Its not the best and not the worst. I had gotten it to make online schooling easier, which it has. Some of the microsoft apps work amazing until they don't.

I'm honestly not very impressed with the performance or the screen quality. I bought it for drawing and computer work, but staring at this specific screen is hard on the eyes and it never seems "bright" enough sometimes. I don't know how to describe it accurately. It lags and froze on me twice in my first week using it. I also feel like my phone outperforms this tablet and it's four years old. I would've just spent money on a better laptop had i known, honestly.

I expected this to be a better but has let me down. I constantly have issues playing Netflix and Hulu. I also expected Microsoft to have more apps for drawing but they are really lacking on those apps. Or they don't support the apps that I am use to using. You also have to purchase the pen and keyboard separately which is still expensive so I suggest buying from ebay or amazon to get a cheapy one.

Bought this for a relative who had a Surface Pro 4 which was used many hours every day. This 7 is almost the same machine, which is fine, but it's screen cracked *on it's own* after just 2 months of use. This didn't happen on the Pro 4 after 4years and my relative is certain it was not dropped! Yikes! Apparently, this screen is an issue - seems to be a common problem.

My purchase has been changed twice. The original online purchase was for next day store pickup; but after 3-5 hours I recd an update that I couldn’t pick the item up. So I changed to delivery for the second day. This time after a day, I read notification that the item was delayed at least one more day.

    The best gets better

I've exclusively used Surface devices since the Surface Pro 2. I've had multiple Pros, the Go, and Books. I've loved them all. This feels like the perfection of all of those devices. The 7th gen is basically the perfect Surface. The design is perfect. Its thin and light enough to be totally portable. But its not so thin that it feels too dense and like it'll slip out of your hand. You can get a good grip on this device in ways you can't on devices that are too thin (Pro X, iPad, etc.) The bezels are also the right design for a tablet. With the iPad or Pro X your hand will always be over part of the screen, or you'll have an unsafe grip. The thumb sized bezels are exactly what you want on a tablet. Any thinner is designing for reviewers and marketing shots rather than real people using the devices. The kickstand is of course perfect and gives you access to any possible angle you could want. The port selection is practical and appropriate for a computer with Pro in the name: USB A, USB C, Micro SD, Headphones. I use my Surface for music production and can't use a computer that doesn't allow me to use wired headphones and USB devices. And there's no way I'm going to chance missing a dongle with a client or at a gig. This is a true Pro computer because it has the ports and expandability you need. Accept no substitutes - if you need dongles the its not Pro. The screen size is perfect. Big enough to be used as a PC on its own, but small enough to read or do light browsing or email in tablet mode. Any smaller and the PC functionality suffers, any larger and the tablet functionality suffers. This is the right size and right aspect ratio to be perfect for both use cases. The speakers are loud and surprisingly good and the analog out has no noticeable hum or interference. USB C is useful for displays and, in a pinch, topping off with some juice, but no hardware uses it. The inclusion of USB A ensures whatever you do you can hook it up. In my case synthesizers, mixing boards, and drum machines all hook up fine to the standard port. Overall everything about this device is perfect. I cannot fault anything about it - this is exactly the PC and tablet I wanted. But there's more reason to praise it - it's not just the perfect design. Its the performance. This is the best performing Surface I've ever owned. In all the years I've been a Surface user the only complain I've had has been that performance never quite felt up to what the specs should deliver. The UI was always a little laggy, performance in my audio production and development tools always felt lower than I expected. The 10th gen chip finally seems to have the "oomph" these devices needed to put them over the edge. Everything has been smooth and fast. I even did some benchmarks and this i5 Pro is faster than my i7 Book 2. I ran the test twice to be sure and it is actually faster. There's very little you can't do with this device. It is basically the perfect computer / tablet hybrid. The only real complaint I have isn't a Pro 7 complaint, its a Surface complaint: Keyboard and Pen sold separately make you think you are spending less than you are. They are mandatory purchases, so factor it in. Other than that this is the Surface I always knew was possible, it just took time for the tech to catch up.

I’ve only owned six months and already experiencing pressure marks or dead pixels in the screen. Have only used a total of maybe eight times in the six months since purchasing. Computer was always kept in separate purchase case and very well taken care of

This device seems great in theory, but I've never had such a poor experience with a brand-new device that just *doesn't* work. Despite following all proper procedures, the first Surface Pro 7 I had involved a tablet with a touch screen that didn't work, and the second one involved a glitch where the computer would completely shut down if inactive for just 10-15 seconds (requiring a hard reset to turn on again each time). I am currently on my third SP7 and I'm hoping I won't encounter any issues with this one. The Best Buy staff was great -- this device is not.

I did three returns on this Surface Pro 7. All of them stopped working about 30-45 days after I got each one home. The computers were working fine one moment and then the screen went black and could not do anything. All three computers were brand new in box when I purchase them and had the same issue so I decided to purchase something else.

This is why I am giving this product a good rating. The usb slot on the charger when used is on and off. A charger without this problem was easy to find.

I think the Microsoft Surface series has gotten a lot of criticism over the years. Microsoft didn't know how to launch this series. But now, they're getting close to cornering both the Windows tablet and laptop markets. Below are a few things you need to know before buying this. It should be obvious but consumer electronics, especially laptops, are going fast. If you're considering buying this (I hate to say this) but I'd suggest buying it now rather than saving up your money. It's your money but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if this is completely gone in a couple of months. I also wouldn't suggest buying through aftermarket, scalper prices. When you buy this you're only getting the screen with a charging brick. That's it. No keyboard, no pen, no SD card, nothing else. This is one of many criticisms the Surface series launched with years ago. Unfortunately, Microsoft isn't lowering their prices and including what I would consider necessary accessories you're forced to spend extra money on. In saying that, buy the Surface keyboard, an SD card to expand the storage, and, if you think you need it, the surface pen. I would say, get the keyboard first and wait on the other items. SD Card Storage thankfully is inexpensive these days so that shouldn't be an issue. I'd also get an adapter of some kind to expand the I/O. You can find third-party I/O expansion adapters, specifically for this device, that will give you wired ethernet, HDMI out, extra SD card slots, and extra USB-C and USB-A slots. I haven't stress tested the battery but a large, external battery probably wouldn't hurt either. Overall, I wanted a laptop/tablet combo that could handle all the Microsoft-based software I'm throwing at it - below $1,000. It has full Windows 10 and, besides high-ending gaming, basically does what all my other Windows PCs do. Sure, I'm excited for more powerful, lighter, and thinner future versions; but Microsoft should really make these cheaper and include the keyboard and pen.
