We needed about a 2 mile range (38 miles is advertised) But, were unable to even get a mile. I have gotten as good from a $20 stars wars kids walkie talkie

Posted .The X-Talkers average 1/2-1 mile in normal environments. The extreme ranges can be reached in optimal conditions such as mountain top to mountain top or over water. Even out in the wide open rural flat country of Ohio these radio's would not working more than 1/2 mile apart while driving on the same road within line of sight. At 1/4 you star to break up and past the 1/2 mile marker your gone. This is while using the radio on the high power setting in one of the 7 FRS channels. I would happily pay double the cost of these for even half the advertised range.

Posted .The radios can go up to 38miles in perfect conditions with a clear line of sight. If there are a lot of trees or other obstructions the range can and will vary.
