    Weather Watching in MD

This radio came packaged with a power adapter; the exterior packaging gives no guidance to indicate you should purchase three AA cells batteries to install as an emergency power backup in the event of a power outage. The instructions are thorough as far as they go. I managed to set the time and and change the radio's setting from ANY to my local Maryland county. There is nothing to explain how this radio can be expected to perform in the event of a local tornado warning when I have the radio in snooze mode. Yes, it tells me how to check my radio during the weekly or monthly testing, but I just plugged it in today and inclement weather is expected. Can I depend on this radio to awaken me in the event of an approaching tornado? It appears the radio works well, but the instructions need elaboration. There is a PC cable port, but there are no instructions about how or when this should be used. What happens if I connect it to my Mac? Whenever possible I like to keep all my equipment looking like new; the faceplate came covered with a nice thick piece of removable static adhering vinyl; I wanted to leave it in place, however the manufacturer printed info on the vinyl so I had to remove it to be able to read the digital readout. Midland, why not print your info on an additional piece of vinyl and place it over the entire blank piece so we can protect the face of our radio?

It is very easy to setup and program. The directions are very through. The Alarm is extremely loud. I have found the radio to be extremely useful, especially since we have had alot of tornados this year.

I set the code for my area and didn't get an alert for a tornado watch. Then I was awakened for an alert for an area 60 miles away. I double-checked the code and it was entered correctly.
