    All doubts laid to rest

I always kept my online appliances hardwired to my connection because I was afraid of lag and performance issues which would set me back in gaming and downloads. After having bought a laptop and wireless router to make a wireless connection in my home, I realized that the laptop's connection was easily just as fast, if not more so, my PC's hardwired connection. So I bought this Microsoft Wireless Adapter along with my Xbox Elite unit. I have to say, it was so much easier than trying to set it up manually with the IP Adress, Subnet Mask, etc. I remember spending a whole night setting up my original Xbox like that, and I spent quite a while trying to set up my Elite's connection this way, however finally I skipped over all that number work and allowed it to look for the wireless network I set up. The unit just clipped on the back and plugged in, it installed in 4 seconds or so. Literally in seconds all my network's information filled in the alloted slots and my Xbox was downloading its updates. The antenna picks up my connection flawlessly, and I have it in an entertainment stand with a cabinet door, on the very bottom slot. Since then I can enjoy my Live better than before, because I didn't have to run a cable across my home. I can surf the web on my laptop, PC and play my first person shooters online and there's not a skip in the beat of performance and speed. Definitely one of the best accesories and most satisfying purchases I've obtained for the 360.

    Great way to go online

This is the best way to get online with the Xbox 360. It is made by Xbox so you can be sure it will work. If you are going to try and use other USB wireless adapters you can't be sure they are going to work with your Xbox. This works great and is very easy to set up. I have mine attached through my Xbox 360 HD DVD player. The biggest downfall of this product is the price. You can buy these for 30 dollars or less from brands not made by Microsoft. Also the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 are including wireless in the box price. With this being 100 dollars and the Wii only costing 250 total it's almost saying that almost a half of the Wii's cost is online ability???? However if you want to go online and be sure that it will work flawlessly this is a good choice. If you are able to go online using a hard connection you should do that instead. A great product that I have never had a problem with, just the price is not even close to what it should be.

This cable is great in how easy it is to setup(if you have problems your technologically challenged), the long distances that you can have it connect to( i have mine 2 floors apart. It works flawlessly and quitely, and is very compact. its great for uploading movie rentals...music, photos, and any other media you may have stored in your computer right onto the big screen. Its worth the price because there are no cons known to me yet after 6 months. THis product is an absolute neccessity to xbox live gamers like me...i mean who wants to run a 120 foot ethernet cable up two flights of stairs. I recommend this to all who have xbox 360's. Competitors Pelican Gaming Adapter dont buy the pelican it is the complete opposite of this machine. the pelican is 30 dollars cheaper. Thats where the pros against the microsoft product ends. It is bulky, hard to use, set-up, its noisy and ugly. The pelican drops connection an average of once every 13 minutes. I TIMED IT 10 TIMES and that was the average length of the connection...yes i bought the cheaper one first but i wouldnt spend a single dollar on that machine again. Buy the brand name made buy the same manufacturer...and the best manufacterer MICROSOFT!

Why is this not built in?

The only reason I would recommend this to a friend is because if you cannot hook up a wire ALL the way through your house, you're out of luck. This also applies if you don't have wireless internet or a really long cord. Its unfortunate that both PS3 and the Wii have this same feature built into their console. No wires, no plugs, no set up. Plug in and play anywhere wireless is available. The cost is absolutely ridiculous. Its $100 for something that is built into other gaming consoles. This adapter does nothing but plug into the back of your console. That's it. No fancy lights. It doesn't make you breakfast. It does nothing more than weakly capture the signal of the internet when its down the hall from you or in the same house. I'm not trying to pick up my neighbor's internet and it still gives me 1 or 2 bars when I'm 50 feet way. Consider it an automatic price that has to be tacked onto the cost of the console if you don't meet the conditions above. Go get it...only cause you have to. Use the cords if possible. It can really save you some money.

I tried to go the cheaper route with the other "Compatible" Wireless adapters for the 360 but lost the connection almost every 10 minutes! Then I tried to get a Router and configure it as a wireless bridge between my comp and my 360, that was a process, after all was said and done, I took everything back and got the adapter I was SO against paying 100 dollars for. Then I kicked myself in the rear end for doing all the other things because five minutes later I was streaming video and getting great reception and not losing the signal. The setup is way easy, it plugs into the back of the 360 so the fact that it is white and my 360 Elite is black doesn't matter because you cant see the adapter anyway. My router is two rooms away but it still gets great signal strength, and I have yet to lose the connection with my network ( it's been about a month now) Contrary to my prior worry, it does not have a lag problem with the videos I stream from my computer. I wasted a few weeks trying other Stuff when I should have got this right away and been done with it.

Best Xbox 360 accessory...when used w/i its limits

Obviously there are mixed reviews about this item. I have used my wireless adapter in a few different situations and it has shined in most of them. I did have trouble getting it to connect at my parents house when my xbox was in the basement and the router was on the second floor. I am pretty sure that the distance was just to great, however I never did confirm it was the adapter and not the router. Take it for what it's worth. I do know it will work w/ a one story difference, and that it will work through walls. I would risk taking a guess that people having issues in these situations need to adjust thier router UPnP settings or need to do a reset of thier router/modem. When used w/i its limits I've never had anything less than a 3+ bar signal (the signal is displayed exactly like a cell phone display). No lag in massive multiplayer games (i.e. Call of Duty 4, World at War, Rainbow 6 V2...) If they would just cut the price of this thing in half, it would be a 5 star item.

The funny think about networks and xbox live, is that the entire connection can be slowed by whoever you connect to. If you have too many computers, or video streaming while using this you may have lag. Likewise, your online gameplay is good assuming everyone else has a good connection. I've connected directly to roadrunner before and experienced lag relating to who we're connected to in an online match. It shows as the players with poor connecins often lag out of a game and the game can then continue smoothly. I've been using this wireless adapter for about a week and it was easy to connect, works great, and i don't even have the most current router. I still have the 2.4 Ghz, which is more than i need at this point. As an avid gamer, online gamer, and someone who hates the hassles of networks, this device is a must buy. Considering it is a next gen wireless adapter, the price is ok, not great, but reasonable. It was that or a 50 foot ethernet cable in the middle of my home, and i wasn't about to do that.

This product is amazing. Like most of the reviews here I didn't like the price. What made me buy it was BestBuy's 30 return policy. I wanted my 20GB 360Pro wireless 'cause the ethernet cord all over the house was getting annoying. THIS wireless adapter is great! I have a netgear wireless router and configuring wasn't hard at all. I think my only pet-peeve will be if this product drops in price after a few more months 'cause then everyone else will be getting the same thing for a cheaper price. The color of the wireless adapter and my 360Pro matches well (white) and it's concealed behind the console. Overall, this is an excellent product. I've experienced NO LAG----yes I said no lag, lol----and if you're like most people who have flirted with this product, myself included, and hesistated because of the price I don't blame you. But DON'T choose some '3rd party' brand product. It's not worth it. Buy the AUTHENTICE 360 adapter and enjoy a WIRELESS xbox360!! :D

    ok product

This is an "ok" product, but i don't think its worth the money. First of all, your xbox has to be close enough to a router to even get a good connection (hint: If your router is directly on the floor above, or below your xbox, you will get a pretty good connection). After I had to BUY a router, it was close enough to buy a longer ethernet cord, which I did, so I didn't even need, and I sold it. This review may seem like i hate this product, well a month after i sold it I bought another one because I switched tv's once in a while and that wasn't possible with a cord. I suggest if your xbox is close to a computer, just get a cord. Another reason i bought another one is because I went crazy and bought everything possible for my xbox all in wireless, and some of it was a waste of money, but its pretty cool.

I bought this a little over a year ago and it worked fine for the first year. No problems. It was a little difficult to hook up, but I figured it out. Like I said, it worked fine for the first year and then after that I have had nothing but problems with it. Slow connection and always signing out of XBOX LIVE. I bought the most expensive Netgear router and our computer is wireless and works fine, so I know I dont have router problems. For the money it is WAY to expensive. You are better off just buying another Modem and only spending $80.00. After you buy another Modem get a two way spliter and split the cable box from the T.V to the Modem. Then hardwire the xbox360 to the new Modem. Anytime you can hardwire a connection it is ALWAYS better. I have done this and have had no problems.

Easy to connect, and fair connection strength. However, this product just won't cut it if your router is far away and behind multiple walls. I highly recommend the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter that Best Buy sells. It costs the exact same as this product. Setup is just as simple, plug it in, select the network(maybe enter a WEP), and play. The product has much better strength, and connects to your Xbox 360 via ethernet cable(it includes one if you need it), so you don't have to leave it by your console if its a poor location. Heres the URL for it: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8682366&st=Linksys+-+Dual-Band+Wireless-N+Gaming+Adapter&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1197679244403 Consider it!

Bought this last month when Best Buy had it on sale for $79 to use in my hotel while I travel on the road. So far, have had nothing but great success with the product. I spent roughly 3 months researching alternatives but when I saw it on sale, I decided to give it a try and it has been flawless. I have used it both at my house and at several hotels around the southeast and it connects smoothly, quickly everytime. If I had to guess why some have negative comments on it, I would say that they probably have slow routers to begin with. Since owning this, I have never had a game of Halo 3 or COD lag even once. As well as it works, I even prefer using it over my hard wire connection when I return home. GREAT PRODUCT!

i paid $100 for this dumb thing. i put it in my xbox and i have one to no bars. i called the provided number where some service dude told me that the limit was 30 feet!!! i asked him if he was kidding, but to no avail. anyway, my main point is the Linksys - Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter, found on the second page of the computer catagory if you search wireless adaptor, is a much more logical decision. it costs the same, picks up a much better wireless signal and connects with an ethernet cord. so i recomend getting that, and perhaps using it again on whatever microsoft comes up with next, seeing how it connects with a universal ethernet cord.

I had one of these for a bit and it got crushed in my last move. I found a better item built by what I would consider the best brand for home/personal/small business users. It is also the same price but it has the additive of being wireless n as well. So it is duel band a/b/g/n. It is very easy to use and can easily be reused on any other device with an Ethernet port in your home etc. The Item: Linksys - Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter Model: WGA600N Price: 99.99 Bestbuy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8682366&st=linksys+n&type=product&id=1197679244403 Good Luck to you all I hope this information was somewhat insightful. If you're looking to take your Xbox 360 online wirelessly, this is a great option to consider. While it may be pricier than a few other options out there, it is one of the easiest to use. Its compact and unobtrusive design allows it to easily remain hidden when attached to the back of the unit or the optional HDDVD player. The main downside of the unit is the price tag, but if you’ve tried one of the other options that are available you’ll see it is easier to set up and use on a daily basis. I highly recommend this to anyone who is either unwilling or unable to use the ethernet port to connect to Xbox Live.

wow where do i start. I went through 3 of these and 3 routers trying to get it to work. i took it to a video game store and they couldnt get it to work either. i wanted to get xbox live for my son in his room and nothing was going to stop me. i finally got my money back from the adapter and went on a hunt for an alternative. i finally ended up at best buy and found the less expensive pelican brand. went home and less than 10 minutes i was up and running. the purchase of this xbox brand adapter was probably the most headache after buying something i have ever had. i would never recommend this adapter to even my worst enemy.

Ive read all the reviews there is to read on this product.. and most of them say its a good buy. I had to go wirless because my router is far from my room and my only choice was to get this adapter.. let me tell you something. It is the best!! i set it up to my 360 my self and got it working in about 2-3 mins! No lie.. it works like a charm. Best $100 bucks ive spent in a while. trust me if it didnt work as great as i say it does, i wouldnt be sayin everything i jus mentioned. So dont be cheap and run 50 or 70 feet of ethernet cable through the wall jus to get xbox live. Get the adapter! You'll be Happy you did.

Decent product but not at all the only solution

its a good product but too many people are spendin 100 bucks they dont need to spend when they have the solution at home to get wireless on 360 if you have a laptop you can get wireless through that. just connect wirelessly to the net on your laptop and hook your laptop to your 360 via ethernet cord. the best solution and about 70 dollars cheaper is to get a wireless network bridge. what that does is basically pick up wireless signal and allow you to plug it directly into anything that takes ethernet but doesnt have wireless so it basically acts as a wireless adapter and they work great with the 360.

I have been playing on Xbox360 Live for about a year now and I must say, I haven't had any serious problems with this Adapter. "I LOVE HOSTING ONLINE", my wireless router is on the top far left side of my house and I am on the Basement and I can Honestly say the signal is very stable and strong at all times, I don't get any Lag. Very easy to Set Up, obviously NO WIRES TO MESS WITH! other than the 2" USB cable that connects right into the XBOX 360. I have been able to connect to other wireless points around my house as well, so I can Honestly recommend this Wireless Network Adapter to EVERYONE!

Unfortunately, I had to pick this up because I had no other alternatives to connecting to Xbox Live. Running an ethernet cable through my house would be the logical thing to do, but since I move my 360 from room to room, I needed something portable. The wireless adapter connects to my router rather quickly, and rarely does lose connection. It is only in one part of my basement, about 60 feet away and 30 feet under where my router is-does the connection get slow (naturally). Bottom Line: It works. Just find an alternative before throwing away $100.
