Spongy Triggers and Poor Quality Thumbsticks

I have always liked the design and ergonomics of Xbox controllers, going all the way back to the original Xbox controller "S", the Xbox 360 controller, and now the Xbox One controller. The newest version of the Xbox One wireless controller features built-in Bluetooth for wireless syncing with a PC. This is nice. However, they also redesigned the controller bumpers and the triggers. The bumpers are supposed to be better because the previous design did not let you press down on the top of the bumper / closer to the middle of the controller, you had to press on the outermost edge of the bumper. This new bumper lets you press anywhere on the button. However, the buttons feel less "clicky" and I preferred the old bumpers. It's the same story for the triggers. They feel spongy, they are not as springy as previous versions. These controllers still use the same ALPS analog sensors for the analog thumbsticks, and thus, they are still vulnerable to getting "stick drift". My controllers typically last about 6 months before I start experiencing stick drift, but my most recent controller (this new version) started left stick drfiting in less than 2 months. I would recommend investing in the product replacement plan when purchasing Xbox One controllers.

I figured this was just another XBox One controller albeit in a different color. This controller seems to be a little different, though, in that it occasionally needs an update. The process is pretty simple and the XBox one handles the process, but this was something I never encountered with any of my other XBox One controllers. I have to wonder what makes this one special. Along those lines, I have noticed since the last update that starting my XBox One with this controller will cause the XBox One to freeze. I cannot confirm yet that it is because of this specific controller, but I had not experienced that problem until after the most recent update for this controller. For what it's worth, the A, B, X, and Y buttons are not color coded in and of themselves. Rather, there is a little color dot off to the side of the respective buttons. Not a huge deal, but I personally would have preferred that the buttons (or maybe the letters themselves) were colored. I did not notice this when initially purchasing the controller, but now that I am aware of it, I find it somewhat annoying. Given these two issues, I would probably recommend that you purchase a different XBox One controller (unless you are absolutely enamored with the color).

Let me start by saying, this is the best video game controller ever designed, it fits perfect in my hand, feel strong, sturdy and the buttons are perfect. If design alone were all I was scoring I'd give it a 10, but that's not everything. When comparing the XBox One controller to the One s controller I've noticed some bad things and can only hope I got a dud out of the box. 1. The battery is half as good as the XBox One's controller, this new controller drains with 2hrs of gameplay. 2. It disconnects constantly from the Xbox while I'm playing games 3. It's difficult to connect to your PC when you want to stream games from your system, it seems to get confused on where it should connect, to be fair I have not read the manual on this controller and connecting it via Bluetooth, but it just seems harder then it should be. Like I said, I love the design and color, but something has to change about the battery Bluetooth and disconnect issues. If these issues are fixed then I would definitely recommend this controller to a friend.

Works fine and as intended but there is a physical feel difference between this and the original Xbox One controllers and I am not talking about the somewhat textured grip on the back. The upper bumper shoulder buttons RB, LB feel detached and cheap like they are going to fail. The controller itself physically feels weaker and cheaper than original Xbox One controllers. I can feel the plastic shift when it is held hard and the seams almost seem to separate. Overall just a cheep feeling controller. I have three of the new bluetooth XBone S controllers and they all feel like this. The original Xbox One contrrollers I know had hard to press shoulder buttons but at least they had a very firm feel and didnt feel like they might crush in or snap. I know this has bluetooth so that is a good feature if you need it. Bottom line: You need a new Xbox One wireless controller, these are all you can buy now so you buy one and get used to it. The lower quality feeling doesnt typically take away from gameplay at all.

Not very happy with this and other generic xbox brand controllers. I must be hard on them, and not in a slamming on the desk raging kind of way. I mean having big hands maybe I just squeeze them too hard. But I've bought 3 generic brand controllers that would have the Y button start sticking, and the sticks go out. And at their worst would make game movements I didn't want them to make like they disconnected for a split second or something before coming back under control. If you are like me and play hard with your controllers I'd suggest investing in the Elite controller or Razer I believe makes a similar. I personally own the Elite and really enjoy it. Though being as expensive as it is I would definitely invest in the insurance plan Best Buy offers just in case.

Left thumbstick wore out too fast

I bought this controller mainly because the controller has textured triggers which feel nice, as opposed to the smooth triggers on regular controllers. I bought this controller back on 1/10/19 and 5 months later, the left thumbstick is so worn out that it walks by itself to the point that I have to manually correct it and stop it from moving by itself. I've been playing a lot of Black Ops 4 and it seems like the internals of this controller don't last very long. I'm really disappointed and expected this to last longer than it did, especially for how much a replacement controller costs too. I normally have a controller last me minimum 1+ years before needing to replace them.

Well my honest opinion, which has nothing to do with best buy.. Always a great visit when go to best buy. The issue I have with the controller is xbox went very cheap on these and to be honest they dont last very long at all... Usually good for 3 or 4 months. I did watch on youtube a video about this controller and what to do when the problems start.... now myself it would last 4 ever but I dont play my son although lives on it... I think they should fix the issues.. it seems like I'm constantly buying new ones. Since last xmas in 2017 I've. Bought at the least 5 to 6 controllers. Went from this one which normally runs $70 to buying ones for $20... seemed to last the same amount of time..... I would recommend only because it's one a the better ones they make

It's an xbox controller. I bought it for how much ever I bought it for to use with my computer. I thought I would be able to use it for more than what I've been able to use it, but it doesn't work well with my surface book 2. I think the price should be lower, especially since they don't come with any USB. And though, I do like the controller (mostly its looks) I wouldn't likely recommend it to anyone else. This is mostly because not many I know would even have a purpose for it with no xbox or computer. Maybe its time to persuade Microsoft to change to a more universal remote or drop the price on there xbox one remotes altogether.

I purchased the Blue controller to replace another, the color and texture are great, but ….. there is a connection issue with the main unit. With our setup, 4 controller on a 75" tv works out to be about 32" per player in UHD. Normally , all controllers would be about 12 to 15 feet from the tv, but this controller keeps disconnecting , forcing the user to get uncomfortably close to such a large viewing platform in order to maintain a connection. It was a Christmas present, and because I purchased early, I will not be able to return it for a working equivalent due to the 2+ hour drive to my nearest store.

    Ball Dropped On Quality

I'm a huge Xbox fan but Microsoft has really dropped the ball on quality with Xbox One Controllers, especially these new ones that have bluetooth. The xbox button was hard to press and off center. These controllers are know to get stick drift with time and the bumper buttons have a flaw that make them pron to failure. I still think they are some of the best feeling controllers around, super comfortable to play on but given their high price it's annoying how cheap they are. They also only have a 3 month warranty out of the box so don't expect any help from Microsoft. Would recommend buying with a Best Buy extended warranty, that way your at least covered for a year or two.

Looking for a second controller to match my gaming laptop, I picked this one due to the gradient color effect. When I opened the box and held it for the first time, the plastic used to for the body of the controller felt light and cheap. It didnt feel like a normal Microsoft controller so I assume it has something to do with the materials needed to give the color effect they were going for. The body also creaked when gripping in my right palm which also drove me crazy. The controller was overall functional just as any official Xbox controller, however I wasn't happy with the feel and creaky-ness so I ended up taking it back.

I'm not sure what it is with the newer (past two years) Xbox one controllers, but everyone I've purchased has had something break or deteriorate. On this particular controller, my right thumbstick will drift on certain games. I really like the design of the controller, also enjoy the way it feels in my hands, especially the grip, but it's so frustrating having to deal with these builds anymore. I don't know what Microsoft did in the past but their controllers lasted much longer than they do anymore.

Picked up this controller for the expansion port so I could play Starlink with my wife. I normally use a 3rd party controller which works just as well. Since we've discovered a 2nd official controller isn't necessary for Starlink (since you can add the accessories digitally instead of needing to connect a ship to the 2nd controller) I'm likely going to return this. I actually prefer a wired controller with a decent-length cable to there's reduced input lag and I don;t need to worry about (or waste) batteries.

I got this controller as a Christmas gift. I have had it for several months now. Pros: The grips on the controller are good for when your hands sweat on in general I love the weight of the controller, feels solid The color scheme and pattern are cool Cons: It lasted 2 months and the left thumb stick is not working. I don't feel that I was rough on it. It locks up and pulls to the left now The thumb sticks get caked in dirt and dust on the top part. I wouldn't recommend this controller since I had it only 2 months before it broke.

Good controller, unfortunately the 6th one ive bought from this store. Every other one i purchased stopped working. Almost starting to think either this best buy or all of them purchase older, cheaper product. And sell them to us customers for normal price. Not right that I've had to buy 7 controllers in order to play fortnite with a headset. Controllers work for 2 months and they stop working. Figure it out best buy.

3.5mm Jack did not work with headsets

I would of given a 4 or 5 but the only reason I purchased this controller is because it has a 3.5mm jack in addition to the expansion slot so there is no need for an adapter to use a headset. But straight out of the box the 3.5mm jack did not work with any of my headsets or headphones. I spent over 2 hours with Microsoft support who finally told me to return it to the retailer.. then when I tried to return it Customer Service told me I couldn't without a paper receipt even though I am a rewards member and my transactions are there to see. I am heading back again today to try to exchange it.

There is something about the feel of the XBOX ONE X controller that feels off. It doesn't have that same hefty feel of quality that the X360 controller had. The sticks feel ok as do the buttons, but the D Pad is horrible. like really horrible. It's cheap plastic and really wiggly. I hate that this is the stock controller for the system. I'd really don't want to recommend this controller to my friends but sadly I have to as there is nothing else comparable. I don't want to spend 150$ on a Elite controller to see if it has a decent D Pad.

So I purchased this controller to connect with my first gen xbox one. The side of the controller box said xbox one-s and I didn't notice in store. While it would connect to my xbox and operate in game, it would randomly shut off without warning and it wasn't due to the batteries. It could have been specific to this particular controller but I took it back and exchanged it for one that didn't specify xbox one-s on the controller box and everything has been great. Best Buy even let me exchange it after my return/exchange period had passed.

I can not believe that Microsoft still requires AA batteries or a separate purchase of a rechargeable battery pack for these controllers. This model is the refresh for when Xbox One S was released and they didn’t take the opportunity to fix this. For the record PlayStation 4 is a much better controller but it’s not as easy to set up with PC so that’s why I ended up purchasing this controller. It works fine as expected but there is a very annoying clicking that occurs when you move the analog sticks to their borders.

Unfortunately there really aren't any good controller options nowadays. This is good enough but shortly after playing I noticed the right stick would glitch at random times. It's subtle and likely you'd miss it, unless you're playing rocket league like I do. Really makes the game much more difficult so back the controller goes. Got the warranty so it should be a straight forward swap which is nice. Waiting for razr ultimate to go on sale again.
