Previous versions of the surface pro keyboard would attach perfectly every time. You could basically attach it in the dark. This one attaches fine, but requires a little more precision. I wish it fit the surface pen 2 a little better. It's made for the slim pen, though.

Automatically connects; prior models required hard resets and contact cleaning. The contacts are covered instead of exposed. Good improvement
