    Great machine for photo editing

I do a lot of heavy photo editing, since I am a wedding photographer. I have been waiting years for a computer that allowed me to use a pen on the screen, and that also had high specs for those large raw files. I could never get used to the Wacom tablets because of the disconnect between the pad and the screen, and the Surface was the perfect solution. I spent a lot of time going back and forth on if I wanted to spend the money on this product, and I have to say I wish I did it sooner. No regrets at all. While the internal hard drive is a little slow for this machine, I don't notice any lags when editing. The pen is also very accurate. Most of my editing is done in Lightroom, with the screen in draft mode using the pen and wheel for a very fast workflow. To combat the slower hard drive, I have been using a portable, external SSD most of the time for the Lightroom catalogs. The screen colors are pretty accurate and everything looks very sharp and clear. It can be calibrated very easily, and find that I can get much better skin tones on here vs. my other computers. Compared to my Mac laptop (similar specs), this by far beats it with the screen and performance. Don't let Windows scare you off, it has come a long way! Along with Lightroom, I find the computer to work very fast with Photoshop and InDesign. I use quite a few layers in Photoshop at times (I also design websites, and some sites require 100s of layers), and this has not had an issue with performance. Lastly, the computer also works very well as a gaming PC. While I don't do a lot of heavy gaming, I do play a few that require high performing computers and they worked just fine on the Studio with maxed out in-game specs.

I was cautious at first when I questioned the price... would it be worth it or could I process my images on something cheaper. I decided to pull the trigger and get the Studio. First impressions... it's BIG. It's also very quick. The resolution is fantastic and the colors are startling. It also has a small footprint on a desk. Very easy to turn into a drawing table with the zero-gravity hinges... I'm pleased with this computer.

Great tool I bought this for my design team to use in the office and to mess around with fusion 360 on. It works great and I have no complaints other than the steep price tag for the specs. That said this is really then only option for a tool like this, so until there is competition I guess they can charge this much.

I've been a loyal Surface customer since day one, having owned the Original ARM Surface, Surface Pro, Surface 3, Surface Pro3, Surface Book, and now the Surface Studio. Price is something that folks are going to get hung up on. I've been in the industry since the 80s and remember paying $3K for my first color laptop. The Surface Studio just happens to be the best 28" monitor in terms of color and quality you can get and has the bonus of Pen, Touch, and Surface Dial input. Rest assured when you buy a Surface, MSFT is going to support you. My Surface Book had a battery swelling problem-- 6 months after the 1 year warranty ended. Even though I bought it through Best Buy-- an appointment and walk into the MSFT store had me walking out with a new Surface Book at no charge. That "Nordstrom" like experience is justification for a premium price tag. All this being said-- if you get the Surface Studio, be careful about scrimping on the specs to save money. The device you buy today isn't going to get upgraded (Memory, CPU, Storage) for the life of your device-- so a couple hundred more today is going to extend the useful life of the device significantly. I did run into one software issue with the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard (they'd appear to hang until I touched the screen). This is a Windows power saving feature issue. Go into device manager and turn off the power saving features for the Bluetooth Adapter as well as the Keyboard and Mouse device properties and the problem is solved. If you spend a lot of time with your PC, do yourself a favor and take a serious look at the Surface Studio.

Very good machine for a creative artist

I loved this machine and tried for almost 10 days. Drawing is much simpler and the look and feel is awesome. The only part bad about it is its cost and if I were in artist profession, I would have got this. My work is mostly image processing and stuff for research so I just got an IMAC and saved almost 1500 in a deal. May be in future I would buy it.

Expensive but worth every penny. I mainly needed a computer for school work and of course touch screen. This computer has more than enough to keep up with all my programs I run as well as the large screen. I LOVE this

I bought the highest end i7. A little pricey for the specs but you can not find a pen enabled computer with a quad i7 and 32 gig ram. Also, the Microsoft store in Easton put me off for 3 months waiting on this computer. The rep said it would be another month. Best Buy got me this in 3 days! Way to pull though Best Buy and shame on you Microsoft!
