    Terrible wireless distance

I wanted to use this keyboard and mouse combo from my couch 9 feet from my larger monitor. The computer is next to the monitor and I put the wireless base transmitter next to the PC. the keyboard and mouse aren't detected for 4 out of 5 clicks or keystrokes. Terrible distance reception. I looked for quite a while online and finally found a distance limitation of 6 feet (which is not labelled on their product or in the manual). Also, I found myself accidentally clicking their "additional" mouse buttons which are between your thumb and index fingers. Anyone who slides their hand slightly to the side when moving the mouse triggers this button as it is VERY sensitive. By default, it's a magnification button and you have to turn off this button via the mouse control software, which was irritating and I still get annoyed by the click noise each time I accidentallly click it. Found it on sale at Best Buy for 60. Still wasn't worth keeping because of the distance issue and the annoying button placement. I replaced it with a RocketFish bluetooth mouse/keyboard combo. MUCH better reception and standard 101-keyboard feel than Microsoft's large machine of a keyboard.

I bought this wireless combo for a new computer I just built because I wanted to free myself from the wires and get a few nice features that my last old fashioned wired mouse and keyboard didn't have. I Did like some of the features like the zoom button on the mouse and keyboard! But the wireless range was ridiculus! If I got my mouse or keyboard more than 12" from the sending unit it would warn me of poor wireless coverage and stop working! Which meant I had to put the sending unit so close to the keyboard and mouse I was More restricted than with my old one! Also, I don't know if it was because I learned on a traditional flat keyboard but this Ergo keyboard just didn't work for me! I was always missing keys and stretching to reach the right keys. Personally I just didn't like it and I am taking it back to get a more traditional styled mouse and flat keyboard. Thanks for the 14 day return policy Best Buy!

For the first year about, it worked great! I loved this keyboard combo. Keeping in mind, I previously owned another Microsoft keyboard/mouse combo before this one. The mouse on that one randomly died. So I was pretty apprehensive about buying another Microsoft brand combo. A good year later... this mouse died. Had to get my trusty P.O.S corded mouse out. :( At least it works... So if you want to spend this much money on a product that will fail at any given time, it's your call. The keyboard never fails, BUT since the beginning, it likes to stick quite a bit. I can be writing a word and it will end up like "hellooooooooooooooooo", with a letter sticking, unintentionally. Overall, Microsoft might be good with some products, but NOT mice and keyboards.

I bought this keyboard around 6 months ago, and it's almost totally insenstive now. Am going to ask Microsoft if they replace defective keyboards today. During the first 5 months though, besides the horrible wireless range, I had zero complaints about the keyboard. Mouse was a little weird, but quite good for a wireless. Would not recommend paying the full price for this set.

This keyboard/mouse combo it not a must get. True you do have nice features like programable keys, but that doesn't make up for the fact that you have to replace the batteries in this every month to two months. Spend an extra 20 bucks and you'll get something with the same features and longer life. This has now been added to my pile of back up parts and pieces.

PROS 1. Easy to install. 2. Range seems okay....I'm far enough away I can barely read the screen and it is working fine. CONS 1. Keys are quiet, but spacebar is loud....strange. 2. Mouse makes squeeking noise. 3. Home keypad is configured different from standard and as a wordprocessor that is no good for me.

Tried playing an action game and the right side of the mouse has a magnifier button that comes on if you even brush past it, impossible to play or keep any concentration on the game. Have to get another unit, probably Logitec.

Works sometimes and when it does, it is slow. I was not slow in returning it.
