Not for everything... definitely for me!

Had a rough time deciding between the Microsoft Touch and the Logitech Performance MX, but ended up purchasing the Touch. Pros: Modern design (The mouse is not too big, but not so small that anyone with larger hands would "overreach." Looks beautiful and feels great in your hand) Gestures are useful (It took me about an hour to get comfortable using the mouses gestures, especially the three-finger up moment, but once I got it down it was easy to use and very efficient) Responsive (There was no lag between the movements and the cursor. More notably, I have been using the mouse on the arm of a recliner and not on a flat surface. The mouse has still been phenomenal) Optional cursor graphics that indicate which "gesture" is being used Long battery life Cons: Takes some getting used to and some tweeking of the default settings in order to match what you want in terms of scroll speeds, responsiveness, sensitivity, etc. Price (This product is primarily for gadget-lovers or productivity junkies) Windows 8 release in 2012 (although multiple sources have suggested that this mouse will be compatible with the new Windows in "some ways") Some things that I read in other reviews that were not justified in actual use: Some reviews claimed that the material on the mouse makes it difficult for "sweaty" fingers to make the gestures. I did not find this to be the case, other than if they were greasy from some food. However, the mouse is essentially a touchscreen, so you should use the same precautions for the mouse that you would for any other touchscreen device (i.e. wash your hands) It is true that you can not simultaneously click left and right. This is because these "buttons" are on in the same, pivoting to whichever side is pressed. I have not found this to be a problem!

I purchased this mouse more than a year ago. I was drawn to it because it was made by Microsoft and the gesture options are great for quick access and moving around on your desktop. My computer is hooked up to a 50" TV screen and I use it extensively for photo editing and as an entertainment center. I had hoped this mouse would allow me to accurately move through pictures and quickly flip between programs....it doesn't. From the beginning I have had issues with the multi-touch options. I am not sure if this is a design issue or if my hands are oddly shaped but the mouse will often move forward or back on my browser without me making the corresponding movement. It also moves my windows around when I attempt to click on items. The touch to scroll option works about 75% of the time and I often have to turn it off and rub it with a cloth to get it to work. The left/right click option has an abysmal rate of recognition and I would say it correctly clicks less than 60% of the time....if it works at all which happens less than 50% of the time. The Blue Track laser also seems to be hit an miss. I have tried three different mouse pads and I have not seen any improvement in it's accuracy or movement speed. I have had the mouse replaced and installed every update from Microsoft. At this point I miss the roller mouse that came with my computer. I would not recommend this mouse to anyone. I purchased another brand's mouse and have had no problems with it for 3 months. Whether this Microsoft mouse is badly designed or badly built is anyone's guess but don't make it your mistake. Stay away.

I really want to like this mouse. It's smaller than I'd like, flatter than I'd like and I've never been a huge fan of wireless mice. I'm willing to forgive all of that. As a work mouse, this is a dream. Being able to control and dismiss windows within Windows 7 is pretty fantastic. Learning to remember that you have these gestures available to you takes a little bit of time. It's not quite as intuitive as the Apple solution but I can see what they were chasing. This mouse was designed for workflow, not to be clever. Frankly, I'd love to keep it but anyone who wants to play any games with this mouse is going to run in a huge wall: the right click. You cannot right click if your index finger is touching the mouse and you cannot hold the right mouse button while clicking the left mouse button. This is extremely counter-intuitive but it's not something I run into on a day to day basis. It seems to be the kind of situation you only really run into when you're gaming but it's enough of a show-stopper to let me know that this isn't the mouse for my personal computers.

I’m happy to pay the extra cost for a nice mouse and/or keyboard. The Touch Wireless Mouse appeared to be worth it based on the feel and finish. Unfortunately after setting it up (this was fast and simple with the included USB communicator), usage issues became immediately apparent. The mouse doesn’t conform to medium or larger hands. It’s not that it’s too thin or small, but more that it’s too thin in the wrong locations. I confirmed this with a couple of different users. Even worse, the touch features seem to have a mind of their own. Vertical scrolling was extremely jerky, right clicking caused left click responses. I disabled all of the extra swipe features because WEB surfing was difficult, but the mouse still seemed to have a mind of it’s own. Even stranger, we had to replace the batteries twice in less than three weeks.

Had great hopes for a tactile mouse for the PC.

But it wasn't to be. The texture on the surface of the mouse is intriguing and nicely slippery, but the response on screen is not immediate. Not a timing issue, is like you have to run your fingers a little while for the scroll to pop into place. On Apple's mouse, you slide your finger and the scroll happens immediately, as if you were pushing the content with your finger. Not on this MS mouse. The shape was also a disappointment, as I thought it would shape nicely inside my palm, but after using my Logitech mouse for a while, the MS mouse gave me muscle cramps in my hands. The gestures are awesome, though. I really wanted this mouse to work as smoothly and responsive as Apple's. Not to be, so please MS, give us the definitive Windows mouse.

First off, the concept and functionality are great. Two, I like the features, but if you have medium annd larger hands this mouse is going to drive you a bit crazy. There's not enough of it to comfortably hold, after a while I find my hand getting tired of trying to manipulate it. Three, and probably tied with #1 for most annoying is the one button design (the mouse determines whether you're lclicking or rclicking) means that exactly where I'm trying to hold the mouse is where the shell comes together on both sides of the mouse, and that means I'm pinching my thumb and third finger EVERYtime I click. You can work around this, but it's annoying as hell and I think is a design flaw.

It's responsiveness, is impressive. Took half an hour to get accustomed to it's features. It's Tracking is incredible and exact. After six hours of near constant use; hand not fatigued. Well contsructed with easiest set-up imaginable. Works great with Windows 7 and works okay with, XP Proffessional. Not a new toy, by any means. I received more than, I expected.

    Not the mouse for me

Initially I was going to pass on this mouse because it was just too expensive, but then I caught a break. It was on sale! My problem with the device is that, although very compatible with Windows 7 it was too sensitive. Adjusting my hand on the mouse would cause a window to minimize or slide to the right or left. if I was scrolling and then moving my hand back in place, the whole window would minimize. The whole front half of the surface on the mouse was touch sensitive and very sensitive at that. So I returned the mouse and am using the Explorer Touch Mouse. We'll see how that goes. While I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, I can see how some people would love this mouse.

Great Mouse. Does what it says. Touch sensors are really accurate. Can move up/down and left/right in a document very easily. Minimize/Maximize Windows, Stack on Left/Right. Really nice functions. The only bad thing is that your hand needs a little time to adjust to the design. The Design could have been made a little better for Natural Ease of use. But, once you get used to it, you will love it. The other bad thing is that the Right click only works if you lift the Left Finger off the Sensors. Other than that, Great product !!

This mouse really speeds up my work. I run two monitors and normally have about 10 windows open. I love the fact that I can quickly look at every open window using 3 fingers and then select the one I want. Minimizing and maximizing is much quicker because you don't have to hunt for the upper right corner of a window. I also really like the vertical and horizontal scrolling with 1 finger. This is fantastic when dealing with large spreadsheets that require scrolling. If you're willing to learn the mouse and adapt to it, you'll like it.

This is a terrible mouse, Hard to use , not ergonomic in any sense of the word. Doesn't fit the hand very well, (too flat to be comfortable), doesn't glide over mouse pads very well. The "touch functions" are hard to get used to but functional. The problem with them is alot of my programming don't work well with the touch functions for scrolling and side to side motions. Pretty much a very poor design overall. I took it back the next day.

This mouse kills batteries if you forget to turn it off, additionally, because the left and right click buttons are not truly separate sometimes a left click turns into an unintended right click. this is one of the most disappointing mouses i have ever used. really sad as i was anticipating this device for quite some time before it arrived in stores.

This was a great idea, and I really wish it worked. Needed more styles here. A more ergonomic product. This was too low, height was a major issue. It sits so low in your palm that your hand hurts when using it for even a short amount of time. It's also very sensitive to touch, and I wish it was easier to control scrolling with your fingers.

I had to return this mouse to BB. It's so sensitive it made the screen jump whenever it was touched. Made hitting a box really difficult. Didn't matter what kind of mouse pad I used with it either! Screen jumping is unacceptable. I've replaced it with a wireless keyboard which came with a mouse and there's no more screen jumping.

If your index finger is on the mouse, you cannot right click. You need to lift your finger to right click. Also you cannot hold and click at the same time #mousefail
