I really wanted to like this computer... It's feature-rich and fun. But it's not got the most basic thing a laptop needs: reliability.
Sometimes the charger works. Sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes the pro keyboard charges. Sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it just wakes up when you hit the power button like a regular tablet. Sometimes you'll just be staring at the windows logo for 30+ seconds waiting for it to boot up again like you fully turned it off or something instead of just shutting the lid. Generally, startup times are rough, the longest I've seen in many years.
Even in the 3 minutes of typing this, the screen flashed black and now is a warm light tint instead of white. It has very long startup times.
Software misbehaves with ARM. I never got VLC for Arm to work, and VLC for Intel run with compatibility emulation doesn't work quite right. Super basic stuff here.
Haven't gotten my external drive I've been using for years to consistently connect to the USB-c port with a hub (and there's no USB-A port).
Haven't gotten Windows network drives to behave consistently.
And copilot is a marketing gimmick. Very untrustworthy and generally annoying. One of my first interactions with it was just asking "what day of the week is the 20th?", to which it responded with a random day which was not correct for this month, the next month, or the previous month. Instead of being concise and correct, it's fluffed with dialogue-like words asking you how you're doing and things (weird) and gives inaccurate data. MS Paint AI is a gimmick too. Fun for 30 seconds and then when you actually need something from it, it's just not good enough.
If it just worked right, it'd be 5 starts, maybe 4 since AI is still just a gimmick at this point.

Truly shocked there is no Lunar Lake or Ryzen option. Snubbing the community of users that relies on peripherals that are compatible with the x86 architecture is a huge risk for Microsoft. After getting one of these, I had to quickly return it because I couldnt scan anything, only my HP standalone printer worked with it. My epson peripherals -- printer or scanners-- did not work with it. I picked-up an HP all in one printer/scanner, which only randomly worked with it, on either the scanner side or the printer side. I then picked up an HP Omnibook Ultra Flex 2 in 1, 14", with a Lunar Lake processor, 32 gigs of Ram and a 2TB internal drive, on sale ($400 off), which included a pen, and couldnt be happier. I am not sure I'll go back to the Surface Pro, where everything is ala carte (e.g., keyboard/pen), the cost is premium, and it's honestly not worth the hassle. The truth is, the surface pro was never a great tablet, but it was a terrific portable laptop, but the new models by the competition are also terrific portable laptops, and they dont up-end your technology ecosystem with niche processor choices.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good product overall. I definitely wish that it was a little bit faster for the price, and the keyboard attachment doesn’t always connect as it should, but otherwise it’s good. To be honest, unless you need a Windows device for work or school, I’d recommend a Macbook instead.

The unit itself is great to use but the Microsoft keyboard will work only about 25% of the time. The other 75% of the time I have to detach and re-attach to make keyboard work. Wish I knew about that before buying. Would recommend if you are OK with not using the keyboard.

Excellent laptop! Checks all the boxes, I use this primarily as a work laptop but also at home. Excellent battery vs performance. As long as you aren’t going to use this for extreme gaming it doesn’t get better than this.

Minimal and easy to use. I owned the first model that came out and haven’t had one for almost 10 years. The surface is great for personal and business use.

This is the 6th Microsoft Surface Tablet/Laptop PC our family has purchased. Love their excellent design with keyboard screen protector, dual functionality, etc.

I am a fan of the Surface Pro, no complaints there.
Copilot is awsome! Works well with Yamaha Keyboard also.
I would have given 5 stars except for the fact that the keyboard and pen were not included in price.
Microsoft has a history of overpricing there products and services.

It's heavy! The detachable keyboard doesn't weigh much but the unit itself is much heavier than my original Surface Pro. This is my travel computer as my desktop is linked to it through OneDrive. It is beautiful and easy to use though.

Not suitable for travel entertainment. Due to Microsoft conflicts with other parties, no video downloads are possible to watch during long flights. The $200+ Flex Keyboard only works with the Surface and nothing else. I tried to install Android, and the Surface could not even recognize the bootable USB Drive.
