Outstanding addition to my viewing options
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this after returning a Google Chromecast device because it could not provide a reliable viewing option throughout my house and/or in a hotel because that device, as well as others like it, depends on an external wireless network with a strong signal and good bandwidth. The Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter has its own wireless built in and I have tested it at length in my own house and during a recent hotel stay. In both instances, I easily plugged it into the TV in the room, connected with my Surface Pro 2, and watched full HD shows and movies that were not available otherwise in those locations. Truly excellent and I am surprised it is not marketed better.

Does its job
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the adapter functions well, audio and visual are transferred over to a bigger screen. Only issue I've had with it is that at times when I'm watching movies on Netflix it lags but then continues working fine. Also the instructions say that device must be at most 20 feet away from adapter but I think it's less, at around 10-15 feet away it'll stop projecting fully. Either way for the purpose that I use it and since my laptop is very near to the adapter when I use it, I like the product and recommend.

Solid product worth purchasing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product is plug and play! I'm using it with the Miracast feature on my Android phone. It works perfect with YouTube and for viewing pics and videos on my phone. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I noticed there is a slight lag when using it with certain apps, namely Vevo. But it's nothing that prevents me from loving it!

Could not make it work.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup using Surface Pro 4 was not user friendly. All items downloaded and still would not work. Returned for Actiontec Sreen Beam 2 which worked without having to download any software or app.

Simply put -- it works as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used this adapter with my Surface Pro 3 and another budget laptop. On the surface, or rather devices with good video and speed specs, the video you see on screen is pretty much lag free. I typically play full-screen 1080P videos if that helps you understand that this wireless adapter does keep up. I find it most convenient to use it as an extended monitor or 2nd monitor only option. Because it is a wireless signal, I do see very minor pixilation in a band or two onscreen which corrects itself almost as soon as it starts -- nothing even close to being an issue for the functionality this device provides.

Good but not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted this to work out but I could not get past the lag and resolution issues I was having. Maybe I had a faulty unit. Maybe it was a software issue and not hardware? But the resolution was pretty bad when scrolling or when there was a lot of movement. For now I will stick with the direct Mini Display-Port. Though I am very curious if this works better in Windows 10. For now it seems like a neat toy for home use more then a polished product for work.

Works great. No router needed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked everywhere for a wireless cast that doesn't require a router. I just use my phone data to cast shows to my TV. Mine works great, no lag just a rare freeze. I am using a Lumia 635 windows phone with LTE service (haven't tried my Android yet). It was a good deal as the "Deal Of The Day", but I would have definitely paid full price. Note: although you don't need to be connected to Wi-Fi, you do have to have your phone Wi-Fi turned on. (I thought it didn't work until I figured this out)

Good, could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great with Intel graphics cards. If your device has Nvidia or something else though that's a different story. With the Intel graphics though- this is more reliable for my HP laptop to connect to my tv than my Apple TV and MacBook Air AirPlay connection. This has none of the buggy disconnects I experience with the apple stuff.

Had to work to get it to connect to Surface Pro 3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The wireless display adapter was supposed to be very simple to install and use. It comes in a nice package and hooked up to my Vizio TV, no problem. I turned on a new Surface Pro 3 and it found the adapter, but when trying to connect, it (it showed on the TV that it was trying to connect to the Surface), it blinked and went back to the "Ready to Connect" screen. After wasting several hours looking for solutions, I found a site https://thatwasannoyingtolearn.wordpress.com/ which had a step by step way to get it to connect. I think the driver page link has been updated since the driver file was not named the same, but at the end of the post, it said to just uninstall the Inte(R) HD Graphics Family driver and reboot. This worked ant the Surface Pro 3 connected without any problem. You'd think that a MicroSoft product would connect seamlessly. I think the MicroSoft updates messed up the drivers and the reinstall (automatic after the reboot) fixed it. It should have been at least suggested on the MicroSoft help page...

Works great with newer laptops, Surfaces, WP8.1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for my wife to use after finding out the hard way the Fire TV Stick is NOT a miracast device. She wanted to use the big tv in the den as a teaching display for a kid's Unity programming class without an HDMI cable running through the room. My Nokia 1520 Windows Phone 8.1 works very well with this, as does any number of newer laptops / surface tablets, higher end phones, pretty much anything that is running windows 8.1 and is relatively recent or has intel WiDi / Miracast features built in that you can upgrade the firmware/software on. My wife's Samsung Galaxy S5 will work with this as well. Supposedly her older Galaxy S4 will work as well, but haven't tried that one out. This is a very handy tool to have to complement a Chromecast, Fire TV Stick, and Apple TV. What they need to come out with now is a wifi usb adapter that has Miracast compatible WiDi built into it, so you can cast from older desktops or laptops running windows 7/8.1.

Works great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This works very well. There is barely any noticeable delay/lag when streaming directly to my tv. I was also able to connect it and stream my phones display to my XboxOne and view my phones display in both full screen and in snap mode while gaming. I can listen to Pandora and use any other of my phone apps and features and make phone calls too while gaming on my Xbox one! This is really awesome and well worth the small price of $59.99. Don't hesitate, buy one now!

Finally!!!!! :D
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After an extensive search throughout the net I came across this little gadget! I needed something to be able to display my Samsung Tab 4 for our vacation trip to Cuba.... (3rd world country = no WiFi) so, I originally purchased Chromecast but it's demand for an active Access Point which was pointless... I needed to be able to display content for my 19m/o daughter so she wont be bored out of her mind in our trip. Setting this device up was ridiculously easy... Literally almost Plug-N-Play... If you're looking for a standalone dongle that is not dependent on WiFi or an active internet connection this is the device for you just make sure to do your research for compatability since Win7 is not compatible with it since miracast was only added to Win8-8.x. Works great with androids 4.2.x +. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great for projecting video
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like to watch shows/sporting events online and needed to find a way to project my PC's video on to my main TV. Devices: Samsung TV Onkyo Receiver These are connected via the ARC port on the TV (HDMI and am using Anynet+ so the TV is the main HDMI hub and not the receiver# Surface Pro #original# running Windows 8.1 To install you plug the HDMI AND USB connection in to the TV #USB is for power# and changed my input to the HDMI connection the adapter was plugged in to. On the Computer Select Devices #Windows Key + K or swipe right to left and pick devices) Select Project Select Add wireless device It will now connect to your TV and mirror your display and send the audio to the TV #Sound will be turned off on computer so it will just be on the TV). I have NHL Center Ice and used it first to send a hockey game to my TV and the picture was great!

Great Technology!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a graphic designer who works at home but I also like working at from outside the house so I use my Microsoft Surface Pro 3. I was looking for a way to maximize my Surface Pro 3 which has a small screen. I didnt want to purchase a big TV which costs a lot. I bought a 22" display and found this adapter. It was easy to set up and the graphics was great!

Easy to use

Decent wireless adapter
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Microsoft wireless adapter does a decent job in transmitting what's on your Surface Pro 4 to the big screen. Setup was relatively easy and the screen lag wasn't that awful. One thing you'll need to consider is that it requires a USB power source so make sure your TV has one or buy one. Luckily I had a spare phone charger that works with the device.

Great when it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it works it's very useful, can project laptop and phone screen across room, however about 20% of the time it is difficult to connect or once connected it loses connection and have to reset device

Working Well with Windows 10
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an HP Envy Laptop about six months old and a Samsung HD TV about four years old. The laptop was converted from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 this summer. The Wireless Adapter, which I received yesterday, connected with no problems and the TV receives everything I send from the laptop, also with no problems. I didn’t do anything special except to keep current with all HP and Windows updates. I don’t do games, so I cannot comment on that aspect. If things change, I will update evaluation.
