I brought this over the new Samsung S7 tablet but I might return it. A mix of poor hardware choices such as no fingerprint reader, low memory, and a skimpy processor for the price. Add in the keyboard and pen and you will see it is not the best deal. The Edge browser is the worst. How could MS mess up the Chromium browser after Google made Chrome so good. Also, Edge makes the search engine and start page hard to modify. Something Chrome does not do and let's face it Google has its issues but their search engine is really good. Bing is just a mess and MSNBC news just plain stinks. I had to install Chrome to get a real browser and now it prompts me to make Edge and Bing my default. I guess MS needs people to use their bad browser. It's a shame IE was once my favorite browser. Well, it's good that it can still run MS Office but add that to the already expensive bill for this product. You better be doing many Office tasks to get your money back. Sadly I like my $200 Chromebook Duet better. It runs the free Android MS Office and Google Docs. It also performs tasks, as well as this overpriced tablet. My 2 in 1 Laptop, blows the doors off this thing and I can dual boot my laptop between Windows and Linux. So if I need power I can use my 17 inch 2 in 1 or when needing a tablet I can use the Chromebook Duet together they cost Maybe $100 more than this under-powered tablet. For this money, the tablet should have better hardware and definitely a fingerprint reader in this day and age.

    Multiple Issues

I wanted a 2-in-1 device for college but I've now had the surface pro 7 for about 2 months and often have regrets buying it. It's had issues ever since I first got it but I thought maybe it just needs to start up or update for a bit but the problems haven't gone away. Issues: - keyboard "turns off" after going like 1 min or even less without using it and it takes a few seconds before it turns on for some reason - sometimes when I still have the keyboard attacked but press on the screen to enter a website, the touch keyboard pops up even if I'm not typing and will pop up every time I press on the screen, even if it's just to open a course. - needs updates and to restarted OFTEN. One time I was just sitting 5 mins before I had a zoom meeting and it decided to restart and update by itself without giving me a warning. Thankfully it's usually pretty fast about that but still does it too often for my liking. - also lags fairly often. sometimes the whiteboard app will lag a lot and when I try erasing things turns out they weren't erased. It also lags sometimes when I try scrolling, whether it's with the attachable keyboard or the touch screen. - taskbar is also an issue. it changes around the apps/settings on the task bar and sometimes the time disappears altogether and the arrow showing more options won't open if I click it. And the apps that I have pinned on my taskbar will sometimes not all show at once (even though it's not a lot) and it will have me scroll for them. - when I'm watching movies in fullscreen, sometimes when I press on the screen the start menu will open for no reason and it'll block the movie and it takes multiple presses for it to go away and go back to the movie. - also have issues when I use my airpods with it. The volume worked fine at first but after a bit whenever I had my airpods connected I wouldn't be able to raise or lower the volume at all from the keyboard, the tablet buttons, or even the menu at all. Only thing that fixed it would be me completely forgetting the airpods and then connecting again. But then it would go back to not working again in a few days. - Usually loses battery pretty quickly too - Glitches sometimes Pros: - pretty good at saving downloads/documents Overall, due to my personal experiences, I would not recommend. But I do know it works completely fine for others. I will try to take it in to be fixed but considering the fact that it's new, it's already a con that all of these issues occurred to soon. I'm just hoping mine was one of few and that this isn't the norm for surface pros.

I love this tablet! It has been working since the day I bought it, and I couldn't be happier, and I don't have to install anti-virus software on it either, unlike windows laptops.! Plus this is cheaper compared to laptops in general for I bought it while it was on sale.

I was looking for a laptop because I needed one since I was starting medical school. It was between this one and a Mac Pro. I decided to go with this one since it was touch screen and I bought the pen to be able to take notes. The first 2.5 months were great but after that it went downhill. I started having ghost screens appear and the screen was flickering. This occurred on a daily basis and it got to the point where if I was in lecture on zoom it would be hard to see what was happening. Additionally, doing my schoolwork was made more difficult because of the constant flickering. If you’re in medical school there is no time to waste so this was an added stressor. I didn’t have time to get it fixed because it was 6+ weeks to get it back. I took my last exam of the semester with ghost screens which showed previous questions on top of the question I was on and it was also flickering. If reading that gives you anxiety just imagine living it. The flickering and ghost screens did improve but then surprise having the laptop for 4 months the battery went out and I had to buy a new one which was $130! I thought the struggles ended and as we speak the computer doesn’t want to turn on despite being plugged up. This is what prompted me to write this review. I never write reviews but this laptop has caused a lot of frustration in a situation where my stress level is already super high. And for the amount of money I spent I would expect it to last longer without issues than it has. If you’re a medical school student or someone that needs to use a computer for a significant amount of time like 10+ hours daily don’t get this. Thank god I still have my Dell computer from like 2015 because that still works better than this most days.

We're sorry that there's an issue with your Surface. First, we recommend updating its software and firmware to the most recent version. If that doesn't help, please run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit to diagnose and fix any problems. For more information on the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, please go here: https://aka.ms/AA4r432 If that doesn't take care of the problem, we recommend that you contact Microsoft Support for assistance here: https://aka.ms/AA4rbq6 Microsoft

I had a Surface Pro 4 and loved it. I upgraded to the Pro 7 in 2019 and it was great until recently. Now the WiFi and type cover randomly disconnect and will not reconnect. Looking online these issue seem to be common with many other people. I have followed official Microsoft trouble shooting and nothing works. Also Windows 11 is horrible. Ever since upgrading from 10 to 11 the above issues have worsened, along with the battery life. I can no longer recommend this once loved device.

This is not a Best-buy fault but rather a Microsoft one. I bought mine in 2020, less than a year it acted up. It didn't start, it always got stuck on windows screen, etc. Lots of startup issues. Manufacturer warranty gave me a replacement but it was a REFURBISHED one which ticked me off. AGAIN within a year of getting my replacement I had the same issue and now it doesn't turn on at all, and I'm not covered under the warranty anymore so basically I just got screwed. For the price I expected a really great tablet/laptop but that's not the case. The surface pro 7 is absolute garbage and DO NOT BUY IT.
