Reviewed a week ago and wish had given 2 stars rather than 5 stars. As I live with it and get to know it, it's strength is that is probably more efficient and much quicker than prior operating systems, thus 5 stars. However, some issues are raising their ugly head. While I could live with their deleting the 'create shortcut' from the right click menu on the desktop and burying it deep in the menu structure, what I can't live with is setting up my desktop icon as I like them, grouping software groups (MS Office Suite, Adobe CC, etc ) and subject groups (finance, utilities, etc.) together, what I can't live with is Windows inexplicitly rearranging them into single columns (3 wide in my case) down the left of the desktop all in random order. Searching, I have tried multiple 'solutions' to no avail, including registry changes, and after arranging back 3-4 times per week have finally given up. Worse, my internet search reveals that this has been an ongoing complaint/problem since August 2015 and Microsoft has not fixed it. Contrast that with Apple when they release a new OSX/IOS version that is suddenly found to have issues they issue a patch within days or weeks. Microsoft either doesn't care, doesn't know how to fix it, or worse, blames another software (which I don't have on my computer). The two photos attached show my desired placement and Microsoft's rearranged mess.
My only alternative is to take them off the desktop and place them in the chunky blocks of the Start menu they introduced with Windows 8 that everyone hated, although I could have ir displace all the garbage/salesware Microsoft thinks I want on the Start menu. Works OK with programs, but forget about browser links saved to desktop, particularly if they have a competing app in their Store. Facebook is a good example as Microsoft's app, while free, is severely lacking compared to direct signon to facebook.com. Most notable, if you have related business accounts under your primary Facebook account, they are totally missing in the app.

Worked great all bundled up in a nice package! The box was well designed.
It contained - USB 3.0 Thumb Drive w/ Windows 10 & both x32/x64 versions.
- And a nice durable business type card with the all important "Activation Code"
Was very easy to install and VERY Fast as it's USB 3.0 *Compared to Old DVD-ROM* Install.
Glad I purchased the "Retail" Copy so I know i'll have this OS for years/computers to come. :) *In-case I upgrade or need a clean install*

Excellent idea by Microsoft, you buy the USB drive, plug it in your computer, it installs and activates immediately.

It's Windows. And Slightly Too Invasive, But...

I went from Windows 7 to 10 during my first PC build. Windows 10 is pretty cool and a little easier to navigate. I wasn't a big fan of the 'Recommended' install which checks the box(es) for sending location, browse history, every click I make with the mouse to Microsoft to 'enhance my experience'. You can opt out of all of these super personally invasive options by running the Custom install (which I did). Other than that, in the box is a USB stick which contains the Windows 10 program on it (so you don't have to buy a separate USB, download Windows 10 from a different computer and then install on your new system - like I was told I would have to do - thanks Geek Squad! I just wasted 12 bucks on a flash drive!).

Easy Install on New Build

Built a new computer for my sister, as she was going back to school and needed something more than a netbook for serious tasks and gaming. This was pretty simple to install on a new computer build. It comes on a USB 3.0 stick, you just plug it into a USB port (I plugged it straight into the motherboard back panel) and boot your system, and it goes straight to the Windows Installation screen. From there you just do a simple setup, and your good to go. Maybe 15, 30 minutes tops. You also don't need to initialize a spanking new out of the box hard drive or ssd before installation (Also gives you the option to install over a pre-existing hard drive, which wipes it) Pretty straight forward, easiest part of building the computer by far.

Not a lot of choices in the OS space

Not a lot of choices in the OS space, however Windows 10 is a much needed improvement over 8.x I was very happy with Windows 7 and waited for 10. The fact that this comes on a USB drive is a huge bonus. Installation was easy and updates were fairly quick. This is a complete rewrite of the interface. However, if you dig deep into the menus, you will find remnants of previous versions. Still a work in progress but very stable.

Windows 10 Home is great for everyday user

Windows 10 home corrects most of the problems that arrived with windows 8 home and that is great for most people; however, for power users that like choosing which updates to install individually which was the case prior to windows 10 will not be happy.. Windows 10 home forces all updates down users throats. This is a big issue especially for someone that does not understand what device drivers are. For example when you install a video card/chipset normally what happens is you install the proper drivers for that particular video device. well for windows 10 it's possible after that is done, microsoft windows updates might possibly override those video drivers. what will happen is when you shutdown or restart the pc, the video output will not look right and the video drivers will have to be re-installed. this is only one case but their could be others. I love the look of windows 10 compared to windows 8 and it's improving everyday; however, legacy windows components (icons, layouts, etc.) still exist in windows 10. I understand for compatibility reasons and people migrating from previous windows that they would do this but in my humble opinion windows is still a jumbled mess. If you haven't figured it out by now I am a power user. I bought windows 10 for my mom and it gave a performance boost for the 7 year old laptop that she is using and it does the job. For the particular purpose I bought it for windows 10 works great...I just know i'm going to delay windows 10 for my own machines as much as possible.

Easy install 32/64 bit win 10 home

Called and was told this was not the right one, that the CD's were the one I needed.
Glad I did some research and found out this was the best choice. This auto detects if you have a 32 or 64 bit computer.
It comes on a flash drive. There is no cap pull off, just remove the paper strip on the end. Plug it in to the USB drive.
On my PC I had to press F-11 repetitively as the computer was starting up. Goto the boot up section and choose your USB drive. Then select save and restart. It will load windows easy.
For my PC it took about 4-5 hours to completely finish with updates. Tip- even when it says your PC is up to date... Wait 10 mins or so, then restart the PC. Rescan for updates. Do this for a few hours to get all of them quicker.
Even tho this is on a flash drive, get a 32gb thumb drive for the win restore. Finding this was a little confusing, but a Google search gave me instructions and pictures on creating a win 10 restore disk.

This is working great with my home built PC. The installation was easy, although if you don't want your Microsoft account tied to your computer (like I did) make sure you scroll to the bottom- it gives you the option to make a Local account for the PC. Installing your older favorite programs and accessories (like Flight Simulator 2004 & Saitek Cyborg Keyboard) may be a bit of a challenge. Make sure you do some research on program/accessory compatibility before you install this so you don't get stuck. Otherwise W10 boots up very quickly than past versions of Windows which is great!

Don't get me wrong. A lot of people complain about Windows 10 for it being buggy. People need to realize that by participating in technological advancements such as new operating systems there are going to be some issues. That being said, the operating system is very smooth and user friendly. Updates often but minor tweaks and fixes are a small price to pay for a great os. Over the course of the rest of the year and into the next I'm sure Windows will work on polishing the creation they have made.

My wife used a PC with windows XP for working. Related to database stuff. Specific designed programs that are probably 10 years old by now. But she still uses them. When her HD died, I put a replacement but - what about windows?- I decided to give a shot to W10, mainly because I was afraid of compatibility issues with the software she uses.
Installing - was quick - and very simple. No brainer. Once the windows was installed, I installed her software, and try them...
Nice!. Everything run softly, nicer, and quicker. No compatibility issues, now weird effects on application windows, no printing issues and now, she feels like W10 is giving her more comfort when switching applications, previewing panes and desktop, and she now uses 'Cortana'. Well, I made her happier with this W10. So this was a match point!.

When I asked at my Best Buy about, the representative told me so many good things about it. Now I know he told me the truth, best purchase ever.

Great product that was easy to install. I bought this when I built a new computer and needed Windows. The USB was handy, instructions were clear. I figure you know what you're getting with Windows.

This is by far the best release of the Windows OS to date! It does a perfect job of blending in the great features we were used to from Windows 7 along with the stability and performance upgrades of Windows 8. I highly recommend upgrading if you have not done so!

Having used every version of Windows to have come out over the past 20+ years, I can say without a doubt that this version is by far the best I have ever had the fortune of experiencing. Speed, stability, security and more are all on point with this edition.
