Customers are saying
Customers have good things to say about the Xbox One S 2TB Console's 4K capabilities, storage space, design, and compact size. They appreciate the ability to play 4K Blu-rays, the large storage capacity, the sleek and quiet design, and the smaller size compared to previous models. However, some customers express disappointment about the lack of a Kinect sensor, limited color options, and the fact that not all Xbox 360 games are backward compatible.

Real Solid Machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a 4k bluray player and after looking at Samsung that is still going for around $400, the new Xbox caught my eye. Its definitely a good value that combines a game system with a large 2TB hard drive (that Microsoft announced is a limited run production) and 4k video capabilities for bluray playback and streaming. The setup was fairly painless. I have it connected to my 4k capable Denon AVR and Sony X940D 4k HDR TV. After downloading the update, Xbox recognized my TV capabilities and set itself mostly right (I had to manually change bit depth to 10bit from default 8bit). Added the Xbox to my Logitech Harmony remote and it was smooth sailing from there. Halo played great and Mad Max 4k bluray looked great! Negatives: - Only available in white color. Can stick out in your AV center if everything else is black. See the picture... - Lack of Dolby Atmos and DTS X sound modes for 4k bluray playback. Hopefully Microsoft will patch them in soon. Meanwhile it still sounds good with 7.1 uncompressed audio out. - Hard drive is slow, 5400 rpm speed, so there is some slowdown in dashboard and game loading/installing (same speed as with original Xbox One). I wish Microsoft would have made it user up-gradable like in PS4. Overall an easy recommendation if you have a 4k TV and are looking for a 4k bluray player/streamer. You get a solid game machine with a solid game library with it. Enjoy!

I love my Xbox One S
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the 2TB Xbox One so there is plenty of room for all my games, music and videos. The HDR and 4K is simply beautiful to look at, and 4K on Netflix is awesome. Enabling the 4K on some TV's can be a hassle so be sure to check the manuals, and maybe the forums. I can't wait till HDR enabled games come out, they will look amazing. Starting at $300 for a game console with a 4K Blu-Ray player included is the best deal you will ever get. Get one now to hold you off till the Scorpio comes out. I plan to upgrade/trade in when that one comes out.

Best value for all-in-one media utopia
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I *love* my new Xbox One S console. As a bit of an Xbox superfan, I already owned two Xbox Ones with Kinect, and have around 120 games, all digital. There's plenty to love: -Smaller footprint makes fitting it in an entertainment center much easier -No power brick to hide or work around -Ability to stand it vertically means you can put it next to (or even behind) your TV -4K UHD player with HDR looks FANTASTIC -Having the console combined with your Blu-Ray player frees up a ton of space and saves you an HDMI port -HDMI pass-through (same as the last Xbox One version) continues to save you an HDMI port -Functionality with your cable box (running it through the HDMI-in port) is fantastic, intuitive and responsive -Up to 2 terabytes of internal storage for your media hoarding, plus you can expand it via USB 3.0 drives -Newly updated controller looks and feels great, with better connectivity In short, this console is an insane value. I actually returned the Samsung 4K UHD player I'd bought earlier and was able to swap outright. I have two 4K TVs, and recommend pairing this with a Samsung 6 Series 6300 set. The smart remote works really well, and I can control EVERYTHING with it without having to mash a bunch of different buttons: TV, Xfinity X-1 DVR, Vizio soundbar and the Xbox. It's a dream setup.

Flawless 2Tb Xbox One S
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was debating on waiting for project Scorpio but I decided to upgrade now from a 1tb xbox one. So the research i did beforehand claimed it's not much difference not worth the purchase if you already have an Xbox One XXX wrong I saw loading improvements in game performance improvements especially on Halo , Grand Theft Auto ,and Forza I also had a 4k TV with hdr so I went ahead so I could advantage of the features the design is beautiful I love the slim design and no more power brick the controller was a let down nothing special or better than the original besides PC play with it now so just pick up an Elite controller if you're on the fence pick this one up because also I hear project Scorpio is going to cost an arm and a leg.

The "S" stands for sexy.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a 4K bluray player and this Xbox one S is the least expensive one on the market. The only bad thing about Xbox as a bluray player is that it will not currently do Dolby atmos or DTS:X via bitstream. You can still get Dolby digital, DTS, Dolby True HD and DTS:HD but to do atmos or DTS:X you will need a stand alone player or wait till Microsoft eventually updates it via firmware. This also streams apps like Netflix and Amazon and many others in 4K native resolution as well as HDR where applicable. Games can also be upscaled by the Xbox in 4K and sent to your tv in case if you didn't want your TV to do the upscaling. I've found that having the Xbox do the upscaling to 4K decreases perceived input and display lag while gaming. The new Bluetooth controller feels great in the hands and connects to my PC flawlessly when playing games on steam big picture mode. I can't speak for HDR gaming yet as Forza will be the first game that I will be able to try out and it has not released yet. Make sure to pair this with a 4K tv that has HDR 10 and at least 1000 nits to get the best out of the HDR 10 capabilities. This console is a home run, runs silent, keeps very cool, no more external power brick and should have been the initial Xbox one.

A great revision to an already great system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Xbox One S is just what Microsoft needed for it's console refresh. The reduced size is greatly appreciated. It looks very slick in white, and putting the power supply inside the box is a huge win. The system still runs very quite, and the 4K HDR media capabilities are amazing. Movies have never looked this good on my 4K tv. The 2TB harddrive size is greatly appreciated, my original 500 GB Xbox One filled up very quick and I had a 2TB external attached. The system appears to be slightly upgraded, the dashboard is quicker and instantly responds. And it might be the 4K upscaling, but I swear it feels like games are running smoother than ever. Overall this is a great purchase and if you don't have an Xbox One now is the time to jump in.

GREAT PURCHASE
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't had a game console since 2007/2008 which back then I had many in the household. It felt great to purchase this with my best buy credit card. Also I was online looking for the box one which since its old I knew it would be discounted. Not knowing there was a newer xbox console out and it being white I was so hype to wit purchase it. Since that da I have been happy and satisfied with my XBOX ONE S in white

4K Bluray Playback Broke...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this and within a week or so it broke when I tried the playing "Lucy" in 4K. The system would no longer read any disc other than games after that, so I returned it. The Xbox build quality has always been sub par and it's getting old. This was my 3rd Xbox One.

Not a required upgrade, but worthwhile for many
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to this unit from the Elite console. I use my Xbox One for TV/streaming/apps/movies and exclusive games and my PS4 for everything else. First impressions: The design is much improved. Very happy with the build quality and the size. Navigating the dashboard is much more responsive than my Elite console, which was surprising to me as the Elite has a hybrid drive. Load times in games also seem slightly better. I'm assuming this is because of the larger HDD having a much higher data density resulting in lower latency. The console is still whisper quiet. I use the Kinect and I am waiting for Microsoft to send me the free adapter (ordered it yesterday, got an email notification today that it will arrive tomorrow). In the mean time having an IR blaster built into front of the console is outstanding, it works just as well as the Kinect when controlling my audio receiver, tv, and cable box. If it only had microphones built in I wouldn't even need the Kinect. In the mean time using the Xbox smartphone app provides a very polished experience. I'm not sure many people realize how powerful the app is. IMO it's better than the Harmony app with the virtual remote and the interactive tv guide where you can browse everything on tv and just tap what you want to watch. 4K Blu-ray playback worked great - I popped in Batman vs. Superman and it loaded right up and played back flawlessly. (Also for anyone wondering, an actual 4K blu-ray disc will playback just fine on a 1080p television. I tested the console out on a 4K Samsung TV and a 1080p Panasonic Plasma). Lastly, as pointed out in reviews online, the graphics card in the Xbox One S is overclocked compared to the standard Xbox One. This results in marginal improvement in frame rates in game. One more significant thing I noticed was when playing Halo 5, which is a game that adjusts its resolution up and down to maintain a high frame rate. On the Xbox One S the game ran at a NOTICEABLY higher resolution most of the time (1080p or close to it). I hooked the Elite console back up to make sure I wasn't imagining it, and scene for scene there was an obvious difference. This said, trying out the DOOM demo, another game that adjusts its resolution on the fly, I was unable to tell a difference between the two consoles (even with chromatic aberration disabled). This is likely due to the type of anti-aliasing the game uses which causes it to look quite blurry compared to most games (the PS4 version is just as blurry from this). Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

A great XBOX One Revision full of upgrades and 4K!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The New XBOX One S is a great improvement over the orginal XBOX One. Microsoft reduced the size o the console by 40% and gave it a great case redesign reminiscent of the white XBOX 360. Best of all, the external power supply is not integrated into the XBOX One S console (no more external power brick!). The buttons are now tactile and have a very satisfying sound when press (power button, sync controller button and eject button). The side USB 3.0 port in the Original XBOX One is now relocated to the front of the console for easy accessibility. The new tactile buttons are great: you will not be accidentally turning this console on or off like with the original XBOX One. The new XBOX One S can also be setup vertically (unlike the old one). The 2TB version includes the vertical stand for it (the 1TB version and 500GB version will not include it and will be sold separately for $19.99. In the back of the XBOX One S you have your usual connections: HDMI in (for TV), HDMI 2.0 out (for 4K gaming at 60hz), 2 USB 3.0 ports, one optical port, ethernet gigabit port, IR out extender (to control other IR devices from the console), Kensington lock and the 2-prong power connector. Long gone is the Kinect port (a sign that microsoft is axing this useless peripheral). However, if you are upgrading from the original XBOX One with Kinect, Microsoft will send you a free USB Kinect Adapter so you can continue to use yours with the One S (really handy for voice command with Cortana now). I ordered mine from microsoft the same day I got the XBOX One S and Microsoft shipped it out to me within 2 days! Just make sure your old XBOX One and Kinect adapter are registered to your Microsoft/XBOX account as well as your new XBOX One S. 4K features are great! Games are upscaled to 4k nicely and 4K streaming and UHD movies look absolutely STUNNING! Make sure to have a 4K capable TV or 4K gaming monitor. I use my XBOX One S on my new LG 27UD68. I get all the features supported by the console in 4K (minus HDR10 support - for that you'll need to shell out more money on either a tv or monitor). When looking for a 4K tv or monitor just ensure it has HDMI 2.0 otherwise the XBOX one will not render in 4K but rather 1080P. Additionally, the GPU in the XBOX One S has been clocked a little higher than the original XBOX One and some games with problematic framerates can see a 10% boost in gameplay. The new controller is almost the same as the original XBOX One controller except that now you have a texture on the grips (to prevent slipping during long gaming sessions), a 3.5mm jack which you can use with your favorite headset for awesome stereo sound. You can also use your headset to run voice commands with Cortana...really AWESOME! The bumper buttons feel much nicer and clickier than older XBOX One controller and the analog joysticks have been adjusted to minimize wear and tear over time. Best of all - Bluetooth 4.0 so you can use your new XBOX One controller with your PC, laptops, tablets, etc. The range is much improved with the addition of bluetooth 4.0 technology. Older peripherals like the chatpad and volume/chat adapter work flawlessly with the new controller! Overall, the XBOX One S is the XBOX One the original should have been. If you have the money to shell out up front, upgrade to this version and then sell the old one. I honestly think this is an upgrade worth considering for current XBOX One owners. And if you don't have an XBOX One, what are you waiting for; don't hesitate and get the XBOX One S for sure!

Sweet & Slick!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For xbox live gold member, I download free games each month and my Xbox One was running out of storage. I was getting tire of deleting games just to have space to download new ones. I was excited when I found out about this Xbox One S 2TB. Especially with the 4K UHD player with HDR. For the price of $399 it was feasible to pick one up since I am planning to purchase a 4k Tv this holiday. There is not much difference performance wise between my original Xbox One and my new Xbox One S except storage space of course. Another plus is that Microsoft sent me a free kinetic adapter for my new Xbox One S. But in order to get this adapter for free (including shipping) you have to own the original Xbox One, kinetic, and the Xbox One S. You will also need to register all 3 devices' serials to your xbox account. It was easy, 15 minutes chat with MS support and a week later I received the free adapter. So don't forget to get your adapter :) Another plus is the new and improved slim body style. I love it. It also comes with a vertical stand (I think only with the 2TB release version only). I would recommend it if you have $399 to spare and need more storage space like me.

Best Xbox Ever!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the original Xbox One 500gb. As most know the original was a beast. It looked and was the same size as a old VCR player. My DVR box was smaller. The One S is a huge improvement from the original. It's way smaller no more huge power brick and a bit quicker. The 2 tarabite drive was a god send. I can load way to many games now. The old one could hold like 3. Don't waste your money on a 500gb version. Pros: way smaller, better looking, faster, 4K streaming and blu-ray, HDR, better frame rates in games from the old one and the new updated controller is way better. Cons: game installs are a bit faster but still painfully slow, no Doby HRD support only HDR 10 would like to have seen both supported and no 4k gaming. Bottom line this is the current gen future proof game system and the cheapest 4K blu-ray player on the market. If your looking to get a Xbox now the S is the one to get. If you can wait a year get the new Scorpio.

Dual purpose upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking at moving up to 4K and UHD Bluray but the players were a bit cost prohibitive. After reading about this, I was pretty excited. We already own One console but it's in my son's room which means my other two kids don't get many chances to play. This allows the other two some playing time with the added bonus of UHD bluray and 4K streaming from netflix and Amazon at around or below the price of a standalone player. Even with a no-name, cheap 4K tv, the picture is impressive. The console itself is cool. I like the smaller size, the white finish and the loss of the power brick. My kids are really pleased with the physical power and eject buttons, as opposed to the overly sensitive touch buttons on the original. Game play and dashboard are the same but with a slight improvement in graphics and the addition of Cortana, though I've yet took set up the Kinect to talk to her. Speaking of Kinect.. For those who don't know already, no Kinect is included in the package and there's no connection for one on the One S console. However, if you already own the original console and Kinect, you can get a free adapter to connect through one of the USB ports. Just go to xbox.com and chat with a customer service rep. and they'll fix you up. (side note: It speeds the process if your consoles are registered on the xbox site) If you don't already have one, you can still buy one but you'll have to shell out around $30 for the adapter. All in all, I'm pleased with this purchase and would recommend to anyone wanting to upgrade their gaming or viewing.

FINALLY, the XBox One we've been waiting for...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's the big deal? Well, MS redesigned it, made it 40% smaller, quadrupled the internal HDD, bumped the display output to 4K from 1080P, added support for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, 4K streaming, upgraded the controller to Bluetooth and added a front USB port. There were also some modest performance upgrades that yielded a small frame rate bump in most games and more steady frame rate across the board while gaming. By purchasing this one machine, I am able to unload my Buick-sized XBox One AND my overpriced Samsung 4K Ultra HD Player. The Samsung 4K Player was $400... the same price as this new XBox One S that does so much more! If you're looking to get into 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, 4K streaming and want a little bit nicer of an XBox One build then this is the one to get. Just watch out for that XBox Scorpio in a little over a year. If you only want to buy once, then wait for Scorpio. If you don't mind upgrading again, then grab the One S to tide you over until Scorpio.
