has its goods and bads but mainly good

this system in simplest terms is great but has drawbacks... my main issue was price. being 14, so i cant work, and getting no allowance, thats alot of money to be spending on a game. i only spend about 3 or 4 hours a day playing it, but i dont play during the school days because of sports and homework, so its not being over played. Goods the xbox is more popular over ps3 around where i live and almost all of my friends have one. they all kept telling me that i "needed" to get one and that it is amazing, which is true. the graphics (after playing ps2 for whats seems like forever) are incredible. you can also upload music. just by putting in a cd or ipod and choosing what songs you want on your hard drive. you can listen to all your songs while your playing a game or at the dashboard. you can also upload videos, though i havent done that yet and dont know how to. xbox live is also great because there are always people playing so there is always someone to play a game with. you can also talk to the other people that you're playing with, although things that are said arent always... appropriate... but if your older then it makes the game funny. with all of this, there is a 120 gb hard drive which i have only used about 3 gb of data and thats mainly from the forza add on pack that comes with the game. the elite also seems to be good on heat resistance which helps against a type of red ring of death(rrod)... the rrod is nothing more than the console saying that there is something wrong with the system and different problems get different portions of the ring lit up. the games that come with it are, right now, 40 dollars which can change, but when i bought the bundle, they were both $60 and there was a 50 dollar gift card that came with it if i ordered online, but the bundle was $300 instead of $250. Bads price is probably my main problem with this console. the xbox in this bundle does not come with a wifi connection other than the ethernet cable that comes with it that is about 5 feet or so... and my xbox and computer are on different floors so it doesnt help me any. to buy a wireless network adapter, the cheapest one is about 100 dollars at bestbuy. so in order to have xbox live, you would need to spend100 dollars extra on the system and if you wanted a one year membership, thats 50 dollars. plus the warranty is around 80 bucks. other than price, i do have to say that i dislike that forza and halo come in the same case, so the manuals to the games dont go in the case, so i have to keep them in the console box. i also feel like i run through batteries like crazy... i needs new ones for the controller every other week, which isnt a problem if you have rechargeable batteries. think that covers just about everything, oh, and it comes with basic tv cables and no hd cables so if you have an hd tv, you would need to buy hd cables... which isnt a problem for me cause i dont have an hd tv... and so concludes a long review of this product, i hope i helped with the decision of getting this bundle.

The Xbox 360 is a great console.. It has its flaws

Fist I will talk about the consoles flaws, and then the good stuff about it. Okay, first is the very two loud fans that is has. You can't hear the fans if you have the volume up loud , like I do, but when its down low you can hear them like a Jumbo Jet . The next thins is the scratching of the games. This happened to me the very first day I bought it. The little story goes like this. I had the console standing up right I put ODST in and started the game, so i looked at my console and I was afraid of it falling over , so i started to but it on its side. Then it happened, the sound that I fear hearing again. I opened the tray and my brand New ODST game was scratched all around the game the Xbox did a 360 scratch on my game! If this happens to you take it back to where you bought it, don't try the toothpast thing it just sound stupid. Okay, I think I said all the bad things that happened to me. Now on to the good things about the 360. The 360 is a good sold console and I think if anyone who loves Halo, like me, would get the Elite with ODST and Forza. If you can work around the flaws , the disk being scratched and fans.I like the fact that is comes with two games, but it only comes with one controller. I would Highly would recommend this console to anyone. Ps. Read the owners manual and all the warning labels and the label on the tray door it would have saved my alot of time.

Let's break it down. + Halo ODST and Forza 3 (At the time of the review) are both $60. + Black Elite Console + 120GB Hard Drive + 1 Black Wireless Controller + Headset + 3 Months of Xbox Live Gold (I Think) + Ethernet Cable If you think that this bundle is a little too expensive, think again. If you purchase a new Xbox Arcade console ($199), you're getting just that, a console, controller, and a 256 MB hard drive. This Elite bundle, you get all that and much more. So much more, it's like you're stealing it. Let's see if this convinces you. If you bought a Xbox Arcade console today that's already $200. Buy these 2 games together, add $120. You'll have to upgrade your hard drive eventually, so why not the 60GB HD? $100. A basic headset will cost you $20. 3 months of Xbox Live Gold will be another $20. Total, you'll spend $460. Add a little to that total for tax. If you want a lot of stuff for a good value, go with this bundle. I'm definitely getting this bundle as soon as I get my hands on $300. The only downside about this bundle package is the fact that it does not come with HDMI/Component cables. Standard A/V cables are included which only give you a 480p picture. If you have an HDTV, spend the extra cash on an HDMI cable and treat yourself to a 1080i picture.

I've been playing games forever! I purchased my Special Edition XBox 360 Elite (Resident Evil Console $400 at the time) just about a year ago (May 2009). I originally purchased this item to play Call of Duty World at War (The zombies sucked me in), and have been awe inspired by the detail of the games, and how excellent this system has been holding up. For those who complain about the 'whirring' noise of the DVD, install the game onto the console so it doesn't spin a majority of the time. You still need the dvd in to play, but it keeps the system pretty quiet while playing. Ever since MW2 came out, it's been the only game that I have been playing. At one point while I was unemployed and doing some job hunting, I was playing for just about 5 hours a day at times. Darn thing was addicting! The price of these consoles are dropping due to the new 360 Slim that's on it's way. Might as well pick one of these guys up for $50 less than the new product while they are still available. Love my 360, and get to catch up with a nice handful of friends with the XBox Live.

    Best Multiplayer and Entertainment Platform

Xbox Live is THE standard when it comes to multiplayer gaming. A headset is included with this Xbox which ensures you will have other players communicating even if what they have to say is trash. Xbox Live offers tons of on demand movie and television shows for around $3 to $10 depending on the title and if you want HD or non-HD quality. If you already have a Netflix subscription then you get to enjoy Netflix's on-demand streaming at no additional cost. The Xbox allows you to stream music and video directly from your computer using your home network. There is a sea of games to choose from so there is probably something out there for you. Be careful these Xboxes no longer come with the component HD cables so you need to already have an HDMI cable and if you dont then you should also buy the Xbox HD cable pack. This HD cable back is especially important if your surround sound receiver does not have HDMI input. You need the special optical output adapter that comes with the HD cable pack or you can run HDMI to your TV and use the TV's optical audio output (if it has one) to go to your receiver.

ROM Drive is still really noisy & misleading pic

    Posted
    Limmy

I was really hoping this new XBOX would resolve the fan and ROM drive noise. The fan may be a bit quieter (than my old XBOX 360) but the ROM noise is ridiculous as compared to my PS3. I got this is as a secondary XBOX so I could hang out around the family and not be totally irritated with the CONSOLE noise. The fan still makes a borderline obnoxious noise but some music can soften that which leaves the ROM noise. The ROM drive noise is just as bad as the original XBOX I purchased a couple years back. Good thing with this unit has the larger HD. Install the most commonly played games and all you need to mask is the XBOX fan which is possible. If you want to sell the games separately note you only have one case for both games. Product image shows two separate cases – or maybe they just split the case in half. For my purpose of having a secondary XBOX which could be used for NetFlix streaming in another room, no ROM drive noise once the games are installed, backup just in case the old one succumbs once again to the Red Ring of Death, and the ability to play games against family members in full screen (versus splitting the display in half for two players) this was a worthwhile purchase. I would buy it again and the included $50 GC again for $300.

    Great bundle for the price

I recently purchased this item for the primary reason being the price of the bundle. 2 top rated games was a plus for sure. Also purchased Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3. The system is backwards compatible for those 2 original xbox titles Halo CE and Halo 2 and plays them very well, not sure about all original xbox titles. 120 Gb HDD is nice if you plan on downloading games, movies, music, etc. I'm not at that point yet I have a 80 Gb PS3 "fat" for that purpose. I have had no problems with the system so far, I have played upwards of 10 hrs straight. I keep the system clean and cool as possible ambientTemp is around 70 deg roughly. So with proper care hopefully I can avoid the infamous RROD for some time to come. Have not gone online with the system yet and in no rush to pay to play. If you want to avoid eating up batteries I suggest the play-n-charge kit. So far I have had alot of fun "Big Halo Fan" hope this review helps.

Great Gaming Experience with some issues!

Tthe XBOX 360 Elite replaces an original XBOX 360 who's dvd drive failed. I can say that in the last four years we've had another XBOX 360 fail with the dreaded red ring of death (RROD). In Microsoft's defense, it was extremely painless to get it sent in, repaired and returned. Alas, two years later it finally succumbed to years of abuse from the kids. I was left with the choice of repairing the old XBOX 360's DVD drive or purchasing a new one. The Elite came with two $50 games and a $100 120gb hard drive, so in reality, it saves a few $$$ over the $199 price of the XBOX 360 Arcade. Couple this with the fact that the newer Elite is quieter than our older model and I was able to turn the resale of the old console into a learning tool for my kids, it's a good deal. Everything I've mentioned above is justification enough for the XBOX 360, but it's worth mentioning that in terms of an online gaming environment, the XBOX 360 has no comparison. The PS3 does many things well and we have hours of fun with our Wii, but the most used console in the house by far is the XBOX 360. Simply put, it's got the games people play and in the world of consoles, that's what counts.

I had boughten the xbox360 arcade back in december of 2007 and had a red ring problem a year ago and got it back. After that, I got bored of the xbox , and in october of 2009, I decided to sell the 360 and get a ps3, WORSE DECISION EVER! The xbox360 has a wide range of games and great online capabilities and perks! You have the halo series, Gears of war series, left 4 dead 1 and 2, project natal coming soon and all of the 3rd party games like call of duty and stuff! Upcoming halo reach, alan wake, gear of war 3, ect. Live costs 20 bucks for 3 months and 50 bucks for a whole year, not to bad when you think about all you get and the value! GET THE XBOX360! Overall I love the Xbox 360, its deffinetly the best conosole I've ever played and the games are amazing. The 360 has a huge library of games and better yet this bundle comes with two game in high demand, Forza Motorsport 3 and Halo 3: ODST. I love the 120GB HDD, the console looks slick in black and the controller is amazingly comfterable. However finding a console that dosent have scuffs or scratches on it seems to be hard to do. I ended up having to return a handful of systems till I finally found one that wasent scuffed up and or had the serial and power stickers on the back put on poorly (on completely crooked, folded in corners, etc.) When you buy a console thats $300 you want it to look good, am I right? Finally found one though and love it. Very quiet compared to older models, power supplys much smaller, and love the shine around the HDD. Totally worth the headache.

This 360 has been amazing. i plaied it for a day straight! It was great! i didnt like FrozaMotorSports that much. but ODST was fun, then with Mw2 amazing!.. game play is amazing! the controller is very accurate with what your seeing. the controller fits soo perfectly in your hands. however the battery does run out pretty fast.(well i did play for a day straight) I didnt have any problem with my 360. no over heating no change in gameplay. Very beginner friendly..(i noticed that this time. my last 360 my brother took it when he moved out). Get this at BestBuy they are extreamly helpful in emails they send you after a purchase. If you never want your 360 to break, keep it in a free area. it should be fine on its own. internet is quick and smooth! i loved everything about it!

Game console for 62 year old kid

Breathtaking ... very smooth and beautiful. Then you turn it on. ZZZZZZ An abrasive buzz coming from inside the Xbox. Like one of those little aquarium air pumps. How odd. Only during games that require access to the DVD. None of the games from Xbox Live cause this buzz. After getting over this irritation, I found the Xbox to be an exciting diversion. My suggestion? Get some of those noise cancelling headphones, put a grumpy look on you face, settle into a comfortable chair and tell everyone to leave you alone for an hour. Play FORZA MOTORSPORT 3. It will give your ticker a kicker. But you must be strong. If you are weak, you will cry like a little girl. If you are strong, your wife won't be able to take it away and hide it from you. -Lens Jammer

    Great Console!!!

The Xbox has come a long way from the original xbox, and the franchise is expanding, this console is a beast! I have the original 360 with the 13.9 GB hard drive, and I <3 it. There is a wide game selection, including Halo 3, Gears of War, but Microsoft does nothing about the problems. the RROD (red ring of death) is a huge problem for gamers. If you happen to get the RROD, your xbox is screwed. you have to send in your xbox to microsoft, and they just send you a refurbished one. I did get the RROD last year and had to send it in. One month later, I get one back, i plug it in and guess what? I got a RROD xbox from microsoft!!! so if you want a fast, non-breaking down console, go get something else, but if you want a fun, but expencive gaming experience, get this console!

well this is a deal two games that r free. now games run about 62 bucks after tax! and the hard drive is 100 buks. I know I had a 360 then I sold it, sadly. I need a camra. so I do know what Iam talk about. the 360 run's great but the only thing I have that I REALLY, dont like is that is 50 bucks a year to use the internet. but u have like three mounth cards and one mounth cards, if I reamber right. any way the games r sweet, i have played all of the halo games and I most say odst, is on of the funest. the raceing game is more for 14 and up cuz its more of a sim racer. and odst is more for 14 and up to cuz of the content, but thats just what i thank cuz i really dont thank that a ten year old so play M games. but thats just me. For the 300 bucks its really a good deal.

I have owned several Xbox products over the years and was almost a former owner. I had some problems recently with my Xbox Arcade and almost switched consoles altogether; I'm glad that I did't. I purchased the Xbox Elite which came with two free games and a promotional gift card, what a bargain. The graphics are better than ever and the GPU issues seemed to have been resolved. I would recommend this console to anyone!

This console is simply "AWESOME". Its waaay better then The PS3 and Wii combined! It has over 1000 games to choose from. If you get this you have to get xbox live. A amazing online gaming system. Now I know the PS3 has free online play. While xbox live is $50 dollars a year. Xbox live is wayy better then play station network. Believe this was and is a great buy!! WOO HOO go xbox!

The difficulty for me was trying to find it in stock but other than that this is a great value especially if you are just buying your first Xbox 360 with games that are included that you will actually play like Halo and Forza. It really does come with a $50 Best Buy gift card with was very hard to believe and this generation of the elites looks to be better because of the newer version of the power supply that they have. Get it before this amazing price goes away!

This system is a great package (better than the PS3 I'd say) especially with the incentives of Halo and Forz Motorsport. The graphics are great provided you have the right equipment which leads me to the only downside. The 360 comes with HD cables but the 360 Elite does not. I was quite disappointed to discover the picture to be fuzzy on my new HD tv without the cables. Overall, no other complaints!!

I had a 360 a couple of years ago and then switched to a ps3. Once i heard this was coming out I had to get it. It comes with halo 3 odst and forza 3. Excellent value since both games separate are $60 each. Also, I noticed this xbox runs alot cooler than the previous ones, which makes it trustworthy against RROD. Overall the value of this system is excellent. Must have for anyone wanting to buy an xbox.
