    Best Controller for the PC

    Posted
    LordKerby

Picked this controller up for half price. I had my eye on it for a while and decided to pick it up when they slashed the price to half. I test and create new PC electronics to see if they hold up to their claim. If not I just return it for my money back and try the next thing down the list. Well lets just say that this gamepad will have to be a new addition to my Command Station. Got it home and decided to play Just Cause 2; as the back of the box claimed to be fully compatible with the Microsoft 360 controller. Needless to say, it didn't require any mapping of the game pad, and the game picked it right up. Now my friends down the street with the Xbox 360 envy my system just for sheer power and the fact that future games will be released that are fully compatible. I tested also with Mass Effect 2. It was late last night so I may have missed something, but I believe that it isn't compatible. I like playing my FPS's like COD-MW2 with mouse and KB. But games that have a GTAIV or Tomb Raider perspective; then I prefer the controller. Set up was a breeze. If you have windows 7, you will be up and running with a compatible game in less than 5 minutes. Haven't tested this on Vista yet, and it's supposedly not compatible with Windows XP. Right now Best Buy has this device marked down so if your a Best Buy consumer, this would be a good time to buy it. I have to give this one an 8/10 rating. No problems yet!!! Just another good product from an outstanding company. Thanks!

I am an Xbox 360 gamer and I'm currently working on upgrading my PC. A few things to do that was to get a controller. So i picked up one of my Wireless Xbox 360 Controllers and bought the Wireless Receiver for a small $20. It synced up 3 seconds after installing software. Yes you MANUALLY sync it. If you want a different color, theres Red, Blue, Pink. White, Black, and Limited Edition Halo 3 controllers. They ALL work. The Receiver works the same as the Xbox 360 Infared Receiver on the system. I use this for Fallout 3 and Halo 2 a lot. Look up "Pinnacle Game Profiler" on google. You can play nearly any other game using this even if its not Games for Windows. I play Halo and Counter-Strike Source with the controller. You can even use the controller as your mouse pointer with Pinnacle Game Profiler. Here'e the good reviews: Battery life is over 25 hours on 2 AA batteries. Syncs up with ease. Syncs back to Xbox 360 perfectly. Compatiible with Windows XP, Windows Vista AND Windows 7 Beta. Im using Windows 7 Beta *Build 7000* The receiver is very small *about 2" x 3"* The controller has great comfort. BEST OF ALL!!!! THE WIRELESS XBOX 360 HEADSET *$60 one* SYNCS UP AND WORKS FLAWLESSLY!! I only used it with Counter-Strike Source so far and the only thing is I cant hear from the headset speaker. Thats why computer speakers exist. BUY THIS PRODUCT

    Please read: Faulty Microsoft receiver

If you're thinking about buying this product please read ahead and consider getting a different controller. The receiver for this product is faulty. After following the directions to a "T", uninstalling the software, downloading updated drivers directly from www.microsoft.com/hardware and reinstalling the receiver would not work. It doesn't power on automatically (as it should once plugged into a USB port), and obviously the button to sync to the controller doesn't work either. I'm running Vista 64, also tried on a different computer that was running XP with the same result. If you want more info I would suggest checking out all of the forums out there with people having similar issues. I also tried numerous other solutions and I can conclude it's the receiver. So far the best solution I saw was soldering some of the interior components...not exactly what I had in mind for my afternoon. All in all I would stay away from this product.

Must Have For Your XBox 360

I was skeptical at first, but after trying a wireless controller for my XBox 360, I was convinced. I now have four of them and I do not know what I would do without them. My friends and I have the freedom to play from anywhere in the room ... and my livingroom is BIG! These things have got a LOT of range. And the battery life is long-lasting ... and I use rechargable batteries ... so it's really conveniant. Take my advice, if you have a Microsoft XBox 360 of your own, buy these wireless controllers now! Don't hesitate. The couple extra bucks you will spend on them are more than worth it in the gaming freedom and features you will gain. And if you use rechargable AA batteries or a XBox rechargable battery pack, you won't have to spend money on batteries. I would give this product an A+++++

    Great Controller!

I bought this controller about two weeks ago and have used it a lot to play Fallout 3 on my PC. For the person who said it's "Terrible for a PC with Windows Vista Premium with SP 1 (64 bit)" I think he/she is wrong. I have a Dell XPS M1330 Product Red laptop running the Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS (with SP1) myself, and after installing the software from the included CD, then putting the batteries in the controller, plugging in the USB Wireless Adapter, and turning on the controller I haven't had ANY problems with it at all, this controller works great and I recommend it to anyone who knows how to use a computer and enjoys playing PC games. I gave 4 stars on Design only due to the controller being available only in white...

Does not work with a 64 bit Vista system. I have the i7 920 intel chip with 4 gigs fo DDR3 RAM and a ATI 4870 (1 Gig) video card. The system is top notch. I bought the xbox controller to play crysis however when installing the software (which my computer did with no porblems), I (as per the instructions) plugged the receiver into a USB slot and turned on the controller. The controller's lights blinked and blinked and blinked forever. No connection. I tried to uninstall and re-install. To no avail. I have one more option, to find the correct drivers on Microsofts "Download Site" and if this doesn't work, I'm returning it. I conducted a search on google and found many people who have Vista (64 bit), can't get the wireless controller to work with the OS.

Just some more things to know about this first,

Just more things you should know before buying this product. After setting it up by INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE FIRST, the Xbox 360 controller has 1 joystick (left stick,) 3 axis (x and y for right stick, z for two triggers,) the d pad is a Point Of View, and 10 buttons, composed in order of a,b,x,y,Left and right bumpers, back and start, and clicking the two analog sticks. Pressing the guide button shows the battery status of that controller. Multiple controllers are able to be hooked in, along with wired and wireless mics, capable of recording and playing sound. Had I known this I would have bought this a lot sooner.

The best controller ever, now on Windows

The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller is by far and away the best video game controller ever created. It has one many awards and rightfully so, it is comfortable, well built, and responsive. There is absolutely no delay as one would think with a wireless product. Playing for hours on end does not put strain on the fingers or thumb as I have experienced with other controllers (especially the old Xbox 1 big controllers). Microsoft has native drivers for use with this controller as well, so it's very plug-and-play. Just plug in the wireless receiver, driver is automatically found and installed and in no time you're controlling any game that supports a gamepad with the best controller ever made. :)

Ok, it seems there have been some problems with these controllers. Before you buy one, double check that you have a USB 2.0 port (does not work with 1.0/1.1). Second, you are probably going to need to buy a powered USB hub. It looks like most USB ports built into the PC's motherboard cannot power the wireless receiver. Once i hooked the receiver up to a power 2.0 USB Hub, everything started working, and I got to enjoy Bioshock on my 40 inch tv. It really is a shame too. Once the controller started working, it's been fantastic. No lag in the wireless signal, and the controller has a pretty good range.

Windows Live games never felt so good

Best decision I've made to stop my Xbox weilding buddies to stop the insanity. Once they played the same games on my rig as they do on their xbox(s), they can't believe their eyes. My rig is way beefier than the xbox, and muli-purposed for home entertainment, now with the feel of the xbox controller. I've used Logitech, which is good, but you usually have to map it's keys to 90% of the games. This takes the majority of the issues out. Durable as well. For non MS Live games, you will need to map this to a few, I used xpadder to do so.

    360 Controller For PC

Simple to install and recognized and supported by most games. I played Crysis with this and it feels so much more comfortable. Looking and aiming around is a bit slower but you can increase the sensitivity for quicker aiming. Also you can use this along with a mouse and keyboard too so you still get all those buttons. Only con is you have to pay more to get the rechargeable battery pack and the charge station. Both sold seperately. Just a heads up on that. Other wise this is a great controller that's comfortable and easy to get used to.

The only choice for a wireless PC controller

The design of the 360 pad is already superb, but it also comes with wonderful L R buttons similar to those gamers loved on the Dreamcast. The range reaches from one end of my 4-room aparntment to the other flawlessly. Attach a 360 headset and you can chat online wirelessly too. The little downsides are the bad d-pad which is impossible to play older games with, and also the ABXY buttons which are comfortable, but are a little loud when you press them. Still, is my higest recommendation for both the livingroom and the bedroom.

    A perfect controller

After the bomb of the first X Box controller, you know Microsoft was not going to make that mistake at its new launch. The wireless controller is, to me, perfect. It fits perfectly in the hands, has a very ideal shape to it, with buttons placed in a way the makes sense. I have never had a problem with the reach or connectivity of this controller to my 360 or to my pc, where, again, the controller handles perfectly! Bottom line, you have a 360, you should have at least 2 of these in your home.

    Best Wireless Controller for Windows

The is a great controller for anyone who enjoys xbox 360 games as well as computer (windows) games. I believe the new xbox 360 controllers are the best out there right now because it allows users with medium to large hands to comfortably hold the controller for longer periods of time without the cramps that other controllers give. Plus, this product allows the user up to 30 feet distance from the reciever, that's great if you want to lay in bed playing video games or whatnot... Get this!!!

This wireless xbox 360 controller works excellent. It has pretty good battery life and will work where ever you want to go in the room, you don't even have to be facing your consol, you can play under the covers or even backwards if you wanted to. This controller has given me no problems at all. It fits perfectly in your hands and is very easy to press any button in an instant. It gives you a very stylish and sleek design, but also has a very sturdy feel.

The 360 Wireless Controller for Windows is one of the best products put out for sale as an accessory for the pc. It is just like playing a Xbox 360, but at the convenience of your computer, and well a lot cheaper too. The only flaw to it is that only the newer games have settings for the controller, otherwise you have to choose the controls and usually half of them do not work for older games such as Need For Speed Underground.

For zmanster,...Because the controller can be used for both 360 and PC, you have to sync it to whichever system you are using..that is why there is a big white button on the receiver, and a small one on top of the controller(next to the port) No real gripes except for the fact that I would love a config UI/button mapper so I could use this for non GFW/L games. Switchblade is terrible imho

I use this to play halo online on my pc while I am at school. This thing works very well and since it is an xbox 360 controler I already have the feel of it in my hands down to a science. It feels great and works great. The control sticks are very sensitive and the buttons work well. I have no complaints and I would have to say if you are looking for a good controller for your pc you should probably go with this.

This controller is excellent, far better than any other that I've tried. The range is amazing, I could still use it two floors down in my basement. I would highly recommend this controller to anyone and everyone who plays any games at all. The controller is small and comfortable, the batteries give it the perfect weight, and the joysticks are excellent, contrary to what I have experienced with other devices.

The wireless controller is a must have if you play more than once a week. It is very easy to hook up the the Xbox and has a good life before the battery dies. (about 25 hours) Some problems are the bumpers seem to be weak. I have had 2 break on me since the Xbox 360 came out, so for the most part it works great. The fact that there are no long cables to get in the way really helps, esp. in a small room.
