This game is well thought out with great graphics. My problem is it dumps you into the action too quickly, and the amount of times button pushing and continuous manipulation of the controller is too much for an older person with arthritis. Even on the easiest setting it proved to challenging.

Shadow of Mordor is basically Assassin's Creed w/Batman combat in the Middle-Earth setting. The Nemesis system is interesting at first however it gets old after awhile. I cannot wait to see what they do to expand the Nemesis system in future games.

Based on reviews, I bought this. Game play is interesting, controls aren't hard to master. However, I can see getting bored after a while.

Not bad, decent game but gets redundant. Biggest issue is having captains spawn outside their designated areas. Which leads to 3 to 6 captains whooping you early on while your trying to single one out. Just see a boss and flee over and over till mid game, because one boss is never just one. That's only real major complaint. Almost flat out quit early game due to this as the map/world is very very small, and running into captains is a constant issue. Also very very small map/world.

Shadow of Mordor actually adds a lot to the understanding of the history of the one ring that will be interesting to Lord of the Rings fans, but only if you spend the time to gather the artifacts and read the artifact histories. Most of the game is about killing lots and lots of URUKS! The tools in your arsenal are formidable and you usually have about 6 different ways to kill anything in the world. At the beginning, you will die alot, but towards the end of the game you become all-powerful. The mechanics will be very familiar to the Assassin's Creed players. The story seems like an add on to the carnage, but the game mechanics are good and future installments with a better story and more characters should be better just like AC got better. If you like LOR or AC then you'll probably like this game...

Initially I enjoyed, but several things combined caused me to terminate play before finishing and trading-in for credit. I could never figure out how to perform the special finishing moves / combos. I would follow the onscreen guide (e.g. push A + B etc) and 99% of the time, nothing different happened. Accordingly, it was essentially impossible to win the key battles and continue on into the main game story path. As a result, I essentially continued to ramble around slaying various captains etc all of which became quite repetitive. In the end, I stopped at the point where you're suppose to kill the Black Captain (just couldn't get the hang of what ever it was I was supposed to be doing), and just returned the game for Trade-in credit.

The game starts out fun but quickly devolves into an Assassin's Creed ripoff. Battles are a little exciting because they can be challenging with the amount of enemies on the screen. The story is pretty good but I just lost interest in the game after a few hours with it. The map isn't that big and there is no real variety - just the same forge tower (eagle's nest in AC) and the same enemies you have to sneak around. If you haven't played Assassin's Creed I guess this game wouldn't be boring but otherwise I'd stay away until it drops down to the $10-20 range.

Very good Assassin's Creed style game with a Lotr coat of paint. The early game isn't very fun with constant deaths until you level up enough to get some powers that makes combat much easier. Graphics are great and controls are responsive. It has little replay value in my opinion once I finished the campaign I was done with it except for a few achievements.

Shadow of Mordor is basically Assassins Creed based in Middle Earth, Specifically the Black Gate Region. The game is average at best. While the main quest story is interesting the side missions quickly become boring as they are all the same. The Uruk's that are captains in the game are interesting but this too is repetitive. Manage to kill one, get the perks for weapons. Die and the Uruk gets promoted. Same thing over and over. Unless one is a huge Tolkien nerd, such as myself, this game would not be recommended.

Fun game and visually fantastic. It made for a nice welcome to the new Xbox One gaming system. However, these new games sure do require a lot of space and install time. Very surprised to see that two games ate up nearly half the storage on the unit.

Game plays like this. Kill this guy. ok, now his leader, ok now these two that are slightly stronger. Super repetitive button masher. If you like Assassin's Creed, you'll like this. The mechanics are the same. So much so that WB got sued over it, IIRC. The game does play well and it's pretty in the process, but pretty short and not worth a replay when you're done.
