We purchased the Xbox One S Minecraft Bundle for our two children (8 & 11) for Chirstmas. They were SO EXCITED to receive it, as it was their main gift wish. We hooked it all up, (which was quick and painless) and waited for the multiple updates to complete. I wasn't impressed by the fact that the system, the and the two controllers had to be updated.... they took about 10-15 minutes EACH to complete. Then, the games that we purchased along with the system, as well as the Minecraft game and Builders Pack that came with the bundle all had to be downloaded to the system. I tolerated all of those updates and downloads because I realized that these processes are necessary for the best gaming experiences. The graphics and ease of use for my two kids were GREAT! The games we bought were Madden 17, Guitar Hero Live, and of course, the Minecraft game it came with, and my kids love them all. This system was an upgrade from our Nintendo Wiii which was purchased about 7 years ago, so it was quite the difference in graphics, and technology. About an hour into playing, however, the system powered off by itself. We though it was strange, but chalked it up to the fact that the system had been overworked. We let the system "cool off" for more than an hour, as suggested in the troubleshooting tips on the Microsoft website, even though the system never did show a warning or feel hot in any way. My kids turned it back on to play, and again, after about an hour of play, it shut itself off again. I changed the settings on the home screen to NOT automatically shut off after a certain amount of time, also as suggested on the website. Again, the system continued to shut itself off randomly after about an hour of play. Late Christmas night, I decided to give the Microsoft chat option a try, and I was so impressed to see that someone was available to chat! The tech help person was VERY understanding, apologetic, and mostly- helpful. He asked me what I had already tried, which I SO appreciated. No one wants to be run through an automatic list of "trys" when they're already frustrated. He gave me a couple of more tips, such as resetting the power supply by unplugging the system for 10 minutes, and then plugging it back in, and he also suggested NOT plugging into a surge protector, but instead directly into a wall outlet. Neither of which worked. He then explained that the system comes with a year warranty, and that he'd be happy to help me set up a repair, BUT he recommended simply exchanging the system at Best Buy since it wasn't beyond the exchange time frame. My kids continued to play the system as it continued to randomly power itself off, until the next day when we took it back to Best Buy for an exchange. They were sold out of the system, but they painlessly refunded the purchase to our Best Buy card (even though the original purchase was made online- which is not the case with all retailers), so we could order another system. That was two days ago, and we're waiting for the new system to arrive. My kids were so disappointed that they haven't been able to play with their new toy during their Christmas break. However, I am so impressed at how easy it has been to get the assistance I needed, and then to return the item to Best Buy. We do A LOT of shopping at Best Buy and will continue to do so. Here's hoping the new system works without ANY issues!

I have a 4k TV and wanted a UHD Blu Ray player. I have a PS4 Pro for 4K games, which look amazing, but maddeningly Sony doesn't include UHD Blu Ray playback on the PS4 Pro. The XB1S was $20 more than a UHD Blu Ray player so I decided to buy it. My experience with the XB1S has been decidedly mixed. Getting it set up was the first problem. Getting surround sound working with it was difficult even though everything was auto detected and worked without configuration on the PS4 Pro. I had to dig through the settings and trial and error things to get surround sound working. That was a bit of a hassle and seemed like it should have been automatic. The second problem I've had is sometimes UHD Blu Ray playback stutters. It seems like the XB1 sometimes does things in the background, even if you are playing a disk, so occasionally it will stutter. It has happened for maybe 10 or 20 seconds in about half of my playback sessions. Not horrible, but something I'd really like fixed seeing as though I bought it primarily for UHD BR. As a gaming and entertainment machine its pretty meh if you have a 4K TV. It doesn't do 4K gaming, and upscaled games don't look nearly as good as they do on the PS4 Pro. I tried playing some games on it but they look significantly worse than what I get on the Pro. The OS is kind of confusing and can be laggy compared to the dead simple and super smooth PS4 OS. Its decent machine but if you are using a 4K TV its most useful as a movie player.

    Some Glitches

I purchased an Xbox instead of a 4K Blu Ray player based on similar pricing and having the ability for me and my daughters to play some games. What continues to surprise me about today's advanced gaming systems is reliability. It seems that this far into it there would not be so many glitches. The first was with getting packaged controller to work. I had to go buy a second one before discovering that the first batch of batteries was bad. That's frustrating to get brand new out of box product to find pre packaged batteries were failed. Other items also occur with strange things without good explanation. I tried downloading Youtube application and it would get to 99% and then error code without installing. With some trial, time, and frustration, I finally completely uninstalled, completely reset system to factory, and eventually got it. Another occurred just last night. When trying to get to Microsoft Store to input a game code it kept booting me back to home screen. On about the 7th attempt it finally let me get to spot for entering code. Again, just a strange unexplained glitch that seems to happen in my experiences with Xbox and previously 360 systems.

I upgraded from the 360 and love that I have pass through HDMI, a much smaller footprint, and great lines. I did research on the internal parts and it's a good unit. The issues I have are because the controls are a tad different, and the menu is wildly different. But this I can adopt to, and I will get better. I got the version with Minecraft. I had expected it to have Minecraft but instead it had download codes. So much for turning it on and playing. I had to do a system update that took HOURS on a 150mbps download link! Grrr! Then I had to enter codes to download, and Microsoft had issues for the week and I had to wait. Not the end of the word but frustrating. Then I noticed that the 500GB hard drive is going to be full in no time. Seems everything is a download or install no and does not run from the disc. For that reason I would get the 2TB model if I bought again. Getting the 360 was a lot more impressive back in the day, Get it, but get the 2TB model.

It works, but I have several things I hate about this console. -Online is required for initial setup. -you can't share games by just signing in on another console like you can on ps4. You have to make the system your "home console" -not alot of exclusives besides shooters -all games, even disk based ones require installation before playing. This doesn't improve performance in any noticable way, and after 4 games my console's hard drive is mostly filled. Overall.... It plays games. So it's not 100% bad. But I like my PS4 Alot more. So if you can afford the extra 50$ and not care about gears, Forza and Halo, just buy a ps4. If you do care, build a PC. With play anywhere most exclusives for the Xbox are also on PC. And you aren't chained down like you are on Xbox. I tried to like this console and was disappointed. I'll keep it to play multiplayer with a friend, but I'm Pretty sure most of my gaming will stay on my PS4.

We bought this for Christmas and my kids (8 & 10 years old) love it. Minecraft is their game of choice and it was included so we went for it. The start-up interface isn't as user friendly as the PS4 in my opinion, but the kids have gotten used to it and love playing online with their friends. What I don't like about X-Box is that even to use Netflix or any other streaming services, you must have the online membership whereas I have a PS4 that I don't currently play anything online with but I can still stream Netflix without the added cost. Also I had to download some app in order to play Blu Rays on X-Box and the PS4 is ready to go out of the box. Oh yeah, and X-Box has NO RECHARGABLE Battery for the controller.... Really?!? That's another $25-30. In my opinion, save yourself a headache and get a PS4.... Or be the "good Dad" like me and get them what they want so they can play online with their friends.... Ugh.

I bought this to be a media center type device. It supports live TV but not recording. This feature alone would put it at 5 stars. The only other issues I have are the fan noise and no simple on/off button on the remote. The fan is loud enough to be heard over the quiet parts of movies. The media remote is nice, but with no on/off button, you have to go through several button presses to turn it off. I have it set to turn the TV on and off. If for some reason it fails to do so, there is no way to see the screen to shut it down and turn it back on again. This seems like a glaring omission for a device that is designed to be the central device in your media cabinet and act as a universal remote for your whole system. A simple TV power button on the remote would fix the issue.

I bought this XBox for my daughter (Who I am certain will love it) but I was not very happy with the process of setting it up. I decided to debox and get everything working so she could get right to playing on Christmas Day but it took me most of an afternoon to download the updates and games plus, I was FORCED to create a special email account just for the device. I found that to be quite off-putting. Granted, I am an old guy who grew up on Atari but, since when can you not just put a disc in and play without HAVING to have an online presence? As far as the device itself? I'm sure it is of good quality though its operation isn't necessarily very intuitive.

If you are an Xbox fan, then this might be an OK buy. I would probably wait for the next console this fall. But if you are buying this as a 4k blu-ray player, i would try to stick with a dedicated console. I came from playstation 3, their interface is so much cleaner. Xbox is like facebook and it tosses junk at you all over the place, much harder to find what you are looking for. Also, the blu-ray player is not a native function with the xbox you are downloading an app, which doesn't work that great. Specifically this app has like a 2 star rating on the microsoft app store. I returned this and went with a dedicated player. I am really more of a Playstation person anyway.

This is a great value. 4K player for UHD disks and streaming as well as downloading several apps to use. I currently subscribe to Sling TV and this does a great job in streaming with no lag. I don't understand why MS doesn't include a controller with a rechargeable battery like the PS4 controller. It also feels laggy at times. Looking for some console exclusives worth trying I feel there isn't much of a list to look at. For the price, it is a 4K player worth getting and playing some games. Hopefully MS will do something about adding more console exclusives that will make this console a much better entertainment center.

Bought this because most UHD Blu Ray players start at $200, and figured for an extra $50, I might as well get a full fledged gaming console. Well, that was all good and dandy, but, a standard UHD Blu Ray player doesn't have ads on the home screen (or it shouldn't, at least). These ads are not optional, non movable, and there isn't really a way to get around them - Save for some pretty extensive URL Blacklisting to Microsoft ad servers, which never really worked for me, and shouldn't even be necessary in the first place! I had a hard time not giving this two stars just because of the ad issue, but other than that, it IS a good product.

This is a game that allows for people to build almost anything they can imagine with the use of blocks. This game can be played in many different ways. This game allows you to either build, try to survive from enemies that attack you st night, or just spend time with your friends. This is a good game to play with friends and is a great game for kids and also to play with your kids. Most kids would love this game. The only bad side is that it can get rather boring when playing by yourself for an extended amount of time.

I was looking for a UHD BlueRay player and noticed the Xbox One would play them. Since the price was the same I figured the kids could use it too. Not my most intelligent moment. The BlueRay app is not great and you have to sign up for about 7 different things just to get started. I'm sure it's ok for teenagers and gamers that don't mind having their info everywhere out there. Just annoying if all you want to do is plug your game in and play real quick, there's nothing quick about it.

Maybe I should have done my homework, but it was a last minute buy for my granddaughter on Christmas and she loves Mindcraft, I thought the unit came with the game,It was in a mindcraft decorated box, but No it only has a 41 day tryout ...and option to buy many other games via internet. BOOO on that, I will be getting her the game now for $52-60 bucks ...misleading to a customer but good marketing to get more out of the customer ..just wonderful...

The xbox one s needs an adapter to attach the kinect so that sucks. I had to google how to get it started because it would just turn off everytime i tried to start it up out of the box. The Microsoft explorer app on it turns off randomly. I already contacted microsoft bevause this is not a bestbuy issue. I got my original xbox one from bestbuy and it worked great. I would not recommend the xbox one s.

The console has some glitches that need to be worked out, I brought for my 4K TV for movies watching, and 4K on Netflix as well, but Netflix causes it to crash every time. The 4K blu ray disk work fine. Once the issue with Netflix is worked out along with the few glitches it has ( it some times will turn on narration by itself, which will repeat itself over and over)then it should be a sound entertainment console.

X Box One S is too complicated to set up family accounts. It took forever to figure out how to set up accounts for my kids and let them play online games with their cousins with the right permissions. Nothing is intuitive about the menus or settings needed. It took many trial and error settings to get it right without me having to log in as my own self to let them play.

I usually buy nintendo wii or wii u. But my boys wanted games thay were not in wii. So it was xbox or the playstation. I would of perferred to choose the playstation. Adding players is complicated.. you have to add diffrent emails. Instead of just turning on remote like the wii. Other than that its ok

Purchased the XBox One S at the same time as a Samsung 4K TV. I wanted to try and get into gaming and also utilize the UHD Blu-Ray player. For me, the overall interface was just too clumsy. Blu-Ray picture was great, but I just found I was doing too much hopping around with the menus to get where I wanted.

I found myself buying this console because it was the cheapest Xbox One option out there and I must say it's probably not worth the savings. The system is good but my best advice would be if you really want an Xbox one buy the system with the larger hard drive and game that you'll actually play.
