    Best Next Gen System

    Posted
    BigG

The Xbox 360 is hands down the best next generation system. It is much more powerful than the Nintendo Wii (which is about as powerful as the original Xbox), and it has a much better selection of games than the Playstation 3. The 360 blows the Wii out of the water because it's gameplay is not based on a gimicky controller. While the Wii may be incredibly fun to play in large groups/at parties, it simply doesn't hold up when you want to play through a game by yourself. Playing Wii tennis by yourself is no where near as entertaining or engaging as playing the campaign mode of Halo 3. Only the new Zelda game provides a single player experience that remotely rivals that of any game on the 360. The Playstation 3 is a powerful machine capable of playing games that rival the 360s in depth and size. The 360 wins in two key areas though. The games that are made exclusively for the 360 are much better than those made exclusively for the Playstation 3. For example, Halo 3 is undeniably the greatest video game currently on any console, and it is, and will remain an Xbox exclusive. Playstation's "exclusive" franchises however, have found their way onto the xbox in recent history. For example, Grand Theft Auto, and Metal Gear Solid (both previously Playstation only games) are now releasing their titles on the Xbox as well as the Playstation. The other area in which the Xbox 360 beats it's competition is in Online play. The Xbox live system with its friends lists, gamertags, and gamerscore, is streamlined, convenient, and easy to use. The Playstation online features and the nintendo friend codes make online play needlessly cumbersome. The only drawback to the Xbox 360 is a malfunction known as "the red ring of death". It happens randomly to Xbox 360 systems, but is characterized by a red ring around the power button and the system no longer working. However microsoft has extended it's warranty on the Xbox 360 so that whenever the red ring of death occurs, regardless of when the original warranty would have expired, microsoft will repair your system or replace it. All in all, the Xbox 360 is the system of choice for anyone serious about getting a quality gaming experience.

    Could be better

I hope people can take this review to heart, because I spent a long time researching whether to buy an XBOX 360 or a Playstation 3. I have long been a Sony fan and have refused to accept that any console could better than what Sony has produced. When it came to finally getting around to buying my next gen console, the high pricetag on the PS3, made me reconsider. For the first time I considered a different brand when choosing what to buy. I finally decided to abandon Sony and go with an XBOX 360 about 5 weeks ago. The graphics and games are amazing and I am more than satisfied when it comes to that. I waited to get the XBOX 360 because I wanted HDMI support and I saw that it was going to have an additional heat sink in the newest version which is supposed to help cool the system. 2 weeks after I purchased the system, I started getting E74 errors with one red light blinking in the ring. Fortunately if I had enough patience to turn the system on and off a few times, I could eventually get it to work. Now the error occurs about 50% of the time. It is a major annoyance, but I can tolerate it as long as the system still functions in some capacity. I expect this will only last for so long before I get the ring of red and have to send it in. I read other reviews saying that the only people that get the errors are people that don't know how to take care of their system. Believe me, if I'm paying $350 I will protect that investment as much as possible. My apartment is well air conditioned and the XBOX is on a solid surface and completely exposed to the open room. I have not played for longer than about 3 hours at a time, yet I still am getting errors on a brand new system. MY ADVICE: This is a system that any gamer should love playing. The games are better than what I have seen on either of the other next gen consoles and it is a decent amount cheaper than the PS3. Get this system if you are considering what console to buy and just hope that you have better luck than the majority of people out there.

    Best System EVER!

Where the Xbox was amazing but rough around the edges, the Xbox 360 fixes a lot of shortcomings of the original unit. Out with the old, in with the new. Where the original was based on off the shelf middle of the road PC technology with cool graphics, the new one is based on unrelesed 3 core PowerPC technology (Interesting IBM is now manufactoring processors for all game consoles) with cutting edge graphics. Gone are the wired controllers, although they'll still be available as an option. The front is now customizable, which is pretty cool when you think about it. It's the only console that will ship with a hard drive. C'mon any Xbox owner knows that hard drive is a killer feature. Not only for games, but for also ripping your own music to play in games. That Sony isn't going to include one with their basic package is HUGE mistake-- but ya gotta cut costs somewhere I guess. Anyway, Microsoft has improved Live network support. Everyone recieves it free, and you only pay if you want to play with others. Think about it, this will be the largest FREE voice over IP network. That's pretty amazing. You're also going to be able to sell content over the network, which could be huge. And you can watch others play. Don't even get me started on third party support. Microsoft is pulling out all stops. They've signed up so many partners that have never developed for the Xbox before, it's simply going to exciting to see what comes out of all of it. And Microsoft is going to be first to market, which should give them a better chance against Sony. Sony's offering looks technically superior, but when you really think about it, developers make games based on the lowest common denominator. Look at EA. How many games from EA are developed with Xbox in mind? Uh none. They'll also PS/2 based. I'm thinking all games will now be 360 based, even if they're on the PS3. The one misstep from Microsoft is backward compatibility. They're saying the most popular games will work, but that's going to be a problem.

    The best next gen system

The Xbox 360 has superior graphics and 3rd party support compared the Wii. It has more games and a far better online community than the PS3. Maybe someday the PS3 will have games, or maybe it will turn into the Neo-Geo - that system that everyone was amazed by but nobody had because it cost too much. . I love the wireless controllers that can turn the 360 on or off without leaving your couch. Now that is convenience. . The Xbox Live feature is a must have. You can add people you meet in games to your friend list and the list is quite detailed. You can see what games they are playing now and what they have played ever. This can easily lead into discussions like, "hey I see you are playing Gears of War - how is that?" You can also send invites to your friends so that they can join your game instead of trying to find you in a lobby. Friends you meet can help you if you are having trouble with a game and you can share tips and strategies or vs. each other. Xbox live let's you see a friends only leaderboard plus a global leaderboard because after all, that's what you really care about - how much you're crushing your friends! . The achievement system that rewards you for completing milestones in a game is highly addictive although not comprehensible to most who have never played a game on the 360. I like it because it gives proof that you did something so now we don't have to go by word of mouth. The achievement is either on your gamertag or it isn't. . Problems with the system: A lot of people complain that they get the "red ring of death". I have never gotten this but I think it has to do with playing too much and overheating the system or putting the 360 inside a cabinet where it has very little ventilation. My advice, get the best buy warranty so you can get it replaced with no questions asked.

    Great Next Gen System

I was one of the first people to buy an Xbox only a little after they were released. I have to say at this point in time this is the best system to get as far as games go. The Xbox 360 has the best games out right now and likely will continue to have great games, as support for this system continues to grow. Overall I have never had any problems with this system, and have had it for well over a year. Until recently I did have the hardware failure, the three lights. I found that Microsoft replaced my Xbox in three weeks, and customer support was very helpful. They also gave me a month of free Xbox Live for the trouble. Overall this is an amazing system and is really the middle system for those who are willing to spend a little more money than the Wii, but don't want to break the bank for the PS3. Knowing that you will get great customer support from this system is great as well, and is why I continue to still use the system and give it such a high rating. I've had a positive experience with this system and recommend it to anyone. The Xbox 360 however, does not appear to be the most family friendly system however. If you look under family games on Best Buy.com you will see they only have around 9 total games, and some of those are still 10 yrs old or higher, even with the everyone rating. When my niece and nephew play games they are more interested in the Wii. I am personally a very big fan of the FPS games, and any shooter in general, and the Xbox 360 has the most of these types of games. Also the Xbox 360 has at the time the best online service that you can get with Xbox Live. Even though it's 50 dollars or around 4 dollars a month for a year, you are paying for what you get compared to the other free services. This system is a great system and if you are looking for a great next gen HD experience this is a good choice.

    Excellent System!!!

I love this system it is just perfect, I had this system since launch in November 2005, I am still using the console from the night I got it never over heated on me, and I do play it a lot sometime up to 14hrs a time. The graphics the Xbox 360 can produce are amazing it is mind blowing really, games like Gears of War and Halo 3 are just out of this world, even if games are not 1080p they all look better than the Playstation 3's. The surround sound is also great hook it up with a optical digital cable and you will be blown away litterally sometimes by how realistic games sound like Halo 3 or Project Gotham Racing 4! The game line up for the Xbox 360 is also just really great it crushes the PS3's hands down and gives a lot more options than the Wii. There is something for everyone for example, children: Viva Pinata and arade games like Pacman. The hardcore gamers get things like: Gears of War and Halo 3, while casual players will also much enjoy games like Call of Duty, even Halo 3 or racing games like PGR4. The best feature I think is Xbox Live the system is so perfect it is insane for downloading HD movies and TV shows to demos and dashboard themes, you could also chat or play with any of the 10+ million players! It is a most own for anyone looking for the best game console on the market. Tips to avoid over heating keep well vented never in closed cabinets and buy the Nyko Intercooler which attaches to the back of the console and requires no power outlets or USB ports only $20 and you won't regret it.

I would recommend this product! It is great for family entertainment, and watching DVD's. All the games are HD (If you have a HD TV/Projector) and the color/picture is outstanding! They have a great range of games for all ages (Although read below for my opinion on most games). CONS: The only reasons I do not give this product a full five star rating is: 1) due to the fact that I had to deal with the dreaded "Red Light Syndrome". But Microsoft fixed that problem for me, and the people at Microsoft/Xbox had excellent service, and attitudes. 2) Which this is a big thing for me. I like to play games with others, I am not one to sit down and play a game by myself. Microsoft for some reason, and the affiliated companies which are producing games for the 360 have gone single minded..."XBOX Live"....Don't get me wrong, I love XBOX Live, but I do not like that fact that almost every 360 game is 1 player, or requires 2 XBOX's and XBOX Live. I know the strategy is to get people playing XBOX Live, but I like to play with my family, and friends...But the support to do that is limited to the very few games. Even racing games, I find it extremely disappointing that almost every racing game (Even Nascar 08) is 1 player. Who wants to race the console? The fun in those games is racing with your friends. But even with those "Cons" listed above (Which may not be cons for others), I would still highly recommend this unit. You will love it! Beats out the other competition "IMO".

    The natural next-gen

Well, the Xbox 360's first advantage is that it was first out of the gate in the current generation of video game consoles. But now that its competitors are on the scene, the 360's other qualities come into play. While comparing this system to Nintendo's Wii isn't terribly useful (if you want a Wii—and I do—buy one, but it's a completely different animal), Microsoft's newest system seems a more natural successor to the previous generation of consoles than the PS3 simply because a person might be able to afford one. In some regards, Sony's Playstation 3 has the 360 outclassed: built-in Blu-ray in all systems, larger hard drive on most models, and the impending ability to download Final Fantasy VII for $6. But XBox has a more proven online interface with Live, ready upgrade capability, and, again, it won't bankrupt you just to get started. I'm also pleased to see Microsoft address the concerns of Japanese gamers (and myself) by introducing more RPGs, like the stellar Blue Dragon. There still aren't many, which is disappointing, and unless things change you'll need a PS3 to play the upcoming Final Fantasy games. But I'm guessing many people won't care, because of Halo 3. :) My only other real concern is aesthetic: the 360 is big and heavy and not very attractive. There are faceplates, of course, but... man, the design...

The Xbox 360 is amazing, a great system. It has graphics that rival even the best gaming rigs, the undisputed best online gaming, and probably more good games than bad. However, if you buy the system to take advantage of all these wonderful aspects, you may have made a mistake. Even though the Xbox 360 can be declared as having all of these features, it seems hard to play on a system that is constantly malfunctioning. Microsoft has done something to combat the large failure rate, however, offering a free three-year warranty to anyone who experiences the "three red rings" on the console's power button. Waiting at least a month to get back a system you bought to play doesnt seem too appealing though; don't mention the console recieved is a refurbished one, without any garauntee of working. Do not get me wrong, I own an Xbox 360 and it is an entertaining piece of equipment. Hours and hours can be spent playing just one game online. I myself have had to exchange the system twice, meaning I have always come back for more. That is a good thing, but one should not HAVE to come back, everything should be there in the first place. Buying the Xbox 360 can definitely be worth the money; it is just a risk that you must be willing to take. (Don't forget to buy the warranty offer in the store!)

Every time I use the system I rarely walk away underwhelmed. The Xbox has what I believe to be everything needed for an swesome entertainment system. Want to hop on a game, voice chat with a friend playing a totally different one, and then decide to get together to have a action packed night against people around the world on "Halo 3" seamlessly? What to have access to *literally* thousands of TV show episodes, from CSI to the Chapelle Show, and to a constantly growing library of movies numbering in the hundreds (many in HD and 5.1 as well) at the press of 3 buttons? Want top notch exclusive games like Bioshock, Mass Effect, and many others, and many other multi platform games? How about playing movies and music from your computer wirelessly? This machine is all capable of it. And with the constant support through Microsoft constantly and consistently improving the machine with extra features and fixes from feedback that YOU provide, the machine is always getting better. Overall highly recommended to those looking to play the latest, hottest games, and to the entertainment aficionado looking to get their home theater system kicking like never before, you can't go wrong with Microsoft's latest sytem.

Pros - Xbox gives you HD capability out of the box with component cables standard (720P). A nice selection of games with a limited amount of Best Sellers ($19.99) to choose from. Does a great job controlling your media with Music playlist from your MP3 player and perfect pictures from your digital camera. The dashboard and online features are both unique and easy to navigate. Cons - Can't compare to the slightly more expensive Sony PS3. Does not offer 1080P. Controlers are not rechargeable as is out of the box. The backwards capability on many of the original Xbox titles don't work completely and often times will freeze or have numerous glitches. The biggest complaint I have had owning the 360 since it was released a couple holidays ago would be the fact that I am on my 3rd unit. They just don't last! I am a modest gamer at most and an avg. of 2hrs a week should give a longer life span than 6-12 months!!! I do stand behind Microsoft's effort and appreciate them extending their warranty to 2 years w/ a $50 price cut. Just buy the 360 and be patient when you have to put the thing in a shipping box once in a while;)

I picked up a 360 back in March of 2007 and have thus far had no problems with the hardware whatsoever. The system is definitely tailored for the gaming elite! Quality wireless controllers, reasonably priced battery packs and chargers. . Right now I'd still recommend those people buying a 360 to take the Best Buy Extended Warranty on the system as well. It doesn't cost much and it's nice to have the peace of mind knowing that if something does happen you'll be able to go in and get it taken care of straight away. . The online is definitely a large part of owning this system and if you don't anticipate using the live service for any reason then you probably should shy away from the system as a whole. Being able to compare scores and things against your friends adds a whole new level of enjoyment to my gaming sessions and gives me a little extra drive to play some of those old games that friends have just managed to get the high score on. The games for the 360 are excellent with Crackdown and Gears of War being my favorites thus far and a number of quality titles in the pipeline including Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon and many more.

    XBOX 360 ROCKS

    trackstar

The xbox 360 is the best next generation console. It has the best line-up of games and continues to produce many games that pave the way in next gen gaming for the more mature audience. From games like Gears of War, that demonstrates the 360's true graphic prowess to the much anticipated release of Halo 3, XBOX 360 has them all. This is also not to mention that in the near future, there will be the release of exclusives like Mass Effect and Bioshock, but there is also going to be Assassin's Creed and Blacksite Area 51. Despite what some may believe, the graphics on the 360 are superior to all other next generation consoles and the system attracts 3rd party games because it is easier to create games on a system with software that they are familiar with. Everything works really good, and while every 360 may require a little repair, it is definitly worth it. The warranty was extended, so there is nothing to worry about. This system is worth every penny and highly recomend.

I cannot say enough about my XBOX 360. I was a an avid Sony Playstation player but went the way of XBOX 360 for the value. Pound for Pound I would choose the XBOX due to the pricing. Second, when you hook this bad boy up to your HD TV you begin to see the way real gaming should have been since Intellivision. Man, this console brought football to reality and the surround sound (providing you have a Home Theatre) makes the action come alive whether you are playing tennis or using the hit stick on the new Madden 08. There are many options to the Xbox that make it functional and easy to use. I have the wireless internet adapter and HD player (also recommend) and have had no issues and I must say, HD is suuuhhhh-weeet!!! One draw back is no HDMI on the original version. This means no 1080P for your 1080P TV. However, I understand the new Elite and most new 360's now come with the HDMI hook-ups. Bummer for me, but good for you! Again, this is a quality unit for an amazing price. Two thumbs up!

The Xbox 360 is so much more than a gaming console. It is a nice addition for a home theater. The Xbox 360 is capable of connecting to an Windows XP or XP media center PC for videos and music. You can also connect your MP3 player for music and it will also recharge your player. You can play your own music during games. Nice feature for sports games where the only noise might be announcers or game sounds. Also, the 360 can play DVD's. It comes with component cables and optical audio output. Also, the newer Xbox 360 premiums have an HDMI output. This is just being released so you may need to check the box before opening. Of course the selection of games is great because the system has been out for a couple of years. Xbox Live is a must have for these systems. It always you to download demos of upcoming games to get you and idea if you wish to purchase. The only con I really have for the system is the DVD rom is noisy. Don't really notice it as long as a game or movie is playing.

    Xbox 360 Customer Review (Depth)

Microsoft has once again impressed me. Besides being the biggest operating systems corporation, they have dominated the gaming industry with the Xbox 360. The xbox 360 has a tremendous amount to offer for any age level gamer even the old arcade games some parents drooled over when they were younger. The Xbox 360 is best described as a computer as anyone in the family can create there own account and without the use of memory cards or worrying about someone saving over your saved game, the 360 remembers which user was at what point in any game. Besides playing games, the 360 allows any user to download music straight to the 360 and while playing any game you are able to listen to your music and if you have Live, you can have a private voice conversation with your friends. The 360 has many other great features as well. In my book this is one of the best consoles ever made since the release of the super nintendo.

    Great System for the Cost

For kids and adults who like to play video games, this is a great system to get. It has a good library of games available and the graphics are really sharp. You should be prepared to have an HDTV as the games are developed to work on these. If you have a non-HD television then you may have trouble reading/seeing things on the screen. As far as the problem with systems breaking down. They do. The system comes with a 1 year warantee for the system and 3 years for the common "three flashing red lights" problem. Also, you can get an extended warantee through Microsoft that is renewable for as long as you like. If you are trying to pick between systems then here's the common thoughts on the choice: The Wii is for people who like Mario and simple fun minigames. The PS3 is for people who always want the cutting edge technology and are willing to wait for more games to come out. The Xbox 360 is the middle ground.

The Xbox 360 is by far the best video game system ever devised. The graphics are so amazing you can see the sweat streaming off your player and the wireless controllers never miscommunicate with the console so you don't lose a life in your game. It's also extremely fast, reliable, simple to understand and it's games are the best out of all the video gaming consoles. Xbox live is amazing and it isn't too expensive and the system. Also, you can customize your own profile, it records your accomplishments, and it can play DVD's which is extremely nice if you can't afford to buy a seperate DVD player or you don't want to. Plus for people who have an HD television then the video gaming experience from this console gets better and better. The Xbox 360 is one of the greatest buys.
