Bought this to use for music writing and reading on the go, and it does that beautifully! Definitely a game-changer for running pretty heavy-duty software in such a portable way. That said, it (of course) comes packed with bloatware and extras that are difficult to remove or turn off. I've spent at least two hours painstakingly combing through the settings with only some success. I am still met upon every bootup with reminders to add a Microsoft Office subscription, notifications about the stock market or recent sporting events, or alerts warning me that I've declined the Xbox gaming trial - none of which I want, and all of which clutter my screen and slow the system down. I also find the pen to be somewhat confusing, and the system doesn't always respond well having the keyboard connected and disconnected - it particularly struggles in portrait mode. I do suspect that I'll get more accustomed to the pen and have more success, and I've learned what works best when rotating and using the keyboard, so all in all I don't find those issues to be more than annoyances. Again, overall, exactly what I expected and does what I need well. Still disappointed to see how much of a fight you have to put up to get rid of all the adware, bloatware, and other garbage.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 may be a tablet, but it runs the full version of Windows and all the same software as my desktop and laptop computers, so it feels like much more than “just” a tablet. The device itself is slim and sleek, with fantastic build quality. It just feels sturdy, solid, and high quality. The screen is bright and goes almost all the way to the edges on the short sides, with relatively slim margins/bezels on the long sides. On-screen touch is accurate and responsive. The speakers sound surprisingly good, although I primarily use headphones. There’s no headphone jack (like most devices these days, I suppose), but I was able to connect my Bluetooth headphones quickly and easily. There's even a magnetic access door under the kickstand for upgrading the SSD storage. As far as connections go, the Surface Pro 9 is minimalist, with just the proprietary Surface power port and two USB-C/Thunderbolt ports. Fortunately, those Thunderbolt ports are quite versatile, and can be used with hubs, docking stations, even to charge the tablet. As far as accessories go, my only complaint about the Surface Pro 9 might be that doesn’t come with two of its best features – the keyboard cover and pen. The Surface on its own is great. Add the pen, and it’s much more versatile. With the keyboard, and it’s entirely replaced my laptop. So overall, the Surface Pro 9 great, but it’s truly exceptional once you add the keyboard and pen. I’m glad I have both!

There’s not a great deal to say about this Surface Pro 9. Like previous Surface computers from Microsoft, setup is fast and easy, the accessory keyboard attaches easily and is comfortable to use, and the computer is very light, making it perfect for travel, carry in a backpack or briefcase, etc. The screen is easy to read. The thing to keep in mind with these Surface devices is that the only connectivity is USB-C (Thunderbolt) ports, and there are two. If you want to attach an external mouse, a larger keyboard, an external monitor, printer, scanner, memory card reader, or whatever, you’ll likely run out of ports faster than you can say boo. So you’ll need a docking station, which will also give you additional USB ports of different styles along with the various types of ports mentioned. I find that I need such a thing because I like to be able to use a computer like this as my only machine, so I disconnect everything when I’m on the road or in any way away from my desk, and then, when I’m back at my desk, I like to connect one device to get all of my peripherals connected at one time. Overall, I would highly recommend the Surface Pro 9.

It has served me well for almost 4 years. It is reliable, durable and has great performance . I find it very useful for my travels and for college work . It has enough space to handle all my files . It is never slow. One of my better buys .

I got this to test so I did not purchase it. I was able to set this up my self and get the keyboard attached. It is fairly intuitive to set up, which is good since I usually need to hire my neighbor to set up new computers for me. I generally use a desk top computer or my mini iPad. The pro was very similar to my desk top and if you used Microsoft 365, this would be a great addition since you could access all of your Word, Excel and Power Point from the cloud. The Pro was slightly lighter in weight than my Laptop. The Pro was similar to the large IPad but has more functionality. The 8 GB didn’t seem like much storage for the price. It could be used with or without the keyboard. Computer devices like this all depend on what it is needed for and which functions you need. If you are just reading news on line or doing email, the. I would stick with an IPad. But if you are a professional that wants to have access to documents on the go or during a commute, than this would be a great addition.

This is my 4th Surface Pro since they came out. Here is my grind! It seems the Microsoft rather than trying to provide the best bang for buck simply forces you to spend more and more money!!! I bought this unit with certain expectations based on the previous models that I have owned only to be shorted! Gone is the USB A which is what is most commonly used. In its place are two USB C connections. I have found this transition to be forced and very irritating! Having to buy extra products I didn't need. Granted it is a superior connection. There is enough room on the side of these for multiple connections of every type you can imagine. It's like they are in bed with the manufacturer of this particular connector, Then there is the lack of the mini-SD card port on the back of this unit. My previous model I had the 256 SSD as well as the 256 mini SD for an unbeatable combination. So here is my final take on this unit. Performance is a solid 9. However, the extremely poor flexibility of this unit drops my rating to a solid 2 and nothing more. In all honesty, I have liked all of my surface pro's. However, they always seem to short you on ports one way or the other. Microsoft can do better and should be for the money they are charging for these units! One final note, having to pay an extra $179.00 for a keyboard is just ridiculous. Same keyboard that used to be $99.00? Then if you want a keyboard with a little pocket in it for your $100.00 pen, that keyboard is $279.00? What? I am thinking this is going to be my last Surface Pro. Thinking about just taking this one back and going a different route altogether for much less...

Great laptop! Love how easy everything is. Only down side is price of everything for it.

Had a surface book 2 prior to this for college and loved it, but always liked the smaller profile of the main surface lineup so I decided to get one of these and love it, good processing power! And enjoy the detachable keyboard and pen for sure!

I had been using this for weeks now. Decent device, works well but sometimes requires a restart (rarely) when things hung up. Probably because of my usage.

Have been using different versions of the surface pro for almost 10 years. Although every now and then I have to restart to resync pen I am very happy with my purchase. It is the perfect device for a busy student who needs to multitask.

Love this! Wanted it for illustrating books and it works perfectly for me. I no longer need my phone and chrome book to complete my task.
