Customers are impressed with the Surface Pro 6's ease of use, lightweight design, and performance. Many appreciate its compact size and good battery life, while some find the price and limited storage options to be drawbacks. The lack of a USB-C port is another frequently cited shortcoming.

I bought this one to replace my SP4 that worked very well. I've been a fan of these since that purchase. I love it for school. I love it for home. It works. excellent in any environment. I get a glass screen protector for when I use the pen just in case because I don't want to mess up the screen. I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't own an apple because the app store is completely different. But anyone constantly on the go will benefit from this due to its versatility and light weight. I only gave it 4 stars because I wanted the black one but it only came with 256 gb SSD but with so many microSD cards, and an external hard drive, I don't need that much internal storage. It bothers me that they just couldn't make it in black or other colors regardless of the software. Hopefully in the future they start offering different color Surface Pros.

This is the third Surface device purchased in the last 5 years. The first one was the original (smaller, less powerful) Surface. The second one failed after less than 2 years - and could not be repaired - which forced this purchase. That said, this is one of the most versatile portable tools I have ever used. it is as powerful as my desktop computer in my main office and provides everythingI need for file access, presentations, and general work while on the road. The fact that I have come back to this product - and to BestBuy - three times is an additional endorsement.

I like everything about my Surface Pro 6. I ordered it with keyboard, mouse, pen, and the full version of MS Office. Probably the only thing I really miss is a numeric keypad but that could be an add-on option.
I have yet to find a limitation to the options I chose (8 GB RAM and 128 GB HD). I highly recommend this combination.

Spent 5 years forcing a Samsung platform

Stupid title, so let me explain. I've been attempting to unify on the Samsung platform (phone, tablet, laptop) since 2014 with varying degrees of success. The laptop is always the weak spot, with the tablet being a close second. Having had every Samsung Tab S series tablet, most recently the S5e, I finally gave up as the glitches continue to grow. I've resisted the move to the Surface for a number of reasons. It has always been at least one, if not two generations of CPU behind, low memory, expensive storage, and slow. Most recently the lack of USB-C and the proprietary charger. My wife owned a Surface 2 and used it daily as a reader, web browser, and email station. But I thought, coming from IT, I needed more.
Well after my S5e frustration I broke down and bought the Pro 6 i5 (8th gen) 128 and gave up my Samsung quest for unification.
Important points:
The Surface integrates flawlessly with my Samsung S10plus.
For me the pen is a little used device, while the keyboard is essential.
I have yet to have to wait for the system to catch up to my interactions, and all programs seem to work as flawlessly as my desktop.
I hate the proprietary charger, but it is fast and works.
(if Microsoft switches to magnetic USB-C, I will sell mine and switch instantly)
Boot time with the Samsung Tab S3, S4 and S5e were all well in excess of 30 seconds (up to 84 seconds with DEX turned on), the Surface boots to face recognition within 5 seconds, and instantly recognizes my face in good lighting (add reading glasses, a hat, or anything not in the facial recognition set up image and you'll be going to your pin login out of frustration.
I'm not a graphic artist, nor am I doing renders on my tablet, so any belief that I needed a faster CPU was put to bed with regular use.
The majority of my use is Office apps, web browsing, email, and a few mid range productivity apps, all of which the Surface shine in performance.
Kickstand - It is great, but not perfect as when sitting on your lap, or belly if laying down. I bought the Flippy multi-angle soft pillow off Amazon and it is a perfect compliment.
I also bought the Surface mouse and it never came out of the box.
I'm in complete agreement with most on build quality. This thing is solid, quiet, fast, and easily outperforms any Samsung, Acer, ASUS, or any other tablet I've owned.
Screen resolution is amazing, touch response with a Zagg glass screen protector takes a bit more pressure, but I'll never use a tablet without a glass screen protector.
Also put on the Kensington Black Belt 2nd degree case which increases the weight a lot, but it is an amazing protective case.
After buying this Surface Pro 6 I sold my laptop, an action I never saw coming.

I traded in my Surface Pro 3 for this machine, did/could not want to hold out for something with USB-C. The performance is an enormous improvement over everything but my gaming PC! This handy device has me questioning if I really need to bring my laptop anywhere, the 8th gen quad core i5 is on par or slightly better than my laptops 7th gen i7 laptop. Absolutely beautiful screen, especially compared to my girlfriend's iPad Pro... the two machines aren't even close to competitors. The Surface Pro 6 beats the iPad on every level except Instagram and Facebook consumption! This is a serious workhorse that has more than enough battery and power for work or play! I would recommend upgraded the latest Surface pen, especially if you're upgrading from an older SP, huge reduction in latency and a noticeably better "pen to paper" feel. If you have the SP4 pen, you'll be more than fine using that and saving the money if you choose. Lastly, coming from a Surface Pro 3 (with it's sharper, angled edges), there is a night and day improvement in the "hold-ability!" It feels lighter, is easier to keep in one hand, and the bezels are the perfect size for those with bigger hands, no palm overlap and no false touches!

I've been a traditional laptop user for many years, I bought my most recent laptop in 2010 as a top of the line Samsung (i7, 1tb HDD, dedicated graphics, ect). It served me well and last me through college, and my first major job. As I've settled into my new position, now years later, i'm noticing there is a significant slow down even opening a browser or spreadsheet. Im meetings or on the go it's pretty apparent that my needs are evolving and lunking around a 9lb laptop isn't feasible.
Que in the Surface Pro. A few of the guys use SP4 which i've admired for its slim build and overall sleekness. I've had reservations about the amount of a power that a 'tablet' could truly possess but i've been met with "just try it".
A couple weeks ago the internal battery died on my laptop and I figured now was the time to upgrade. So while shopping at BB the guy recommended I look into the ultra portable SP6 as they were on sale. I'M GLAD I DID. This thing is amazing. It hits all the right points. Its light, very responsive, and has windows 10 loaded right out the box. A few settings changes later and i'm back to normal. Being windows based any program I needed is compatible, The battery life is amazing. Speakers are great, The type cover feels great when typing and using the touch pad is simple.
I've even managed to get a little light gaming done in my off time. You may want to consider i7 16gb SP or a SB for video or music editing TLDR; this is the perfect all around 2:1 for anyone looking to break into the scene and replace an existing laptop.

The Surface is amazing, it is so thin and light but so powerful and fun to use. I opted for the low end version but it fits my daily needs off browsing the web and writing documents. The touchscreen tasks easier to do, I don't understand why all computers don't have touchscreens. I travel all the time so this is the perfect computer because it takes up hardly any space in my luggage. There's just something about the Surface that makes you enjoy sitting in front of a computer. I would without a doubt recommend this to anyone looking for a computer, no matter what your needs are.

The Surface Pro 6 12.3 " touch screen is a sleek, lightweight machine that is infinitely easier to carry around than my two-year old HP laptop. It is fast, has a great monitor that's bright and easy to read, and folds up smartly and compactly. The battery life is beyond hours, and into days. I rarely get excited about technology but I am absolutely in love with my new Surface Pro. Wish I'd bought it sooner! I carried around Europe for two weeks, then on a mountain trip, and then on a road trip in the U.S. It was equally workable in all locations.

I bought this for work and must say it's nice to have around. The battery life is pretty good; I think you can get 6+ hrs if you're surfing the web or using low power programs. I bought the silver Surface with the Burgundy keyboard, pen and mouse and it looks and works great.
This is the i5 with 8gb of ram. Strong performance, but always room to get more power, just don't want to burn a hole in my pocket. My only gripe with this tablet is how every accessory costs so much and Microsoft makes sure that every little thing you want to add is pricey. I know companies need to make money, but the tablet starts already at $700, at least throw something extra in.
*This has the 128gb of internal memory. I strongly recommend buying an extra 256gb micro SD or higher. 128gb just won't cut it. Otherwise, this thing is light, strong and fast. I also really like that you can connect a hard drive as well. USB port is a huge plus. Worth a buy.

I purchased this for my wife and she loves it. It is light weight and convenient to pack along. Every aspect of it performs well. She added the keyboard and mouse as extra data entry devices to keep the screen clear. However the touch screen works perfectly. It is easy on power usage. A great laptop/tablet for anyone.

I'm astonished by this piece of marvel as a both a software developer and an IT infrastructure specialist who formally worked in computer hardware maintenance.
I already own a workstation to carry over all the huge work-load. but I need something I can take to a library that will have the full computing power of a normal computer, despite the fact I sometimes find myself carrying a workstation notebook computer for work and need a super light solution to tuck along with it. the Surface Pro i5 addressed all my needs and had only one short coming that I'm willing to live with.
Pros addressed (Power modes)
- Battery saver turns this unit operational for multiple days of usage! or 1 full day non-stop operation used this while travelling, browsing and light editing of photos I took (~10 hours per charge)
- Standard Performance gives you the power of a dual core laptop (yes really) anything from compiling code, bulk editing photos or music, heavy office multi tasking etc. the RAM can handle it like knife through warm butter.
- Max Performance - I call this the Emergency Switch as I believe this should never be used outside the purposes of 4K Rendering, Heavy Duting Data restructuring, Whenever you find yourself doing something you're not supposed to be doing on a laptop, such as gaming, 4k professional rendering, CAD designs, heavy framework and AI projects. you'll need this mode. you MUST get the i7 Fan powered version to use this mode. I cannot stress this enough YOU MUST. because the i5 version is FANLESS and will reach a 100c in ~15 minutes of operation.
Make sure you know upfront what is your intent of the Surface you buy. do you want a better energy machine for everyday work. or you want a hardcore 3D design monster, filmmaking, or DJ at a party. is this your full-powered workstation unit? or a library / café companion?.
As library companion I have went through dozens of laptops (don't judge me) from macbook pro, to Lenovo Yoga Pro, and macbook air. you will NOT find an even near equivalent of this master-piece. I firmly believe that Windows 10 entirely was built to work for this machine.

I've been a committed Apple user for many years. I gave up on Microsoft once and for all somewhere around Windows 8 and switched to Mac computers. I don't know what made me buy the Surface Pro, but I'm glad I did. It is a beautiful way to rediscover Windows, but it is a fabulous computer regardless of operating system. It turns on very quickly, and the i5 CPU is plenty fast for all my uses. Excellent versatility - though as a tablet it is not quite as responsive as my iPad. The battery life appears to be better than any of my MacBook laptops, but I haven't used it enough to be absolutely sure about that statement. The screen size is just right and the resolution is excellent. The speakers can't compare with any of my Mac laptops, but I didn't buy the Surface Pro to listen to music. This is a hugely satisfying and surprising purchase. My opinion of Microsoft and Windows has needed to be radically revised because of this purchase.

Bought this to replace my surface pro 3, which was working great except I dropped it from 4 ft high with no protection and it landed on a corner, shattering the screen. I was able to get this setup how I like in minutes thanks to how windows 10 profiles work. Even though this isn't super powered with specs it works pretty flawlessly. I'm able to play games on it from steam and I use it for anything from helping my daughter with homework to reading kindle books to streaming shows to banking. Love that I could reuse my existing surface keyboard. The surface pro design is perfect for my needs - laptop when I need it to be, tablet when I want it to be. So portable I bring it with me on most vacations. Love it.

My surface pro is light and small enough it could fit in my purse if I wanted but has all the function of a larger laptop. I purchased to replace a Mac Air which had died, I love the mac but several of my programs had to be on pc and I never could get hang of the mac. I have been able to use the pc to easily install my programs and move files by myself. The salesperson was great. he listened to what I wanted in laptop and showed me the surface pro but was not pushy. He answered my questions and really knew the computers. I love that it can function like a tablet or use like laptop with the keyboard attached. Haven't found any cons yet. Pros are it is light, quick and able to do my design programs easily.

I have have had a surface for more than 5 years and I am happy to say that I am going to kept on buying one. The light sleek design of the computer makes it extremely easy to carry and haul around and the laptop is amazing for taking notes with a E-pen. The surface battery life is really good and the OS of Windows makes it easy to use. I would recommend this laptop over any Mac PC due to its better pricing and capability. I have tried other Laptop with some being extremely bad to other being slightly good, but overall I always came back to the surface. 10/10 for me.
