A great mouse for on or off the road

I purchased this mouse a) because I wanted it to match my new Samsung R780 and b) I wanted the Intellipoint software that comes with it. I also wanted the nano transciever because I wanted to be able to leave it plugged into the USB slot while in transit and not have to worry about it breaking off or having to hunt it inside my laptop bag. This mouse has been absolutely stellar for me. To be honest, it is too soon for me to make any comments about battery life since I've only had it for about a month. It tracks accurately no matter what surface I use to mouse on (my leg, leather sofa, microfiber sofa, or a flat black computer cart shelf). Button response is spot-on as well. It does exactly what I want it to do..where-ever or when-ever. To me, it just FEELS right. The top shell of the mouse is smooth and slightly slippery, but the sides where thumb and ring finger rest have a mottled rubber coating that aids grip. The size fits my hand to a Tee. The software that comes with it really adds to the performance with tons of great features like a magnifying window or cut and paste (too many to list here). The mouse travels well, too. As stated before, I leave the nano plug in the USB slot of my laptop inside my laptop bag on the road and it has never worked its way out and/or become lost. The mouse itself is small enough to fit into any bag but large enough to find in the bag by touch alone. To sum it all up, this is a GREAT mouse. I would feel like I got my moneys' worth even if I did NOT get it on sale (but I did..making a great deal even better.)

    Good little mouse for laptop

I wanted a small wireless mouse for my new laptop because I hate laptop touchpads. This mouse fit the bill very nicely. The size and feel are really nice and the shiny black finish with the chrome strips is really stylish and elegant. The programable side buttons are also nice additions....especially the zoom feature that gives you a zoomed box that you can drag around to read fine print on a webpage. I had some trouble loading the intellipoint software. The version that came with the mouse (6.3 I believe) would not load on my laptop running Vista Home Premium SP2. I got an error message on 3 straight attempts. After downloading the latest (7.0) version, it installed fine. The other concern I have is that the green battery indicator light on top of the mouse only stays on for about 10 seconds and then dims to black. I could swear that it stayed on continously the first time I used it, which would be nice because it reminds you to turn it off. I tried putting in a new battery, but no change. I could not find any mention in the included paperwork, or anywhere online what the normal function of the light is.... i.e. Does it stay on? What does it do to let you know the battery is low? Go out....turn red....etc? Does anyone else here know? If you have one of these mice, what does your light do?

    Fantastic Product

I bought this mouse because I had some extra Rewards Points to spend, and my cabled mouse at work was starting to annoy me. Part of my job has me traveling, so I wanted to find something that would be a joy to use. After spending some time on the site, I found this mouse. The first thing that appealed to me was the style of the mouse. The silver trim and glossy black body look great on my desktop. I've had a lot of compliments about the look of the mouse from my co-workers as well. The small USB receiver is also a big highlight on this mouse. While I have seen similar receivers on other MS mice, this one tucks nicely into the underside of the mouse for easy storage. But I tend to leave it plugged in to my laptop as it so small that it doesn't get caught on anything in my bag. The final thing that I love about this mouse is how comfortable it is to use. It's lightweight and fits in my hand very well. I recommend this mouse to anyone who travels or is looking to free up some space on their desktop. The BlueTrack technology has not been put to the test yet, but with so many other features that make this mouse great, the BlueTrack technology is really icing on the cake to me.

This is a great cordless mouse! It's very comfortable and durable (unfortunately, I have dropped it many times and have had absolutely no problems with it!) The USB connector stores in the bottom of the mouse and turns off the power to save battery. I've never had any problems with connection. I had the smaller version for my laptop, which I loved, but the size of it didn't fit my hand quite right and caused hand pain for me. I found this one and ordered it and no more hand problems!. I've had this mouse for about 4 months and have only changed the battery once and I use my laptop a lot...and often forget to unplug the USB connector from the laptop and put it in the bottom of the mouse. I like it so much, I'm thinking about ordering one for my desktop too.

    ill-conceived for small hands

First of all, this is a very attractive mouse with updated technology, and the USB storage underneath is a plus. I was specifically looking for a wireless 5 button mouse to replace my wired 5 button mouse (I'm hooked...they're so convenient for page forward/backward). However, Microsoft placed the side buttons so far forward that my small hands can't reach them with my thumb and ring finger. So in order to reach them, I have to put my wrist in a painful contortion. My grandkids can't reach the buttons either. So, there is a whole demographic that Microsoft didn't even consider and therefore are losing revenue with. I gave this mouse to my husband, who is pleased with it. I went back to a Logitech, choosing the Anywhere Mouse MX instead.

Is this some sort of joke!?

Worked perfectly for a week, then... usb device not recognized. Exchanged it... right out of the box, usb device not recognized. Exchanged it again.... right out of the box, usb device not recognized. Now I've done some hunting online to find this is an unbelievably common complaint (including others like the usb transmitter getting really hot and burning out entirely). Microsoft's recommended fix is to install service pack updates, I already have them. Doesn't matter because the mice were most certainly dead since they didn't work on other computers either. Vista or XP. And no, I'm not exchanging it a 4th time, I've almost spent as much on gas as I have on the mouse. Gotta love Microsoft, every product and every OS is a beta!

Dongle Will Get Hot! Watch Out!

So I'm about 1 year into normal use with this mouse and the Dongle recently felt like the surface of the SUN! Never damaged the mouse, left it dipped in water or anything of the sorts. I looked problem up online and others like myself are experiencing this issue about 1 year into use of this mouse. You'll soon get an error from Windows that the driver has been damaged and can no longer verify the item attached to the USB slot. So other than this issue the mouse has been awesome! Once this happens though the USB Dongle is fried making the mouse a paper weight :( But take this into account before buying it and do the RESEARCH, you'll find this online! Good Luck to you all!

    Not bad

The mouse is really comfortable, light, and easy to hold. The side buttons aren't bad (take a little getting used to) and it clicks well, tracks fine, etc. The dealbreaker for me was the scroll wheel, it doesn't click like a normal scroll wheel. It's not a freespool like the logitechs, but it has just little enough resistance to move when I pick up the mouse (which i do a good amount). This causes things to jump around, pages to scroll and move. Its bad enough to have to return and I went with the logitech anywhere mouse which is much much much better. I've always used Microsoft mice in the past, so I had high hopes for this one, but can't deal with the scroll wheel.

I bought this wireless mouse for typical email/internet usage. I'm not sure if it was just incompatible with my Sony Vaio, but within a month of purchasing it, it was would freeze up and not work. It was as though the batteries were dead. So i changed them, no luck. To make it work, I had to unplug the USB drive and wait a few minutes and plug it back in. And even then, it will only work for a 5-10 minute period before it would quit on me again. I wasted $40 because it lasted me just long enough that I had pitched the receipt and packaging. I'm having much better luck with the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. It doesn't look as fancy, but it works infinitely better and costs $20 less.

BlueTrack Great! Side buttons - NOT!

    Posted
    jsyantiss

Microsoft's BlueTrack technology - any-service operation - is fantastic! This functionality should have been a priority five or more years ago, as "Presentation" pointing devices (those which operate with no surface at all) have been around for ten years. It makes mobile computing -whether moving around in the home, or at another location altogether - so much easier. If it were not for the extremely poorly-placed side buttons (back and forward navigation), this would be in the top five, or even higher, of all-time best mice. However, that really nimbus design element prevents this device from warrantying a 5-star rating.

    Not Ergonomic

My 4000 desktop was fading on me, even new batteries weren't helping so I thought, I'd get a new desktop, a better one. I suffer from RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) so I'm always on the look out for things that are "ergonomic" to ease my suffering. The keyboard is great BTW. Works like a dream, pressing the keys is like touching butter... the mouse on the other hand is a nightmare! My right arm is killing me right now and I've only been using it for 2 hours. If I continued to use this mouse, I'd end up back in Occupational Therapy within a matter of days. My right arm hurts from my shoulder to my fingertips. I don't know who researched this design at Microsoft but they failed miserably.

As someone who will never be comfortable with a touchpad, I immediately researched on a high quality laptop mouse to go with my new laptop. My Toshiba is great looking so this one amtches it well aesthetically. Assumning they hold on as promised, the battery life (10months) alone would make this a great deal already. The best part though is having a mouse so responsive and uses a technology so powerful that i was able to use it a couple of it away on any angle and any surface! i tested it on my carpet and even my shaved head and works perfectly. amazing! the scroll wheel needs to get used to at first but it was never an issue again after 2-3 hours of playing with it.

6 months and the dongle burned out!!!

To start out this mouse was great! I loved this mouse. It has great tracking and worked perfect. Until now the USB Dongle melted in the Computer. This was just horrible. Now like everybody else I'm now a proud owner of a Microsoft paper weight! I would only recommend this if you like paper weights or if you like to waste your hard earned dollars. Seriously this if junk. Buyer beware. I rate products on there reliability, and this product has none. At first you will hands down love this mouse than you will end up hating it because the USB dongle will overheat and melt a little bit enough to malfunction. This will make the mouse useless.

Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 V2 Good mouse if you work on PC for longer duration. Has a very comfortable grip, and you can rest your whole palm on it.Magnifying feature is pretty cool. The defualt magnifying window is about size of a credit card. Not sure if that window can be re-sized as there are no inststruction regarding it. s/w easy to install, wireless connectivity is good. Mouse has space at bottom where you can stick the USB adapter when not in use, so it wont get lost and also when USB adapter is attached to the mouse,it turns off the mouse thereby saving battery life. Overall a good product from Microsoft...:)

    Mouse Purchase

Overall the mouse is a good mouse. The slowest scroll wheel sensitivity is still too fast for my taste. It doesn't really matter on websites, but zooming in on weather radar or AutoCAD is very jumpy. Easy to install and easy to use. I would've went with the 5000 model but we have one of those at work and it has issues with reception on the wireless end. The 6000 comes with a nice USB adapter antenna instead of the bulky wired transmitter you get with the 5000. The price of the mouse is somewhat high in my opinion. The windowed zoom feature is pretty cool.

    Perfect mobile mouse!

Bought this mouse to go with new netbook (our first) as I don't much care for track pads. The small receiver can be left in the USB port. I have tried and failed to find a surface that will confuse this mouse. It works on wood grain, carpet, blue jeans, newspaper, cloth. I even tried it on my beard (not in public) and it tracked perfectly! Also, it is a nice size to fit the hand. Some mobile mice are just too small to be comfortable. Others have commented on short battery life and fried receivers. I guess only time will tell, but so far we love it.

Before I get this mouse, I thought only LogxxTec has nano receiving mouse. Therefore, i got one and it was not good. signal always drop. When I found out that MICROSOFT has mouse with nano receiver, give this model a try. The description said that this is a blue ray mouse. I do not know the difference before, NOW i know. U can basically use it ANYWAY. When i say ANYWAY, i mean even glasses, SEE THROUGH and the cursor on your laptop will still move perfectly. Great product for decent price, move smoothly and easy to carry around with laptops.

    Geat Portable Mouse

This mouse is a great addition to my new laptop. It is very comfortable in my hand. The Bluetrack is an amazing tracking system that will track on just about anything that isn't clear...but no mouse but a mouse with a ball will track on clear things. It tracks on a couch, my leg, wood, metal, anything! The price is steep for a mouse but you are getting what you pay for with the amazing 10 month battery life due to the blue led instead of a laser. The storage spot for the micro-transciever is genius and cool. Overall, a great, portable mouse.

This is an awesome mouse other than the fact that the USB dongle has burned out yet again. Microsoft has clearly designed this component poorly, as this is the second time it has happened to me and this does not seem to be uncommon. Each lasted about 9 months and then the device was unreadable to the computer. The dongles themselves heat up, I assume as a result of a short circuit. Not going to buy another replacement this time. Too bad, because I really liked everything about the mouse...

I love this mouse! I mentioned the position of my hand because your hand is slightly tilted making your first two fingers feel just a little bit like they are in new positions. You have to think before a left click the first couple of hours. But it literally stopped the ache and pinch of my Carpal Tunnel blooming into a huge situation. I already had surgery on that wrist once and I didn't want to have to go there again. This thing is fantastic! If you need ergo don't forgo!
