Agent sold me wrong device
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a device to view movies and books on while travelling. The agent sold me the Surface Pro 6, which was on offer which I found out within a day or two, would not do what I wanted it to. So I returned the Surface Pro to Best Buy

Couldn't connect to the Internet
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's small and the keyboard is hard to use. This one just would not connect to the Internet from our WiFi at home or in Best Buy, so we traded it in for full price that we paid and got another HP.

Look elsewhere
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well now I feel bad for writing a bad review about the Sig Type Cover. Turns out, a VERY well taken care of Surface Pro 6 has a hardware defect and no longer recognizes the keyboard. While I can still use a Bluetooth keyboard, it didn’t even last two years and Microsoft said the only recommendation would be to buy another one. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but this certainly won’t make me go out and buy another one.

Complete garbage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Where to even begin what a piece of garbage this thing is after three months no longer takes a charge lights are on on the charger. it doesn't want to connect to anything don't even think about trying to connect Bluetooth. In tablet mode it is completely useless, the interface is horrible and clunky, and I spent over 30 years and I spent over 30 years working in I.T. Working on all kinds of computers. I should have known better than to buy anything Microsoft

Terrible experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first purchased the Surface Pro 6, it was unstable right out of the box, needing to restart every couple of hours. Best Buy replaced it but I had to wait since it was out of stock. Now that I have it, there are so many problems. The operating system (WIndows 10) will not let me save files except into highest level directory, and most apps don't work because they cannot save files. I am very limited in what I can do with this computer.

Poor value: glitchy, overpriced, lacks substance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Surface Pro for about 5 months, and it continues to disappoint. I was initially drawn to it for the 2-in-1 versatility and technical specs (speed, storage, battery life, light weight), but it turns out, the Surface Pro leaves much to be desired. Here are my main sticking points: - The hardware for "laptop mode" needs work. The bottom of the kickstand has two tiny, rough notches that scratch up furniture, so I usually have to put something under it. And the attachable keyboard doesn't do anything structural for the "laptop", so if you actually use it in your lap, it's a balancing act; the tablet often falls over onto the keyboard and goes into sleep mode. The floppy keyboard also makes lifting and moving the laptop a two-handed job, despite the lightweight frame...Not a big deal, just annoying and impractical. - The screen and keyboard are both glitchy. The screen sometimes flickers or just goes to sleep while in use, it occasionally won't turn on after idling, and the keyboard is sometimes unresponsive so I have to re-attach it and/or restart the tablet. - The advertised specs are clearly exaggerated. For example, the battery lasts only about 6 hrs with just a browser running (including idle time), instead of the advertised 13.5 hrs. Also, the processing speed can get frustratingly slow at times (as I write my review, I have to wait a few seconds for the text to catch up with what I typed). - To justify the price of this product, Office should really be included. But, it's not. Instead, you either have to pay for annual subscription service or a one-time fee for the "classic" version (which will become outdated as soon as Microsoft comes out with a new update). - Windows needs to catch up with modern day. Several popular apps (like Prime Video and Google Photos) are not available in Windows, and some that are available (like Instagram) are clunky versions that are easier to use on a phone. - Finally, part of my negative review is for Best Buy itself: They only allow 2 weeks for returns, even for computers. To me, that's not enough time to evaluate a computer's performance. When I first started using the Surface Pro, I had an inkling it wasn't what I expected, but I thought maybe I just needed to get used to it. It wasn't until about a month later, after the return window had closed, that I realized just how much I regretted the purchase. Bottom line: This should really be a much cheaper product (like 250-350 range). The selling point that it's a lightweight, 2-in-1 *laptop* that converts into a tablet is misleading. Really, it's just a tablet with potential to become a Frankenstein laptop if you spend hundreds more on accessories (which you notice are readily and eagerly advertised). Looking back, I wish I had gone with a Chromebook, or just sucked it up and invested a bit more in a Mac. Either one would have been a much better value.

Best All Around Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the Surface Pro 6 as an upgrade to the Surface Pro 4. I have the i5 model, 8 gigs ram, 128 gig SSD. Hardware: Solid, cold metal construction, high quality feel. Light-weight and easy to hold in one hand, though the size may make one handed use difficult for long periods of time. The kick stand is significantly improved from years past, it maintains its position without any flex or wiggle. It continues to be a key feature, and makes this a great device for table, lap, counter use. The port selection is decent for most things. The charging port is magnetic, charging speed is adequate. The single USB port is good enough for most things, though power users may need a splitter. The power and volume buttons are solid. Keyboard: Much improved from years past, very good key action and travel. Feels pillowy and satisfying. Track pad is fairly large and soft to the touch, very nice. Display: One of the highest resolution, highest quality screens you can get on any device, absolutely a steal at this price point. Pixels are very hard to see unless you get very close to the screen. Contrast levels are excellent, viewing angles are top-notch. This is one of the best displays you will ever see on a laptop or tablet. Touch response is quick, accurate, a real pleasure to use. Software: Windows 10 Home is a joy to use, as always. The OS seems to be fairly well adapted to touch screen use, just like it is keyboard and mouse. Quick, responsive. The Solid State Drive makes things just fly, including restarting the computer. Conclusion: The best machine for most people. The best screen, and nearly the best typing experience especially considering it is a convertible. Highly recommend this device to almost anybody.

Really stellar - despite initial doubts
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was initially skeptical when I first bought the surface pro, but once I used the microsoft interface and app environment a bit this computer really showed its strengths. I am extremely impressed by its ease of use and practicality, as well as its power and capabilities. As a laptop this is a great piece of tech. As a tablet, it's not really amazing, but using it without the keyboard has been great for watching live sports and/or movies (while traveling). In terms of software and professional usability, I've been able to run all the programs I need for my work (usually done on my work-issued Dell laptop), both at home and while traveling (Office programs, VPNs, database access, etc). On the go is where the Surface Pro really shines, I find. It is very light, very thin, and can be brought and used anywhere (the microsoft store at the mall also has great accessories for travel). The bluetooth mouse and the pen are indispensable accessories, btw. After using this laptop for a month, I'm a believer. I prefer it to the macbooks I've owned in the past as far as actual usability (even if my wife's macbook is far more powerful than my surface pro - it also cost four times as much). The only compromise I find is that there are some apps that aren't available in tablet mode (therefore can't be used while offline, such as on a plane), but that's a minor thing, really.
