    Most disappointing official accessory ever

    Posted
    Tephlon

This is by far the poorest accessory produced by Microsoft at the moment. It's very expensive, and it's disappointing in almost every way. The only thing I can't really complain about is it's fit. Others have complained about comfort, but I never really had a problem with it. I could wear it for hours (I believe), if it would work that long. But unfortunately, battery life is fair to poor, and it's range is horrendous. I would say the general design of the headset is good. The up and down volume buttons worked easy enough for me, and it's easy to mute. I also found it to be comfortable enough... but I didn't wear it very long because of how close I was forced to sit to the console. I sit 10-12 feet from my xbox, and I although I can play flawlessly with my wireless controller (the controller works well into 20 feet for me), the headset simply can't maintain a connection with the console. If I sit on the floor in front of my couch and 'lean forward', I can keep a connection, but if I lean back I lose it. Also, as I said before, when it is connected, the quality isn't as good as the wired headsets. Some have complained about losing 'sync' with the console, but I personally wouldn't describe my issues as such. I'm the only player on the console 96% of the time, and I'm always player one. I connected the headset and it synced as player one. I've never since had any issues with the headset 'confusing' which player I am, or try to connect to another player 'slot'. It's done very well staying 'synced', it simply doesn't have any amount of range. If I step back into range, it instantly works again. Step out, it 'cuts off'. Step back in, works again perfectly... etc, etc, ad nauseum. I find it to be a poor value, but much of that stems from the fact that it simply doesn't work in my environment. If I had my console in a small bedroom or paired with a small TV, and I stayed relatively close to the console, I'm sure it would work fine. In fact, for a short time, I did this very thing and I never had any problem with it. Plug it in to charge after every use and stay close the console and you'll love this headset. But forget to charge it, or sit more than 6 feet from the TV... and you'll wind up crushing this device under the heel of your boot.

Not as bad as I expected

I was impressed with the battery life at first. Seemed to last much longer than the advertised 8 hours. I would keep it on for approximately 12 hours sometimes (I work from home and would keep it connected even if I was idle for a while to do my job - no I don't play THAT much!!). Point is, even after the 8 hours, I would check power levels and the first hair would have barely been shaved off the headset indicator which suggests it would have lasted at least another 4 hours or more. Unfortunately, battery life has started to diminish. I now feel like the 8 hours of gameplay advertised are more accurate, and I fear it'll continue to diminish to the point where it'll last only a few hours as stated in other user's reviews I've read. Another gripe I have is the range. My office isn't 30 feet away from the bathroom (more like 15) down the hall, but when I have to get up to potty, it almost always disconnects until I walk back close enough to regain connection with my controller/Xbox. Not that I would need it, but it'd be nice to gross out friends and fellow players with the sweet, glorious sounds of my tinkle!!! Gross, but seriously, it's annoying. Sound quality despite the short connection distance is quite good. Loud and clear and not muffled at all. Finally, the only reason I rated design and comfort lower than 5 is because this sucker HURTS my ears. So it may just be me, but I find it very uncomfortable after a while. I wsh the ear ring wasn't closed, rather for one side to be open like a more traditional Bluetooth headset. It's hard sometimes to put it on without squishing my ear in. I know I have bigger ears, but their not DUMBO ears! Now if only I could control some of the garbage that comes out the mouths of the noobs on MW2... I would enjoy this headset 100%!!!

I really don't understand, I have read a lot of the reviews on this item and everyone complains about short battery life. Now, if you use this headset correctly you should have no problems with this. Just like any other battery operated wireless item you have to follow the directions of use. If you get this item (which I recommend you do) make sure to charge it for the amount of time the instructions say before using this item (which I believe is 8 hours). When you are done using it and shut off your x-box make sure to also turn off the headset, and if you have trouble keeping a charge after that then you should probably get a replacement headset. Also people have been complaining about static... I have never experienced this. Everyone says I sound great on this item; maybe some people should try different angles and not play near microwaves or wireless phone. The one gripe I do agree with is that the earpiece starts hurting after awhile. This normally happens after more then an hour of gaming though. The mute button is not that bad, you do have to take your hand off the controller, but only do this when you die or between games and you are fine. If you are someone who likes to talk then why mute yourself anyway? The sound coming to you is great and you can adjust the volume coming to you (be careful with this though, I turned down the volume all the way and did not figure out why I could not hear people for a few hours). With proper use this item is very good. I highly recommend this.

This is a very good product. its worth the $60. when I "first started useing it" it would lose signle once in a blue moon. maybe it did it 2 or 3 times a month, but after that its never did it again and i have had it for a year. it is A LOT louder than the regular 360 headset and it is A LOT more sensative to your voice than the regular 360 headset also. so the other people can hear you a lot better. but just dont have your TV or surround sound up too high or some people might tell you to turn down your tv. (i get that a lot) when i used my regular 360 headset noone ever said anything before. basically all this is, is a bluetooth headset. You can barely tell its on your ear it is so light weight. And, you can also move your head around all you want up/down or even shake your head like a mad man and this thing will not come off. trust me i thought it would when i first bought it and it doesnt. the range of this headset is about 15 feet, the box says 25feet but its not. the battery last 8 hours on a full charge. if you charge it with your 360 on it will charge faster (dont ask me why, it just does) takes about 4 hours to charge. some peolple say the battery doesnt last long but what I think the problem is , is that they dont CALIBRATE the battery before they start useing it. Like with anything that takes a rechargeable battery, you have to CALIBRATE your battery first. How you do that is fully charge your battery for the FIRST TIME then use it to the point where it is "Completely" dead. Then recharge it fully again and that should do it. this builds a memory for the battery to know what "fully charge is." Oh! and by the way ill be geting another one cause i got mad and threw it at a wall. "darn that host advantage in GEARS!

Seriously. all of you complain about wireless mics. if you dont like wireless mics, dont buy one. This is a REALLY good microphone NO NEED TO USE A CONTROLLER TO USE IT.. it could be alittle uncomfortable, but its a really good mic. Good on range (up to 30 feet) and Awesome battery life. FOR THOSE WHO THINK THE BATTERY SUCKS, STOP OVER CHARGING IT. the battery is small. it cant be pushing power back in and out. its confusing it. charge it when its dead. then you might see a difference. YES, i agree the price is alittle iffy, but your getting an amazing product with it. I've had this product since the xbox360 elite came out. and never had an issue with it. i love this mic. I also do have a turtle beach x41. and the astro A40 which i only use for game battles. but if i had a choice between all 3 i'd choose this mic. Honest to god. think twice about this product. its really good "IF" you take REALLY good care of it. God Bless. _Nick

    Worked Great for four Years

    Posted

I have owned this headset as long as I've owned my 360. In four years I have replaced my box two or three times, but never my headset, until now. I've reviewed several headsets, including TURTLE BEACH, and none of them were as comfortable and reliable as this little thing. I've been surprised at how well this headset has weathered stray dogs, children, wife, and my fits of rage (I've thrown it a few times, stepped on it at least a hundred times) and yet it continues to work like a charm. After about three years plus, the foam shield for the earpiece wore out, yet I didn't notice a decrease in comfort. So, I kept it. Last night I was sad to see the hearing go. The mic still works perfectly, but the earpiece has lost connection. I'm sure if I could take it apart I could fix it. I've had a reasonable experience with charge and play times. Played for 8 hours or more with a full charge. Charging takes roughly a couple of hours (2 or less). When I forget to charge it after a couple of days worth of use, I have to break out my old wired headset. To me, that's reasonable. Distance has never been an issue. Sometimes I walk through the dining room to the kitchen to grab a bowl of cereal, and I may or may not lose connection at about 25 to 30 ft. I'm very interested in seeing if all the problems people are having are due to loss of quality at the manufacturing level, or user unreasonableness. I'm buying one this week (again).

    My Mics work for me!

Okay, so I bought two wireless mics and I love them; I really don't understand all the bad reviews, but like any piece of electronic equipment, some will be buggy. I feel that everyone who is tired of being connected to their controllers should give it a try! I would definitely recommend buying two because when one dies you have the other to use (again this all depends on how much time you spend playing a night). I usually forget to charge the one I'm using, so afterward I have the other one ready to go! The battery life lasts pretty well, after a full nights charged, I believe my mic lasted about 6 or 7 hours. I love the facts that its small, fits comfortably in my ear, and people can hear me clearly when I talk trash online. I have had a couple problems with my mic and online communication, but I think it has something to do with my connection as well. So, in conclusion, BUY IT, TRY IT, and see for yourself! I loved my mics, but if I'm sure if I was one of the people who got the buggy one, then I would have disposed of them long ago.

So i was a bit skeptical about buying this product because of all of the "hit or miss" reviews i had read about it on the internet. I decided to buy it anyways because of not liking the wired mic, and i always loved the wireless mic for the original xbox. So far the mic has been great. The charge up time when it comes out of the box says about 6 hours. I charged mine up for about 4-5 and it was fully charged. I haven't charged it since then and i've played probably 4-5 hours with it, and it hasn't lost a bar of charge yet. Its very comfortable, i don't even notice i'm wearing it half the time. The buttons are simple and very easy to use. Syncing it with the 360 was as easy as hitting 2 buttons. I've walked through my house (past microwaves) and into different rooms away my 360 and the voices never cracked or faded. Sound quality is great and no one has complained about my voice coming through, and i don't talk the loudest. Excellent product but the price could be lower. Great product. Buy one today, no questions asked.

I bought this device with high hopes for a wireless experience with my endless Halo 2 matches, seeing as how the controller is such a joy to me after fighting cables for years and years. And also fighting shabbily made headsets, which for the most part, are made with smaller gamers head dimensions in mind. Being an adult gamer, a large adult, i found many of the headsets to be ill-fitting. The microsoft wireless got that part right, at least...this thing is great as far as comfort and snugness of fit around the ear. It takes some getting used to , as far as the process of getting it on properly, but it works fine. Now, as far as performance, i am less than thrilled for the price point. The volume is less than desired, and the performance online is variable. If i`m chatting one-on-one with someone in a chat session, it works fine enough. But in a game, i have little luck with it. My voice just doesnt come through strongly, without my speaking in a voice that the neighbors can hear. Unnacceptable. And i have a deep voice. I wish they`d spent an extra 20 cents for an extendable boom, so that the tiny mic is posistioned near my mouth, not on the side of my head.

I bought this mic because i needed something that didn't mess up my hair and my old mic broke. My friends online were always complaining because the mic went out of sync and I'd cut out. It sometimes made loud noises in their mics when it cut back in. Also, for what it does, it's WAY too expensive. It's $60 bucks and it does EXACTLY the same thing as the one that's $20. Mine is virtually unusable because it syncs up to my Xbox as second or third player when my controller is first player. I have to stand by my Xbox for like literally twenty minutes turning my Xbox on and off and syncing and re-syncing my mic and controller and then they finally sync up. Then it dies soon after because I used so much power trying to sync it correctly. I can't play right away either because of this. I'm going out right now to buy another cheap one. I suggest to stick with the mic that comes with the 360 and if it breaks go buy another one. Only buy this if your old mic broke and you just found $80, 60 for this mic and 20 for a new wired mic for when the expensive one breaks.

    FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!!

    saxmachine

if you read the directions and do exactly as it says you should have no problems when using this item. i have had mine for two months now and it still just like new. i charged mine for maybe 8 hrs or so when i first bought it so it would have enough to play. i never use straight six hrs of play on it cause i dont have time, but when i do use it, people never have problems hearing me, i think it lagged once since i bought it. just charge it after each use, i charge mine at night when i sleep or when im at work so its completely charged when i get back and still works. i was also gone for a week during spring break w/o it, it was charged the entire week and still works like normal even though it was being charged the ENTIRE week. connecting to a controller is not hard at all, its just like connecting a wireless controller to your 360. i highly recommend this product if you dont love wires like i dont. again, all you have to do is follow the directions EXACTLY and it will work properly.

    Buying my Second

    Posted
    bcallen2

++ This mic is very comfortable I often forget I am even wearing it, the range is great I can move all around my apartment and still communicate clearly, communication is clear on both ends, never have to worry about knocking wires out of the controller, beeps when muted so it is easy to tell if muted, easy to set up just charge and sync with xbox (just like wireless controller). -- A little pricey, but you get what you pay for, doesn't come in black for those with an elite, I feel that over time the battery life has shortened. I am buying my second headset not because the first one broke, but because I think this is a GREAT headset and I often run into the problem of the headset dying (because I do not charge it often enough) and have to go back to the wired headset. The wired headset is a real pain I often pull it out and knock it off so I can easily justify buying a second headset so that one will always be charged and waiting.

I play a lot of online games and was sick of going through the cheap corded headsets that Microsoft includes in the Xbox 360 package (I went through about 8 of them) So about 2 years ago I purchased one of these, and never looked back. It's very comfortable (coming with two different ear pieces depending on your size needed.) It has way better sound quality than the corded headset, as well as it picks up my voice much better. Furthermore, the battery seems to never run out. (I have played for up to 10 hours and it didn't die) The only complaints I have really, is that it doesn't come in any other colors, and that Microsoft doesn't make a bluetooth version that I could use on my phone or pc. I liked this headset do much, I purchased 2 of them for my friends as well. Totally worth the money.

    Worst Headset

I Bought This Headset To Avoid Xbox's Annoying Corded Headset, But Man This Thing Was Even Worse. I Went Back To Using The Headset My Elite Came With Thats How Bad It Was. Battery Died On Me In Not Even 3 Hours And Took Maybe About The Same Amount Of Time To Charge It Up Again, Which I Have No Problem With Because I Usually Charge My Stuff When Going To Sleep, But This Thing Would Need To Be Charged After Every 3 Hours Of Use, When Ever I Did Use It I Couldn't Hear Anybody Clearly, And Every One Said It Sounded Like I Was Talking From Afar,And That Became So Annoying That I Just Sold it For $1. That's How Horrible This Headset Is, And When They Had it For About 1 Week It Broke On Them, So I Believe They Got Their Money's Worth Ha Ha. But This Regular Price Is Absurd, I Can Never Recommend Anything From Xbox. And Did I Forget To Point Out That THE DESIGN IS WHACK.

    Great headset

This headset is great and if I had to knock one thing about it it would have to be that because it is wireless, it can cut out momentarily on occasion. I have a feeling this only happens because of the plethora of wireless devices I have in my house but as far as functionality it is great. Charging is a breeze, just plug it in to your xbox whether the system is on or not, the buttons are easy to use and allows for easy access to the mute button and volume controls, and I can even walk in another room and continue a conversation I am having with a friend. It is much higher quality than the headset that comes packaged in the box with the system. I bought this as a replacement after my original OEM headset died after about 6 months and I am happily going on about 2 and a half years with this headset.

first i would like to start out with i was tired of the factory headset cord getting in my way. one of my friends on xbox live had the wireless headset and told me to get it and ill be happy. so i did a little research and read some reviews and most people said it was not that good. i debated for a few days and asked my friend again and decided to go get one. since i bought it, (two months ago) i wish i would of bought it a long time ago. all of the reviews said that it wont hold a charge, well if you charge it fully before you use it and dont charge it until it almost dead you should be fine. just read the directions and take care of it and it should last a long time and you will be glad that you bought the microsoft 360 headset. P.S. i get about 8 to 9 hours out of a charge.

Suddenly stops working after three months

    kbtwelve

I have bought five wireless headsets and all have had the same problems, they quit working in less than three months. This makes the headset usefulness down to almost zero because it dies just as you're getting used to it. The value is not there either, when you will have to likely buy another one soon after buying this one. If Microsoft reduce the price down to $5.00 I may be able to recommend buying this, but it isn't worth a penny over $5.00.If you buy this product from Microsoft, you run the risk of it breaking even before you had an opportunity to use it for very long. However good news is some people have gotten past the six month mark, but the chances are yours will probably not. Would I recommend this to my friend? Absolutely not and I would never recommend it to someone I hate to see them suffer.

    Great Purchase--With Downside

    Rue225

This Headset is a wonderful purchase. It has high quality sound, and simple configuration and link with the Xbox 360 system. Yet it has a few downsides it only works within 25 feet of the system. The Headset has trouble connecting with the Xbox sometimes. This product has the Frequency of 2.4GHz the same frequency as most wireless internet transmitters, and the same frequency as some Wireless handsets for Telephones; which causes minimal interference but noticeable. I purchased this Product and within 4 months of use one day it just never turned on again. Yet because of the quality of the Sound, and how well it worked I am going to purchase it again. If you are a hardcore gamer or even relaxed like to set down your controller and just chat with your Clan members this is definately the Headset for you.

    Solid mic, but some flaws...

    Posted
    XJBx21

I bought this mic because it was wireless. it charges fast and also has enough sensitivity to hear your voice when its not real close to your mouth on your ear. I also think this mic is louder than the one that comes with the Xbox 360. But the problems that made me return this mic were these: -It's heavy on your ear, and after an hour or so of playing it starts to really hurt my ear. -If you play with the TV volume up pretty loud or have a home theater system, forget it. The mic is too sensitive and it catches all of the volume of the game you're playing or the movie you're watching and it will bother anyone you're talking to on Xbox Live. Overall, its a little overpriced, but still a good wireless mic. Hope this helped.
