Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Surface Pro's portability, battery life, and build quality. Many users find the device performs well, with a fast processor and a bright screen, while remaining lightweight and dissipating heat effectively. However, some customers are negative about the limited port selection and the storage capacity. The form factor of the 12" screen is also a point of discussion.

The device when received (by shipment) was dented, impacting the keyboard connection. The dent was visible on both sides, which raised concern about its longevity and ability to function without any unknown internal issues. The software is as expected, however not ideal for a laptop replacement due to the battery life. If that is not an issue, then it is a great companion for moving around. It would be good if Microsoft could allow for the stylus use to be more seamless, and also not impacted if the rest of the hand rests on the screen while writing, not everyone can write at that upright position comfortably.

I’ve been able to spend a few days with the Surface Pro 12, a portable PC tablet with a 12” touchscreen LCD screen, a Snapdragon X Plus 8 core processor, and 16 GB of Ram. Storage is at 256 GB of RAM, and it comes with 2 USB-C ports. This bundle includes a keyboard that snaps into place, and has a nice Alcantara finish on the backside, and the tablet itself feels nice and premium. I’m going to get some of my dislikes out right off the bat. First, no power supply in the box. Just a USB C cable. Microsoft says that any 27W or higher USB-C supply should work. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything higher than a 20 Watt power supply sitting around, so charging is extremely slow and the cable and the power supply I have get very warm. That means that I will have to buy an additional power supply capable of charging the Surface Pro 12. In the past, the Surfaces that I purchased came with a power port unique to the Surfaces, so one of the USB ports didn’t have to be utilized for a power input. Not happening on this Surface Pro. Speaking of USB ports, all this tablet comes with are two USB-C/3.2 plugs. If you are hoping for wired connectivity, this will be a limited factor. My last gripe has to do with the kickstand that the Surfaces come with. It is virtually impossible to place the Surfaces Pro 12 on your lap and type on it. It doesn’t sit on the legs well, due to the design of the kickstand. I keep hoping that Microsoft will figure out something different here, but it’s still the same design as the Surface Pro that I have from several years ago. Okay, now that my griping is done, onto the good. In use, the Surface Pro 12 was snappy, never got hot, never got bogged down through use, never stuttered, locked up, or hesitated; it simply worked and did so very well. And the battery life was absolutely outstanding. I went a full day of use, never turning the screen off, using the Microsoft suite of programs, watching Netflix, browsing the web, and responding to emails and still had half a battery left at night. Two thumbs up for that! Another plus is the keyboard. Very responsive, has a great feel, and easy to type on. In conclusion, pretty happy with this unit. Connectivity is a little sparse for me, I could have really used an added standard USB port (yeah, I still have a lot of peripherals that have the ‘old’ USB connections), and I was a little disappointed in the screen brightness and the lack of a power supply. But otherwise, I think this is a great little tablet that fits well into its price point.

The Microsoft Surface Pro is a 12" tablet with an attachable keyboard and a Windows 11 operating system. Because it has a Snapdragon ARM-based CPU it is not the same as a Win 11 laptop or PC with an AMD or Intel x86-based CPU. If you are not aware of the difference you should research it. Not all apps, (especially gaming apps) that run on an AMD or Intel CPU equipped device have a version that runs on a Snapdragon equipped device. This package, the tablet plus keyboard, comes with only a USB-C cable, NO charger. It requires a minimum 27 Watt or higher USB-C charger, so if you don't have one, you'll need to buy one. The small 5-Watt ones won't work, but if you have a 27 Watt or greater USB-C laptop charger it will work. The Surface Pro will only draw the power it needs. The tablet has simple controls- a power button and volume button. It has 2 USB-C ports, that's it. There are no other ports, no SD card slot and no headphone jack. Besides the fact of no charger included and limited ports, there's a lot to like about this Surface Pro! It's a great portable personal tablet/PC device. It's packed with the latest technology- Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus CPU, Qualcomm Hexagon NPU (neural processing unit) 256 GB UFS storage, and 16 GB RAM- making it capable of easily handling resource intensive tasks or applications or multitasking in everyday use. The 12" display, Microsoft's PixelSense Flow touch screen, has terrific image quality. It has HDR for video streaming and a screen resolution of 2196 x 1464. Not quite true 2K but a noticeable step up from FHD 1080p. I watched a movie on it and the picture was absolutely gorgeous. Also, the Qualcomm Aqstic Audio is outstanding - very immersive, clear and crisp. Impressive sound from such a small device. The tablet has a front and back camera and array mic. The keyboard easily magnetically attaches to the tablet and is held firmly in place, and also is easily detached. The keyboard keys have a smooth feel to them, and I was pleased and impressed to see that it's backlit. The tablet has a kickstand that folds out from the back to hold it up so it can be used like a laptop/PC. Both the tablet and keyboard are very high quality that's apparent in both look and feel. Lastly, battery life is advertised to be 16 hours, but of course that depends on how it's used. Based on my usage, I'd say you can expect at least 10 hours. Overall, to me the positives of build quality, component quality, portability, display quality, and sound quality far outweigh the few negatives of some app limitations due to the ARM-based Snapdragon CPU, extra cost of a charger if you don't have one, and limited ports. Some may also view 256 GB of storage as too limited, but for the average everyday user 256 GB is more than enough. I think this Surface Pro is a great choice for anyone looking for a small portable tablet/pc.

Lightweight, fast, great alternative to an iPad

This Surface Pro is a perfect alternative to an iPad or Android tablet. If you only need web applications, and access to Microsoft Office or to consume media this tablet is great. The ARM processor is great for power use and speed when you need a computer on the go that works like a tablet but still can be a productivity tool. In terms of hardware, the screen/display and sound is great. The keyboard is what you'd expect to see from Microsoft and feels pretty solid with the right feel for typing and using it wherever you go. I think it's just the right size to take with you on the go. The touchpad has a nice feel and is responsive but not too sensitive. It comes with a USB-C charging cable so you can charge it wherever you go, but doesn't come with the AC adapter, so make sure you either have one already or get one with this. The only thing to be aware of with the ARM processor is that some programs which don't have ARM support may not work properly. Microsoft has a list of compatible software so if you have a specific program you need to run you should check to see if it's listed first. There are some on the list that do work that are not listed and they are updating compatibility all the time. The programs you might run into issues in emulation are with are those with specific graphics requirements or work with special hardware. In a nutshell, if you want a tablet that's like a computer for certain tasks like email, and office applications this little tablet is great. It's fast, has great battery life and works pretty good. I'd recommend it if you don't need to do gaming or have special apps or programs you need to use that are not on the compatibility list.

I was excited to receive this Microsoft Surface Pro 12" Copilot Snapdragon Tablet to evaluate and review. It comes nicely packaged and the build quality is excellent. With a stron metal jacket encasing the tablet, it is built to last and provide a great amount of use. The Microsoft Surface Pro is equipped with a 12" color touchscreen, Copilot AI, front and rear-facing cameras, and voice capabilities. An optional detachable padded Keyboard and a Surface Slim Pen are available. The back of the tablet has a grooved area to attach the Surface pen and the lower half of the back folds out to act as a kick-stand for the tablet. Setting up the Surface Pro 12" tablet takes a little time and is easy to get to the settings and applications you want so as to make it yours. The tablet is lightweight, has a long lasting battery, and is quite comfortable to travel with or use at home or office. There are two USB-C ports for charging or attaching other devices. I really like this new Microsoft Surface Pro 12" Copilot + PC and plan on using it as my go to travel laptop/tablet.

Microsoft Surface is Easy for A Busy Life

The Microsoft - Surface Pro - Copilot+ PC - 12 - Snapdragon X Plus 8 Core - 16GB RAM - 256GB UFS - Device + Keyboard Bundle in platinum is very sleek and a nice way to have both a tablet that doubles as a laptop when attaching the keyboard, a 2 in 1 design. I am a 66-year-old female CPA that has been around, since forever, desktops for work and personal purposes, all Windows systems. I have 2, now grown children, that needed laptops for college, and have recently acquired a Chromebook to carry around since they are relatively inexpensive to travel with in case of theft or damage. However, I have never owned any iteration of the Microsoft Surface, so this is all new to me. Microsoft does a nice job of packaging this product; It is classy, compact, and well protected from possible shipping issues. Inside the package, in its own box, is the platinum tablet, and then the keyboard is packaged in its own box, both combined within a very nice box. So, the point is that this would present itself as a very nice gift. Also, I love the built in kickstand that is on the back side of the tablet itself. The keyboard securely connects magnetically to the tablet to convert to a laptop for data entry and pad control. but this is also a touch screen, too. The package contents include the tablet, the keyboard, and a cord with USB C charging tips at both ends, not even an electrical plug-in adapter, although most of probably already have one. However, how much more would it have cost Microsoft to include a fully functioning charging unit? There is an insert for basic setup but if more is needed logging unto their website would be needed, days of the user manual included within the package is so far in the past. Overall, setup is very intuitive, and I was able to easily link, through my Microsoft account login, this device to others so that my desktop, files, programs, etc. were automatically downloaded and connected. The battery life is great, the screen's visual clarity is verry good, the ability to add devices such as printers, earphones, speakers by blue tooth was seamless, and the overall ease of use and most importantly the ability to carry this device around at any time or anywhere is fabulous.

I have owned several Microsoft surface devices over the years and have always enjoyed the form factor. There are many windows and some Linux tablets available; or however, if you have the built-in metal hinge and stand attached to the tablet. Several other windows tablets are more like an iPad, have a magnetically attached back cover, which can fall off or slide off fairly easily. Stripped of the keyboard, the metal hinge built into the tablet makes the surface pro easy to carry without a case. The performance is excellent. The screen is very good and is LCD not OLED the sound is fairly good in my opinion about as good as a iPad Air, but not as good as a four speaker iPad Pro. It is adequate for media, including some music and the 12 inch screen size is superior to the 10.5 inch surface go or similarly sized iPads. I had been hesitant to own an arm based Windows PC related to the compatibility issues. In the last few years, many major programs have an arm native Windows 64 version. Nearly all of the commonly used Microsoft products have been joined by other common products, including Libre Office, and brave. I tested the arm native brave against the most updated arm based edge and found the brave faster – perhaps related to default ad blocking. There is A built-in on the fly emulator Which can supposedly run almost any Windows 64 program. You may run into issues if you have older non-updated 32 bit Windows programs. The keyboard and trackpad are excellent. The combination of the keyboard, surface pro and separately purchased surface Flat pen is just over 2 pounds. This competes well with a iPad Pro with a very expensive Apple keyboard, but is heavier more than a surface go with keyboard. The weight is comparable to my HP11 tablet, which is smaller. Note that the latest version of Windows 11 have the improved recall feature, Which, in my opinion remains a privacy risk. Also, Windows requires an online account, not only a local account. Regardless of Windows drawbacks it is nice to have a tablet that can run almost any program, including some older games without issues. When I travel if I do not bring a Windows device I find that I am unable to complete various tasks, including browser based tasks.

The Surface Pro 12” is a huge improvement from previous generations, but using windows without a keyboard can be frustrating. The design and the quality of the Surface Pro is really good, I especially love the built-in kickstand, it’s both solid and convenient. The keyboard that comes bundled with the tablet feels great to type on. The soft TPU feel makes it very comfortable to rest your palms, and the keys feel good to press. The keys are backlit, and the touch pad is just the right size to where you don’t accidentally bump it while typing, yet it’s big and wide enough to be very functional. The back of the keyboard has a nice suede texture and looks premium. The Surface pro 12 has a 12” touchscreen LCD display, it has a 90hz refresh rate. While the display looks nice, I really wish Microsoft would have made a 120hz display for this device. For the most part, it looks good, it’s when you start scrolling through pages that it starts to show the lag of a lower refresh rate. The screen gets bright enough to see outside during the daylight, but some software features like the adaptive color feature, make the colors look washed out or dull. Luckily, this is an option that can be easily turned off under the settings. The Surface Pro 12 is powered with a Snapdragon X Plus processor and has 16gb of ram, which makes the laptop/tablet an impressive device. It can handle Microsoft’s AI copilot features incredibly fast. I asked Copilot to write me a cover letter just giving it very minimal details, and within a matter of seconds, it wrote me a very professional cover letter. This was both impressive and scary. The Surface also handles multi tasks efficiently, such as writing this review in Microsoft Word while simultaneously playing a movie on Netflix in split screen. Everything worked perfectly and didn’t stutter, and the speakers sound amazing on this tablet. The Surface Pro 12” is a great device, but to be efficient, it still needs to be used with the keyboard. Using it in tablet mode works, but Windows 11 is not an ideal OS for using just a touchscreen. I really don’t like that Microsoft didn’t include the charging brick, and I wish the screen would have been 120hz but overall, I am impressed with this device. This is a perfect device to use for everyday tasks like browsing, streaming, and even productivity. If that’s what you’re looking for, then I would definitely recommend this.

Unboxing the surface pro was a simple process, no issues. I had a bit of hesitation, wondering if this would be a different experience from android. It was a needless worry, so far the only differences are the play store and ctr-alt-del to fully shut it down. Going thru the setup up process of language and other permissions was quick and easy, as whatever I didn't want to do at the time I was able to skip. The controls, on/off and volume are located on the top left corner of the computer and are responsive to any easy touch. The keyboard is very quiet when I'm typing and unexpectedly, it's actually backlit. It connects to the Surface Pro via magnets. And because it's sealed, there'll be no cookie crumbs falling through the cracks. There are two cameras, a front and rear facing, that are both very good. For the front facing, a little light shines that let's you know it's on. On the back side of the unit is a spot to hold your slim pen. Please note here, it is not included. I found this to be very disappointing! Finally and most exciting for me is the AI Copilot. It amazes me how far the computer has come. Interacting with it is like talking to a friend. You are able to choose the voice of male/female and an accent or not. No question is to dumb or far fetched. I have two laptops and an all in one desktop, they are now all being benched for this 2 in 1 computer.
