coming out of sleep mode some apps don't work until the next reboot. I have applied the Anniversary update which has not really made much of a performance improvement. Overall, it is better than my old laptop and is a good machine. Just the standard Win10 issues that I would have hoped Microsoft would have been able to figure out on their own hardware.

Easy Transition to the 2-in-1 World

After 20-plus years using laptops, I bought an open-box Surface Pro 4; two, actually. My rising high school freshman needed something like the Pro 4. He was adamant about getting the Pro 4, specifically. He was coming from three years in the Chrome OS world. The idea was for me to start using this laptop/tablet and be available so we could ramp up together. Well, not sure if it's kids today, my son in particular, or the intuitiveness of the Pro 4, but, my son hardly needs help getting around on his new device (also an open-box purchase). We're both getting around and being productive without much struggle at all. The few times we've sought help, my buddy, Google, had gobs of information right on hand for quick help. After learning a few basic concepts, everything is easy. The intro videos cover what's needed to get out of the starters' block. I'm sure to learn more and more in the coming months. For now, I'm happy to take what I know and be productive with email, browsing, simple photo editing, etc. The pen is pretty darn good. I've had sporadic experience with stylii in the past and they tended to be pretty miserable with respect to effectiveness (could have been user problems!). The most impressive aspect for me is the Pro 4's ability to ignore my hand during writing on the screen and accept only input from the pen. It's just a natural movement to go Tablet Mode and start writing, drawing, whatever, without worrying about how I'm positioning my hand so as not to confuse what touch points are being accepted. We did have one apparent issue with my son's Pro 4. He would open an app which appeared to start loading, then not load. He'd have to close the app, try again, and the app would load successfully. So, we did a Geek Squad appointment (easily setup, convenient times) to ask about this. This is where we learned another basic 2-in-1 world concept--the difference between mobile apps and desktop apps co-existing on the Pro 4 and when one or the other is more appropriate. Now, I can't explain the failure-to-load behavior my son experienced. However, the solution was simple. Uninstall the mobile app he was using and start using the much more robust desktop app. I'm really digging the magnetized features of the Pen "holder", Type Cover, and Power Cord. We immediately placed our new machines in killer UAG wraps that look military, solid, and darn cool. We give up lightweightness, but, feel more secure should an accident cause a drop. The Type Cover is perfect. I enjoy typing on it and have no complaints. I wondered about the color combinations when ordering, but, I hardly notice the color of my device and would be happy with whatever the Type Cover happened to be. So far, I'd say the biggest bummer is battery life. I was hoping for true, all-day power. Though I have no definitive testing in this area, I don't see that as possible. Six hours is what I have in mind when I plan my day, thinking ahead to when I'll need to power up next. I'm always plugging my devices into power, so, I tend not to encounter low-power situations. Given the significant price of these units, I would have to have a full twelve hours of battery capacity for me to be 100% satisfied in this area. We set up OneDrive storage and sync (an online video gave us a four-step procedure for this) and we popped in 64GB microSD chips into the back of the Pro 4s (not sure why, to be honest, likely a remnant of my old school laptop days and the half dozen external HDs I have laying around). This just makes me feel like I have plenty of storage should I ever need it (I'm no gamer, monster musicophile, or, downloaded movie keeper). So far, so good for us newbies of the tablet/laptop combo era using the Surface Pro 4. I wonder how the latest version improves upon what we have. I've talked to other, much more experienced users who keen on their Pro3s and see no reason to upgrade. This appears to be a heck of line of devices for Microsoft!

I used to use iPad to read paper and other business during trips or lying on my sofa, but iPad can't work on word, excel or powerpoint that well. And in my field, many software are PC only, so I need a portable PC and wish it can still be used as a iPad. Surface Pro solved this problem well. It's light, portable with all PC functions. The keyboard is around $70-80 if you are patient to find a deal. The only two cons: 1. battery life is only 3-4 hours per full charge. Maybe it's due to the i5 CPU. 2. The touchpad is not as comfortable and sensitive as the iMac pro or air. Overall, I spend $600 on this, and I get an iPad+Mac air+PC, although not 100% perfect, it's still way beyond my imagination

I purchased the Surface Pro 4 as an alternative to a laptop because I needed to utilize space in my messenger bag for other books and materials. The Surface Pro 4 has met and exceeded all of my expectations for performance in the classroom; it is lightweight, capable of powerful computing, and it is a beautiful device to top it off. The portability is unrivaled in my opinion, as I can easily use it anywhere I take it. Overall, a fantastic product.

I had the Surface Pro 3 and wasn't sure they could improve on it. The Pro 4 however DID. The colors and clarity of the screen is unbelievable. The speed when browsing the internet makes it hard to believe that only a decade and a half ago we were still dealing with "dial-up" connections. With the Pro 4 I see no need for a laptop, I am actually thinking of giving my Desktop away since the Surface Pro 4 does more that the three year old PC ever could.

I really didn't think the surface could replace my laptop but it does so effortlessly. My Asus laptop was a little heavy and had constant problems. So far I haven't had any trouble with my surface. I like how lightweight it is I can carry it around with me everywhere. Occasionally the surface does get hot but after some updates it seems fine. The battery life is more around 3-4 hours but it's not a deal breaker. I always keep it charged and am in a position to plug in when it gets low. If I plan on going out of town I make sure its charged and ready to go. I love the Surface and have since stopped using my Asus Laptop.

I have been interested in the Surface products since they were introduced, but am glad that I waited for the Surface Pro 4. Reviews online stated that the Pro 4 had the features to make it worth purchasing. I love the size, weight, and touch screen. I also purchased the keyboard to use for school assignments and written documents. Very glad I did. The keys are very responsive and feel just like the laptop I normally use. I am just now experimenting with the pen and One Note. I teach art so I wanted to have this product to draw sample lessons for my class. The features are quite nice, many options for color, line thickness, etc. One issue, though I am still experimenting on capabilities, came when I drew a very detailed picture. Once the screen got quite full, I continued to get a message, "Not responding". Could have been a one-time issue, but I will continue to work with this product to find its maximum potential. Overall, I love it. Keep in mind that I am still learning about technology as I use it for my classroom and don't consider myself an expert of any sort!

I have tried a few Surface products in the past and this one is by far the best execution so far. I am a Mac user, but replaced my iPad with the Surface Pro. Was tired of the limitations on the iPad when traveling and this solves my problems well. Wish the battery was a little better, but getting used to charging devices on a daily basis anyway. Runs everything I throw at it well - Adobe Creative Suite, Office Apps, Etc. If you want a tablet that can do more, I highly recommend. If you are looking for more of a traditional laptop device I suggest you check out the Surface Book.

Set up was easy and very portable, battery life below average, I get about 5 1/2 hours on a complete charge if I am working on graphics when I am on the go . Overall, system very quick and details when drawing are very good. Stylus is a plus and the new keyboard is easier to type on. Windows hello is especially useful when on the go. It seems as Microsoft resolved the heating issue and the fan when it seldom does come on is very quiet. As a basic computer for on the go , it exceeded my expectations, although I would not recommend to those who are extreme gamers. A few minor issues but nothing major to give it a negative review. Because of the battery issue I rated this 4 out of 5 stars.

Unfortunately, this is a version 4 product. This product really can't be used without the keyboard. I tried. I didn't buy the keyboard. 3 times the touch screen went out on me. Probably a driver issue. The touch screen SHOULD NEVER GO UNRESPONSIVE in a tablet device. Once it does, I tried holding the power button down for 5 seconds to do a hard shutdown (standard in the ATX specification). Failed. Microsoft decided to change it so that a message came down that said something like swipe to shutdown. Oh, but if you're touch screen is unresponsive, you can just sit there and watch it for 4 hours when the batter completely dies... then wait for it over night because really it's just in a sleep state. They lied about the battery. I say it's a 4-5 hour battery. Middle brightness just surfing. Tablet functionality wasn't great. Windows Edge is very buggy. I switched to Internet explorer... which is not built for touch, so... I had to switch to Chrome. This was basically my experience. If I plugged it into a keyboard and mouse, it was a great windows computer. It is marketed as a tablet, and it really just seemed like they tried. Mostly. The app store wasn't great. The onscreen keyboard, the way app store, the way windows just behaves was just awkward as a tablet. At 65 degrees ambient, surfing the web, the fan never came on. When it did, it wasn't that bothersome at all. I also tried the Lenovo Yoga 900. At this price point, the yoga fit my life much better. I loved the tent position, i loved flipping it out 180 so i can lay down and watch a movie with this thing balanced on my stomach. The battery lasted way longer.

The surface pro 4 functions well. I use it for presentations, It is fast and I added a 250GB microSD card to expand the storage. Works flawless and gives me exactly what I need to do my work. I use this to also design web pages and other business related tasks and it never fails me. I like the magnetic charging cable so it is easy to plug in and if I forget to unplug the cable it doesn't trip me or yank me back. I really like the surface and the keyboard that I purchased with it. SO much better than the iPAD Pro and its keyboard for sure.
