    Best Console Yet

This console is AMAZING! I highly recommend it for the following reasons. It has a great online community and features. You make a friends list and can join their games when available. Tho Live does cost money it is well worth it. I recommend Call of Duty 4 for it. The online is great and very entertaining and you may never tire of it. The picture quality from 360's is great, especially with HDMI. I have it hooked to a 40" Samsung and am more than pleased with what i see. The Dashboard (home screen menus) is very simple and elegant and fun. You can set your own pictures for backgrounds or get cool ones from the marketplace online or a preset. You move around between the different "glides" of the dashboard to do various things and each glide is very straight forward. The arcade games are very fun. I recommend n+, Geometry Wars, and Geometry Wars2. You can plug your devices in via USB and play music from them in game. The controllers are extremely comfortable to hold. You can use the 360 as your middle man for all of your media - pictures, music, videos, dvds, cds, just not blu-ray discs, and i dont think it upconverts the dvds either. two minor things. the marketplace is amazing with videos for help with games to trailers to tv episodes to buy or arcade games and even some original xbox games. You would definitely want live with a 360 it is one of the things that makes the console. The games that come with this bundle arent great but forza has an interesting collection of rare cars to try out. i havent even played the marvel ultimate alliance game yet but my brother has and didnt like it. this is a great bundle you get the two games for free, no price jump from the package that doesnt contain the games so you may as well get this one. at least that was my reason. In comparison to the PS3, it has equal graphics, better online, tho it costs money but it is worth it, easy nav menu (the playstation has the cross media bar (XMB) tho it is crowded with different options under each menu, not resulting in the easiest navigation experience, nor the most exciting. the ps3 is now $400 for 80 GB hard drive which is only 2/3 as much as the elite's hdd size. a big loss is that the 360 has no wireless and an adapter is $100 new and $70 refurb. I dont have one so i cant tell you how well they work. i have the router for wireless next to my 360 so i plug it in via the ethernet cable that comes with the 360. As for controllers, the 360 controller is much more nicely designed, and in shooting games you use the triggers to shoot, not a flat button as you do on PS3. sure ps3 has blu-ray, but it shouldnt be a deciding factor for a VIDEO GAME CONSOLE. PS3 does have the nicer slot load disc drive like the Wii instead of the disc tray and i think has a nicer design but its not about how the console itself looks but how the picture on your tv looks. The huge hard drive is great for multimedia options and loads of amazing demos. and thats about it. as for price, i think all consoles are overpriced but in comparison with each other the 360 elite is as much as the only ps3 currently for sale new now. if you dont need the extra 60 gigs of memory then step down to the Pro for $100 less than the ps3 and only 20GB less hard drive space than the ps3. Gamerscore, Achievements and online reputation all add to the fun of the live experience and community. The 360 elite is the ultimate in today's console gaming and is very fun. If all this sounds right for you then buy it.

    XBOX 360 ELITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Xbox 360 Elite - with its shiny black case - is the latest version of the Xbox 360 with several important upgrades. First, it comes with a 120 gig hard drive, which is very important for people who love to download games, music and movies. Next, it comes with a built in HDMI port! First, the disk space. We got an Xbox 360 base unit right when it first came out, and we play *constantly*. It was very easy to get those 20 gig of space on the basic hard drive filled up with all sorts of things. We had music to play as background music in some games, we had lots of game demos we were trying out. We had videos to watch and downloadable games from the marketplace. We definitely needed more space. For graphics, we can easily notice that the video quality from the HDMI feed is better than what we were getting from the high def feed on the regular Xbox 360. The regular one offers component (red-green-blue) as its only high def feed. So if you're a gamer with a high def TV and want the best quality signal, you'll be happy about this HDMI output. Yes, you get a black wireless controller, a black headset and Live Silver membership along with this package. But really, most Xbox gamers have those things already. And most of them have Gold Live, since without Gold you can't play online. So these three things are certainly nice to have, but not a reason you would buy the Elite system. The package comes with a single disc containing 2 games - Forza and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Both are old games and not that thrilling; we had them already. Still, free games are at least things you can give away to friends. Perhaps best of all, the Elite has a new motherboard inside it which is much more reliable. It's called a FALCON. How can you tell what motherboard your Xbox 360 has? Here's the trick. It works for any 360 * Turn your 360 off and take off the hard drive and remove the game. * Turn the unit upside down. * Put a flashlight directly against the bottom grill. * Look in from the SIDE grill at the inside of your 360. If you see 3 red rings that "stick up" from the green motherboard, you have an old launch motherboard. If you see 3 red rings that "lay flat" on that motherboard, it's the middle Zephyr version. If you have only TWO red rings that lay flat, you've got a Falcon! I highly recomend having an Xbox 360 in your house for gaming, and I highly recommend going with the Elite. The hard drive space is VERY useful, the HDMI graphics are great, and having a 360 in general is just superb. Again, we literally play with the 360 all the time and rarely touch our other systems. The whole reason we had to get an Elite is that we were fighting over who could play on the 360 even though we have all these other game systems in the house. Highly recommended. So much fun

Having played and experienced the whole next generation console lineup, the 360 deems the winner and stays on top. Many people give deserved credit to Xbox Live. These are the reasons why: Xbox Live is very well established and understand what gamers want. They frequently update adding new content daily. The amount of things you can use Xbox Live for is vast! You can buy arcade games, play friends online, learn about new games, try out new games, buy movies (HD or Standard), TV shows, and in all honesty there really is more! At this point, I only see adding to the servers and yet to see removal. There is talk about unused items getting removed, but at the rate things are getting added there is always a large variety of content to choose from. The 360 also has good interactivity. If you understand how to use it right, it can act as a hub to stream music, video, and even pictures to yoru tv. This can be awesome in instances that you have a better sound system connected to your tv than your computer or likewise a tv with better resolution than your computer. The games are top of the line! The 360 has conquered all of the best formerly competitor exclusive titles such as Grand Theft Auto 4 as Resident Evil 5, and yet has a great handful of exclusive titles at hand and yet to come such as Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Forza 2, and Too Human. Multiplayer is often times a focal point. Many games can allow to pass any single player mode altogether just to play multiplayer on live. Matchmaking is usually quick as long as bugs are taken care of, but usually developers will quickly work on and release a patch to cure any lengthy wait times, unexplained booting, slow servers, etc. As for the Xbox 360 Elite version, I would highly recommend for those who already own a previous version of the 360. Sell it and take the difference to upgrade the elite. Chances are the money spent is worth the hard drive space and a fresh system. For those who have not gotten a 360 may want to turn to the arcade or premium, as they are a little more friendly cost-wise. Other than that, all I can say is come on microsoft, you can integrate built in wireless or at least cut a break on the adapter?

    Excellent Console

I've been a PC gamer for over 20 years and finally bought a Xbox 360 Elite console this year. After debating between a Xbox 360 and PS3 for several months, I decided to go with the Xbox 360 Elite and I have not regretted it one bit. I am running my Elite on a 52" Samsung Series 7 LCD over HDMI and it looks amazing! The graphics are excellent and the audio quality in surround sound is awesome! I read about many complaints of overheating and hot temperatures on the console. I have used the Xbox many times for 4+ hours straight and it is only slightly warm in the back. I am not using any aftermarket cooling fans and operation is great. Microsoft has done an excellent job in addressing heat concerns over the past two years by incorporating a second heat sink, improving airflow, and upgrading the chip sets that do not generate as much heat. I have not experienced any lag or drops of games (using a Linksys 300WRT Wireless N Router) on Xbox LIVE and this is where Microsoft destroys the competition. Download times of demos, movie trailers, etc. is solid and of course much better when you are purchasing something :-) The capabilities of LIVE are great and being able to show family and firends pictures and video over Windows Media Center is a big plus. The 120 GB hard drive and HDMI cable make the Elite package well worth the money. With all the available downloadable content, 120 GB provides plenty of space. In regards to my con listed above, Microsoft has said they are going to allow games to be downloaded to their hard drives this fall provided you have the original disk in the disk drive. A big big plus! If you have a quality audio system, noise from the Xbox fans is negligible. There is very little noise when you are not running a game and this should be negligble once MS allows games to be loaded on hard drives. The included games Forza and Marvel are fun games with tons of customization if you are interested in that. All in all, the Xbox 360 Elite is a no brainer to recommend!

    GREEN RING OF LIFE

    Posted
    Delta59

Well after owning the first production premium console, I must say there is a significant difference between the original premium consoles and the elite consoles. My first console gave me the red ring of death for no reason. My elite is a monster running for hours non-stop on intense gaming. I did get the red ring of death after a power surge went through the house but a simple power off and power on solved that problem. Now it's only the green ring of life!! Elite is great for high definition video output via HDMI cable and digital audio output via fiber optic cable. The included cables and the setup for the cables could have been better. 120GB HDD is insane. I don't even know what to use it for except to set it on automatic downloads on the newest arcade games, and manual downloads of all new game demos and trailers. The included 2 free games is a nice bonus and the 360 has the support of a vast video game selection so you will never be bored because you beat one game. There are plenty more worthy titles to challenge you and entertain you. Elite. Enough said.

when i bough my pro console i assumed that 20 gb would be more than enough for me and I wouldnt be set for life with 20GB of memory. after a few years and over 30 games that I play it seems the 20 gb isnt really enough. Granted I could clean out some of those games I dont play quite as much but its much more convient just to buy a bigger Hard drive. considering that 120gb cost 180$ roughly I figure the bundle is a good deal, since you get the expanded hard drive/2 decent games/HDMI cable for only 100$ more. keep in mind I had to purchase an additional wireless black controller and charging station to convert my white accessories to black but its not to shabby as I now have a completely black gaming setup (which i prefer) To anyone that is questioning the buy then go with the new 60gb it should be plenty for most people. that is unless you have to have a black console.

    Buy the warranty

I bought my Elite XBOX 360 in December of 07. Three months later I had to ship it in for repair due to hardware failure (ring of death). The process was pretty straight forward and simple but was down for about 2 1/2 weeks. I was shipped a repaired Elite 360 and a month later I had the same problem (ring of death) and I sent it back in. I was shipped another repaired Elite console and as soon as I hooked it up, it had the ring of death. I just sent it back in for repairs and I am currently waiting for another refurbished unit to arrive. When my console was working it was awesome. The online gaming is better than PS3. This is worth the money but make sure you buy the extended warranty from xbox.

The XBOX 360 elite is a awsome buy if you like to download a lot of songs, movies, pics, and online games. The only thing is that when you buy this you really only get 103G of free space, because of all of the game demos, xbox videos, and microsoft software allready on the elite XBOX. BUT you can delete all of the little demos and get your memory up to about 110G. but that is still a lot of space, i loaded all of my songs on my pc onto it and still have more than 80G left and i have a lot of songs and videos. so if you need all of that space (I recommend it) get the elite. but if not get the regular white one... but then you wont be able to brag to everyone you know

I first got a xbox over 1 year ago and since joining xbox live about a year ago i realized the importance of space so then i chose to upgrade from the pro to elite since it has a massive 120 gb hdd. Xbox live is a necessity if you wish to enjoy your 360 to the fullest capability. The overall game play and graphics are excellent as well. The only fear i have towards Xbox is the RROD which in the begining were a problem but since have been reduced severely. I also prefer black over white since it looks better. Playstation has to climb a ladder before it could compare its microscopic network to LIVE. Get one and join the community.

    Best system as of yet

THe elite is awesome because it comes with the HDMI cable and the normal system doesnt, also it has a 120G harddrive verse the 20G, so if you want movies and music its perfect. The xbox 360 is also great because there are so many great games and the Live part is amazing. Negatives being that the system doesnt have a built in wireless connector so it costs $100 more, also xbox's used to have a 33% fail rate in 1 year but they put in new coolers in the elites so that shouldnt be as bad of a problem. Otherwise i would recommend these to anyone thats looking for something fun to do.

The 360 elite is the best buy in my opinion out of all the 360 bundles. you get a 120 gig drive, a controller a free hdmi cable, and so much more. although i dont recommend the 120 gig hard drive it if you don't play alot. I have 9 games and some downloaded stuff and ive only used 20 gigs.it also has quality games like gears, halo, and other exclusives. my only complaint is im afraid i might get the red ring of death cause a few of my friends got it on theirs and its really load when playing games the fan is destracting. But i recommend this system to people who are looking for a good system and a great buy

I had an xbox, then bought an xbox 360. I enjoy it very much, but felt the need of getting an elite, because 1) I like the black color 2) Lots more memory for music and saves and 3) To show off to my friends. I have not had any problems with this system and it has many great games as well as arcade games (purchased on LIVE) The xbox live feature is great! It enables you to play with people from around the country. I've never had "the red ring of death" that people speak of, so I would recommend this to everyone that is interested in gaming. (In my opinion, a better choice than the Wii and PS3)

First of all let me say that XBOX 360 is way better than ps3 because it has so many more games that are worth playing. With this bundle you get the black system with the awesome 120 Gig Hard Drive you get the black controller, black headset, and HD cord too. SWEET. Marvel Ultimate Alliance(just like x-men legends) and Forza Motor Sports are pretty good games so all in all this is a GREAT DEAL!!! The only thing it needs is the wireless internet adapter. I would recommend this bundle to anyone who is interested in buying XBOX 360. This is the best XBOX 360 console out right now.

I got this as a prize in a drawing from microsoft. It's really fun, and theres so much you can do with just a network card, and beyond that, you can expand to games you buy, watch movies in HD. I've heard complaints about the DVD playback- I don't have any. It looks amazing on my 42 inch television. Only complaint is that it runs another 99 bucks or so for the network card to make it wirelessly connected, and then you have to purchase bundles of points, another controller, or two or three - so the costs start piling up.

black finish is a great design to look at and works flawlessly. it also comes with 2 free games so the price deal is only 50 dollars difference with the 60GB model. multimedia capability and a large variety of peripherals make it a system of choice. huge amount of games a lot of must have titles. online service is phenomenal with games, videos and tv shows and much more. microsoft has done it right this time with the xbox. i switched from nintendo to microsoft because of 360

This console is the bomb! I have not had any problem in the months of having this amazing console! the graphics are awesome in halo 3. I use my x360 elite mostly on my 32 inch Westinghouse 720p hdtv tv, and I occasionally use it on my 50 inch samsung 1080p hdtv tv. this is the console to brag to your friends about. The console has amazing graphics and sound. the price is a little to much with the warranty but it is still awesome! I would definitely suggest this cool console.

the xbox 360 is a great hd console for your money. it has many exclusive titles including the halo and gears of war franchises. the elite console has 120 GB of storage, an hdmi output and cable and the standard component and composite cables. in the box is an Ethernet cable, headset and wireless controller. and everything has a matte black finish. the only con is the rrod so i say, get a 2 year product replacement plan. overall this is a good console.

Buying the elite is the best thing I ever did. The best part beside the graphics is that you don't need an intercooler. I played it 6 hrs. straight--no change in temperature. You also can't beat the 120GB hard drive. Plus the ability to hook it up to your computer is pretty cool. I can go on and on about this, so basically if you can afford it, buy it.
