I have purchased 3 of the keyboards and Microsoft finally figure out that certain updates tell the keyboard it is no longer a charging device! And no one sees to know how to fix this. Thank goodness an external charger is available!

But it is just one extra piece to have to remember to grab. I prefer the keyboard with magnetic charging slot (but it only works with the slim pen 2 which isn't my fave).

I thought it would plug in to my Surface the same way my Apple pencil plugs in to my iPad. This works fine, i just wish they designed it better so I didn't need to purchase this extra piece of hardware.

It is a magnetic tray that the pen lays in to charge. The charger connects to a computer via a USB plug. Nice to use,

I like that it has a usb-c connector to go with the rest of my usb-c accessories. The magnets always flips the pen so it goes in the right way. The base has a nonslip pad so it doesn't get easily tugged by the USB cable. Bought it on sale so it was worth it.
