This Microsoft Surface Pro Keyboard with Slim Pen is a worthy companion for the Surface Pro tablet. The Dune color is modern and stylish. Attaching this keyboard to the tablet is an effortless procedure; the magnetic edge just snaps right on securely. The keyboard is ultra thin, keeping the profile of the Surface Pro when connected to this keyboard, nice and slim. However, while well made, the keyboard does seem rather "inexpensive" which it certainly is not, price-wise. I'm not quite sure about the surface texture of this keyboard. While the keyboard itself is comfortable to type on, and is instantly responsive, the way the Alcantara surface material feels, simply isn't to my liking. It's a preference thing. Typing on the keyboard does feel good; each key press is fluid and smooth. There is even a dedicated Copilot+ key making it super convenient to access those cool AI features of the Surface Pro tablet. The Slim Pen took a bit of getting used to, though not long, it was just different than any of the other tablet pen/pencils I've used previously. Drawing with the pen was easy enough (even with me being left-handed) once I got acclimated to how it felt in my hand, and how it glided across the surface of the Surface Pro tablet's screen. There is a recessed slot to keep the pen so it's right there handy, and charged. Bottom line - This keyboard does what it needs to, both with optimal responsiveness, while also protecting the screen of the tablet. It is slim in design, highly portable, and a perfect compliment to the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet.

I’d consider the Surface Keyboard at the very least to be an essential accessory for the Surface Pro. I’d say that for the pen as well, but to a lesser degree. Together these things help complete the Surface experience and both are very well made and integrate very well with the Surface. The keyboard feels natural to type on and propped up on a desk with the Surface it’s very stable. It’s a little bit less so on the lap, but still doable. It attaches magnetically to the bottom of the Surface and it does not come out without a considerable amount of force, which is good. The keys have what I feel is just the right amount of travel and feel well spaced. The trackpad works well and supports all of the standard Windows gestures, though the ‘click’ feels louder than it needs to be for me and I do wish it was a little bigger. The fabric that covers it all looks nice and so far has held up well against fingerprints and stains. The pen rests in a storage area at the top that can be hidden away when angled up into the Surface. It also charges there as well. It’s held in magnetically and is very secure, so much so that I actually had some difficulty even getting it out until I realized I could press downward on the tip to pop the other end out. The pen is comfortable to hold and lends itself well to writing and sketching. And there’s lots of features built into Windows to help utilize it. If you’re buying a Surface, it’s pretty much a given that you should also buy this. I do think it’s a little expensive for what it is, but overall it’s a worthwhile purchase.

The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen (2nd Gen) and Pro Keyboard is the mid range option being sold along with the new Surface Pro 11 Copilot+ PC. If you're familiar with previous Surface Pro keyboards, this one won't be unfamiliar to you. The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen (2nd Gen) and Pro Keyboard connects magnetically to the underbody of the Surface Pro. It has a strong magnet and "snaps" into place when in close proximity. It's fairly error proof and once connect, begins working right away. If you have you Surface Pro set to tablet mode when a keyboard is not attached, connecting this keyboard disabled that feature. There is no battery or bluetooth connection on this specific model. If you need that feature, look for the Surface Flex keyboard. They look identical, so mistaking the two seems to be fairly common. Overall typing experience is good. The keys have a rubbery feel which I found nice. The key travel is short and snappy without much movement from side to side, or "bending" feeling. I found it just large enough to not be cramped, and I was able to naturally type almost immediately. They keys also have a backlighting, which brightness can be adjusts. It's picks up on lighting in the room and enables or disabled based on those condition. I found it to do an accurate job of this. You can also manually enable backlighting not automatically detected when needed. There is a Copilot key that triggers Copilot along with other Windows specific shortcuts along the function key row. This makes quickly utilizing built in Windows functions quicker and simpler. The keyboard is wrapped in Alcantara which I found soft and pleasant. It's capable of picking up dirt. I keep a can of Alcanara cleaner at my desk and use it to clean these types of keyboard with frequency. Doing so has kept long term usage signs of ware at bay and my keyboards looking like new. I recommend everyone to do the same, otherwise you will notice dirt and grim building up along with discoloration. The touch pad is pretty awful and probably the worst part about this model. It's not reliable when tapping to click, and mouse movement is simply "ok". It's a "diveboard" style click, and you must position fingers in the right spot to properly depress and register a click. It's also extremely small and does not leave much room for finger travel. There is a nice area at the top to store the Surface Pen 2nd Edition. It clicks right in and there is no fear of it falling out. The pen is slim enough to allow it to remain in the holder with the keyboard elevated and connected to the Surface Pro display. The keyboard needs to be unconnected from that elevated position and lay flat to remove it. I found in elevated position when the keyboard first connected to cover the screen a little bit. Over time, as it broke in, it's now at proper height. Don't be alarmed by this initially, it will settle quickly and fit appropriate. The Surface Pen 2nd Edition is a must have companion along with this keyboard. It connects right away to the Surface without any manual pairing. Writing on the screen feels natural and I didn't notice any lag. Using the back end of the pen acts as an eraser in most apps. Clicking the eraser or the side button can be programmed to open specific apps of your choosing. The button on the side also acts as a mouse click if using the pen as a mouse. They keyboard charges the pen when not in use, so it's always ready to go when you are. The flat design keeps the pen from rolling on the desk, and allows it to securely remain in the keyboard cubby when not in use. Overall, while this is not the best Surface Pro Keyboard Microsoft makes for the Surface Pro, it is a solid choice, costs less than the best, and should be considered when making a Surface Pro purchase. Some extremely minor touch pad design flaws could be fixed to improve the experience, but I would still recommend it to more cost conscious Surface Pro users.

The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen and Pro Keyboard bundle really adds to the usability of the Surface Pro 11th Edition. The keyboard snaps right into the two slots on the edge of the tablet. One slot is the communications and power port. The second appears to be just a slot for stability. The connection is instantaneous, no setup for the pen or the keyboard is needed. Be aware that this keyboard must be physically connected to the tablet. The keyboard makes the Surface Pro much more like a laptop. But just fold the keyboard behind the tablet and you’ve got a tablet again. Don’t worry about pressing the keyboard keys. It doesn’t seem to recognize them when it’s folded back. Ever since I got the Surface Pro, I’ve had trouble getting it to recognize a touch/tap. However, the pen is always recognized. When I use it, I just tap once and it works. Using my finger on the tablet is sometimes very frustrating, requiring repeated attempts to get it to recognize a touch. Typing on the keyboard is WAY faster and more accurate than trying to use the virtual keyboard on the tablet. Even though the keyboard is really low profile, the keys have enough action to make typing feel right. This keyboard does not have removable batteries or a separate charge port. It works while connected to the tablet and simply does not work when it is not connected. The pen is charged when it is in the handy storage area built into the keyboard. The magnets hold everything securely in place. One weirdly entertaining feature is that if you drop the pen in the storage area upside down, the magnets flip it over to the correct charging position automatically. Besides the greatly improved touch recognition from using the pen, it has a really cool erase feature. Just turn the pen over and use the other end as an eraser. Just like an old fashion pencil. I use the whiteboard on virtual sessions all the time and the pen is a must for that. Another feature that I use more than I thought I would, is the dedicated CoPilot key. Just press the CoPilot key on the keyboard and a CoPilot window pops up ready for you to enter or speak an AI prompt or search criteria. So far, the only real irritation is that after the last Windows update and often after I reboot the Surface Pro, I need to physically disconnect then reconnect the keyboard to get it to be recognized. It only takes seconds, but it’s an annoyance. In summary, this pen and keyboard bundle makes the Surface Pro (11th Edition) much more usable. I now feel comfortable taking the Surface Pro (and the keyboard bundle) with me on my next business trip replacing both my tablet and my laptop.

The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen and Pro Keyboard is an excellent companion for the new Microsoft Surface Pro 11 tablet. With this peripheral, your tablet becomes a convertible 2-in-1 tablet/laptop. Included in the box is the keyboard itself and the Surface Slim Pen. The build quality seems very good and the Alcantara material on the keyboard feels nice. There is a magnetic notch at the top of the keyboard that holds and charges the Surface Slim Pen. The Slim Pen has a blinking white LED to indicate it is charging and it seems to charge very quickly. The magnet holding the pen is very strong and it’s kind of hard to remove the pen when the keyboard is attached to the tablet. Once the pen is removed from the notch, it automatically connects to the tablet through Bluetooth. The keyboard magnetically snaps into place on the tablet and is automatically recognized by the tablet. For a compact portable keyboard, the typing experience is much better than I expected. The keys have a nice click, travel distance, and feel to them. In addition, the keyboard is backlit and there is a key (F5) that allows you to adjust the backlight level. The is also a special new Copilot key that brings up Copilot which might be appreciated by people who favor using the keyboard for quickly launching applications. For me, I’m not sure how much of an approvement this is over just using your mouse to click on the Copilot app on the taskbar. The trackpad is also very responsive and recognizes my finger gestures and button presses well. My overall experience with the keyboard and trackpad is very good. The Slim Pen feels nice and light in the hand. There are two buttons on the pen. One button is on the top end that bring up OneNote and the other is on the side that seems to behave like the right mouse button. You can also personalize the actions for the buttons. I like that you can use the top end of the pen as an erasure as it mimics a real-life pencil. It performs very well for note taking and drawing. Overall, I can highly recommend this keyboard for Microsoft Surface Pro 11 owners that want to convert their great tablet into a great 2-in-1 tablet/laptop.

The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen and Pro Keyboard are a perfect companion to my Microsoft Surface Pro - 11th Edition. The Slim Pen really adds to the tablet experience expanding the capabilities and providing a true writing experience. It also provides a superb drawing experience. With 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and haptic feedback, the new Slim Pen really stands out in regard to performance. Use it to mark-up documents, draw a beautiful picture or simply jot some quick notes down. The Slim Pen is a MUST HAVE with the new Surface Pro. I'm really enjoying it. I also like the design of it being flat. It is an adjustment but it keeps the pen in place and prevents it from rolling off surfaces. Microsoft did a great job on this keyboard. The mechanical backlit keys provide such a nice typing experience. The keyboard is really comfortable to use whether it's sitting on a desk or in my lap. I love that it has a dedicated CoPilot key as well as the Surface Pro 11 is really geared toward the new CoPilot AI integration. I also love that the keyboard has shortcut keys for screen brightness and keyboard brightness as well. The trackpad is simply amazing. They made it just perfectly large enough for comfort and it is very responsive and nice to use. It attaches to the surface magnetically and feels very secure. I did have one instance where I opened the surface and the keyboard was not functional at all. I had to remove and reattach it to restore functionality. This has only occurred one single time thus far and I use it daily so this will not impact my rating. Overall I am really pleased with the keyboard and pen and I feel like it's a must have accessory for anyone who owns the Microsoft Surface Pro. It's very well made and the design is perfect. It opens up more in terms of usability and functionality and definitely increases my productivity on the Surface.

The Microsoft Surface Pro Keyboard is comfortable to type on and magnetically stores and charges the Slim Pen when not in use. It is thin and can feel a little flimsy when typing on it (especially if you're using it on your lap). I find myself worried that I may apply too much pressure and cause the top to "unfold" down (where the pen is stored) or maybe bend the keyboard. So, if you're typing a long document or doing a lot of coding, you may want to fold the keyboard completely out so it is flush against your desk's surface. Despite that, the keys seem to be spaced normally and it did not feel like a huge adjustment moving from a full-sized keyboard to this. The trackpad is also accurate and easy to use, properly registering my gentle taps as "clicks". Both the laptop and keyboard fold together nicely to protect the screen and they make the unit very portable to carry or slip into a backpack. The addition of the Copilot key is nice, but I don't find pressing it often even though I'm a frequent Copilot user (I'm simply used to clicking the Copilot icon on the task bar). I really like the dedicated mute key located on F1 as it makes it simple to find during a meeting (so I'm not scrambling to find the icon on screen). The keyboard also has an adjustable backlight for late night typing. The keys can feel a little "mushy" to type on as this is not a mechanical keyboard with clicky keys. The Slim Pen flat and may initially feel a little odd to feel, but I adjusted to it fairly quickly. I really appreciate the tactile feedback (which can be adjusted in the pen settings) so it makes writing on glass feel a little more natural without needing a paper-like screen protector. The top of the pen can be used as an eraser in supported programs, and its click can be configured to open OneNote or another application. Overall, this keyboard provides decent protection to the display while providing a full-sized keyboard, trackpad and storage (with charging) for the pen.

[PROS] Pen Accuracy: I find using the Surface Pen quite pleasant and necessary to get the most out of my Surface Pro Copilot device. I'm able to write, draw, and markup with surprisingly, great precision. Latency is extremely minimal which resulted in greater fluidity for me. Very Responsive: Whether it's typing on the keyboard, controlling the cursor through the trackpad, or executing pen-related commands, all parts work effectively. I've yet to notice any glitches occurring which is a thumbs up in my book. No Charging Needed: The keyboard must remain connected for use, but all is not lost. The worry of wondering if your keyboard has enough "juice" is no longer a concern. Furthermore, this helps to allow to a slightly slimmer design. Efficient: When it came using the keyboard, I noticed that it didn't cause massive battery drain on my Surface Pro Copilot. Given that it relies totally on the tablet for power, I was highly impressed that battery levels remained steady. On average, I would probably lose a couple of battery points each hour. However, it didn't diminish my ability to perform any task. [CONS] - Lacks Wireless Connectivity: Unfortunately, this keyboard doesn't have the wireless capability like "Big Brother" does. I did wish for the feature to be part of the baseline design, but I understand that it targets a different consumer. - No Power Button or Fingerprint Reader: These aren't required features for the keyboard, but are things on my wishlist. This accessory has the ability to turn the Surface Pro into a laptop. If I use my device like a laptop then I would want functionality similar to one. Being unable to turn on my Surface Pro from the keyboard or unlock my device it is a bummer, but not the end of the world. [Mixed Bag] - Okay Comfort Level: For people with smaller hands, comfort level would probably be A1. I lean towards having larger hands so sometimes I have to adjust my hand/wrist position for comfort. I wouldn't use this device for an 8 hr. work day, but I find perfectly fine to use it for a couple hours at a time. [CONCLUSION] I'm not a fan of spending more money than I have to regarding a big tech purchase. For this product, I've made an exception. The Surface Slim Pen and Keyboard Pro is the way to go. It's very competent in its intended functionality and should be complimentary for any scenario, especially when being on the go.

The deck feels roughly the same as it has for years. It feels solid and light. Overall typing is good with decent key travel. Activation requires a bit heavier touch than some keyboards, but activation is reliable. A slight detraction from the overall typing experience is a slightly loose rattle when tapped and a squeaking sound when keys are pressed. It sounds very similar to the sound on low profile chiclet keyboards suggesting it is a tradeoff for having these types of shallow keys. If you have had previous Surface Type covers the sound and feeling will be familiar. If you prefer a solid and stable typing experience, you will likely prefer laying the keyboard flat on a surface. When propped up the typing experienced has a slightly hollow feel due to the thinness of the cover. The touchpad is on the smaller side but it glides smoothly with excellent tracking and palm rejection. The addition of a Slim Pen dock is nice. You don’t even have to worry about how you place the pen into the dock. When your drop it in the magnets flip it to orient correctly so it charges without fuss. They work well enough that if you get close enough it is like it magically pulls the pen into the dock and flips it around all on its own. When the keyboard is propped up the pen is hidden out of sight in the dock. A small but nice touch is when you attach the cover to the Surface it automatically pairs the pen making the process seamless. The pen has a nice medium weight and size to it. It feels a little strange at first being round, but it is easy to get used to and the oblong shape makes it easy to hold and orient to keep the button where you want it. The writing experience is good but not quite pen like. The feeling is smooth with a small amount of friction. It is funny that Microsoft calls it a pen when it has an eraser. The back of the pen serves as both a button and an eraser. By default, it brings up OneNote when clicked. If you flip it around it erase just like a pencil. In fact, it even has a slightly rubbery texture just like a pencil. Beyond the minor squeaks and rattles the combination of the Slim Pen and Keyboard cover feels nice. It is a perfect compliment to the Surface Pro.

I’ve been a tablet user since the 1st iPad was released. I loved it when Apple announced the Apple Pencil and I’ve been using it consistently ever since. I also value a matching keyboard for the tablet and when I got the Surface Pro Snapdragon X Plus, I really wanted the keyboard and pencil to be included as a bundle. This was unfortunately not the case. Aside from that roadblock, I have to say that the design of the keyboard and slim pen are quite nice. I like how they seem to fit as an ecosystem. The pen is, of course, designed to lay flat for storage and portability. The only downside to that is it’s a little different to be using something flat to write with. I’m used to round pens and pencils and picking up the Slim Pen felt foreign to me. I did get used to it after a little while, but it was a learning curve I had to overcome. The pen has good sensitivity and responsiveness with the screen of the Surface. I doodled a bit in paint and used it to markup a PDF and it worked well for those purposes. The keyboard attaches to the tablet magnetically and gets its power from that connector. The inside of the keyboard matches the outside — both sides have a soft microfiber cloth as a liner. The keys are nice to type on and while I don’t feel they are a replacement for a standard keyboard, they get the job done for the tablet. The keyboard is only one piece. It folds over to cover the screen of the tablet, but the back of the Surface Pro is still exposed. The kickstand of the device is part of the tablet’s back and not the keyboard. This was a surprise to me as I’m used to the keyboard accessory being a protective cover for the tablet, as well. It’s not a bad design — it was just surprising. In my opinion, these accessories are a must-have if you are getting the Surface Pro. They turn a good tablet into a great computer alternative.

As the title says, this is a great accessory for people like me who like to use a tablet for leisure but need a keyboard for productivity. The keyboard is very thin which is great as it does not add much bulk to the Surface Pro tablet. The keyboard is very easy to install as it simply attaches via magnet to the tablet and once attached, there is no lag in recognizing the attachment. The keyboard was well thought out and designed as I find my favorite feature is the storage area for the included Surface Slim Pen. The pen sits in a space at the top of the keyboard, just under the attached tablet which protects it from falling out and getting lost. The pen itself is pretty great. I have been using it to take hand written notes for classes. Not only has it been accurate in my writing but it allows me to save money and no longer need notebooks. I also like to doodle a bit and while I am far from an artist, I find myself trying to create more knowing I can simply revert back to the last pen stroke and try again. Back to the keyboard. It acts as a screen protector when folded closed so no worries about scratching the screen. The back of the tablet is still exposed so I would say that would still be susceptible to scratching but for me, that is normal wear and tear for any portable device I have ever had. I do find myself mistyping a little more often by hitting a wrong key from time to time but this is new and just like any keyboard, I am confident I will quickly adapt to the layout. Besides the mistyping, this is a must have addition for anyone who owns a surface pro and wants the feel of a laptop while maintaining the ability to have a tablet. This keyboard has made my surface pro my daily driver now and I couldn’t be happier.

This keyboard is a good match for the Surface Pro. It provides all the features and functionality you get in a typical laptop keyboard including back lit keys! The touch pad size is typical for a laptop this size and is responsive to the touch. The downsides are that the keyboard has to be attached to the Surface to work and the combination of Surface Pro’s kickstand and this keyboard make it a tad less stable when used on a lap. On a solid surface its great and highly recommended. The keyboard attaches to the surface via two mounting fingers on the base along with a strong magnetic attraction. The magnetic connection between the two is quite strong so there is no concern with accidental disconnects. When closed the keyboard magnetically attaches to the Surface Pro so it looks and feels like a very thin laptop. The electrical connection is via connectors on one of the fingers in the base and the keyboard must be attached to the Surface Pro for it to work. The keyboard is stiff enough to type on and the keys provide good feedback when pressed so you can type with confidence. There are three levels of brightness for the key caps which is very helpful in low light conditions. There is some flex in the material between the base and the Surface so it can wobble when not placed on a solid surface. I also noticed some flex when using the touchpad buttons when the keyboard was not on a solid surface. The base has a storage area that charges the Slim Pen when not in use. For me this is a great advantage because in the past whenever I needed my pen it was always low on battery life. Also the storage area becomes hidden when the keyboard is raised into the typing position. I am still getting used to the flat pen but one advantage is that it has a magnet so you can set it down on the palm rest and it sticks. The Slim Pen 2 has two buttons that allow you to perform various task in some applications. There is also an led that lets you know when the pen is low on battery.

Overall a mild upgrade for Surface keyboard and pen, but quite necessary to get the full use of the Surface Pro tablet as a laptop replacement. Physical keyboards are just better than touchscreen keyboards. Just be sure that you want to save a few dollars and do not need/want the top level Flex keyboard for your Surface Pro. Not a lot to say about this latest Surface Pro keyboard if you have owned one in the last 4 - 5 years. The backlit keys on the keyboard still have the same good travel. TouchPad is the same size and still decently efficient for all touches. The menu key (2 keys to the right of the spacebar) is now swapped out for the Copilot key, and maybe the key will get more use now since the old key didn't, for me anyways. Even the Alcantara material is the same, I like the materials and finish, others may disagree. The pen seems to be improved from last year with the button moved to the flat side of the pen instead of the ridge and haptic feedback seems to be much more pronounced or just works with more apps. I don't recall feeling haptics on my Surface 9 pen. Pen still has a click on the "eraser" end for quick access to pen apps that can be customized. So, the upgrade in performance for the pen is a positive. All that is left to consider aside from colors. Is buying one of these mid tier keyboards with upgraded pens. Or stepping up to the next level Flex keyboards that offer use away from the tablet via Bluetooth. These 2nd Edition Pro Keyboards have to be connected at all times to work with the surface. This lets the pen charge in its own cradle/slot just above the keyboard. Which is hidden when the keyboard is in the incline position. These keyboards get their power from magnetically attaching to the Surface Pro.

I got this with my new MS Surface Pro. This was my 2nd Surface Pro and as usual, the Surface SlimPen and Pro Keyboard are fantastic! They seamlessly integrate with the Surface Pro basically making this a laptop. The keyboard is super thin and doesn’t add hardly any noticeable weight to the Surface Pro. The keyboard is super comfortable and responsive to the touch. The touch-pad is the perfect size as your palms rest nicely on the velvet-like feel of the sides of the touch-pad. I have had other tablets with attached keyboards, and I will say, none do it like the Surface Pro Keyboard. It is by far the most comfortable and feels like it is intended vs. feeling like an add on. Also included is a new Copilot key on the right side of space bar, this is awesome so you can instantly pop-up Copilot, very convenient When you pull out the pen, it pops up the set of icons, including the whiteboard. Then pen itself is also very responsive and even pops up menus before you even touch the screen, that is very helpful. Overall, yet again, another amazing addition to the Surface Pro. I highly recommend this product if you have a Surface Pro.

This slim pen and Pro Keyboard Combination offer the best value for for a newcomer to the Surface Tablet. I would not consider buying a Surface Pro Tablet without a keyboard cover. It adds little weight to the tablet, and with its built in touchpad, gives the user full laptop functionality for the most efficient use of the Windows 11 operating system features. For the combination price, the surface slim pen is also included, which offers even more flexiblity to creators. This is NOT the new Flex keyboard, which functions via Bluetooth, even if unattached to the tablet. That keyboard is significantly more expensive, and does not come with any pen. This keys, of course, are lighted, which is a great feature for using your computer in marginal lighting. And it also contains a copilot key, which instantly summons an AI assistant, which you can address with your voice or by typing the keys. This keyboard requires no batteries and is powered off the Surface Tablet. It is a pleasure to use and type on. Good news for owners of the Signature keyboard cover that came with the Surface 8, 9 or X tablet: that keyboard will work perfectly with your new Copilot Surface Tablet without having to purchase a new keyboard. Those keyboards are virtually identical to this one, lacking only the Copilot key. I reccomend this combination for its good value and great utility.

This is definitely a must have to go with any Surface Pro purchase! It's s bit pricey, but it is great if you are looking to replace a laptop. Especially if you use the Surface as a worrying tablet while you hold it. I liked how you can put the keyboard facing in so the keys aren't on the hand that's holding the device. Also, it charges the pen while keeping it safeand secure in it's holder!

Picked this up for my daughter with the purchase of her new Surface Pro 11 and she loves it. The cradle charges the pen and of course it matches the device. The only ding is that the package seems overpriced at $279, and the price is locked down -- you can't even get the same thing cheaper on Amazon. A price between $150 and $199 would be more appropriate.
