2 Steps forward - 2 Steps back
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent device for just about all normal business activities - speed, screen size and portability. However, missing is the micro-SD card slot that I had on the previous models, and it seems a little too thick. If you had and want the SD slot, do not upgrade.

It’s light, fast, and durable.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works great. It’s very light and mobile. It’s very sturdy and durable. I work outside and I needed something that would take some abuse. I was surprised how fast it is. The new windows doesn’t bother me at all. I’m very happy with it.

Worth the upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased a i5 7 and wasn’t quite happy with it.. felt it could’ve delivered more - few weeks later this releases I decide to pay up a bit return the 7 and gamble with the 8. Best decision hands down. This 8 feels like a true pro device. The changes to the screen in both the bezel size & resolution is noticeable. I would pick the 7 up here and there and the battery would be dead every time.. this device I can not touch for a week and it’ll still have a charge! Love this device

Nice Surface pro 8
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid laptop was my everyday carry to work laptop. I have used these since the beginning of the pro line this is one of the best 8GB RAM seems small but it worked fine, you can easily upgrade the hard drive so I recommend going small on that upgrading if you wish later.

Great product
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product other than network security issues. This product has outperformed newer products I purchased to beat the network security BS i'm dealing with.

Misleadingly larger in person.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's heavy for what it should be. Like as a laptop, it's nice and light. As a tablet... it leaves much to be desired. I love the design of the pro7, but unfortunately, it became dated. Plus no real cooling on the processors would bog down the machine. The i5 chips (of the same generation) work better on cheaper machines, for no other reason than better thermals. I wanted a drawing machine, but all the compromises leave much to be desired. I feel like 80% of the people who buy one of these would buy it as a secondary computer/laptop. It's slightly heavier and bulkier than you'd like it to be. It's hard to hold it in your hands for a while, especially if you want to use it as a digital notepad. The 7's size was better suited and perfect for it, the 8's weight feels significant after a while. Ipad and Android OS leave much to be desired, especially if you want to use things like full MS excel and Word. You can get away with alternatives, but there are always that one or two options the mobile versions sometimes lack. If they made a surface go 3 with these same internals, it would be perfect as a on the road device. I don't hate the kickstand device, but it means the device needs more real estate on small desks/tables, and you can't push the device further back on certain places. I also wish they added just one more set of magnets or a clip for the type cover so when you do open it up all the way behind the device it would stay in place. The bottom main magnets fall off to easily in this mode, and it's not fun in a $1000+ investment, to have that lack of ease of mind. At black friday/pre-christmas prices, I'd recomend buying this product at that deep discounted price. Especially now over the pro 9. The lack of headphone jack was a dealbreaker for me. I prefer watching movies with external speakers when I'm at home, and bluetooth doesn't 100% sinc up every time. (its getting better, but it's not perfect) Honestly, this product seems to be for a very niche audience, and perhaps I'm just not it.

Good while it worked
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked the tablet for studying. I felt that it offered several different angles that were great and one note being native was a plus for me. The computer was light to carry and never really over heated, but I was using this pretty lightly. The problem for me was that it stopped working less than 6 months into owning the device and support offered practically no help. The device would power on for a split second and then just turn off; none of the typical solutions worked (I even read that slightly bending the device helps and tried it to no avail). Their only suggestion was to send it in to be serviced which the rep said takes on average anywhere from a week to over a month. Very disappointed in Microsoft as a brand for this. I understand why Apple can charge such a premium now, even for having less features. Honestly wish that I could return it for a refund rather than sending it in and risking that they send me a refurbished model as a consolation. I paid over $1,000 for something that after not working 6 months in you think is okay to send me someone else's discarded choice? Maybe I'm just old school, but I think it only be fair that I be offered a new product or a refund. I paid for a new product, I didn't break this one or alter it, why do I now get an inferior product (sorry, I don't really care how well your refurbishment process is, used is used).

Best laptop for work
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, I’ve always had company laptops and it has been years since I purchased a new personal laptop. I truly am very very happy with choosing Microsoft surface pro8. It’s amazing! 1-light 2-convenient size 3- very practical 4-touch screen 5- easy to hook and connect to a big monitor for training purposes or for presentations. 6-Great key board style. I truly loved it and In fact I purchased another one for my 18 years old son for college. A lot of money spent but it’s worth it!

Only downfall is there is no simple solution for storing the 1st generation pen. Other than that clear fast computer.

Nice Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the fourth Surface Pro I've owned (purchased Surface Pro 3, 4 and 6 previously), so I'm very comfortable with the device. Compared to the Surface 6, the video on this model is an upgrade. I particularly see it in video calls for work. Some items worth noting: 1. This model uses the same Surface Pro keyboard as the Surface Pro X. It is not compatible with previous Surface Pro keyboards. 2. The new Surface pen does store and charge itself in the indention at the top of the keyboard. The new Surface pen can remain in that slot if you angle the keyboard without issue. 3. There are no USB A port nor a mini Display Port in this unit, so if you have any adapters you used with the previous Surface Pro line for external monitors, hard drives or network interfaces you will need to replace them. 4. I do have a first generation Surface Dock and it does work with this model without issue.
