Love my surface pro. It’s lightweight yet durable and I love the flexibility of tablet vs laptop.

Love it, i've had the surface pro 4,6,7. Thus far this is the best one and i love the surface pro's versatility, i can laydown and use it as a tablet by simply detaching the keyboard. I purchased the 128gb and simply swaped out the memory for a 512 gb 2230 from ebay for less than $100. Surface pros are on the pricey side though, but worth it if you want to have a portable light PC which can turn into a tablet or a full PC without the keyboard.

I got it on sale, and I replaced the hard drive with a faster 1TB for much less than buying the model with the TB drive and this thing is works great.

Not a good purchase for any purpose really

I bought this Surface Pro primarily because I wanted a digital drawing tablet, but the iPad Pro is too limited with a mobile OS on it. So I decided to go with the Surface Pro 8 with full Windows 11 OS to have some versatility and be able to use the tablet for on the go productivity in addition to drawing. I'm not happy with this tablet for any purpose though. Let's start with the pen, since that was my primary motivator. It is mediocre at best. It has a noticeable input delay, and it also still has a lot of jitter in it like previous iterations of surface tablets / pens. Also the Surface Slim Pen 2 is frankly not all that comfortable to hold the way it's shaped, but I'll save that for a review on that pen. Next I'll go through the tablet itself. I'll start with the positives since those are far fewer than the negatives. The speakers on this thing are descent. They have an impressive amount of volume for such a small device, and they sound pretty nice. While not "punchy" there is a note of bass in them. The screen is the other nice thing about this tablet. It's a very pixel dense and color rich display. If you turn the brightness up. And it does get pretty bright. But... that brightness is going to cost you big time. The size of it is descent as well, but again that is going to cost you. And, that is about where the positives stop. This device is heavy for a tablet. It gets uncomfortable quick holding it with one hand. Then there is the heat, even idling this thing produces a LOT of heat. Like, enough so that after idling for a few minutes resting your palm on the screen to start drawing will make your hand noticeably warm. It gets to out right scorching if you are actually doing something to load the processor up. While on the subject of the processor. It's weak. The i5 in this thing just doesn't do anything well. Even just opening basic applications like file explorer has lag to it. Further, the 8GB of ram on the base model is no where near enough. On first boot 4.9 GB was being used before even opening an application. Windows 11 seems to be a huge memory hog. Then there is the other side of the processor, the integrated gpu. Best Buy is currently selling this table with a free game pass subscription and a free xbox controller as if this thing can be used for gaming. Lol... this thing can't even run basic games on low settings. There is zero reason to have a controller with this device. I couldn't even get many games to launch, and those that I could were just a slide show. I'll quickly mention the signature type cover but do a more in depth review of it on that product. It's pretty mediocre. They haven't improved it since the type cover on the original surface really. The trackpad is small, the keyboard is not full size, the key travel is adequate, but the flex is horrible. You are not going to be doing any serious long duration typing on this thing comfortably. Also, take note that if you snap the keyboard to the bottom of the screen (so that it is at a slight angle and not flat on the table) then it covers up the bottom edge of the screen. Pretty poor design IMO. Another thing to mention is the battery. Again here, it's terrible. After initially charging the device to 100%, it lost 14% in 20 minutes of web browsing. And that is with the brightness on the screen pretty low and only a 60 hz (it can go to 120hz). On top of the mediocre hardware, windows 11 is not a great os. It had to be updated before the on screen keyboard would even work... good thing I purchased the type cover cause that would have been a pain lol. And Windows 11 is still pretty bad for a touch OS. I was really hoping they had improved the touch friendliness of it with the new UI, but they didn't. It's as bad as ever. So ultimately, there is nothing that justifies the price of this device. It's not a good device for really any purpose. It is lackluster in almost every regard.

Don’t like the fact that my old keyboard wouldn’t work on the newer machine. Guess they needed to sell more keyboards. Found a bluetooth one for $49 on eBay that works, but not as well as the previous one. Other than that, the machine is fine. I use it more like a laptop, and would have gotten the laptop version except that my old Surface died and it was easier to sell a new Surface to my wife instead of another laptop.

Wanted to get a pc for editing and some minor gaming. This is flawless and if you've never had a surface before every thing is an "awe" moment. I absolutely love it and is a very portable pc.

I traded in my SP7 I3 model for the SP8 I5 model and I am so happy that I did. This device is much more responsive. The upgrade to the CPU, and RAM has made a world of difference. With that said though the surface are great products but are overpriced given the specs, and the KB and pen are separate purchase's. Microsoft needs to work on bringing the price points down to be inline with similar products made by other manufacturers

Awesome improvement over the Surface pro 7 and X. I purchase all the IT for our company and decided to give this a try to start replacing our surface pro X that we had nothing but issues with. Its light weight even with keyboard and pen compared to the 7 and works a heck of a lot better than the X since the X emulates 64 bit apps.

Overall a pretty nice product. The back support however has pretty well worn out due to use, for roughly a year. You would want to get an additional case for this, as it gets dented / bent easily. The resolution is nice and you can watch some epic movies on here. Used for a year to watch youtube and draw on so its pretty okay for that. Would not recommend for children.
