A review from someone who actually owns the bundle

I picked this bundle up yesterday along with my Legendary Edition of Halo: Reach. I was looking at upgrading to a new Xbox 360 console so that I could move my 4 year old Elite Xbox 360 to my bedroom. Given this release, I decided to hold out and now buy the newly redesigned 240GB model and went with this one. All-in-all, it is actually a nice package. The Halo sound effects are a little different than the standard Xbox 360 sounds but it is nothing to write home about. Instead, the main aspect regarding this bundle is that the console is a new color, has some graphics on it, and comes with two matching white-silver wireless controllers that match the console. It definitely isn't a bad bundle though it is a little pricey. When compared to the standard $299 Xbox 360 model, there really aren't any benefits that this one has over it. Sure, the console is a new color (it is funny how MS has come full circle by releasing a white Xbox 360 again), has some graphics on it, and a few other things but it is essentially the same. The new Xbox 360 S models do not perform any better than older consoles, the processor cores are clocked at the same speed and the same GPU is used across all models. The main difference is that the S consoles perform a lot quieter than previous Xbox 360's. The S models really are whisper quiet. The only negative aspect is that they actually produce more heat than the non-S consoles. My older Elite has an all around warmer temperature and it is definitely not as quiet but the air coming out of the S consoles feels more like exhaust fumes. My only complaint about this bundle is that the included game is just the standard edition copy. Yes, there is a lot of value in this $400 bundle but I feel that an extra incentive would have been to include the limited edition (not legendary) of Halo: Reach. I think that this is the best bundle for new Xbox 360 gamers. The console has extra USB ports, a dedicated Kinect port, built-in wi-fi, a larger hard drive, and a few other aspects. However, I don't think it is as good of a value for people who already have a functioning Xbox 360. The game still look the same and play the same on older and newer consoles. As for Halo: Reach, I have only put in a few hours with the Firefight mode so I can't really comment on the game itself until I go through the campaign and put in some more time with online multiplayer. I can make a few comments though. The graphical engine has been updated so that Reach looks like a next generation game (not that Halo 3 didn't). The graphics still aren't as good as other games but Halo has never really been a graphically demanding series. The sound design is excellent though. There is a nice balance between screaming enemies, the score, and you actually feel like your weapon is being fired as it sounds great. There are a few missing aspects from previously released titles, one of the big changes was that you can no longer dual wield weapons. It is a shame but there are other armor related enhances, such as having a jet pack for a brief amount of time, that I couldn't imagine not using. It felt a little strange at first using a jet pack in a Halo game but now I don't think I could play without it. The Firefight mode, first introduced in Halo 3: ODST, feels like it has been perfected giving the user full control over the matches they create. A nice feature is that you can also make and share different game modes with the online community. All-in-all, I can fully recommend this bundle for anyone who doesn't already have an Xbox 360 console as it offers you what will likely be one of this year's best games, a whisper quiet Xbox 360 that has been customized, two controllers, and some nice bonus content (a couple of episodes from the Halo: Legends animated feature, they aren't that great but they aren't half bad either). I gave it 4 out of 5 stars simply because I think that people who already have a working Xbox 360 should just stick with their consoles and buy the Legendary Edition of Halo: Reach. After all, this is supposedly the last Bungie developed Halo game so I think it is worth paying the extra money to get a $150 version of their send off to fans.

The Best Value for Xbox 360 new-comers

I am a ridiculous Halo fan, so take the Halo-related parts with a grain of salt. I love this item more than any other console I have ever purchased. The slick design is what caught me. It has the slim design of the new xbox 360, with a unique color scheme and startup noises. The start-up noises are a bit quiet, however. For those of you who are Halo fans out there, the noises are pretty cool though. It makes the "active camo" noise when you turn the system on, and it makes the "shields-recharging" noise when opening the disc tray. The noises do not replace the standard noise that comes out of the TV because it is an internal speaker on the system itself that makes the noises, but still a neat touch! It comes with two controllers (batteries included) and the standard edition of "Halo: Reach". Which, in my opinion, is the best halo to date. Even better than the old-school "Halo: Combat Evolved" from 2001. The fact that it comes with 2 controllers is awesome because the game has a so-op mode which is great for two-players. It also comes with 3 small arcade games installed on the hard drive which is nice. Speaking of the hard drive, with a 250GB hard drive you will most likely never be hassled by space-restrictions of your HD, which is a nice bonus. The system also has a built-in wireless-N adaptor for high-speed wireless xbox live playability. All in all, this system is a great purchase, even for people who are not huge into halo. You get 2 controllers that match your system, a free built-in wireless-N adaptor (normally $100 seperate), and a slick design with limited-edition colors that will be around for a VERY short time. Needless to say, I highly recommend this product because I LOVE mine. The only down-side to this package is that it does NOT come with the data-transfer cable necessary for transferring data from your old Xbox 360 (for those of you upgrading). The cable costs $20 and is attached to this review. It also does not come with rechargeable batteries/charger for the controllers for the system. I personally bought a nyko charge station that INCLUDED two rechargable batteries that works AMAZINGLY for only $30. I have attached that to the review as well. The only addition thing that it does not come with is an HDMI cord. It comes with the regular composite video/audio cords, but those totally blow for HD tv's. The system does, however, use the old xbox 360 component cables. So if you are upgrading to the new xbox, you can just use your previous component cables, but the HDMI cord does make it easier and less messy behind your tv by having only one cord to deal with back there and I have attached a cheap one the review for those of you who are interested. Hopefully this review was helpful! Please comment and let me know if it wasn't and I will address any furuther questions!

One of the better Xbox Bundles you can get

    Modus0perandi

I'm an avid XBox user, so probably a little biased. I had an XBox 360 with a 60GB hard drive, but the machine died on me a couple times (had it since 06) . Was looking to upgrade the hard drive, but thought I might as well get one of the new slim models, and get the added benefits. So let's get to standard review fare here: As far as the system: Pros: -Built in Wi-fi: the adapter they sell separately for the old model system runs about $90 typically. -Custom finish: the Halo themed finish on the Xbox looks very good. -Extra Controller included: I guess what makes this $100 more is that it includes Halo: Reach and the extra controller. Now if you need an extra controller, then this is a good deal (an extra controller costs about $50 usually, and Reach costs $60) -This bundle works well if you looking to pick up the game and a controller and a new system, though if you've already got an Xbox 360, then it may not be worth it.f For me personally in my situation, it was. Cons: -The biggest gripe I have about this bundle is that the controllers included are not the Play and Charge kind, meaning you have to use 2 AA batteries for each (the first set is included for each controller). If you want to get a play and charge kit, then that costs about $20 separately BUT the play and charge battery packs are typically Black, which won't match the rest of the custom themed controller. Just a small gripe, but it could be a big one if you are buying this because of the custom Halo finish. Overall I think XBox is a great system, there are advantages to others such as the PS3, but I think the XBox is superior when it comes to online content with the XBox Live service. Definitely would recommend to any friend trying to decide between PS3 and Xbox, that the XBox is the best way to go. As far as the included game Halo: Reach. Reach is a great game, if you liked the previous Halo games. If you didn't like the previous Halo games, then this game isn't going to change your mind about it. If you don't have any experience with them, then the game can be quite enjoyable, but its a prequel, so to speak, to the Halo series, so some of the neat story elements might be lost on newcomers. Pros: -Great story if you've followed the previous Halo games. -Multiplayer is fantastic, you have so many options of kinds of games you want to play whether Competitive (ranked or unranked) ,Co-op Firefight (you and some players vs. wave after wave of Covenant), and Co-op matchmaking (you can play through the Campaign with friends or with randoms). -The level of online support from Bungie. Bungie really takes the time to look at their playlists for multi-player and find out whats working and whats not. They have made several changes to playlists already to make them play better and added features such as Co-op Matchmaking. hopefully they will continue to support this title in the future (if history is any judge, they will at least for a couple years.) Cons: -if you don't like Halo, this game will do little for you. Its very much like every other Halo game that has come along, with some new gameplay tweaks, not necessarily a bad thing if you like Halo, but if you don't, you've been warned. -Online portion not safe for younger players: Online games, and Halo is especially notorious for this, have a tendency to draw a lot of real loud mouthed morons who like to use any racial slur and swear they can think of. The game is rated Mature, so Mature audiences should be the ones playing it, but I do know kids can get their hands on this game when they want to. Just use judgment as a parent, if you are considering what to let them play. Rule of thumb: If you wouldn't let your kids watch the movie Scarface(or any other R-rated film for violence and cursing), then you shouldn't let them play online either. The single player portion is not that bad for younger audiences, tamer than some PG-13 I'd say. It does deal with a lot of death, and it's a bunch of space marines killing aliens, so if you're okay with that, there's not much in the single player portion to warrant a M rating.

After owning 3 360's prior to this one. I can honestly say i am impressed with Microsoft this time around. The new slims are great looking, quiet as ever, and provide more storage. I would say a new 360 is worth getting for the quiet factor alone. Add in the fact that this one has a nice Halo theme to it and comes with 2 controllers that match, along with the Halo: Reach game and you got yourself a very good buy. Did I mention built in Wireless N? I only have 3 minor problems with it. First off, I feel the wireless headset should have came with this package. It just completes it for me. You have this great looking 360, an amazing game, and then you get the stock headset which works, but it's nothing special. The wireless headsets are louder, clearer, and fit very comfortably on your ear. It could have made the value of this bundle go through the roof. Secondly, I have a slight issue with the disk tray button. I like the sleekness of just making it a motion sensitive spot instead of an actual button, but it is very easy to brush against it and open the cd tray. Giving it is not nearly big enough of an issue to lower the overall rating. You shouldn't really be that close to the 360 anyway unless you are shutting off, or taking the disc out. Which btw both of those actions will make special noises if you use the actual buttons on the 360 instead of the controller. << Little perk. Lastly, I wish the Halo:Reach Limited edition would have been included. If I am buying a Halo themed 360, why would I want a regular game? I am still happy with the bundle as a whole, but I didn't see the sense in giving Halo fans a regular game copy with a limited edition 360. Overall, great buy and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new 360 slim and the reach game.

    Great System

The new xbox 360 is a great system, and the Halo: Reach customization is a great excuse to go out and upgrade. What I absolutely love about it, is it is definitely smaller, amazingly quieter, and more USB ports (great for rock band). Also the fact that it has an internal 250, yes two-hundred and fifty GB internal and removable hard drive, and built in wireless capabilities. Oh and don't forget the cool design on it, as well as custom sounds for when you power up the console or open the disk tray. I was real pleased that they included 2 wireless controllers with the console, great design on those as well, only thing that could have made them better was to upgrade them to the new D-pad microsoft is releasing. With a great system, comes a few downfalls though. 1. NO HD CABLES INCLUDED, I opened up the box, and began to set up my system, and to my big surprise, it only came with Standard Definition cabes (I was seriously like WTF, this isnt right) Luckily I still had to trade in my old hard drive after i transfered everything, so I went off and sold it for some HD cables 2. I would have really have liked for it to come with the limited edition form of Halo: Reach, I mean cmon, complete the set Bungie. 3. Price can be up there for people who just want an upgrade, but hey thats up to you to decide how much you're willing to spend. 4. Power button and Disk Tray buttons are over sensitive. In this 360 model, these buttons arent really buttons, but more of sensors, so that if you put your finger close to them, they go off (although they do make cool Halo noises in this model. 5. Headseat was really flimsy. Personally my favorite Microsoft headset was the origional Xbox 360 headset, the one with the wide connector that had the mute button right there at the controller. This headset is even flimsier and cheaper than the one that I got with my chatpad a while ago, and feels like it will break very easily, although I'd reccomend getting a Turtle Beach headest, because I love mine. This may seem like a long list of negatives, but the eqicness of the system more than makes up for these, and the fact that these are easily fixed doesnt hurt.

I got this Halo bundle last week because my husband and I got tired of fighting over the xbox- and playing halo half-screen just ruins the experience. So I bought this and straight out of the box it was fantastic! This xbox really looks amazing as do the controllers that come with it. Everything worked perfectly and the set up was really easy to do. I do, however, have a few complaints which has nothing to do with the functionality of the product, but the value of the sale. For 400 bucks, all that was included was a standard definition cable. I mean seriously, they couldn't throw in an HDMI or at least a component cable? I was a little perturbed about that. My other complaint is that it only came with the regular version of Halo. I realize that as far as gameplay it's the same, however, why would I buy the console unless I was a huge fan. I would have liked to have the stuff that comes with the special addition. However, I do realize that this kind of addition would cost more to include. I'm okay with it not being in there, but it would have been nice to at least have the option. I love that the buttons are touch sensitive and they make really cool Halo noises. I also love the color and the design of this xbox. My husband has a black xbox elite and it's really nice too, but I'm a little bit partial to my Halo Reach Xbox. The controllers are beautiful and they work perfectly. If you want to make the whole set up even better, I recommend getting the Halo Reach wireless headset. It's another 50 bucks, and I realize that's a bit of money, but trust me, it is WELL worth it. The quality of the headset is amazing and you'll be glad you did it!

Alright to start things off this system is looking great out of the box, but shortly after start up it froze up on me. The problem seems to be that when it is up right (vertically placed) that the fans don't work right. Maybe not enough ventilation or something. But after letting it sit i put it flat down and moved a box fan near it just to be safe. Now it works fine. I have installed halo so it loads faster, which is great, and the hard drive is so nice compared to my 20 gig (yea the original Xbox which finally got rrod). The headset is not so great, you would think they would throw in the wireless reach one but they didn't. But i don't really find it a big flaw. I also wish they would have included a limited edition (not the crate) copy seeing as this is the last joint halo game for Bungie and Microsoft. Also the fact that they didn't throw in some hdmi cables was disappointing. I think over all this package is great, the controllers feel really good and there matching. The console art looks really fantastic, and the game, well its amazing. I have not tried the wireless for the console because my router is right next to my Xbox and Ive always preferred a weird connection. Its been about a week and it hasn't froze on me or anything. The ventilation seemed really hot but it feels like it has cooled down after i moved it to a more open air spot. And as for the power brick its still big but not as heavy and large. I also love all the usb ports and dedicated kinetic port. Some say the graphics are supposed to look better on this but there the same (and they look great on my Sony 1080i). I think if your just looking for an Xbox i would go with the 100 dollar cheaper version, But if u want reach and u don't have an Xbox this is a great deal. (also the power button and disc tray are more of sensors than buttons, this is fine with me and they include noises, i think its the shield charging noise or something like that.) and one more note u will need a transfer cable if u have an old Xbox and want your stuff on here because the hard drive is internal.

Well first of all, what isn't good about this? It is a Halo: Reach customized 360 system and comes with 2 customized controllers. A black headset is included so you can connect with your friends online or just tick off other online players! You get 1 month free, xbox live membership! And best of all, the most anticipated game of the year, Halo: Reach is included! There is a total of $20.00 savings if you buy this bundle which isn't a super awesome deal but it's better than buying everything individually! Especially since you will probably want to buy all this stuff anyway! This generation of Xbox 360 has awesome graphics, great performance and functionality, and great price value considering the $20.00 savings. That's better than nothing! Buy this xbox 360 bundle! It's a great deal!

Everything about this xbox and what it comes with is amazing. It is a great deal when you think about it. I have seen a lot of reviews saying that it is overpriced. But the next best xbox is only 100$ cheaper. Getting this one, you get the halo reach graphics on this new slim xbox and the TWO custom controllers that come with it. Along with the halo reach game itself. Also within the box, you recieve 3 bonus cards for xbox live with many unlockable features. Also with the new slim xbox, it is very very quiet. And turning the xbox on along with opening the disctray is like a touch screen, very nice. I also like the controllers that came with it because they have a differen't feel and awesome look to them, along with a cool design. I am a little upset they did not include a wireless headset with everything else though. Other than that, the new Halo Reach Xbox is amazing along with its new features and items.

This is a very good bundle. If you think about it the normal 250gb xbox 360 is 299.99 but with this you get an extra controller, a black headset and halo reach for only a hundred bucks more. A headset is $20, the controller is $60 and so is halo reach. That adds up to $140 but you get it for $100 more so pretty good if you ask me. Plus you get the custom artwork on the controller and xbox. Overall if you don't have an xbox 360 and are looking to get one this should definitely be your pick. You get one of the greatest games of all time and a headset and an additional controller. Buy this!

This is a must have for any Halo fan the Gray color is different and cool the preloaded sounds when you power up and down the Xbox360 and ejected a disc are cool, the HUGE 250GB hard drive has tons of room for whatever you like. What I have to say that I don’t really like about this new Xbox 360 and not only the Halo Reach Edition is that the eject and power buttons are not buttons at all there touch sensors that are WAY WAY to touchy not so much the power button because the power button is set in a little but the eject button is right out is the open and the smallest touch opens the tray and if you’re in a game or movie you guessed it, it’s over. I would recommend this to a friend if you looking for a great game and console that comes with 2 controllers then this is for you but if you don’t need the extras the a New Xbox 360 slim is just as good but no cool sounds.

The best xbox deal to date. When the elite xbox first came out 4 yrs ago it was priced at 499.99. It came with the black xbox, a black 120 gb hdrive, a black wireless controller, and a wired headset. Fast forward to 2010 this limited edition package comes with the new slim xbox (w/ none of the old quality issues, -> ex. rrod), a 250 gb hdrive, two wireless controllers, a wired headset, and the latest installment of Halo--> Halo Reach. And the entire system including controllers comes in a limited run silver with halo reach inspired graphics, ALL for the low price of $399.99. Whether its the silver paint job, two controllers, or the entertaining Halo Reach that does it for you, this combo pack is worth it!

    A Great Combo Pack

    thaDANIMAL

What a great combo pack. I have been jamming this for the last two months and still can't get enough. First off it is much better to spend the extra $100 for the 250gb model. You don't want to start erasing things as soon as a new download comes out. Second, the internal connectability to the internet was a must. Make sure that the wireless router or modem is in a decent proimity to your XBOX. I have had a connectivity issue here and there but that is because my modem is clear across the house. The game is also super sweet. Playability is at a new high, and playing on an HDTV really brings out the strengths of this gaming system. It was a toss up between this and kinect, but I am glad I got this. The kinect will be my first upgrade. Go get you one! I'll see you on the battlefield.

Runs about 8 hours a day, without issue.. We have four XBox's, this being the first with 250GB HD. Transferring data was fairly simple. (Other than the licensing part, which appeared to only be a problem because Microsofts site was having issues.. Easily fixed with a call to tech support. Other than that, ... I'd like to see the prices start coming down on the 360's. (For as long as they've been out, ... most competitors would already have lowered the prices far more than Microsoft has. Instead, they just keep changing things, coming out with new mainboards to replace mainboards that had problems, etc... (Which I'm sure costs more money in R&D, etc...) It'd be easier if they'd just have made a board that didn't suck to start with. :)

Easy set up, Internet connection, and game play. My only problem was after the set up when trying to extend the LIVE subscription. BE AWARE that after your initial set up you can't change your region. My son was probably in a hurry to get the console set up, so he could start playing. He either accidentally, or it defaulted, to the UK as his region. We are in the US. We were told by XBOX, that the only way to change your region was to set up a new account. My son did not want to do that. We ended up having to purchase a World Wide card on line that works for the subscription but not for points. Then to get that card to work, we had to enter a bogus postal code from the UK. So, my advice is to take a little extra time during set up and get it right.

Overall I believe that this is a great deal. I had previously owned a standard 10 GB 1st Gen Xbox360, and had run of space fairly quickly. I actually compared buying a larger hard-drive vs a new 360 entirely, but when this bundle came out i believe it was an overall better deal. 2 controllers, headset, and a 250 GB hard-drive w/ internal wireless adapter. that alone should have been worth 400$; when my brother purchased his elite, he only received one controller for the same price, and no game/internal adapter at all. I think if you're looking to purchase a new system, this would give you the biggest bang for your buck. And if you're into some unique things, the design of the 360 couldn't be better.

I really love how they packaged this together except you have to by the matching wireless headset separate. You do save around thirty dollars and if you count the gift card thats fifty dollars of savings which would buy the Halo headset. I find this is a better deal than some other retailers that are only offering special armor for your Spartan and very slim to none chance of winning a life size halo guy. I would rather have the matching none annoying wireless headset for free :) Also you could buy the Halo Reach Legendary addition and sell the game that comes with it for extra cash.

The Good - If you are in the market for an xbox and an awesome game then this is the bundle for you! You get the console, xbox live headset, 2 controllers, and Halo Reach for $400. Retail this would all cost at least $480, so it is a great value if this kind of bundle is what you are looking for. The Bad - No HDMI cable or component cable included. Come on Microsoft please don't turn into Sony now! The Perplexing - Why not ship these special edition controllers with rechargeable batteries? It seems odd to me to have this great package full of top-o-the line technology and to still ship it with AA batteries. It kind of makes you feel like the kid that ALMOST got what he wanted for Christmas but it just wasn't quite right.

This limited edition bundle includes a cool silver Xbox 360 S with TWO silver wireless controllers and one black headset. Plus, you get the Halo Reach game and one month Xbox Live. That's a pretty good deal even though this means I will have the game twice since I'm also getting the 'Legendary Edition". It would have been nice if Microsoft had thrown in an even larger HDD - 500GB sounds more like it with all the content you put on there.

Not only does it have the great features that the new Xbox 360 Slims have (Both performance-wise and visual appeal), but it also comes with custom sounds every time you touch the power and eject buttons. It's Limited Edition Halo: Reach themed body makes the system look cool along with the looks of an Alienware computer. The two wireless controllers also come with their own custom Halo: Reach theme. It also comes with the new edition to the Halo franchise, Halo: Reach. The Halo: Reach Wireless Headset should have come with the system but I'm fine with the normal black headset. Its price is great for everything that comes with the system. You won't regret purchasing this.
