    Noticeable Performance Boost, Controller Rocks

I traded in my almost 1 year old XBone and got a sizable discount towards this bundle. I initially learned about the deal while hunting the Elite controller, which is not going to be available for a while. This bundle was the next best thing at that point. But I was happy to say that the overall value of this bundle is great even for $500. The Console: The console looks almost identical to the original XBone, but with a matte finish, which I think looks better and more stealthy. The whole system UI feels faster and smoother, it could be due to the SSHD or just being brand new. In game, I notice much faster load times for Witcher 3 (one of my reasons I wanted to ditch my old XBone). This alone tells me the SSHD is doing some work. The entire Witcher 3 in game menu, from map to inventory, feels slightly faster to load as well. I don't have any other reference point for games, but I am very pleased based on these two indicators. The score for the console alone is 9/10. The Controller: The big gun of the bundle is of course the Elite controller. Man is it nice! The matte front finish and the textured grip makes it feel 100 times better in my hand. The triggers are smooth and quiet. Enabling hair trigger couldn't be easier. The short travel distance felt a bit abrupt to me at first, but after some Halo 5 gameplay, I don't really miss the full trigger pull; hair trigger feels just right. In Witcher 3 I had to tweak the controller setting in the app to have witcher sense and signs to properly cast, nothing complicated. The dish D-pad feels great. I tried MKX and KI on the dish D-pad and had good results. The traditional D-pad is great for pressing once or twice, but for doing combos and quickly double pressing, the dish D-pad has a natural rest for my thumb and makes quarter-circles and 180s a breeze to pull off. The only downside of it compared to the traditional would be if I press the diagonal too hard, the magnet will not secure the dish and it would tilt to almost coming off. Swappable sticks are very welcome. I used to use KontrolFreak on my old sticks to play FPS better, but now I just use the long stick and it feels amazing. Another nice thing about it is I can easily remove the stick when I'm playing fighting games so the long stick is not in the way. The paddles in the back is a mixed bag for me. I like the functionality they provide and the placement, my fingers rest right where I apply pressure to the paddles. The issue is the buttons feel mushy and not very clicky at all. There is really no way to fix it, but I hope I can get used to it. Overall the controller is an extremely well crafted piece of kit. The original controller certainly feels like a toy to this. I will do more tweaking and take advantage of the different profiles, but for now, it's a solid 9/10. Right now I cannot wait for the complete UI overhaul and see my new unit fly through everything. It's definitely one of the best purchases I made as a pretty heavy gamer.

After doing some research and discovering that Microsoft finally decided to allow some of their xbox 360 games (main reason I stopped playing console games and went with PC games) I decided to finally purchase an xbox one, after further review I have decided to get the elite bundle (thinking the 1TB SSD would be faster). I have now "installed" 4 games onto this system and am using 25% of hard drive space plus downloading games on this system compared to the old 360 ISN'T much faster :# not to mention the fact that even after waiting to "install" said games onto hard drive I am still having to get up to the console and re-insert the game disc to even play?!?! so what is the point of having a 1 TB SSD I ask.....guess only time will tell. My point in all of this rambling (lol# is I see no difference in spending the extra for the SSD compared to the other systems that have the 500 GB HDD mind you that I have not tried the 500GB version of the xbox one, just going off of my old 360 unit which only had the 256GB and was MUCH faster for updating the system and games. However if you are looking to do more than just play games and use it for ALL it's features then I would still purchase for the 1TB SSD but if you're looking at getting it for your child that is just going to use it for gaming then I would only get the 500GB version since I know for a fact that even though you have "installed" games onto the 1TB SSD you are still needing to insert the gaming disc to play the games so in my opinion don't waste the money for the extra 500GB if you are not going to need it.

The bundle comes win a matte finished xbox one equipped with a 1 TB SSHD - A hybrid drive using a platter to store data, combined with a SSD storage. It boots a bit faster during cold boot (wake from sleep about the same), but other than that there is no noticeable difference. I does have double the capacity of the standard 500GB drive, which fills up quickly. What really makes this package worthwhile is the controller - especially because as a standalone accessory the Elite controller is sold out everywhere and supplies won't normalize until 2nd quarter 2016. As a standalone accessory, the Elite controller might be a little expensive at $150 (that was the general reaction when MS revealed it, and they decided to lower initial production because of it). Spend a few minutes with it however, and you'll WANT it, and can you really put a price tag on perfection? It's not suddenly going to make you the best gamer. It's like an average golfer buying the best golf clubs: it won't give you a significant edge unless you're already really good, but it will make you FEEL like it does.

Xbox One Elite is too sweet

I went from xbox 360 to xbone elite so I cant compare to an xbox one. So I cant give insight on the SSHD improving performance or not. However, I can tell you that the elite controller is awesome. You get to configure the controller in a very detailed manner, setting up not only what you want the paddles to do, but also configure the LS and RS to a few different options. Im not sure on the settings for it, but there is 4-5. From standard, delay, aggresive, smooth and a couple others you can hone in on what you want them to do for different games. Call of duty I set to aggresive, Nhl i went back and forth from aggressive to normal and smooth, didnt get enough play time to figure which i like most. Also being able to cut the throw of the triggers in half for COD is very nice. The only negative I can say is there is a learning curve to playing with these paddles, I kept reloading in the middle of a gun fight which made me take out two of the paddles to leave 2, one for jump and one for reload. This works great for me... Also, there is mention but not much about the ease of switching out sticks, and taking out or putting in the paddles. Its magnetic and only needs a slight turn to take off the sticks, and the paddles are J-shaped at the ends with magnets to hold in place but very quickly can pull them out. Very happy with my purchase although I feel microsoft is going to come out with a slim or 4k xbox in several months

    Trade up!

I love it. I traded up my day one xbox one for this at gamestop - $250 credit towards the elite with a free game and extra controller thrown in - and couldn't be happier. The Old UI seemed faster and more stable with the SSHD harddrive. FAllout 4 doesn't drop to 0 FPS with this faster hard-drive - check out Digital Foundry on Youtube to see what I mean. The xbox one elite controller is fantastic and with the new UI, I feel this is the system we should have had at launch. It's now as fast, and in some cases faster than my ps4. A much needed improvement and, at least for me, recaptures some of the charm of the 360. Backwards Compatibility works great and I use it more than I thought I ever would. It's a nice feature to have. Button mapping is another really cool feature. If you are thinking about getting the Xbox one, I'd say this holiday season is a great time to buy.

It's a great bundle, not perfect though. As for the console this is how the xbox one should've been made from the beginning. The 1 TB drive is a must have if you are an active gamer, although plenty its not enough (for example I have over 30 games and i am currently running two external 2TB drives), load times have improved and much quieter and better looking since the glossy finish would get scratched easily. As for the controller it is great, it takes some time getting used to it, and to get it tune up but once you do it, you wont want to put it down, excellent for fighting games and shooters, its a little of the heavy side but easy to get used to it. (as of now this bundle is the only way to get the controller because its sold out everywhere) A 1TB xbox one (without hybrid drive) would set you back 399.99 an elite controller 149.99, so just taking this in mind you are already saving at lest 49.99 than from buying separately.

I bought the Xbox One on its original release day for $499. I've gone through 3 consoles since then due to bad WiFi cards, controllers not connecting anymore, and one just stopped turning on entirely. 2 of those I was able to exchange at BB with no issue. The third I was able to sell privately and recoup some costs to purchase a new one. This pains me. I don't like having to buy a $350-500 product multiple times, but I am a sad man and must play Xbox. Fast forward to now and I paid $449 for this Elite bundle. It is an improvement in almost every way, especially the controller. Hopefully it will last at least a year. Anyhow, the controller is excellent. The weight and feel are perfect, the interchangeable components are great. I use the tall thumbsticks and they help a lot with aiming on FPS games. The larger 1TB SSHD is great, but be aware that I only had 768gb of free space out of the box. So you lose like 25% of the storage right off the top due to the OS. Other than that, my only gripe is that I actually preferred the glossy finish of the regular console to the "matte" finish of the Elite. The regular console looks slightly more "elite" than the Elite to me. Anyhow, back to binge-playing Fallout 4...

This edition of the Xbox One is going to be great! The addition of the SSHD should definitely speed up load times and the Elite Controller is already worth $150 on its own. Do you really need to go and sell your old Xbox One and/or shell out more money for a new system? Not exactly. While the speed difference is going to be awesome, a few seconds or so might not really matter to you. The Elite Controller is definitely awesome as well, but if you aren't big on multiplayer/competitive gaming then the controller isn't a huge deal for you either. All that being said, this bundle is definitely a great purchase if you're just now upgrading to the Xbox One, or if you're like me and love you some online multiplayer!

The Xbox is great. Loads fast and very quite. Controller is awesome. Much more sturdy. Nice to be able to customize. My experience with Best Buy is not very good. I traded in my Xbox one for $165 dollars. Used that to put on the Elite. They did not have the Elite console in stock so they ordered it online from the store. Well my order was canceled a month later. I ordered it again the next day and it shipped over the weekend. Once I got the console I had to return it to be able to use the trade in money of $165. All this time I did not have a console because I traded it in. Once I got it home and opened the box I noticed it was damaged. My wife wanted me to return it again but I have been with out a console for over a month and was not going to wait another month for another one.

I purchased an Xbox One (day one edition) at launch and I ended up returning it for a ps4 because I was so disappointed at the focus on social media rather than gaming. Long story short, I watched a couple of videos on the new elite controller and had to try it. I purchased the console bundle and WOW. The console is faster and xbox released a new dashboard update which is awesome! I am now back to playing gears and halo. I have to take some time to tweak the elite controller because the thumb stick movement seems different than the standard controller which I am currently using. I now enjoy xbox and ps4 equally (ps4 for CoD and exclusives).

I recently purchased the XB1 Elite bundle from gamestop....They were running a special if you traded in your old XB1, You'd get extra credit towards any new bundle + An additional wireless controller and game of choice. I originally wanted just the Elite controller, but the GS deal was to good too pass up. The XB1 Elite bundle is very cool! Matte finish, 1TB hybrid SSD, Elite Controller all for $499!! The controller is way cool!! I didn't even need the 1TB HDD since I already have a 4TB HDD hooked up. I'd recommend this bundle to anyone who is thinking about buying the Controller alone...Or, to anyone thinking about a new purchase of the XB1...well done MS.

As an employee told me, having a regular xbox kinda stinks because you have to undownload games you don't use much to get a new game. The 1TB drive, he said, is most definitely a good investment. Boy was he right! Having that much memory to store my games really helps in all circumstances. I have about five games and several apps downloaded and not a quarter of my space is taken! Also the modifiable controller is very helpful. Being able to modify which buttons do what is helpful in some games, and if you screw up all of the controls you can basically lock your xbox from outside use! The hair triggers also make it way more comfortable to play. I made the left trigger a hair trigger and now I can aim easier. This may seem silly, but if it does then the hair triggers aren't for you. Finally, the joysticks switching and the Dpad all make it a much more personal controller. Overall, a good buy.

I made my choice and went with the PS4 at launch over the Xbox One. I previously had both the XBox 360 and PS3. With that generation I played my 360 75% of the time so I was more of an Xbox gamer. So I was very content with my PS4 until this unit came out. It launched at a good time for me around my birthday and I couldn't hold out any longer. I have been playing this non-stop since it launched and haven't even made my way back to the PS4. The controller is the big add here, it is by far the best controller I have ever used. I also have a Halo controller that I bought for a spare but I never use it. The only problem that I have with this unit is that the controller needs to be connected via the wire. I must have just got a bad batter unit because it cannot work wirelessly, I have tried everything. I bought the warranty so I am going to take it back for a replacement but I can't stop using it to do so...Buy this one!

I recently just purchased this from GameStop. It was well worth it. I previously had the Advance Warfare edition. The reason I went for this is because of the ss hard drive 1tb and it came with an elite controller. If you buy the elite controller on its own, it's 150. Subtract 150 from the 500 dollar price tag, you get 350. Therefore you are getting a better console than the actually console that is going for 350. The console that is going for 350 is the 500 gb one without an ss hd. This is a great deal if your a hard core gamer. I do agree this should have been a day one console, but what can we do. Well worth it.

    Elite Controller & Storage Space

XBOX One is as you would expect. No huge surprises. They're finally rolling out some backwards capability for games. Honestly wasn't enough of a change or thrilling new titles to draw me to buy last year. The controller is top quality and I really wanted it through the holiday season. The storage space is as it should be but worth the price in my opinion. If you combine this purchase with Best Buy Rewards and credit card rewards, it becomes reasonable. Still, prices will soon fall for this item. Expect deep cuts when the Elite controller becomes available on its own. I would recommend the system to a friend for all the technical reasons more eloquently laid out in other pieces but would definitely wait now for the next round of price cuts.

    Should've been a Day 1 edition...

    kjk91

I like that it has a 1TB SSHD and comes with the new elite controller, but this really should've been a Day 1 edition for the next gen consoles. ESPECIALLY since with the xbox one you have to download all games onto the console even with a disk format compared to a direct purchase from the xbox store. I've had to uninstall and reinstall games over and over just to play a game that I want to because I have about 4-5 core games that I keep on there that I play regularly. 500GB HD on a next gen console is frustrating especially when we had it on the xbox 360. Overall, I am thinking of getting this if only for the extra hard drive space to store games. If I can't trade in my old xbox one, I may be waiting to get this until the price drops and just dropping $100 on an external hard drive.

The hybrid hd I was hoping would be a little faster than it is. I dont really notice anything loading much quicker than it did on my Day One console. So if that is the reason you want to upgrade I wouldnt bother. If you dont have an XBO yet (why wouldnt you?) then pick this one up. The controller is incredible. All the customization aside, this controller feels great in your hands. Perfect weight. The soft skin is a much better feel than the cold hard plastic of the normal controllers. I now see what all the hype was about with this thing. Glad I own one.

The initial cost was a bit steep. However the machine and its controllers look and feel of quality. The controller that came with it is very nice and came with a bunch of optional pieces. Overall it is a great buy. My 360 games are said to be added to the list of games that will work on the One. That is good news. My only problems with this bundle is that there should be two controllers and both controllers should have rechargeable batteries and stand included. If you pay this much for a machine and bundle you should get everything the average family would purchase to play. It would get a 5 star if everything was included.

I was in a pretty bad place a few weeks back. My Day One Edition Xbox One died. Hard. After a couple months of constant factory resets to keep it alive, she was done fighting the inevitable. I wasn't going to go through that drama again, so I spent the extra $$ and went with the Elite. Best choice I could have made. The OS feels much more fluid and snappy. Game loading times have improved quite noticeably. Also, the impossible to find Elite controller is SO worth it. Definitely lives up to the hype. If you are planning on buying an Xbox One, don't bother with any other version. This is what you need. If you have a working XBO already, you can probably pass. For now...

I have only recently began gaming again (I'm 34 and my knees won't let me play sports as much as I used to) and I wanted to get the best thing available for my son and myself for Christmas. I didn't go wrong with this choice. The elite controller is far beyond what I ever had 10 years ago and I actually use the paddles way more than the triggers. Boot time only takes 3 seconds or so from complete shutdown. Plenty of hard drive space. Did I mention I LOVE the elite controller??? I feel like a kid again and it's awesome!
