    Truly Awesome Mouse

I've had this mouse for quite a long time now and am very satisfied with it. There was no software installation. I simply plugged the wireless receiver into an available USB port, put a "AA" size battery in the mouse, and turned on the computer. The mouse started working just as Windows finished loading. It may be a little small for really large hands. In fact, it feels better than most I've had in the past (desktop or laptop). And the mouse fits into a side packet of a laptop case very nicely. As others have pointed out, the USB receiver fits into the bottom of the mouse when traveling. The buttons are shapped well, as are the rubber side grips. The two large buttons feel solid, but the center scroll button is a little noisy and doesn't feel as well made. But, that center button works as well as the other two. The wireless feature works flawlessly. In fact, if one had really good eyes, one could operate the computer from the other side of a room. Yes, I've actually tried that, with the mouse moving the cursor around the screen with no problems. I just read one of the other reviews where a lag was mentioned. I've seen nothing of this. In fact, after reading that review, I sat here moving the mouse slowly, quickly, tiny movements, short movements, long movements, and so on, with no noticeable lag. The cursor moves exactly as the mouse moves. The battery lasted through about 2.5 months of routine everyday use. I have since purchased a second mouse for my desktop computer, which is also working fine. The following is in response to issues raised by other reviewers. The mouse fits identically in either a left or right hand. To reverse the buttons, open the "Mouse" control panel and select "other pointing devices" in the drop-down menu listing your laptop's touchpad. The mouse is not sealed shut. The screws are located under the four black adhesive feet on the bottom of the mouse. Pry the feet off with a knife and stick them back on when finished. You do not have to disconnect the mouse each night. The mouse enters a battery saving mode when no movement is detected for some time, allowing batteries to last upwards of two to three months (depending on usage) with a continous connection. In other words, you really only need to disconnect the mouse when you want to move or store the computer. Those mentioning lags, delays, or choppy movement should check the "Mouse" control panel settings or for things interfering with USB devices. When setup and operating properly, there is no latency behavior whatsoever with this mouse. Movements are fine and precise. The only normal delay is in the split second when the mouse recovers from the battery saving mode after periods of inactivity.

    Example: Best Purchase Ever

When I purchased my Laptop last month, I ordered the Dynex® - Wireless Optical Laptop Mouse - Silver along with it. It was great, except for the battery life and the fact that it crapped out after a month of use! Ten seconds after I plugged the USB adapter in, the mouse would just stop working. I brought it back and exchanged it for the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 - Winter Blue for about $10 extra. I've been using this one for close to a week now, and I'm hooked! . One thing I did like about the Dynex one was that it had an on/off switch on the bottom, so you wouldn't have to remove the adapter every time you needed a bathroom break or shift locations. But then again, the battery life on 2 AAA batteries was less than 2 weeks. Also, the adapter on that mouse stored internally, and the mouse remained off as long as the adapter was stored (but this is more personal preference, really). But seeing as the Microsoft mouse has a much longer battery life, I don't think that's going to be a problem... . The Dynex mouse I had before was really small, but this one has a much better feel to it now, being larger and feeling more like it was made to fit my hand. . For one improvement on the previous model, I bring up the USB adapter again (Yes, I do find this feature to be an important one). My dad, when he purchased his laptop a year and a half ago, purchased an earlier model of this. With his USB adapter, it was an L shape that could rotate the _ (lower, that is) part of the L, and it had a tendency to fall loose while it is stored on the bottom, and the on/off trigger was positioned right where that part goes, so it is often left on. On this model, however, it's more a lower case "l" than capital, and it's a snug enough fit so that it hasn't yet come loose (and I doubt it will). This was the main reason I hesitated on buying the Microsoft mouse when I bought my laptop (that and the Dynex mouse was $10 cheaper)

Never thought I'd be so happy about a mouse!

I initially bought this mouse just to take on the road with my laptop, keeping it my laptop bag for travel. After about 1 minute of using it - i threw away my corded mouse and use the wireless one all the time. I do alot of work in photoshop & rely on my mouse a great deal. It is very light & sensitive to movement (which is a plus in Photoshop). A battery seems to last for 4-6 months in it & a little screen will pop up alerting you to change the battery. I wont use a wired mouse again. The wire created 'drag' & would sometime cause my movements to be less accurate. This mouse solved that problem for me. If you depend on your mouse more than your keyboard, wireless is the way to go! I wont EVER use anything exccept wireless from now on.

This mouse is wonderful! We own 3 of these, one for each laptop in the house. And I'm going to purchase another one for my desktop to eliminate the wire. I also purchased one of these for my wife's parents to use with the laptop they just bought. Instalation and use could not be easier. Battery life is AWESOME! The oldest one we own lasted a year and a half! The only downfall I've encountered is that when running Windows Vista, the screensaver will not activate while the mouse is connected. So it needs to be unplugged in order for the screensaver to activte. Two of our laptops are running XP, and the screensaver activates fine. Mouse is very responsive, and fits our hands perfectly. Great product for little money. You can catch it on sale for $19.99 at times.

    Has Problems

I may have a defective unit. The scroll wheel on this mouse does not respond well. It clicks when pushed to the right, but almost never to the left. The only response on the computer is when the wheel is clicked downward. So I assume (no instructions were included) that it is not supposed to push to the right or left, but there is a definite tendency to be pushed to the right. The USB stick is awkward and takes too much force to remove and replace it from its storage on the bottom of the mouse. If not pushed in hard enough, it is still powered up. When stored in the mouse, the mouse no longer sits flat on the table. I have a Logitech USB mouse for a laptop that I like a whole lot better (and cost about the same).

Great little mouse. Nice small size, fits my hand nicely and works smoothly. I like that the receiver fits on the bottom of the mouse for storage and to disengage the battery. It worked perfectly as soon as I plugged the receiver into the USB of my Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. When I went to open the packaging I noticed it said will work with Windows XP & Vista. Don't have any reservation if you have a newer computer with Windows 7. Also it was nice to get it in my favorite color blue. Was the last one on the shelf. So far it works great and only thing would have been better if it was on sale.

This little mouse is not only attractive, but the best fit for my hand and the most responsive mouse I have used in my many years of working on a pc. It adds soooo much functionality to my laptop and allows me to work quickly and efficiently. Its little USB key is not obstrusive in any way and I will buy this again if ever needed. LONG battery life - it goes and goes and so do I, and not only can it keep up with me, it doesn't beg for batteries often.

This mouse is great but there are some things that needs to be fixed. I thought that it being a Microsoft product it would be outstanding. I have have this mouse for about 7 months, I have changed the battery 2x's (that's good) but now my receiver doesnt work. Every now and then it will but right now is in the trash. My screensaver doesn't work with this mouse. Overall I would not buy this product again.

    Lots of connection problems

I had constant problems with the mouse connection. It worked most of the time, but every so often the connection would cut in and out, causing the pointer to be very jerky when I tried to move it. Only owned it for about two months before the mouse stopped responding altogether and had to order another one (a different brand of course). Maybe it's good mouse and I just got a bad one.

    Doesn't Work Half The Time

I bought this mouse for the size and the Microsoft name. If you get the mouse above the receiver it doesn't work. when it sits for a few minutes, without using it, it starts to work spurattically. I also noticed that after I started using this mouse my screen saver didn't come up all the time. I was very dissapointed because I thought Microsoft would have a better product.

    Excellent Laptop Mouse

Despite its Microsoft branding -- which some would say is a drawback in and of itself, this is a fine product. Lightweight, easy to use (plug 'n play) and reliable, this mouse also boasts long battery life. I've owned this mouse for seven months and use my laptop regularly ans still have not had to replace the AA batteries yet. Highly recommended.

Microsoft's basic wireless mouse just works. Why fix what ain't broken. I have one just like this that's over 10 years old and what I will say about this new one is batter life is improved as well as what surfaces it will work on. The old one was picky but this one doesn't seem to care. And it came bundled with my laptop, who doesn't like free!

Ive had this mouse since december 08, I use it everyday and so far I hadnt changed the batteries not even one time, this is really great because there are many wireless mices in the market which are really good but need new batteries every month. Range is also a great thing, its something like 3-4 feet without any impact on performance

This mouse works great, the price is amazing, and I love the small, but not too small design. Whats really nice about it, is that when you need to travel, the usb wiresless sensor stores directly inside the mouse. Overall this product is great. Cheap price and very comfortable to hold and use.

    Good Portable Mouse

This is a really good wireless mouse. I've never had an issue with the mouse. I've had it for over 2 years and I think I replace the battery once every 8-12 months. It is very compact so its easy to throw into a bag with your laptop. One draw back is that its a little small which makes gripping awkward.

This is an all-around great notebook mouse, it easily fits into the pocket of my laptop case--it's not big and bulging like other mice can be. I also love that it last forever on just one double-A battery. To me, it works just as well as one double in price!

I would buy this again. It is a good mouse. The only problem I have with it is that the mouse wheel is not very smooth so sometimes you actually click the wheel when you just mean to scroll. But otherwise I like it alot and would probably buy another one.

I have this product in red and love it! It's compact and fits well in my laptop bag. Additionally, the battery life has been great so far...I've had it for 2 months and have not had to replace the battery. The mouse works well with my computer (Dell).

I like how this mouse isn't huge and bulky. It worked well for me before it stopped working even when I changed the batteries. I really liked the blue color and it did work for me for about a year. This mouse has a good connection too.

After a week of trying to use the touch pad mouse on my new laptop, I purchased one of these, and I'm very happy I did. Very easy to setup and use, and the USB receiver easily snaps into the bottom of the mouse when not in use.
