Very happy with our first gaming console!

PURCHASE THE BEST BUY WARRANTY! It cost us $39, and if the Xbox breaks we can get a replacement right in the store instead of waiting weeks to ship it to Microsoft. If you're going to spend this much money, pay the $39 as well. This is our first gaming console since owning the PS1 years ago; we bought it because upgrading our computers for gaming was becoming too expensive. Instead of paying $2000 every other year for gaming computers, we paid $299 for a unit that has graphics FAR superior to what we were getting with PCs, and won't have to upgrade it for years. We chose the 60-gig model, and so far have only used 4 gig of it, mostly with downloading trial versions of games. I think the 60-gig will work for most users, unless they want to store their CD games onto the hard drive or like to download every game demo video from Xbox Live. DO NOT GET THE 256-meg version for $100 cheaper, even if buying for the kids; you will need more space than that just for the basics! The 120-gig is nice for serious gamers, the types who need a bazzillion-gig iPod to store all their music, but 60 will work fine for most people, and you have the option of purchasing a larger hard drive later if needed. The 120 also includes an HDMI cable, for viewing in hi-def (on a hi-def TV), but you can get that much cheaper without spending the extra $100 for the larger Xbox. Ours came free with Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda, which was nice since we didn't have to buy games for our younger kids to play when we let them use this as a treat. They are 6 and 7, and thoroughly enjoy both games. The Xbox also comes pre-loaded with 16 trial games, which are not limited-time trials; you can play them indefinitely, but do not have access to some levels or features. Many of them are pretty simplistic, but Uno is a new favorite of mine, and the kids love the Lego Star Wars demo; they haven't even managed to finish the demo levels yet. Even if you can't afford to purchase many games right away, you'll have these 16 demos to play. Be warned that, when we first went to play our first CD Game, Call of Duty, it said we had to go online to load updates, so you will want to have internet access,at least for a few minutes. We did not purchase the wireless connector; I just plugged my Ethernet cord from my router to the Xbox and connected that way. If you haveto, just take the Xbox into a room where you can connect for a few minutes, then move it back. The PS3 is $100 more, and includes the wireless adaptor. The adaptor for the Xbox is $99,so they're really priced the same if you want the wireless connection. We chose to hold off buying the connector for now, so you can save that money if you have a way to connect to the internet in the room where your Xbox will be. If you won't be using Xbox Live, you can skip this all together. I just plug the ethernet cable in occassionally when I need to get online, no biggie. Xbox Live...We're trying it out for $7.99 for one month. We have found a wide variety of free demo games to download with it. You won't get demos of hot items like Halo 3 or Far Cry, but there are many arcade and card games, and several decent demos such as Tomb Raider and Lord of the Rings. We've found these nice for trying before buying, since games are expensive. You can also buy full versions of many slightly older games, such as Fable and Halo 2, but I would recommend purchasing those at the store so you have the actual CD. Xbox Live also allows you to play with other players over the internet, but we have not tried this yet. You can also download on-demand movies and TV shows for a price, and Netflix members can get movies on-demand as well (a Netflix membership must be purchased seperately). Know ahead of time that any really great games are going to cost additional money; purchasing the gold membership does not mean that all content is free. The unit runs a bit noisy, and makes popping sounds when running a CD, but is only noticeable when I play at night with the volume off. This might be a problem if your spouse or roommate can't stand machine noise while sleeping; it is about equal to a noisy desktop. It does not make the popping noise when playing a game that is loaded on the hard drive, such as Uno. The included gamepad takes 2 AA batteries, and I have had to change them twice in the last two weeks. Eventually you may want to switch to the charger packs available. It does come with two batteries in the box. We use our controller at the head of our bed, maybe 12 feet from the console, and have no connectivity problems. It also includes a headset, but this does NOT work as earphones, for silencing the game; it is only for voice chat. You will need to purchase regular headphones to plug into the TV if you want silent play. The box included everything needed for basic setup. We had our own HDMI cord, so we used that for hi-def connection, but it is not required; you do not HAVE to purchase anything other than what is in the box. We also purchased a second controller. (Tip: Buy the second controller in black, so you can tell the difference between the two). We purchased Halo 3, which we found very difficult to master as new gamers, Call of Duty World at War, which was an easier first-person shooter to learn, and Need for Speed Undercover, which is less violent than Grand Theft Auto. You do drive to avoid cop cars, but there is no killing, swearing, etc., and I would say it's fine for kids. Also note that Call of Duty has alot of swearing, including the "F-bomb," so keep that in mind before playing in front of the kids. You can set up a profile for each family member, which will store each person's stats and saved games. That way, the kids won't ruin a saved game you've been working on! You can also set family restrictions for what content can be viewed on Xbox Live. All in all we're very pleased. It was cheaper than the PS3, with a larger assortment of games available. It does not have Blue Ray like the PS3, if that's important to you. Also, the PS3 has free accessto their online stuff, but you still have to pay for many of the options available. For a great price, we've bought a lot of entertainment for our family!

    Rip off

I have both a ps3 and a xbox. I have pictures to prove it. The xbox is a rip off. I have cod5 for both systems and just downloaded the map pack for both systems. I have 3 users on both systems as well too. On the ps3, I only had to buy it once and all 3 users get to use it. On xbox I have to buy it 3x's for all users to have it. We are all serious gamers and don't want to share user names and some of you can respect that. That leads me to another thing on the ps3 multiplayer is free for as many users as I like. On the xbox I have to pay for each user which averages $150 a year for the 3 of us, this is bulls&^%, And as far as graphics comparision on both systems, I can't tell a difference, but the sound I do and between cod5 on both systems, the ps3 has better sound. So I don't want to hear that xbox has better graphics and better internet connection because they have their own server because they really don't. The ps3 does have its "lag" moments but not enough for me hate the system especially for free. I play on a 46' 1080p 120h. so I get a good idea on the both systems. comparisons as far as saving money with 3 online users for one year ---------------------xbox, ps3 console- ---------$299, $399 blue ray-----------no,yes blut tooth- --------no, yes wireless router---no($99 option), yes (if no wireless the 8' ethernet cable isn't usually enough, so about $25 extra to get a cord to reach from modem to xbox) multiplayer- ------$150, Free map packs--------$30 per game, $10 per game =$578 for xbox, $409 for ps3. This is just for 1 year and 1 game, xbox prices just keeps accumilating more and more with each game, each user and each year. then read reviews at bestbuy.com about xbox's red ring of death and then read reviews of ps3. Like I said I have both systems and xbox will cost you more money in the long run and for what, RIP OFF! thanks for nothing microsoft. This for all you that think you're saving money by buying the xbox.

    This thing scares me...

    Posted
    Tommy870

Let me start off by saying that I have access to both an Xbox 360 and a PS3 so I know the ups and downs of both systems very well. The Xbox 360 does have better online functionality with cross-game party chat and invites as well as the ability to send voice messages during games. These are the only extra features Live has over PSN that matters to me but MS will be adding Facebook and Twitter later as well as downloadable 1080p movies off the marketplace. I do experience lag when using the home button features off and online which is frustrating. But the Xbox does have custom soundtracks all the time which is a nice feature PS3 doesn't have. I gave Graphics a three for two reasons. One, while on the back of every game box it shows resolution up to 1080p, that is misleading. While the Xbox 360 can upconvert all games to 1080p, the DVD format isn't made for 1080p content the way Blu-Ray is. There just isn't enough space and don't forget DVD was made during the SD era where Blu-Ray is made for 1080p HD. Just compare the same game boxes on both systems, the PS3 will show a lower rez but that is it's true native resolution without upconverting the signal. That said, many of the games still look great. Gears of War 2 and Forza 3 look incredible at 720p. Second, I've seen way better graphics on the PS3 with Killzone 2, MGS4, Grand Turismo 5 and so on. You may be asking why this thing scares me. Well after two RROD's and a burned video card (all within 2 years) every time this thing freezes up i'm afraid red lights are gonna start flashing. In my experience this thing is noisy and when playing it at night with the tv down low this thing sounds like it's gonna implode. It's so much louder than any game console or computer i've ever owned. And i've had so many hardware-related issues from total failures to burned video cards to corrupted data it's just ridiculous. And I must note I have always kept it in a well ventilated area. Heat isn't a problem usually. At least the warranty is good though. I gave value a three because for $300 I get an all-around good gaming console that sadly must be repaired within a year which takes up to a month. This combined with the lack of built in Wi-Fi (on a system made for online no less) and being limited to only purchasing overpriced MS hard drives and memory cards as well as having to buy battery packs chargers and play and charge cables all for a controller that cost the same as a PS3 controller that has all 3 of these built in??? I'd recommend this product to a friend, but only if they're willing to pay a lot for accessories and don't mind risking a repair or two down the line.

I've been waiting for months to get one on my hands for a time, and I will say, I dont regret buying this baby, and better the more, a Jasper chip 12.A1. This is my first one, and hope at least to last more with this chip, since reports confirm that keeps the console from overheating, and hoping that more, since I didnt had enough for the 2 year service plan, but at least I expect that the 12 months of warranty provided by Microsoft is true. This console is great, same as the other ones. Being Nintendo (Wii, DS), Sony (PS2, PSP, PS3) or Microsoft (XBOX360), its the same, all are awsome, same the games, even if some are exclusives for a certain console, everything is about the experience of gaming, sadly some, like me, can only afford cheaper ones, since this cost me 5 months of work to get it, but at least it includes the $25 Gift Card. WELL, I have seen this console before, many friend and family have it, and all have had the common problem as everyone else, the "RROD", and haven't bother to boght another console besides this one, because of the fact they had already enought games to sell them for a cheapy price. I hope at least in the future that the PS3 becomes at least a little cheaper, but one other problem is that it reads only Blu-Ray, which is expensive, and PS2 has more purchase than the PS3, since it reads DVD, at least Sony should make the PS3 to read DVD's and PS2 games too. Well, today my XBOX360Pro60GB12.1A has 1 day of use, and I love it, but the only thing that worries me is that the sound it makes puts me nervous if like the game inside is being scratch but it doesnt, but still it worries me, but the way to use it is awsome and the function is fine. From today I have decided to play at least 2 times at least for 2-3 hrs every turns, I recommend it, like a security meassure, to avoid oveheating, and turning on the air conditioner to keep it fresh, since Microsoft (and Sony) dont recommed InterCoolers in the consoles, but well, everyone has his own console and the right to do what ever you want. The grapichs depends soo much regarding the games you are play, but for now the only one I have is RE5 CE bought 03-13-2009, a present I was given and with no console =P, the grapichs are awsome, same as the sound, but I have seen more, like Halo3 or GuitarHero. Some looks great in this console, some in PS3, but still the same. The experience will only get better if I had a HDTV al least, to enjoy the ride and action better. For now I love this console, the effort and wait was worth at least, but if it breaks I just hope it happens before the 30 days of buying it passes sooner so I can replace it for a new one, or better if it lasts for the next 3 years at least, because I dont wants to write a negative review for this one, soo don't fail me my XBOX360 & Microsoft, cause I dont want to regret buying this one console.

PROS: - The wide variety of games for this console is sure to please every type of gamer. From family friendly games like LEGO Batman to the all famous Call of Duty 4 for serious gamers. - The menus are very easy to navigate. It might seem like a lot when you first start up the console but with about 20 minutes of messing around, you'll be familiarized well enough. You should read the manual over before starting to mess around with the console, at least a quick glance. - The way LIVE is constructed, makes it effortless for people to interact with each other with either online gameplay or just a simple live chat. - The headset it comes with is just fine, nothing to brag about but definitely something worth keeping. - You can stream music right from you home PC, if its XP or Vista based. Or you can hook up your iPod, Zune, MP3 player, or flash drive right into 1 of the 2 USB ports and listen to your music from them. Or view pictures and watch videos. -------------------- CONS: - Its a little bulky, in my opinion. Maybe about the same size as the PS3 but more square/blocky. The PS3 is more sleek. I have a PS3, so yeah, I can see the comparison. - You have to pay to be able to play online. Again, Im use to playing online for free with the PSN/PS3. - It has a disk tray that pops in and out. Maybe Im just use to the PS3 and Wii's sliding in the game. - The power supply brick is pretty big, and can make a humming noise after a while. - One of my biggest dissapointments is that it does not have Wi-Fi. Xbox being made by Microsoft, a computer company, you think it would have Wi-Fi. Instead I had to re-arrange the furniture in my room so I can have the ethernet cable reach my router. There is a wireless adapter but I dont think its worth spending $100 for it. Although having the Xbox connected to the router makes it easier to stream music, photos, and vidoes. So it goes both ways. - It doessnt have Bluetooth either. Maybe its just me being picky but I would of loved to use my Bluetooth earpiece for my phone, PS3, and Xbox. . . but guess not. - It doesnt have an internet browser either. Not a big con but maybe would be nice to have. ---------------- the Marketplace, online store, it a lil bit of both pro and con. The good thing about it, is that there's a ton of stuff you can buy. You can probably spend hours looking at stuff they have. The bad thing about it, is that when you go look for a game, its all under one big list, list of all the games that has downloadable content. The Playstation Store is much more organized, but not as much stuff. Overall a good purchase. I would consider myself somewhat of a serious gamer. Very diversre in what the console has to offer from playing online, chatting, messaging, music, pictures, movies, and so forth.

Not the best console on the market.

    microsux

Yeah this system is probably the biggest failure in terms of number of consoles that have had to be refurbished or replaced. But for some reason or another people have been buying the heck out of them. For all you fan boys out there that proclaim this to be the best system ever made and superior to PS3 in every way, I am sure you haven't played a PS3. I own both systems and my PS3 gets played way more, they only reason I keep a 360 is for the exclusives like Gears, Left 4 Dead, etc. I have been through 5 of this things since it's launch and last night I got RROD again so make that 6 after a trip to BB today. The graphics are not better then PS3, most games that are on both systems are either identical or not as crisp on the 360. You get no internal wireless adapter you have to pay an extra $100 to get that (if you buy M$'s adapter anyways). As for online yeah LIVE is okay although I still don't care for paying for it. This thing is very loud, I live on an Air Force base and I can hear this machine running over the screaming fighter jets that fly around here. The 360 runs very hot as well so you better have this thing sitting out in the open and not have anything near it unless you want it melted. The controller is pretty hefty as well and tends to cramp up the fingers. The game selection is good, but most games are on multiple consoles. Some games get released on the 360 before others but extra money from M$ to 3rd party developers makes that possible. Also you can't easily upgrade your HDD options to anything above the biggest HDD M$ currently sells without paying their price for their HDD. With PS3 you can stick whatever the biggest laptop HDD on the market is, 500 gb and you won't void the warranty on it. So in conclusion you might think this system is great because of the price you pay compared to the PS3 but once you figure in other costs (xbox live, having to either send the thing off to M$ for repairs, taking it back to store you have an extended warranty with, etc). If you just have to have one then by all means go ahead but if you can swing the price of the competition I would recommend going that route.

    Great Console.. Period

    Amputecht

This console is marvelous. lets start with the bad thing It has 3 processors, and that generates a lot of heat, so the fans used to keep the console cool are quite noisy... not too much, but more than the ps3, for example. Sometimes those fans dont even work as they should be... I havent got problems(and I play a lot of hours daily) , but ive read some cases... the only thing that is bad, but I dont really care is the costs for xbox live... yes.. its not really cheap, but... it is much better than the ps3 internet and that takes us to the games. good stuff games: the tipping point. period. in the console battle, it doesnt really matter if one has a thousand terabytes or millions of HZ of processing blah... it all comes to the games. there are a lot og insanely fun games that are for both consoles: GTA4 COD BIOSHOCK OBLIVION and so on. but... xbox has also GOW HALO3 FORZA2 MASS EFFECT, ps3 doesnt have them yeah.. yeah... the ps3 has MGS4 and Gran Turismo 5.... strong games to beat, I agree.. but still... MSG4 is coming to the 360 as well, aand GT5 is very similar to FORZA2 (in my opinion forza is better. its all about the gameplay, not how many bazillion cars there are).... Yes the PS3 is AMAZING I truly like it as well, but in my opinion.. the 360 has certain advantage... games. the list of amazing 360 exclusives is huge... the list of ps3 exclusives.. not so huge I know I know... in terms of media, the pS3 bashes the 360 into oblivion... but.. I want to buy a GAME console I already have my DVD and my Laptop. I really recommend the ps3 to someone that cares a lot about watching blurays, storing gigs and gigs of music and vids. But when it comes to me, I want a great gaming experience... xbox 360 for me also, I really recommend ordering in this website... I ordered it and it arrived just when they told me it would and I could track the package with so many details, I could almost know the name of the person carrying it at any given time haha. ok im kidding, but it is very good. Much better than other websites. Hope it helps!!

    WAY BETTER THAN PS3

    Posted
    famguy13

I purchased this a few years back and just now thought about writing a review. Now is the best time to purchase and Xbox 360 because of its low price, new chip set(I was told at best buy store that all 360s now use the new Falcon chip and it is guaranteed not to crash), and the fact that it comes with two games. It still might be smart to purchase the warranty for it because you never know if you will encounter a problem although it performs great with the new falcon chip. A couple reviewers said that their xbox scratched their games. That's because... DO NOT MOVE THE XBOX WHEN IT IS ON! If you move it when its on it may scratch your disc or damage your xbox. Games look great on it especially since I just got a new HDTV from Best Buy at a great price. Some people would say that the PS3 is better because it has a Blu-Ray drive and it has better graphics and free online play. Blu-Ray is the only thing that is true about that. I have owned a PS3 for over a year now and the Xbox 360 is by far better. THE GRAPHICS ARE NOT BETTER ON A PS3! You can look it up and find internet pages that show pictures that compare the graphics of each system. Xbox 360 graphics are noticeably brighter and more detailed than the PS3's. I'm sure you've heard that the PS3 is awesome because it has free online play. IT IS NOT! The PS3's online play is not nearly as good as the Xbox's. Also, the PS3 doesn't come with a microphone for online. Then, the PS3 doesn't come with an HDMI cable or HD components! So, by the time you buy a decent HDMI cable and a blutooth mic for online play, you will probably end up spending more than Microsoft's $100 for a wireless adapter. I would recommend buying the Xbox 360 and not the PS3 because of its better graphics, better online play, better accessories, MUCH BETTER FEATURES, and the fact that it is more worth it for the money. The Xbox 360 does not overheat, scratch discs (unless moved while on), crash, or waste your money like the PS3. So DO NOT GET A PS3 before you purchase one of these.

i owned numerous 360's (4 in total) and have yet to find one that works. i got my first 360 a year after it came out and it got the RED RING OF DEATH. i got my money back and i stayed away till they got everything fixed. (this was in 2007 i believe). recently in march of 2009 i decided to get another 360 and have another go at it since they have supposedly fixed the consoles. after day 2 it got the RED RING OF DEATH. i took it back to best buy and exchanged it, the next system froze on every game i had (i purchased about 10 games for the 360 along with wireless adapter, plug and play charge kit) i took it back and got another one. it was good for about 3 weeks then it started freezing on games again and got the error, please insert disk into an xbox 360. redundant that the 360 asks me to stick a game into a 360 isnt it? keep in mind my system was ontop of my entertainment center along with the power brick so plenty of air flow got into it, and it was in my basement which is cool (aroudn 70 degrees) i finally took it back to best buy for the final time and got a PS3. so far i really love it more than any system i have had, though i havent had a wii (to lazy to play that). so far from what i think of xbox 360 is that the only reason they outsale the PS3 is becuase 80% of xbox owners have had to buy multiple systems due to poor manufacturing short cuts on microsofts part. my advise, stay away or have fun playing russian roulette with the free game of RED RING OF DEATH that comes included with alot of microsofts systems. this is my opinion based off of plenty of experiance, search xbox problems and see what comes up and you will find out...and for those who got a good system from the get go, i am glad that you didnt have to go through what i did.

My 3rd x-box 360, beware of the red ring of death!

    Posted
    Stanman

This is my 3rd x-box 360, surprisingly! My 1st one had the red ring of death (overheating problem) so I sent it to Microsoft to get repaired under warrenty. They fixed it pretty quick, I got it back in about 2 weeks. It worked good for that entire year surprisingly. The following year the red ring of death happened again. I sent it back to Microsoft & they fixed it again. One month later, the red ring of death came back. Disapointed with quality issues of the 360, I sent it back for repairs under the warrenty again. To my surprise, Microsoft sent me an e-mail saying due to complications to my 360 they were gonna replace it (an actual exchange). Getting this news I wasn't sure if I was getting a refurbished 360 or a totally new one, the e-mail didn't say. About a week and a half later I got a package in the mail from Microsoft & it was a 360. It looked nice & clean just like mine but this time around it had the HDMI output like all the newer x-box 360's. That's how I knew they really replaced it. After all this trouble Microsoft was good in there warrenty. Shortly I sold my 360 to a friend, because I didn't want to deal with the poor quality of the 360 again. The headache & time lost to send it out for repair is just ridiculous. The only way I'm gonna get another 360 is if they lower the price big time. Sure enough 1 year later they did. It was a whole $100 off from what I paid for several years ago. Hopefully this version or batch won't have that overheating problem like previous models had regularly. If you decide to buy an x-box 360, buy the warrenty no matter what. You'll need it, that much I can guarantee.

Best gaming system on market right now

    Posted
    Poof16

Coming from a person that is neither a die hard playstation or xbox fan this is the best system overall. vs ps3: (down)ps3 is black which is more stylish, has blu ray,and includes battery pack & charging cable. (up)because of how complex the circuitry is on ps3 its harder to program games for it meaning xbox360 has noticiably sharper graphics and game play. vs wii: you will get tired of play every single game by running around the house and since most people have hd tvs now and the wii is not hd it wouldnt be the best choice for that either. Not to mention its impossible to find. Still a fun system though. RROD(red ring of death) this is when the xbox has the left two and the bottom right lights on the system flashing red. I didnt know that this was common amoung 360 so i researched it. It seems that microsoft uses lead free soder on the circuit boards which is safer but very weak especially when heated. The systems fans are also supported by the mother board. Pressure from the fans pressing on the board that is held on by heated weak material = rrod from what I've read. They have been working on this for some time now. I had a 360 for 2 years and on oct 31 i got the rrod. 2 weeks before end of warranty. Mailed it to best buy and got a gift card. About 3 weeks total. This is the newer version and it is noticably different from mine. Lighter, thinner wires, quieter, doesnt get as hot,etc so we'll see. Buy warranty! If you dont mind waiting 2-3 weeks every 2 years or so for new ones this is a really great buy. For that 2 years you and your family will have a blast.

The Xbox 360 is, arguably, the best next-gen system on the market. While the Wii may appeal to more casual gamers, familys, and kids, the 360 is designed for more mature audiences. 3.2GHz Tri-core Xenon Processor - The 3.2GHz Processor in the Xbox 360 allows the game system to deliver blazing next-gen graphics lag-free. Games - The games available for the Xbox 360 are among the best-selling games on the market. The best games for the 360 are usually seen at the top of the charts, ahead of most games for other systems. Though, this doesnt stop developers from creating bad games, and this system has as many bad games as it does good ones. 12x DVD-Rom - The 12x Read time of the Xbox 360 allows faster load times, which lets you get back into the game much quicker than on other game consoles. Xbox Live - Xbox Live is the best online gaming network out there. With the ability to download dozens of games, hundreds of videos, and many other additions to your games, Xbox Live has more downloadable content than any other console. As well, with the ability to link a Netflix account to your console, you can stream hundreds of additional movies and tv episodes. Red Rings of Death - The biggest and most annoying problem with the Xbox 360 is the Red Rings of Death. To avoid this problem, it is suggested to keep your console in a well-ventelated area. But, if you do encounter this problem, dont worry, as long as you have not done anything to void your warranty, you can send your system back to microsoft for a free repair, whether you've had it for 3 days or 3 years.

The 360 is the connection your media center has been waiting for. From sharing pictures to playing games this is the knot that ties everything together. The Xbox 360 was designed as a multimedia tool to play dvd's, play games, and give you an online community. Through Xbox Live, you are given news, previews, and even free demos withing the xbox community. But even without Xbox Live you can still share your love for gaming by challenging your friends in multilayer games or challenging yourself with single player games. Xbox 360 has one of the largest libraries of games to chose from giving you endless titles to chose from. Games are played with standard xbox 360 controllers which are praised and award winning for ease and layout of controlls. Headsets allow users to chat online with one another. Xbox Vision Camera even allows users to partake in the fun of controlling the game. And, being the child of Microsoft means the Xbox 360 will have even more exciting features to come in the future. The Xbox 360 might be the perfect media center for you, however, keep in mind of its bulky design. Power cables will proceed to make matters worse by taking up more space with a giant powerhouse built right into the cord. The out put/input cords dont help either by branching off into two sections: hd (red, green, blue) and regular (red, yellow, white). however you can save some space by purchasing an HDMI cable which will automatically plug into your tv's HDMI port, saving you from using the cables. Either way you are provided with stunning HD on your Display.

Why would you think about not buying this?

You shouldn't even be doubting this product. The graphics for every game are amazing, the features are great (your own media center!), there is a wide selection of games, and so much more! Xbox Live must be paid for, but that shouldn't even matter. The Marketplace is a great source for music videos, movies, and various game-related DLC. Not to mention Netflix on the Xbox (awesome!). The New Xbox Experience, as well as the original Xbox experience have widely interchangeable interfaces. I recommend everyone that has a 360 or is going to get one gets Xbox Live. Creating an avatar and seeing other avatars is entertaining. The party mode is innovative and the first console to do so. Woo 360! The game selection is wide. There are children's game, puzzle games, action, adventure, trivia, music games, and just about anything else you can think of. The graphics for every game are great, and the "achievements" idea was great. For many games, you can get DLC- for example, you can purchase and download many extra songs for games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. The large hard drive will hold just about everything you'll ever need. The cheaper price, graphics, Live, avatars, parties, Marketplace, games, media centers, and everything else on the 360 makes it a definite advantage over other console. Don't stray to Sony- you're probably viewing this from a computer with Microsoft, so simply stick to it. 360 is awesome!

    XBOX 360 RULES OVER NINTENDO W I I --

My son begged and begged for a Nintendo Wii. He finally got one last christmas. For the last 10 months, he has been so disappointed. Our system broke TWICE and even though it did not cost us anything to replace it, the nuisence speaks volumes. Also, several of my son's favorite games were near impossible to play on the wii due to the motion controls, which were fun for bowling or golfing, but for shooters or action games, they were no fun at all. We looked carefully at both the PS3 & XBox 360. We picked the 360 Pro and we are completely amazed! The picture quality makes nintendo look like the old 1980's arcade games. The sound quality is 100% better and the games are more fun. Plus, the selection of games to pick from is outstanding, blowing both nintendo and sony away. And unlike the newer PS3's, the 360 Pro is backward compatable for most xbox games. The only thing I didn't like was finding out that to play those older xboix games, you needed an update which was only available online or by purchasing CDs from microsoft (more than one CD as every game has its own update). To access LIVE, and you have a wireless internet set up at home, you must purchase their wireless conector for $100. (NOTE: I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT LINKSYS WIRELESS G - MUSIC BRIDGE ROUTER CONNECTOR WILL DO THE SAME JOB FOR MUCH LESS, ABOUT $40). All in all, we love the Xbox 360 and would never go back to nintendo. Its great for the little kids but there the only ones who honestly would be impressed with it compared to the 360 Pro. Have a great day!

The Best Video Game System Ever....Better than PS3

    TheMan007

Where do I start? The Xbox 360 Pro can play movies, chat with friends, buy full-length games online, buy demos of games before they even come out, play games with top-of-the-line graphics and sound, not to mention Xbox Live, which allows you to play against your friends or strangers in your own home. And it has internet access, so you can just Google something up without leaving the couch. It has a humongus game selection too (which the PS3 doesn't have). But every console has it's weaknesses. I'm not even going to start with the Red Ring of Death, so let's move on to the pricy extras. The Xbox Pro itself costs $249.99, an oldish game (like Halo 3) costs $39.99, an extra controller for your brother is $49.99, a wireless internet adaptor for Live is at least $49.99, Live itself is $49.99 for a year, and, since I have a Wii and an Xbox on the same T.V., I had to get a wire converter, which costs $16.99. So all in all a $250 System will run you up $456.94. Not to mention one heck of a tax. But keep in mind that you can buy all of these things at different times, because all the Xbox needs to work is a game. You can live for a while without Live and the internet adaptor, and you may just have to play first player for a while with one controller. And you may already have an open T.V. so you don't have to buy the wire converter. But my point is, the Xbox is completely worth the money, as long as you don't have a problem with saving it up.

    Great Gaming.. but

When it's working, it's great. The graphics are super. The online gaming is what every teenager (and some dads) want. It's the platform of choice. However, we've had our original for 3 years and have seen the Red Ring of Death twice and now we've lost all video display. We're "Out of Warranty" for basic coverage, so it's point of decision - buy a new $200 Arcade, a $300 Pro or a $400 elite - or - drop $100 on a repair w/ Microsoft? Also, we found Microsoft support less than helpful. The tech I spoke to did not seem knowledgeable. They basically said "call us back and send it in for $119" or "submit an online trouble ticket and send it in for $99". We have extended coverage on the console due to Red Ring of Death issue, but that does not apply to the current problem. They also could not provide any assistance w/ regards to trying to download or save profiles and other gaming info and porting that to the new console. It's a great system when running. Hopefully, we're several yrs into this technology now, maybe the quality is improving in the new units. We're likely to buy another one due to pressure - my son sees it as "this is what all my friends play". No one is on PS3 (or at least not enough to get him interested in shitfing platforms). If so, I will pursue an extended warranty. Need to understand details to be sure I'm not wasting money, but probably worth looking into. Note - recommendation is a 'yes' with caveats listed here.

People complain about the This system because what.....it competes with the ps3?!?!? Ok lets look here yea you got to pay 50 bucks, ok done i paid my 50 dollars for a whole entire YEAR!!, so with that 50 dollars you get game demos you get to play b4 they come out, you get to preview movies that are in theaters, you can buy full length games from xbox live....Full games!!! actuall games, you can stream videos right to you t.v and watch them, instantly!!! over 450 known videos in the video library....not to mention many others. T.v shows that you may have missed, Netflix, and when you get netflix you get a month FREE!!! to try and you get unlimited movies....and the unlimited movie deal is only 13.49$. So what you pay 200.99$ for the system 4 games at 50 dollars each thats 200$ so you have a total of 499.99 , 50 dollar subcription, WITH ALL THAT I TOLD YOU THAT IT COMES WITH!!!, and then you plug it in at home and you get it all before your very eyes...........If you buy this console a few games for you.....Forza motorsport 2...and soon to come out 3.......Cally of duty 4....and soon to come out Call of duty: Modernwarfare 2.....and Madden 09...and soon to come out madden 10.....my gamer tag online for this console is qpM1Keqp*the i in that name is a one........... hit me up and i will congradualte you on the choice you made on purchasing this system. Where to start on how bad the xbox 360 is, mhm. Well out of my personal experience, ive had 4 xbox's over app. 3 years. My first 2 got Red Ring of Death, Whil the 2 i have now both have hardware issues. It's sad when i have 2 different names for my xbox's. 1 is "open tray error xbox" a common error where the xbox CANT READ ANY DICS!!! And my other 1 is called "xbox with no visual" which means IT HAS SOUND BUT NO VISUAL SO THE SCREEN IS JUST BLACK!! Both of these errors occured very randomly and microsoft excpects me to pay $100 dollars to have them fixed!! I think not! Now my only choices are opening up the xbox's and fixing them myself, or selling everything xbox and buying ps3 (HIGHLY ADVISED!!!) The xbox is also very expensive to keep up with compared with other consoles, it is the only console to charge for live connection wih others. $8 may not seem like alot but over 3 years it adds up. The xbox is also bulky and very noisy. If you like to play multiplayer games over xbox live, then your bound to find a 9 year old screaming at you, seeing as the community can become annoting at times, but not all are bad. Dont get me wrong the xbox isnt all bad, it has good games, graphics are decent, and is very user friendly. But to be completely honest i wish i would have bought the ps3 instead of the xbox 360 in the first place cause now im regreting it.
