    awesome wireless mouse

I just got this today, but so far, I'm really impressed with this mouse. It's an excellent replacement for the tiny (now broken, so I brought it to Best Buy to be recycled) HP mouse that I got when I bought my laptop. I was considering Microsoft's Wireless Mouse 6000 (it was on sale for less than this one at the time), but there were a good number of reviews that complained of the receiver frying easily, so I steered clear of that mouse and got the 5000 instead. The main reason I got this mouse over another one was the side buttons - there are 2 for going forward and back by default, but all the mouse buttons are programmable for a myriad of functions via the IntelliPoint software included with the mouse. The only one I changed was for the scroll wheel button to activate the Flip 3D function in Windows 7, which is much nicer than the standard Flip feature. You can even program buttons to do specific things based on the program running, but I don't need that. I expect battery life to be excellent, partially because when I put 1 of the 2 included AA's into the mouse, it turned on immediately and I was able to use it without any problems. In order to shut off the mouse, you need to put the USB receiver into the slot on the bottom. It does stick out a little, but that's OK with me. There are also some reviews floating around complaining that the battery indicator turns off shortly after turning on the mouse - this is perfectly normal behavior for the mouse (even though it would be better if it stayed on whenever the mouse was on). This is a BlueTrack mouse, so as per Microsoft's claims and other people's reviews it tracks much better than any other mouse I've used. I don't need a mouse pad anymore, and it really does track well over many surfaces (except glass of course). Range is equally impressive; it claims a range of 30ft, but so far I've only been able to test it to about 15ft. Even at that range, there's no signal degradation; it works just the same at 15ft as it does at right next to the receiver. This mouse fits into my hand like a glove, very comfortable to use. The buttons and wheel are all well placed and aren't under or over sensitive (including the tilt function of the wheel). Overall size of the mouse is perfect, and my hands aren't all that big either. The only thing that some people might not like is the scroll wheel. It doesn't click into place when it moves, it just rolls smoothly. Personally, I like this better than a scroll wheel that clicks, but that's just me.

    Nearly indestructable, bluetrack technology

This mouse is amazing. I have had it for 5 months now and it's still using the same batteries that came with it, even more amazing is that I've never turned it off by docking the receiver. The bluetrack technology works great, I've used it on my carpet and it never missed a beat. But by far the best thing about this mouse is that it's nearly indestructible. I'm bipolar so I have put it through more punishment than most people ever will. On several occasions I have picked it up and slammed it back down due to getting frustrated at a game. Just today I spilled a whole glass of milk on it and it still works like a champ. I would definitely recommend this mouse, it just never gives up.

    Blast you magnifier!!

This is a great little mouse. Installation was easy and I never even had to do the link up button. It feels very precise and accurate as I move around the screen. The buttons are very high quality. The driver is also customization software that lets you assign how you want the mouse buttons to work. The mouse is comfortable in the hand even for all day use. I've found the fifth button on the right side is in a very bad place for me. I thought the magnification function for this button was pretty cool, but I kept hitting it accidentally while gaming or other times when it was a pain in the neck so I had to disable it finally using the software.

Great product, but a little expensive

This mouse is very nice to use and the movement and response are very accurate. I purchased this for my mother mainly for the magnifier feature. It has 2 additional buttons that can be customized to do a number of different things. One thing I didn't care for about the extra buttons is that one is located on each side. I'm assuming this is so it can easily be used by a right of left handed person. While this is nice, I found myself hitting the button accidentally with my ring finger and pinky. Overall its a nice mouse and I would reccoment it.

Good Mouse, but the Battery isn't great

The mouse is really good overall. The only thing that I am not stoked about is the battery life. If you do not turn off the mouse when you are done using it you can expect the battery to last about 2-3 months, compared to my rocketfish and Logitech mice which last 6-8 months on one battery. It isn't that big of a deal but when your battery dies in the middle of something it is annoying. There also isn't an indicator from what I can see to let you know to replace the battery. Other than the battery it is a great mouse though.

    Nice mouse...but hate the "click"

Got this mouse as a package deal with MS 5000 keyboard. Love the keyboard (ergo, feel, very quiet keys), but not a fan of this mouse. It's fine sensitivity wise and all that, but the main left/right buttons are a deal breaker for me. They are very loud (ie clicky), and feel like you have to really mash on them to get any response. Not a fan. Much happier with the corded Dell mouse that came with system I use...too bad... Will probably go back to Logitech next time I look at wireless options...at least mouse wise.

Buy it if you love frustration

I finally got so frustrated with this thing that I threw it across the room. It constantly loses connectivity with the receiver. The little "connect" button on the bottom of the mouse is useless, I've never had it connect once after I hit the button. I would have to unplug the receiver from the back of the computer every time to reset it. Well, today that quit working. I've had enough, give me the wired mouse that came with the computer. Biggest waste of $40 ever.

    A Really Good Mouse

I bought the Microsoft wireless mouse 3000 when I bought my laptop and it works great and is still working.I bought this one as its a bit bigger and fits in my hand perfectly. I sit in my chair in the livingroom and the mouse is on the arm. This mouse will work anywhere I want it to. The wheel is nice and quiet, the mouse is well made and I trust Microsoft products as not one of them has ever failed me. This 5000 model is well worth buying.

Overall this is a very nice mouse. Not too many buttons, yet enough to make it very conveinent for everyday use. I use the "back" button all the time when surfing the web. Battery life lasts a long time. Buttons also have a nice solid "click" unlike some mice that is hard to tell if it clicked or not. Everyone has their own opinion on what feels most comfortable, but overall I think this mouse has a very natural feel to it.

i really enjoy this wireless mouse. it's such a huge upgrade from something with wires. granted you will have to plug in the wireless base piece, but that can easily be hidden away. it has good range that i haven't tested so much since the mouse will work out of view of my monitor. the feel, movement, and everything about this mouse is very good. recommended.

Very good mouse, the usb dongle is so small they made it so that it can clip onto the bottom of the mouse and its flush with the bottom (for travel). It has more gloss than the picture shows but it looks good. Its $39.99 in store so if you are getting one just tell the cashier its $35.99 online and they will honor that price.

I just purchased this mouse recently for my new laptop, since I can't stand using the laptop touchpads all the time. It has been great for me, I use it all the time. One of the biggest reasons I picked it up was due to the long-lasting battery life that everyone talks about, so far, so good!

I've had this mouse for more than 3 years and it works GREAT. The only thing is that the scroller doesn't work anymore. But maybe its my new Mac. I'd definitely buy this again. But the optical laser can't be on anything reflective or else it doesn't read.

The only reason you have to let go of this mouse is to type. You can program it to do so many different functions. I love the fact that the roller is also clickable and have programmed it to be the "back" button for internet pages...VERY handy!

    Waste of money

This is the worse wireless mouse I have ever used. It will freeze right in the middle of doing something and it stays frozen for at least 15-20 seconds. Dont waste your money on this thing. It's not even heavy enough for a paper weight.

This product is great, I use rechargeable battery for this unit. I change them once every other month. I have had this unit for almost a year. Yes every other month and I'm a heavy computer user. It's used everyday to the fullest.

I like this mouse. For $36 some dollars it plain works. I have had some cheap wireless mouse that actually came with a keyboard that wasn't worth buying. For a everyday use mouse this is a great buy.

Love the concept, especially returning to previously view page with one click of the mouse. Bluetooth usage leaves free USB port. Feels good in your hand for control.

I bought this to use on my coffee table sort of as a remote for the computer when watching recordings from the computer being shown on my TV. It's working great so far.
