    Rivals the Ipod

I have had a few mp3 players before the Zune that were from smaller companies. The Iriver was great when its small storage was good for me as well as a RCA player that recently died. I picked the zune after messing around with both the IPOD and Zune floor models in best buy and decided the layout was better for me. Now that I have been using it for a few weeks I have found myself completely satisfied with the unit. The Zune has a beautiful large screen that you can view pictures and video on as well as an intuitive interface that keeps things moving smoothly. The battery life is great and charging becomes an afterthought now that I have been using it to play music on my xbox 360. The only negative for this player is that I have to use the syncronization feature in the zune player to copy my music to the device and it won't let me just copy folders of music my own way. Make sure you get a screen protector if you want to keep the screen looking beautiful.

    Best MP3 player out there...

The Zune is hands down the best MP3 player out there. The iPod is a good product, but the Zune is better... The 30GB is the first generation Zune, but don't let that discourage you -- a free software update gives the 30GB the same software and functionality as the 80GB but with a smaller price tag. The Zune 2.x desktop software has a gorgeous interface and is the easiest to use of any MP3 player. The menus on the Zune are easy to use and logically thought out. Sound quality is excellent. Video and photo playback is great. The build quality is solid, though the 30GB model has an all plastic exterior. My only complaint is that the included documentation is fairly useless -- you'll need to use the online User's Guide to figure things out. Also there aren't enough Zune accessories available, but that is the fault of accessory manufacturers who choose to support only the iPod...

    Zune: IPOD KILLER!

My Zune is great. It holds all the things I need it to. I currently have over 3,000 songs, 7 full length movies and around 25 other shorter films, and over 1,000 photos and I still have 10 gigabytes of space left! The large screen allows for more detail in your videos to be seen than on an iPod. The wi-fi also is a cool feature, especially with the aspect of the firmware updates. The newest one, coming out in November, will allow the zune to sync up WIRELESSLY to your computer! That means no wires! And in the future, who knows what else they'll come up with. And probably the best part about it is, no matter how many new zunes they come out with, the firmware will still keep coming! So, you know you've made a good investment. I recommend this player to anyone looking for a player that will stay with them for a while.

I've had my Zune for not even a year. I was happy with my purchase up until now. The software requirements they have listed on this website (and the Mircrosoft website) are wrong! All it says is Windows XP SP2 or later. What is doesn't tell you is that if you have Windows XP SP2 Media Center version 2002 your software will no longer work. Late 2007 and just recently again they had updates that will totally KILL life with Zune as you know it! When I called Zune to inform them that as far as what the box I purchased the product in said, as well as the Microsoft web page said the system requirements were, they told me it was a miracle my I was able to use my Zune for as long as I did! Once you upgrade there is no turning back. They killed my Zune!! All I can say is you may seriously want to consider that Ipod!

the Zune gets physically damaged. I received the Brown Zune for my birthday last December. I had alot of great music and videos on it and enjoyed the picture and sound quality until recently when the Zune got physically damaged. I used it from time to time and kept it in a leather case to protect it and it was all going great until last week when I went to play it and saw that it was damaged. The screen wasn't broken (there's not one scratch on my Zune) but the menu couldn't be viewed.. it looked like it was cracked inside. This "physical damage" I was told was not covered by the warranty. So basically cost of player and warranty is down the tubes for the person who bought it for me and for me since my birthday gift can't be used. I wouldn't recommend getting this player at all.

    Horrible software program!

The actual device is quite good, not that much bigger than the iPod. I would recommend this player to anyone but the software is the worst. It never works right, it's not user friendly and nearly impossible to change names of tracks that it messed up. It gets worse with every update. Think about this, Microsoft has a dedicated web site to troubleshooting software problems. How about just getting it right the first time like Apple. If you don't mind frustrating software, wasting hours of your time, or living with regret then by all means, purchase this product. Otherwise I would just stick with the iPod. It's worth the few extra bucks you have to spend. I'm throwing my Zune away and buying and iPod. Ok, I'll actually give it to my son, but I'm done with it.

    Terrible purchase

I will try to keep this short- but there is a lot to complain about. I was looking for a mp3 player to take to school without risking my ipod video. I required a large, clear screen; good sound quality; and in general a well built machine. From my good experience with the Apple Ipod, I decided to purchase a 3rd gen nano. Since none were in stock, I noticed the zune had a large screen, as well as a radio. I purchased the zune expecting that any mp3 player in this price range would have good sound and overall quality, especially a Microsoft product. I should have waited for the nano. The zune had a terrible interface, loose casing, and-well, you can read my list of cons. TERRIBLE PRODUCT- TRY THE IPOD OR SIMILAR MP3 PLAYER

I bought one of these babies about a year ago and have loved it ever since. The greatest features are that you can wirelessly hook up to another Zune user and swap music and pictures. I also love the fact that you can pick up your local radio stations! The screen is amazing, nice and clear coated, unlike the iPod which is screen behind a screen. I bought the brown one just to be a little different and I am glad that I did. Everyone always asks me "what is that, an iPod". I always correct them firmly and tell them it is so much more than an iPod. Also it hooks up so easy to my Xbox 360 via the USB cable. If you are in the market for an awesome Mp3 player, dont waste your time with Apple. GET A ZUNE!!!

Very unhappy customer. I have the 30gb zune and have been disappointed from the very beginning. 1st the graphics do not equal ipod or creative zen. 2nd you have to keep downloading zune software for it to work properly and 3rd which i am really upset about is that if you erase songs from ur collection it erases from the zune the next time you sync new songs so you have to keep all songs you have downloaded on your computer which slows your computer down. It might be cheaper than the ipod but not worth the headache. DONT GET THIS PRODUCT.

    Moving to another product

Pros: I liked the fact that the screen is big and it held all of my songs and pictures. Cons: But with mine and some of my friends too, I could charge it all night, and have a full battery, but then when I would listen to it, I would only get an hour of play back. And then I'd need to charge it again. Plus, there aren't that many accessories. I would not recommend getting this product. I should have listened to my friends when these first came out and not bought one. I'm going to buy an ipod 160 and get a working product.

    A great Christmas Gift

We bought this for our 13 year old son for Christmas. He was thrilled with the screen size. The Zune is very easy to set up using the computer and set up instructions. The amount of memory is incredible and the fact that it can hold full length movies is a plus! It is a little thicker than other Ipods but does not seem to be a problem. It is still small enough to put in a pocket or backpack. I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like it not only to hold their music but for movies and videos as well.

ive had alot of mp3 players in the past 3 years. from an ipod video to a panasonic to a coby but the Zune is by far the best one ever. its so user friendly and very large screen for those video's and pictures you want to look at the only thing bad i would have to say is that you have to use the media player that comes with the Zune to sync yor music but other than that its the very best ive ever had. i suggest if your looking for a mp3 player then look no further cause this one is it

The sound quality when watching movies is remarkable especially if the movie is in surround sound. Picture quality is super but be careful with the screen protector, it will take away from the quality. The storage space seems never ending. I have tried to fill it to full capacity with no luck, which is a good thing. The sync speed is so fast it makes me laugh every time I add something to my Zune. The Zune Pass is an incredible deal with no pressure to sign a contract.

I have had the Zune since February and have had no problems with it. The battery lasts for about 10-11 hours instead of the 12-14 it advertises, but I don't think that any of them last as long as they say they do. The simple use of the Zune is very easy to use. Using some of the more complicated features requires a bit more work. All in all I love this product and if they had a 80gb or 160gb I would buy that so I could fit all of my music on to the Zune.

The only thing that I dont like about this product is the marketplace. The marketplace is a lot cheaper than iTunes but it doesnt have things like movies, TV shows, audio books, or Games. It does have music, music videos, and podcasts though. Still it has wi-fi, radio, wireless sync, and it gets firmware updates so you dont have to buy a ne product everytime one comes out! Better than the iPod but marketplace needs to be updated!!!

Lots of room for memory, easy to use. Sound is great, better than I thought it would be. I bought 2 as gifts for my children and I am now thinking about getting myself one. You can put pictures, videos and tons of songs onto these, it is alot easier than I thought it would be. It is a little bigger than the thin models, however, for the price, you get 30G instead of 4G. I would definately recommend this product to anyone.

It is a great alternative to the ipods. I love the screen resolution and the clearity. It is great when I am traveling. The headphones that come with the unit are GREAT!!!! I aslo love how it comes pre-loaded with stuff. However, the software is a bit confusing. But when you get used to it it's a little bit easier to navigate through. I would purchase this product again. I highly recommend to give this product a try.

I bought this about 6 months ago. I haven't had any problems with it at all. My sister was even in the market for an mp3 player not to long ago and i convinced her to put out the extra money to to get this instead of a smaller in size ipod or other generic. I have recommended it to all my friends as well. I have 2 friends that have already gotten them. And wouldn't get anything else.

I love my zune!! I purchased my zune a year ago and I have no regrets. After comparing with many other MP3 players I knew this was right for me. In the morning when I do not want to miss my radio shows I dont have to b/c now I can listen to the radio on my Zune. The screen size is great to watch movies/video on and the best part is I can download from any computer unlike IPOD. I love it!!

    Good mp3, bad software

Although this product does what an iPod can it lacks in the department of software. The Zune software is just not up to par considering I've used iTunes before. Zune often mixes up albums and sometimes adds songs to the wrong artist or adds them to unknown or various and once they are in those catagories for some reason you can't get them out. It's just a mess.
