Best 360 design yet, except for one thing...

I'm hoping people who buy this realize how useless 4GB is. Don't get me wrong, the console is great, and the redesign looks stylish and is the quietest, lowest-power-consuming Xbox 360 yet. But I bought one of these along with a 320GB hard drive. The 4GB comes from the factory filled with some bloatware (arcade game trials) and the full version of the Hexic arcade game. But even if you delete all of this, you are left with FAR less than 4GB. That's not even enough to download a single full retail game; not even close. If you want to take advantage of the free Games for Gold (if you have a Gold subscription), good luck downloading any of those games. If you want to use the cloud game saves feature, well that takes up half a gigabyte to activate too. Even if you download nothing, some games download fairly large updates just to be playable at all. Your 4GB will easily be eaten up by any of these things. Unless you plan on buying this console only for non-gaming purposes, like using the Amazon/Netflix/Hulu/etc apps, or only playing very small Xbox Live Arcade games, you NEED to buy a hard drive with this. Or just buy the one that includes the hard drive. But for me, 250GB wasn't enough on my Xbox 360 S, so I bought this 4GB along with the 320GB hard drive. Now, other than the hard drive space, here's what I think about this compared to the previous Xbox 360 designs. - The power brick is the same size as the S, but smaller than the original - The power brick is not interchangeable with any other 360 designs, since the connector on the 360 is a small round one instead of the fairly large ones from the past - No optical out. This would have been a problem for me until I upgraded my AV receiver, which has all the HDMI switching capabilities I need. If you don't have that, but do have surround sound capabilities via optical out, be aware. - One less USB port than the 360 S. One more USB port than the original 360. Not a problem for many, but I think you can't have too many USB ports, and would have stronly preferred they didn't remove one of them. - Eject and power button are not touch-sensitive. You have to actually push the buttons in (I prefer this). Now the only serious thing I'm actually a little disappointed in compared to my launch 360 and 360 S (yes, I've purchased three 360s...), is something I haven't really heard anybody else mention yet. The green ring around the power button is either on, or off. You can't see what player(s) are connected by looking at the ring quadrants. Interestingly enough, my Xbox One is the same way, but also with the controllers. I really liked having a way to see what players have their controllers connected. Not sure why they cut this feature. But the important thing is this final design of the 360 is solid, reliable, silent, and will not overheat on you like the original version. A very good redesign, especially when it is in close proximity to an Xbox One, since the designs complement each other well. BUT 4GB IS NOT ENOUGH! Hope I was clear on that. :)

I was on the fence on whether to wait for Xbox One or go ahead with the Xbox 360. I decided with the help of my kids to go ahead with the 360. We all know that first runs of new designs at Microsoft can be hard, and filled with updates to correct things not found in the QA cycles. The Xbox 360 has been a hit at the house. We have found the smart glass app to be great; controlling from Surface Tablet and my Windows 8 phone. This device has a lot to offer many different audience groups. Kids (Games and Shows), Adults (movies, TV Series, Games). This device for some (including my family) might remove Cable TV from the house. If you desire Ala Carte Options for viewing TV and Movies this device gives you those choices. Now its not free, but price points compared it may be very comparable to Cable / Sat TV prices but you are getting the content you want (I image some could get the Xbox entertainment price point lower than their monthly cable when spread over the year of paying). All in all very happy with the Xbox 360, maybe next XMAS the Xbox One will be on the list, but for now we will enjoy the proven tech of 360. If you get the 4gb Xbox pick up the Hard drive they sell exclusively for Xbox. All games require storage and the 4gb should be left for the OS and other things. The install of the extra hard drive is so easy I think just about anyone can do it. So don't let installation scare you. 5 mins or less.

overall i love my xbox 360. i love the addition of actuall buttons on the new designed version. makes it alot less likely to have the tray open when you dont want it to. Still wwhat im confused about is why did microsoft attempt to get rid of the red ring of death. I HAVE TO USE A FAN SO IT DOES NOT OVERHEAT!!!! i've gotten the read ring of death, 5 times now. lucky for me mine is not completely broken yet. It makes me so sad that they could not attempt to make it so they xbox does not overheat. The controller is ok, i like it better than the play station remote. my remote makes sounds alot when i press the buttons and move the joysticks. Also it just vibrates at random times. the battery can get in the way sometimes though. Overall in game content it is very good, but when it comes to hardware its so much more poor. i understand its been out for years now but they could update it just the tinyiest bit. I love playing with friends although the xbox has a horrible connection to my super fast internet. Buy it if you can deal with problems sometimes.

Great platform, disappointed that no "hard drive"

I received this as a Christmas Gift. My wife and daughter bought it for me as well as another one, plus the Kinect, for my granddaughter. The specification page says "Hard Drive Capacity 4GB." That is not true. It has no hard drive, but rather 4gb of "memory". These are two different things. The drive bays in both machines were empty. That means that you can play games locally but cannot save your game info, log on to XBox Live, play games with other people on-line and much more. You have to buy an additional "storage" unit before you can even download the required updates. I've played PC games for almost 30 years and this is my first game console. Being a noob not having that hard drive made initial setup a huge headache, but the price seems reasonable and added storage isn't incredibly expensive but best to get it when you buy your box.

Me and my family have preferred the Xbox 360 since it first came out. At first I thought this was the same as the larger model but there were several minor differences. First off the internet connector is built in so no extra equipment to handle however the old controllers do not automatically find and connect to the new Xbox 360, requiring the usb connector/charger cables. The final complaint is with the extra hard drive space. The internal hard disk drive dose not remain formatted and the extra hard disk drive space can not use the old model with out some questionable manipulation of the equipment but there are smaller hard drives that go inside the smaller model.

I finally upgraded to this to do dance when my dancedance pad for the old xbox wasn't working well. I sort of miss the dancedance pad (haven't looked to see is xbox 360 has one) but the two dance packages I got are challenging and fun. The xbox itself surprised me when I found that the games I'm doing with the xbox show up on my new pc as 'achievements' records. I don't do the part where I share with friends as I really don't know anyone in my circle who uses one. I'm also enjoying the Adventures games that came with it, great workouts and challenges for quick reactions. Not too hard for a 67 year old but not too easy, either. I like the challenge, good workouts.

I bought this Xbox when my last one ( a older model ) broke on me This one is smaller but so much better with its built in WIFI and cool sleek design. it is also easier to connect to the Kinect. The Graphics are awesome, the game selection is great , the Online game is the best of all video game consoles ( that includes PlayStation ). And what I really love is the ability to do other things like watch my HULU, and Netflix over my Xbox, I was even able to watch a Espn college football game last Saturday. I defiantly recommend this console to anyone with a pulse, because I'm sure whoever you are in whatever walk of life your in you can find a use for a Xbox.

I bought the xbox and battlefield 4 and a wii and games. I was not told that I could not play battlefield 4 on the console I was buying. I even asked! The hard drive is not large enough for the game. To buy the needed hard drive it is 130 $ more. Now I am stuck woth a console that only plays some games. Had I known this, I would have spent the extra money and bought the console with the hard drive that supports the game I bought. Of coursethe game and system are both open and cannot be returned or exchanged. Do not want to spend 130+ tax after spending 500 on this trip. So in a nutshell, make sure you can play the games on this console before you buy.

    Solid Deal with Protection Plan

So I got a great deal on my 4gig Xbox 360, and purchased the 4 year protection plan for a STEAL. This DOES cover the "red circle of death," in case you were wondering. So if this happens sometime in the next 4 years, I can come back in, they'll see that it's not something that they can fix, and they'll simply give me a new one. This is better than Game Stop's policy, where they send it back to the manufacturer. At Best Buy, they'll just hand you another one. Plan also covers "defective" controllers. So....that's awesome. Console is working great, and I'm having a lot of fun, and no worries about the longevity of the Xbox. This rules!

    Best Xbox 360 Slim

I needed a new Xbox but did not want a XBOX One yet... So I purchased The 4G E (newest) slim model. I was surprised how different it was from my other Slim. It is very quiet, the unit stays at a temperature doesn't cause game freezes and was very inexpensive. I was surprised that there wasn't a traditional analog connection. I thought using using a headset would be impacted but it was a non-issue once I understood the workaround. I would recommend this to anyone that is waiting to see how the XBOX ONE performs. Also, If you still need a device to play your inventory of 360 titles that will not work on the ONE. This a terrific solution.

I had purchased the game Rocksmith 2014 (at Best Buy), which teaches you how to play electric guitar by connecting a real guitar into the game. In reviewing the specs I realized my laptop wasn't powerful enough to run the game efficiently. So I decided to buy the Xbox 360 to run it. I've never owned or played a game console before in my life. I found it very easy to use and understand how it worked. It works great for this game! In fact, I bought the previous version of the game and am playing it on the 360 also. I'm really enjoying this experience and may buy other games to play on it as well.

The reason I got the 360 over the One is because many games that are coming out this year will still be available on the 360. So a cheaper console to play new titles. You don't need to have the kinect to run this, unlike the Xbox one. This model does not come with a hard drive so with some games, like Titanfall, you can not play it at all unless you get a hard drive. You can buy them separately and it is very simple to install it. Until Xbox games become Xbox one exclusive only, then I'll switch over. Even then I'll be able to sell this one for $100 and put it towards my Xbox one.

Good Windows 7 Media Center Streamer

Purchased primarily for Windows 7 Media Center cable card streaming capabilities for high definition cable television. I'm sure it's decent for DVD playback but lacking Blu Ray, it's not a 1 box solution for theater use. Tuning capabilities for Media Center and channel guide are decent and 5.1 surround is fantastic but there are occasional hiccups while attempting to access some of the channels, even though local network is hardwired cat6 gigabit. A network error badge displays and after a few seconds it goes away and channel starts to play as it should (minor inconvenience).

My original xbox 360 pro had finally red ringed, so I bought this as a replacement. This version of the console is considerably quieter than the older versions, which made watching netflix much more enjoyable. My only complaint is the lack of an included HDMI cable and headset; two things my 2007 version of the console came with, I see no reason not to include those. Moving my hard drive to this new console was as easy, only needed to open up the old enclosure remove the standard sata drive, and put it in to a newer style enclosure.

This Xbox was great until I tried to play the New Battlefield 4 and found out that I had to buy an extra internal Hard drive to install the game. Apparently the stock hard drive that comes with this model is not a "Xbox approved hard drive", so some games will not download to the 4GB of memory that the console comes with. If i would have known that in the beginning I would have went ahead and purchased the more expensive xbox with the correct hard drive.

This system is a great supplement to the PS3 and paramount for playing any of the HALO titles. The new lower price is fantastic and they seem to have worked all the kinks out. If you can swing both systems, your kids will likely have the right console for whatever games your neighbor's kids bring over. If you are holding out on the XBOX One or PS4 until there is a price break, you cannot go wrong with this system. I only dinged the graphics one notch due to the unchallenged superiority of the PS4 and XBOX one systems which are both available now.

Got this xBox 360 for my son to play minecraft, and for us to use Netflix and Hulu Plus. It works well and was easy to set up. Netflix and Hulu Plus work well on this. The standard controller works fine for navigating the menus. One think I didn't realize, in order to play minecraft in split screen mode (for 2 players), you need an HD TV connected to the xBox via a HDMI cable. Connecting to a standard def TV via the supplied cable works, but can not play 2 player minecraft.

Xbox 360 redesign is stable. Had one of the 1st one with "red ring of death"' but Xbox support fixed it. I like the compact design and it is quiet as compared to my 1st Xbox 360. I use a 32g flash drive for the memory, so I don't need to buy the internal hard drive kit right now. it's enough memory considering my 1st Xbox only had 20g. The only thing I don't care for is being forced to buy Xbox gold in order to use Netflix, Pandora, and other apps. My PS3 don't make me do that. Time tested system that works well.

I love this system, I love it so much I built a man cave around it. I have a 120" screen and a Epson projector, with an awesome 2.1 computer speaker system to go with it. It plays Dvds as well as Netflix and other cool apps. You do not even have to pay the fee to play Netflix and the other apps. It has a large library of games from kids to adult. It is easy to set up and use all that it comes with.

Love the system, was thinking about buying it for a while until I finally broke down and bought it. I love the games for it and the kinect is a great addition to it. The only downside is the amount of space it holds. 4 GBS is barely enough for anything. Basically it's once you beat a game you'll have to go into it and delete the data in order to play another game, or buy a bunch of flash drives to save the data. Other than that I love it
